IF YOUR APP IS MORE THAN THE AVERAGE PROCESSING TIME, CLICK HERE TO SEND A CASE SPECIFIC ENQUIRY TO CIC
Bro

The CSE should be directed to the embassy in Lagos.

Info on CIC website suggests Lagos office is responsible for study permits in Nigeria.
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 14 by Lemia(m): 5:25pm On May 30, 2018
Please I want to confirm if paper route study permit applications are processed in Lagos because the message from VFS then was that my application has been forwarded to the embassy in Lagos.

I'm asking so I can be sure which office to direct my case specific enquiry.

If there's anyone who applied via paper route, has been approved and has collected stamped passport, please confirm the office where the application was processed !

Most probably, mine got updated immediately. I will advise you to contact VFS to complain.
There's no cause for alarm. This is common with paper route these days.

Biometrics should be the least of his worries

Phocusjosh:
I'm concerned about your biometric. Why is it yet to be updated after five weeks of application?
Hello!

There's no problem with your biometrics.

it's a common trend now that paper route applicants do not get biometrics completed till the visa is being approved. I'm in that shoe now alongside lots of other people.

Looks like applicants from April 10 are in two categories: Rejected or No reply. Ive not seen any applicants within this pediod got a medical call. I'm I right or wrong?
Please indicate where you belong let's know ourselves. Hehehe.
I applied April 11. I did upfront medicals.

Still on BG check and eligibility review. No update on medicals.

You are not entirely correct, sir.

The minimum grade requirement for MUN, for example, is 2.75/4point. Converting this to the 5 point scale is 3.43 which is a 2.2
Bro the conversion isn't exactly done like that.

These schools have what they call international degree equivalency. you'll have to check the particular degree requirements for students from Nigeria before can be sure what is required.

From my research, all the Canadian schools I've seen require minimum of a 2:1.

I'm obviously going online, so I plan to scan the additional month and merge with the previous and explain why I have to do that. The SOA is for my sponsor, the previous one cost him about AUD35 to send via DHL, which I don't think he'll be willing to do again. I'm thinking if he can just scan the additional month and I explain with letter from Quebec about the delay in processing CAQ
I'll advise you to reprint the whole SOA.

Even though it seems like practically the same thing to just add an extra one month which makes it appear like you just continued form where it stopped before, there will be a lot of discrepancies which the VO can detect and assume that you forged your SOA. This will count as misrepresentation and you may be subject to a ban.

An example of such discrepancy will be the value of opening balance, closing balance, total inflow and total outflow.

The transactions during the extra month you print separately will not be added to the total Inflow and out flow.

similarly, the closing balance at the last page of the SOA would now be different from the one on the first page.

Please save yourself all the headaches and reprint your full SOA.

justwise:
I read that line from a lot of people here, inflow and outflow means absolutely nothing, your ability to meet the financial requirement and convince the embassy that the money will be available to you in Canada is the key here, it could be savings account without much activities on it but just the required amount to meet the cost of your education.

Yes the embassy expect you to have that money not only until your visa is out but in Canada as well.

If you don't have enough money to carry on your day to day activities without withdrawing from the account submitted to the embassy then forget about foreign education and do something else with your money.

If you withdraw the money while your application is still under consideration then its fraud/misrepresentation simple
@Justwise If there is no reference from CIC website or from their constitution directly stating that withdrawing money from an account that was presented for studies qualifies as misrepresentation then you cannot outrightly make that assumption.

if there's any article regarding this issue that backs your point, please do well to share with us. We're all here to learn boss.

That doesn't make sense, is either you have the money in your bank account supposedly for visa application or you don't, whether you want to have your money in cash or invest in any business got nothing to do with your visa application.

Its not my rule, its just the issue of common human decency, trust and honesty.

We Nigerians are our own worst enemy.
@justwise while I agree with you that some people can easily get money just to show for visa sake and then remove after applying just to deceive the embassy, you have to agree that deceit or fraud is not always the point.

You agree with me that asides having the right amount in your account balance, the embassy all checks cash inflow, cash out flow, employment letters. All these are to prove that there's a constant source of income and the applicant has the ability to generate funds when required.

That being the case, it's clear that account balance isn't the only thing and that account balance may change so far the applicant to generate the funds when required.

Also come to think of it. if the embassy really wants to ensure you have the money at the point of issuing visa, then they wouldn't even request that account statements be at least one month old. we all know a lot can happen in a month. Also if they wanted to be sure you an applicant has the money at the exact required time, then they'll probably ask for account statement last like they do for medical call.

I'm in no way supporting fraud but not everyone in this scenario should be considered fraudulent.

Thanks. My school reopens in September, so more time. Preparations are currently ongoing. The usual "pre-departure syndrome":

-Refurbishing my wardrobe
-Searching for accommodation
-Smiling in anticipation whenever Canada is mentioned on TV.
-Wondering how on earth I can fit my entire existence into two 23kg suitcases.
-Wishing June, July will be removed from the calendar so September comes quickly.

God has been Faithful.

It shall end in praise for us all.
This is the funniest post I've seen here in a while!

Bro please enjoy your stay in Nigeria now while you wait for September. I'm certain you'll rather be waiting for September to travel than waiting anxiously for TRV like most of us here.

it's might be a while before you return to Nigeria so feel free to enjoy naija and make some good memories with your loved ones.

