79733139:Medicals was done separately. Principal applicant did not receive MIL at the same time as the dependents. So when all boxes were checked, the VO noticed that the principal applicant had expired medicals and being that COPR is dependent on medical expiry and the principal applicant can not get COPR without valid medicals it was necessary to send another medical instruction letter, this time for the principal applicant only. It is worth noting that i had done upfront medicals that had expired just before my ITA but they still linked the expired medicals and that's why the initial MIL was only for the dependents. I hope that makes sense now. |
trilacos:I started almost as soon as i entered the pool in Feb but my final attempt at TEF was in September, so i would say about 6 months intensively, lessons were packaged to my situation. It is important to note that i had studied upto Delf B2 level before (10 yrs or so prior to the brush up lessons). So I was already familiar/conversant with french grammar and vocabulary. I just needed a refresher course to avoid making small unnecessary errors as well as to get upto speed on the changes over the years. Languages do change over time. I hope i answered your question. best of luck. |
canadamustgo24:I would gladly share but i am not in Nigeria unfortunately, so i am not sure if it will be of any help to you. There is a certain Madame somebody (sorry i can not remember her name but i have read several reviews from people who vouch for her). Search the forum and proceed at your own risk. best of luck |
its PPR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! COME AND SEE WHAT THE LORD HAS DONE FOR ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It has been a long journey and i am grateful that it has finally come to an end. I apologize in advance if its a long read. It all began with Wes application in the December of 2022 and my IELTS just about a week after WES application. It took WES the standard 6 weeks processing plus 2 weeks to get my transcripts sent to WES, totaling 2 months. On the 1st Feb i was ready to create my EE profile and so i did. My IELTS was an overall band 7 and WES was a 3 year bachelor degree, putting me at roughly 320 something CRS especially being that my age was not working to my advantage. With this in mind i quickly sought to increase my scores; french was the only option along with redoing my IELTS to max it the second time around, which i knew i was capable of doing (don't come for me my village people, i know my english language skills ). The reason i didn't do well enough the first time around is because of various factors (but that's a story for another day). In my state of desperation, i ventured into the idea of going via the study route but i knew carrying my many kids would have been too costly and i think my brain has expired so pulling it off would have proved taxing on my mental health and my pocket. I resolved to abandon that idea after speaking to a friend of a friend in Canada who proved to be pivotal in my journey. She shared with me an email from IRCC promoting the plan to target francophones in the upcoming immigration strategies. I read the email and realized that french was going to be my strategy, not only to increase points but to get the upper hand. By this time, i am already in the pool and looking for a french tutor to reawaken my french language skill as it had been about 10 years since i last took french language courses at Alliance Francaise. I managed to ask around and got a very good french teacher who agreed to do personalized classes/private tutoring to make sure i meet my goal in the short time i had given myself. Soon my teacher was confident in my abilities and encouraged me to make my first attempt. Which i did and didnt do as well as i should have, bringing me back to the drawing board to restrategize; giving emphasis on my weakest points. I fully immersed myself in the language, listening to podcasts, watching movies, listening to french music, (i recommend Lara Fabian and ofcourse Celine Dion). I was once again ready to make an attempt at TEF. I did and the new scores allowed me get a well needed raise to the ranks of CRS 380s. The cutoff at the time was somewhere in the upper 400s and the only thing i could think to do was to redo my IELTS. It was now around October of 2023. I considered the IT course mentioned here a number of times but decided to start with the IELTS retake. Long story short as i was getting ready to retake my IELTS in Jan 2024, when lo alas, I received an NOI form OINP for the French skilled priority draws. I knew i had to fork out an extra 1500CAD and so i began to amass it. Just as I was working on that, I then received an ITA from the federal french CBD draw thus beginning my journey to PPR. In a nutshell, allow me to share my timeline: EE profile creation: 1 Feb 2023 OINP ITA : 18 Jan 2024 ( idid not go through with it) ITA: 1 Feb 2024 (just hours before the expiry of my profile... na God oo) AOR: 26 Mar 2024 BIL/MIL : 1 May 2024 BIL linked: 15 May 2024 MEP: 22 May 2024 ADR: 31 May 2024 2nd MIL: 31 May 2024 2nd MEP: 8 Jun 2024 FD: 10 Jun 2024 PPR: 12 Jun 2024 I can only say thank you to everyone on this platform, all questions answered, all the wealth of information, all well wishers, all prayers, all the friends i made, everything and everyone. May everyone be awarded their PPR at the soonest. Special thanks to @honeysweetest, @ednut, @jasperonyx, @graciouswords. To everyone who posts advice on the platform, some questions i did not need to ask as they were already answered in other people's requests for information, thank you for your time and your selflessness. We can't do it without you. In conclusion: Glory be to God, Most High, with Whom all things are possible. He says and He does. Great is His faithfulness and love. Its with a grateful heart, i sign out. |
