Politics / Re: The Act That Gives The President The Power To Lock Down Lagos, Ogun & FCT. by lekebanks: 9:12am On Mar 30, 2020
OP when was this Act amended?

By 27th May 1926, Nigeria was not a sovereign 'country' but a British colony administered mainly from Britain by the Queen of England not 'President'. The Queen ruled Nigeria through her Governors General and not any 'Governor'. Nigeria had no states then but had administrative protectorates which were governed directly or indirectly by force. So how does this Act apply under our present democratic administration?

The Naira was also not in use in Nigeria as at the date of this Act.

Times have long changed and the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (as amended) remains the Supreme Law which must by followed in imposing any restriction of movement in Nigeria.

My fellow Nigerians should we keep commenting and waiting on God to come and break this spell for us or do something about it.

Fela described us perfectly by summarizing our very nature, but even listening to his songs on indefinite repeat won't solve our problems.

Until we eliminate tribal and religious discrimination and live above hypocrisy and cowardice, we won't be able to think straight and effect a positive and definite solution to our problems.

Crime / Re: Court Orders Invictus Obi To Forfeit N280.5 Million To Federal Government by lekebanks: 6:48pm On Nov 22, 2019
mattjunior:
A Federal High Court Sitting in Lagos has ordered the final forfeiture of N280.5million “warehoused” in the bank accounts of Invictus Oil and Gas Limited and Invictus Investment Limited alleged to have been owned by Obinwanne Okeke “a strong leader of a cybercrime syndicate specialized in business email compromise.”

Justice Rilwan Aikawa made the order of final forfeiture on Thursday.

The order of the court was as a result of the submissions by the EFCC Legal officer Rotimi Oyedepo

Okeke, popularly known as Invictus, is standing trial in the United States of America over an alleged $11.5m cyber fraud.

The 31-year-old Nigerian, was in 2016 celebrated by Forbes as one of Africa’s most outstanding 30 entrepreneurs under the age of 30 and described by the magazine as “proof that there is hope for Africa.”

Instead of our Govt calling for his victims (local and foreign) to come forward to retrieve their stolen funds upon proper identification and scrutiny, the Govt is merely taking undue advantage of the situation by seizing the funds.

In Naija, it's ironic that when a victim manages to report his aggressor to appropriate authorities upon suffering a wrong, and gets no compensation at all even after being extorted by corrupt Govt officials who demand mobilization sums before doing their jobs....,the Govt who the victim reports to smiles to the bank through fines, attachments, confiscation, bail sums, garnishee and forfeiture orders, etc imposed on the victim's aggressor in favor of the Govt. Check our security agencies, standards regulators, telecoms regulators, etc.

There's no justification for it..........But what if the stolen funds were indeed confiscated by the Govt for the ordinary Nigerian's benefit? Lol. Please tune in to your stomachs at Hunger O'clock to find out. #Parasiticrulers #Hostfollowers.

SpecialAdviser:
Nonsense. Is he sick to go home? Or can't he recognise the route to his house?

Simply for u to release someone to go home, u are claiming he must have somebody take him.

Why demand someone to receive him or did anyone hand him over to the DSS when they arrested him?
Sports / Re: Who Poses More Danger: Messi Or Ronaldo? (With Photos) by lekebanks: 7:56pm On Oct 16, 2019
To me Messi is obviously more threatening than Ronaldo as he (Messi) possesses game/mind-reading, 3D vision and ball-to-foot gluing abilities when playing against his opponents and alongside his teammates.

In addition, his small physique, subtle but effective body feints, dribbling moves, mastery of the art of deception, ability to suddenly change direction on top speed, accelerate and decelerate intermittently, his determination to retain the ball and not fall cheaply even after dangerous tackles from opponents, his superb ball-passing and control abilities, playmaker roles, ability to switch positions/wings, etc make him way more dangerous than any player to have ever played the game of football.

Ronaldo poses less danger because he not only falls to the ground upon slightest contact by defenders probably due to his unusual desire for set pieces but he also needs space to dribble (which is rarely available).

Crime / Re: Court Convicts Ex-banker, Loretta Bayei For Fraud by lekebanks: 3:11pm On Jul 23, 2019
sotall:
did you see the easy option?