Cheers and congratulations.

I didn’t see this one. There will always be TRV refusals is a fact. Canada cannot be for everyone who applies. The correct prayer is that may God meet everyone at the point of their needs, those refused the strength to carry on in discovering God’s plans for their lives. For some, not going to Canada might be a good thing even though it may appear not to be so looking so right now. Perhaps if God allowed you to go, you might miss out on His plan to stay home and build wealth and opportunity that may have bye past you had you gone to Canada. Perhaps by not letting you go is God’s way of helping you avoid meeting an untimely death in Canada. I have seen that happen before. Nothing bad in been religious, free and true expression of faith while putting in the requisite work in vindicating one’s faith, is a superb thing. Please people in this thing, always pray awork hard and put a God first! He who doesn’t pray is foolish. Pray that God’s purpose and will be fulfilled in this endeavor. This is the only thing that makes sense.
Of all the things you've ever said on this thread from day 1, this is by far my favorite!

Work hard, pray hard! That's the key.

Thanks silk07

Gurus in the house please I need your opinion on this.

1. I have a co-sponsor (My Maternal Uncle) and I want him to transfer money into my account then submit ONLY my SOA with a sponsorship letter from him.
2. Or have him transfer the money into my account and submit both of our SOAs.

My tuition fees has been FULLY PAID by my Main sponsor (NDDC) and I hv 16kcad as upkeep in my CANADIAN ACCOUNT waiting for me in Canada just doing this to show family support.

Please No. 1 or No. 2 which is most preferable? The reason I ask is because I am scared of money lodgement in my co-sponsor account coz according to him he needs to get his business partner to transfer money to him bfr he can send it to my account. But if I submit only my account I can simply show the sponsor letter from him and state in my SOP my uncle's willingness to support me that's why he transferred the said sum.

And how much do you guys think that is fair enough?
First off the only way you can prove your sponsor was the one who paid the living expenses to your account is by adding the sponsors SOA which shows the debit while your own SOA shows the credit.

If you're scared of lump sum in your sponsors account, ensure your sponsor proves that the money got to him legally by attaching evidence of the transaction source in addition to the SOAs.

The major fear of lump sum comes when the sponsor hasn't sent money to your personal account and the VO fears that money isn't really for your sponsor hence it won't be available to you.

I am planning to send in my student application, but got bad news from a friend who got his reject in 3 weeks. He seems to have put in a good application, but was rejected based on purpose of visit.

And he applied online and did his biometric in Abuja. The decision was made in
Embassy of Canada

Cinnah Caddesi 58

Turkey

Any reason why decision was made in turkey?

You need to have a little bit more faith. You are predicting doomsday on yourself already. Na wa ooh!!!
It's not like I don't have faith but I'm being practical here. I had a supervisor who agreed to accept me but later on he stopped replying my emails and he later said he already made offers to other applicants. Also the graduate coordinator stated that if I don't get a supervisor, it doesn't matter what my profile is, I'll be rejected.

I'm not feeling bad about it though as I've already gotten a fully funded offer from University of Waterloo and I've applied for my study permit.

Thanks for your input though.

They mentioned that more than 250 students applied for only 45 spots. And apparently, more than half of that 45 was reserved for domestic students.

I wasn't too surprised. I sent emails to at least 9 profs at UoT and only 1 responded that I should contact him again in a month's time. I did so and he never responded again.

By then, I had already secured a supervisor at another university. So I figured I should just try my luck and apply to UofT without a supervisor. Well I guess I essentially donated $120 to them. 3.92/4.00 GPA don't mean sh*t to UofT grin
Loool.

I had a perfect GPA of 4/4 and UofT is still messing with me. I've not gotten a response yet but it's most likely going to be a reject.

Thanks for your response.

I was actually thinking I am meant to fill the full tuition where they ask:

The cost of my studies will be........................... Tuition........... Room & Board.......... Other...............

( They didn't say the cost of one year, or what do u think?)

Are they expecting details for only one year?

Please help further clarify.

Goingforward.
They expect you to put in the first year tuition, first year living expenses (room&board) and miscellaneous expenses (others).

The visa requirement is that you show enough funds to support you in the first year of studies

Hello Nairalanders,

Thanks for your help so far. wink

Please on the (IMM 1294)- Study permit form, under the ''Details of Intended study (Funds available for my stay)''- Does that mean the total funds that i have for the program, in my account and in my sponsor's account or should that be just living expenses for one year + Tuition, or does it mean only living expenses exclusive of tuition.

What does the caption ''funds available for my stay'' mean?

Please help!

Your costs should be the cost of your tuition and living expenses for the first year.

The funds available for your stay should be equal to or more than the sum of all your costs

Experience is the best teacher. I don't just post any here if I am not sure of it. Don't let the applicant waste his money and time unecessarily. Since the applicant is doing the paper route, the VFS officials will not accept the family form you referred to from him and he will be forced to go and fill the correct form, that is the family form with siblings at their business centre which is somehow expensive.
Hello

I applied for my visa via paper route some days ago and I can confirm that the family Information form used now is IMM5707E.

IMM5645 is no longer used.