LawyerBB:my dear, 1) he did not insult you, he simply asked a rhetoric question. don't be so quick to be on the defensive; because firstly you are at the people's mercy and secondly its uncalled for. See my nickname is leopardinatree, but am i really a leopard in a tree? this is a platform where anyone can use any nickname they want even POTUS , there is someone called mrtrudeau if i am not mistaken, does that mean it is really mr trudeau? so relax, you could be a lawyer by profession or be using a pseudonym. 2) lets get to the main point: in any case, use your own maiden name. you can add your spouse (once he officially becomes your spouse) with a different name. not everyone changes their name to their husband's name. its perfectly normal to maintain your maiden name and the marriage certificate will act as the glue between the two of you. i for example have not changed my name and i have applied with my husband and it has not created any issues. on that note, once you change your name, you will end up having issues with your academic certificates, passport, land ownership etc. it just opens up a can of worms in my opinion. even legally it is advisable to maintain your name for ease of reference (not saying that you may separate) but should it come to that, (God forbid) you will again start the process of changing back. Just maintain your maiden name whatever the case (again, just my opinion). 3) now comes the important part, firstly do research on both options. the pros and cons and the affordability factor as that may pose a problem along the way. calculate how much it would cost you as a student and how much it would cost you as a PR (both have a lot of associated and indirect costs). PR will require language tests and certificate evaluation, perhaps learning a new language (look at costs and time). Student route requires a heavy financial capital (increased from 10k to 20k upkeep excluding tuition fees etc). and as you said, your wedding plans are on the ground, consider that you will need upkeep for your dependant and also consider if you are to bear children soon after your wedding (costs of student health insurance and childbirth and all associated costs). if you were to ask me, i would always recommend the PR route unless otherwise. that being the case, i would advise you to read page 1 thoroughly, research thoroughly and see who will be the better candidate between your spouse and yourself. even if you are the main applicant, do not change your name to his (again my opinion) even after marriage as there is not actual need for that. act as a singleton until after marriage in which case, you will add him later to your application along with marriage certificate. you can update the EE profile at any time. and if you use his name, you will fail to back that up with documentation. unless you begin to change all your documents to reflect the change as soon as you apply. your passport issue date will say (for example 2023) and you created your EE profile in 2024, your wedding took place in 2025. how then will you apply using said passport and said profile when you did not yet legally acquire the name at the time of profile creation?make your application easy and straight forward for the visa officer. dont confuse his head with dates and names. i hope you will pick-out the important points and they will be useful to you in your decision making. in conclusion please behave like a lawyer who has encountered many civil, family/inheritance, divorce, criminal and whatever other cases and not like a naive infatuated young lady. every detail matters no matter how small. these are big decisions you are making. get your head out of the clouds and put on your big girl pants. it is not meant as an insult. sisterly advice from someone who has probably seen the sun before you. all the best |
studycenter:Thank you Sir, now before you charge me for my laziness, i have gone over page 1 religiously but i still have 1 question. My profile is about to expire in a few days, how do i go about getting the NOI to the new profile? |
Please, quick question regarding change of employment status: does one need to have a job at the time of ITA? is it possible to be unemployed at the time but still be eligible for a particular ITA draw or must you be in the employment which you are claiming points for? Also what if you get employment within days of the ITA but it is in a different teer than the one that was drawn on ITA? |
kyle2009:No need for change of name. In fact it is better to not change to avoid unnecessary ADRs in future. I think the marriage certificate will have your maiden name which matches your passport and WES and all other documents. Stay consistent. |
America001:You can open a WES account and try to input that certificate and see whether it is accepted. Also, it is possible to mention on your wes account that you will be evaluating another certificate i think but i am not sure, search the website thoroughly (FAQs should answer some of your questions too). If that is not possible, you can always evaluate your masters when it is ready, if it is within 6 months of your first evaluation you only pay an extra 100CAD. In my opinion you are better off entering the pool and later updating your profile than waiting outside the pool to have all your ducks in a row. Also bear in mind the age factor and the tie-breaker rule will not be in your favour as you continue to delay. There is a 67 point eligibility you have to meet for EE pool and your age plays a role in it. In short, if you are hesitating due to the cost of doing repetitive WES, that cost is nothing compared to ineligibility caused by a delay. Enter the pool ASAP my friend. |
AyabaS:I think the employer's reference letter mentions the compensation along with the working hours and responsibilities. Is it not so? If it is then that serves as proof of compensation. What did she use for proof of funds? |