Either she pays the bank 11 million or do another 18 months in jail.

She will prefer the latter even if she has the money

If she opts to serve the 18 months' sentence rather than refund the 11 million Naira, the bank can still institute a civil case against her for the said amount and claim General damages.

Politics / Re: Why Ajimobi Pardoned Yewande Oyediran Jailed For Killing Husband – Ex Oyo AG by lekebanks: 8:45am On Jul 22, 2019
From the facts of the crime, motive was clearly a precursor to the offence. A summary of the events which led to her pardon are that:

1) Yewande, a lawyer with the State Ministry of Justice, faced a charge that she stabbed her husband to death on 2 February 2016

2) She reportedly stabbed her 38 year-old husband twice.

3) Oyelowo (husband) died after he was brutally stabbed

4) The first time, she hit the husband on the shoulder, missing his heart by just few inches.

5) When the husband returned from hospital, she attacked him again, this time hitting him fatally on the neck. Oyelowo bled to death.

a) According to family sources, the argument between husband and wife had started over the husband’s proposed business trip to Europe and then to stop over to visit his child (from another woman) who’s also living in Europe with the mother.

b) “Their neighbour-the Landlord intervened in the matter and took Oyelowo to a nearby hospital for treatment as he bled profusely.

c) After treatment he was released to return home and instructed to rest as he had lost a lot of blood. On arriving home, the Landlord’s son offered Lowo his room to pass the night. But he declined the offer stating clearly that ‘all was fine as he trusted his wife and believed she didn’t mean to harm him’.

d) “Few hours later, a shout was heard again: it was the cry of a man in agony. Oyelowo was battling for his life, blood gushing out of his neck and mouth. His wife Yewande had used a knife to stab him once again, unfortunately it was in the neck, a very delicate part of the body. He was whisked to the hospital where he was certified dead on arrival”.

6) Charged with murder but convicted of manslaughter and handed a 7 year sentence.

7) Pardoned 3 years later after petition was allegedly written by highly connected family members of hers and under a committee made up of members of her State Ministry of Justice

cool Without prejudice to her pardon, many amongst the 350 cases left unpardoned constitute minor / simple offences worthy of the same prerogative order.

Animal farm's certainly more domesticated than this zoo. Double standard's the name of the game!

Try to join the winning team, if not wetin you gain?

Congratulations to her.

Business / Re: No Country Can Survive With Republic Of Benin As Neighbour – Dangote by lekebanks: 2:08pm On Jun 09, 2019
If we make the prices of our locally manufactured goods competitive or lower than the prices of smuggled goods, then Nigerians would demand more locally manufactured goods and smuggling would die a natural death. Let's apply the simple laws of demand, supply and price.

Sports / Re: Lionel Messi Solo-Goal Vs Getafe Voted Best Goal In Barcelona History (Photos) by lekebanks: 4:06pm On Mar 29, 2019
Messi is a mind-reader: He can predict which way a player's tackle would go and has little need for leg-overs or mechanical skills.

He enjoys a 3D view of the pitch: He sees the pitch even better than most spectators and better than other players.

He is not selfish: He allows his teammates play as a team and get pieces of the action through his assists (his passes are devious to other players but precise for whom they're intended).

Messi has magnetic feet: he can glue to ball to his feet while running at incredible speeds.

He can manipulate gravity: He has incredible stamina; can curl the ball round impossible angles; he is quick but can adjust his pace in micro seconds, he doesn't dive in the box.

He is cunning: He mostly shields his mouth when communicating with his teammates, unleashes crazy passes, goals, dribbles, body feints etc.

He is fun to watch: He is the most entertaining footballer of all time, the most humble, the best dribbler etc.

He is down to earth: Despite his magisterial displays every now and then, he avoids taking the glory, leads a simple life.

He is lethal: I don't know of any more lethal player than Leo. The brother is every defender's nightmare. Pls take time to watch videos of other players and of Messi on youtube and see for yourselves what he does to peoples parents (footballers). Lol

He is heavenly: He makes difficult tasks look simple, attracts admiration from his opponents, is a blessing to coaches and his teammates, is a natural and is not mechanical. He is simply out of this world!
