Hello everyone. Being following this thread and hoped to come share my success story but alas I was refused.
Here goes my transcript cuz I notice not many people have being putting their visa interview transcripts.
As soon as they directed me to this woman at window 4 my heart sank cuz she just put stack of blue paper in front of her as if say na her stationery be dat. Plus she had been issuing everyone blue paper since I got there.
VO: Good morning (Frowning ) and asked for passport and ds160
Me: Good morning and hands it over
VO: So why are you going to the US
Me: I am going to have my baby
VO: where
Me: Houston Texas
Vo: where in Houston Texas ? is it oakbend medical centre? ( in my mind was almost going to ask her how she could know that cuz I don’t remember filling that in the form).
Me: Yes it is
Vo: Who is accompanying you
Me: My husband
Vo: does he have a visa
Me: Yes. would you like to see (she says yes and I give her) that’s the only document I showed her throughout
VO: have you travelled outside the country before
Me: Yes UK 20.., Dubai 20..
VO: Have you ever been refused a visa before
Me: Yes UK and Canada 20..
VO: did they give you a reason
Me: they said something about cash flow ( UK said they were not sure I could afford the trip- I used my own account at the time)
She types for a very long time just frowning. Didn’t ask to see any document, no question asked about where I work or where hubby works, who is sponsoring , account statement, assets we had and just hands over the blue paper. Sorry you are not qualified Bla bla.
I had landed property documents from my husband, account statements of almost 8M when budget estimate was just 5.1M. The main reason I was even denied those visas for the UK and Canada was that we were paying for our house at this time so our account was not that buoyant. Meanwhile hubby has both UK and US visas 5 years and 2 years respectively and he travels often but I don’t.
I am sad because I am aware that you can’t apply for the next 6 months by which time baby would have been born by God’s grace. Someone told me to try South American countries eg brazil or re-apply for Canada. I really don’t know cuz am due in the about 3 months and I just want the best for my baby.
Does Brazil make any sense at all or should I re-apply for Canada. Been on the Canada thread and it’s not that informative.
House pls advise.

Sorry to hear. The guys are quite erratic in their decisions so you really can't understand them.
You can also reapply if you have the energy and can get a closer appointment date. DW had the same experience and we reapplied after 2 days. Got the visa after all. Just make sure you meet a different person - same person is not allowed to interview you after denial.

I've been trying to pay with my Bank of America card online and it's not going through. Apparently BOA doesn't allow transactions from Nigeria. Only option left now is my Naira card, just waiting for it to be registered.

Has anyone ever used a Naira card for voa?

It bounced my naira master card at first. I didnt fuss...just went straight to use dollar visa card still nigerian bank.

Try a visa card if you have one.

Good day house. Please I’m confused with this whole visa in arrival thing. Thought we are just meant to send an email with baby’s details and a confirmation wil be sent back. Then we pay in Nigeria upon arrival. Is there another way someone is meant to do it?

you are right but you can also pay online which I advise since it is working now. I have heard of people that had it rough because their cards did not work at POE. You may want to have a US based card to be sure.

I just paid $180 for my LO visa on arrival with my Firstbank VISA Dollar card but the form has something like, 'you are to pay $90 at point of entry'. What's the experience in the house just to be sure?

Hello everyone, I had my interview and was denied, I didn’t believe it because I overprepared. I was always on this thread and read almost every visa interview. The guy that interviewed me didn’t even check a single document. Here is my transcript, please what went wrong.
VO: good morning, how are u today
Me: good morning, I’m fine (with a smile)
VO: where are you going to in the US
Me: Houston, Texas
VO: what are you going to do in the US?
Me: I’m currently pregnant and wish to go and give birth to my baby.
VO: what do u do?
Me: told him I own a fashion house even told him how many staff that are working under me and how long I have been running the business... also chipped in that my husband is sponsoring the trip.
VO: what does your husband do?
Me: told him and even mentioned that I have his company documents.
VO: how did you find out about the hospital?
Me: A friend used them and recommended them to me, then I read online reviews too. Asked if he would like to see my correspondence and appointment letter, he said he’s not interested.
VO: which country have you been to?
Me: told him Dubai and Tanzania for vacation
VO: do you have any relative you will stay with in the US?
Me: No, I made a booking and asked if he wants to see my booking reservation.
He repeated that he’s not interested in seeing any documents and brought the blue paper.