Greatnewsalways:Why did you update with the accounting job when you already received ITA? The thing is that you received the ITA in a healthcare specific draw so your application must reflect the same. After receiving ITA, I believe any additional points will not work in your favour or vice versa. I think you should have sought advice before updating so as to weigh the repercussions first. But please help us understand your situation by responding to my first question. That way, the gurus will be able to advise accordingly. |
Mayfair19:I think he would work as a family connection in Manitoba but in Alberta they do not accept uncle and that too mother's brother let alone mother's cousin. Alberta requires immediate family ie: parents, siblings etc. Saskatchewan accepts uncle but i think its the sibling of your parent and not their cousin. EE pool accepts parents, children, siblings and inlaws of the PA. As for the second part of your question, everything throughout the process will require support documents. they will not just take your word for it. So if you were to list him down as a relative that gives you points then you will have to show proof in the form of birth certificates along with his residency/citizenship docs or even proof of his living in any particular province you are applying to. Bear in mind that Alberta picks from the EE pool so you will not initially apply directly to the province unless you have a valid job offer. Your best bet is to enter the pool and work your way out from there. Every claim must be supported by legal/official documents (the misrepresentation part comes in when you fail to support your claims). |
Krys993:Have you made any progress with your profile submission? As I was doing some research I came across page 1 post 5. Perhaps that is the reason why. If you selected Quebec then you are ineligible. Let us know how it works out so we can also learn from your experience. Thanks |
haywhy80:Sorry about that. Although I don't have similar experience, I am just trying to decipher what could be the problem. Has the profile expired? If so, reassess yourself on the 67 points for eligibility. |
Enculer2:Thank you so much. This is indeed very helpful. |
cherishyy:I did not mean that you need a relative or a job offer. I meant that if it is possible to show that you were shortlisted for a job or that you have started actively seeking accommodation in the province it would go a long way. Intent can be proved in various ways. For some provinces it is an exploratory visit, for some it is attendance of a virtual immigration session etc. So I advised to revisit the OINP website for clarity. |
Krys993:Please make sure that the amount you mentioned for proof of funds corresponds to your family size and be sure to say yes to the question : do you have sufficient funds for settlement in Canada. If you give a negative response or incorrect figure (less than required for your family size which includes yourself and any accompanying members), then you will be rendered ineligible. Note that even if you do not actually have the funds now, by virtue of the fact that you plan on relocating, you plan to acquire the required funds. So respond positively and work on the funds acquisition while inside the pool. Good luck |
cherishyy:i think for the intent to reside in ontario he should study the oinp website because it has information on what is accepted as intent to reside in the province. i know for some provinces if you do not have a relative you can use documents showing arranged accommodation or job interviews/ offer letters from companies in the province. also if there is proof that you have arranged school for kids etc. again, study the oinp website, it should have detailed information to guide accordingly. |
GraciousWords:Thank you so much. Very detailed and very encouraging. I just updated my scores. Step by step like you said. I have gotten the much needed advice from those on ground, as for my other questions I will take to the main EE thread. God bless you. |
Enculer2:Thank you so much. i recognize you from the TEF thread. Your input is invaluable to me, i appreciate it. i will try to convince him once more to do the ielts. i will definitely dm you along my journey. God bless you. |
Hello, I am a bit perplexed and wondering if anyone could share some info with me. I just managed to get the required french level for French CBD draws and much as i am excited about updating my EE profile i am also wondering if i have better chances in Quebec's Arrima as compared to Ontario french draws. Another thing i am worried about is the 1500 OINP application fee as i continue to amass my POF and thinking that Quebec is a better option as it has a lower POF requirement. My fear is that Quebec may be difficult to survive for the rest of my family as i am the only french proficient member of the family. Just to put into perspective: 1. i have an active profile in both EE and Arrima 2. should i update both profiles with my french results? 3. where do i stand a higher chance considering my CRS is currently in the ranges of 300-330 before NCLC 7 french update 4. hubby has no eca or ielts and doesnt plan on pursuing either 5. will my family manage the mainly french speaking Quebec environment, in terms of hubby getting a job as non french speaker, children coping with public school where i assume french is the medium of instruction? I know i am putting the cart before the horse here but i would like to make an informed decision before i take any further action with regards to updating my profiles. I understand that i am not guaranteed ITA either way but better to ask that to be sorry i didnt. thanks in anticipation. |
Honeysweetest:Now where will you get the official information when after all they owe us nothing, least of all, their draw plans. For the sake of sanity and peace of mind, patience is all we can afford. The draws ought to resume sooner or later. relax my dear. ![]() |