Please where did I go wrong, the interview didn’t even last more than 3mins, he was just rushing the whole thing and cutting me off like he already made up his mind that he was going to deny me. I’m so devastated and my due date is in November, do I reapply and how do I even go about getting a closer date? Is there anything wrong with my interview so I can know what to do differently?

My dear, You did nothing wrong. They are just erratic and I have seen them give visa to a lot of persons that I know are not planning to come back.
I was there with DW and my 2 yr old toddler in August and we were denied. I even made it inside with them (i have my visa already) so I can explain things better since I am the sponsor but the interview did not even get there.
The transcript was the same as your except in our own case, she was asked how she hopes to manage with our toddler. She then responded she was staying with family and that was it...the guy kept on typing until the pink paper showed up.
One more thing, this particular guy interviewed up to 7 persons (refused all of them) while the other windows were still occupied.

If you feel up to it, just reapply and pray.

My good people, was just refused visa with the pink paper.

Here is the transcript of the short interview

VO: Good morning
DW and I: Good morning
VO: What school does your son attend?
DW: He is two and not in school yet
VO: Are you all traveling together?
Myself: We will be traveling together but i will be back after a week while my wife stays for about 9 weeks.
VO: What will you be doing in the US for 9weeks?
DW: my EDD is 24Nov. Plan is to go a month earlier and come back a month after.
VO: What do you do?
DW: Medical doctor with U...
VO: and you
Myself: Bleep engineer with bleep
VO: What's going to happen with your son?
DW: I am staying with family that will provide me with support
VO: What did you travel to do in Boston
MYself: Traveled for a one-week seminar in Boston University in connection with my part-time MBA with Warwick Biz sch in UK.
VO: types plenty and was like...Sorry blah blah...it all ends in some pink paper

What could have gone wrong? He didn't ask for any evidence/documents. we thought we were just getting started with the interview before the pink paper showed up. The guy was showing plenty person pink paper. Thought about avoiding him sha.
Please advise on how soon we can reapply and how to get a closer appointment date.
Also, what can we do differently next time.

Thank you

OmoBendel24:

If your interview is successful, you will be issued a B1/B2 visa for the conference (ensure you use it for the purpose for which it was granted). This will enable you go for the conference and also go for the second trip. Meanwhile, you will not be allowed to meet the VO with them if you are not an applicant, hardly.

Thanks a lot OmoBendel24 for that guidance,
With a valid b1/b2 visa, can I make a fresh application so I can secure access with my family to the VO.
Or can I have my wife and boy apply now with me. How do we word the story for the VO?

Thanks again.

hello. I have been reading the threads and it has been quite enlightening.

I will need help on this. I am going to the US early August for a one week conference. I have a LOI that recommends i can go for a B1 visa.
However, My wife and baby will be going for childbirth sometime in October. I will of course travel with them. My questions

1. Can i get a B1 visa now for the conference and apply again sometime in August for B1/B2 visa and B2 visa for my wife towards the childbirth?
2. Is it possible for me to combine the visa for this business trip and that for the childbirth trip? How will the VO view it considering that my wife will not be travelling with me for the conference?
3. if my wife and 2 year old boy are the only applicants, can i be allowed to meet the VO with them assuming I am not an applicant?

Appreciate your kind responses.

Please help

i enjoyed this chat session.it is quite interesting and educational.
nevertheless, i would like to advise at this stage that the argument be discontinued as it is not important in your interview unless u are being interviewed to teach english lang.
i have been to so many interviews and i was successful in most.

i can assure u it doesnt matter to your prospective employer whether u say ,'my name is' or 'my names are'.
i normally use 'my name is'.