Cherie04:Nobody knows for sure but for the sake of speculation, perhaps the new minister is awaiting the mandate letter from PM Trudeau. Or perhaps he is still getting acquainted with the office and working on the most pressing issues left on his table by the former minister. Also, speculation has it that the quota is almost full for EE for 2023, but PNP route still has room. Again, these are just opinions and speculations I gathered from various immigration consultants but nobody really knows why there has been no draw for a month. In other news, the parents and grandparents scheme is underway for 2023. So perhaps they are working on other routes outside of EE as everyone deserves a fair chance regardless of what route. People, please don't come for me, I already stated that it is not official information but rather speculations. |
Is it true that TEF format is about to change? And if so what are the changes we are likely to encounter. Please anyone with reliable information on TEF exam format change. From what I gathered they will no longer have 60 questions in 40 minutes for Comprehension Orale. It will be 40 questions in 40 minutes. they will not use the section A,B,C and D format as we know it, instead they will use real recordings from tv5 monde, RFI and France 24. So one can no longer cram but must understand the recording and answer accordingly. For comprehension ecrite , there will also be changes. Less number of questions but more long text questions. The changes are said to take effect in October 2023. Anyone with more information, please share |
Sheney:Please if you don't mind, share with us, in which of the select countries do you currently reside.? just curious. As for POF, perhaps you could do a search in the forum as the question has been asked before (several times). |
tshtsh:The bolded is the reason why we tend to discourage going as a student as opposed to PR. Don't get me wrong, study is a great opportunity to open doors but as you mentioned it is far cheaper on PR plus you get to move with family plus you are not working against time to get the almighty PR. Study route requires you to plan appropriately otherwise you could find yourself stuck with an expiring bridging work permit trying to attain PR or worse you could be affected by category based draws which could delay your CEC based PR. All i am saying is, going on PR doesn't not necessarily equate to not studying or reaping the benefits of studies in Canada because PR does not stop the candidate from preferring to study rather than to work in the initial years of landing. PR is simply a safety net. What they decide to do while on PR is unlimited as opposed to on TRV. But anyway that was my two cents, they already have the study visa so they will obviously proceed with that route. And from the writer's perspective, I assume they opted for study as a pathway to PR which is probably why they have double intent and also why the husband wishes to attain PR as soon as possible. That is the angle I used to advise. But I stand corrected. |
Emma549:From what i know, your eligibility for PR will only come through once your wife completes her studies. Before spouses used to take advantage of getting PR before completion of studies and thus making the student pay less in fees and sometimes discontinuation of studies etc. For this reason new measures were put in place to ensure the spouse gains eligibility for PR upon completion of principal applicant's studies. My advice would have been to find a way to increase your wife's CRS without having to go on study permit. But that is probably my lack of POF talking. The amount spent on the study route POF for student and accompanying spouse could have been used for POF for PR and wife could have studied french at a much smaller cost and gained required points or selection via french category. I feel it would have been a more feasible, less tedious process. What can be done to increase your wife's CRS? 2 years MSc is just too long to wait. What about french classes in canada along with MSC? I am focusing on your wife because she has better chances in my opinion unless you try for STEM category. Perhaps maxing the ielts if not already done. |
damselhoney:All in CE. Two long texts were repeated and one "fill in the blanks ". If you do enough past papers you are bound to come across atleast one repetition. I also came across them in the past papers I tried and just thought it was an error. But as it turns out, they are also repeated (by chance) in the official exam. The repeated questions awarded me atleast 5 free answers. I came across a youtube chanel for morocco tef and tcf exams, it was an absolute gold mine. Another case in point is that sometimes they repeat questions from TCF exams so don't only stick to practising TEF questions. I can not remember the youtube channel offhand but if you need it, I can search and get back to you. Thanks for the well wishes, I have not yet restarted studying, busy with personal matters but I should in about a week. As such i would be grateful for any advice from your and others personal experience. |
PurpleHibiscus7:Hey! I am so very grateful. Everything you said is just what I needed to know. First of all a big hearty congrats, the gap between your two results shows that you really put in the hardwork. I also got my results yesterday and sadly I am yet to make B2 in two components. EE -B2+, CE- B2-, CO -B1 and EO -B1. I can not say I am too disappointed because after a 10yr gap, it is somewhat encouraging that I could even make it to that 1 B2+. In retrospect my CO was not upto par because of a system glitch too. And just like in your case, the examiners said that its completely normal and should not have any effect on my performance. I was issued a new candidate number only for the CO as the entire thing stuck for 10 minutes and so I had to restart that particular test. I wonder if there is a possibility that results could get mixed up because my placement test put me at B2 for CO. My tutor was also surprised that I got B1 because he felt that CO was where my strength lied. Oh well. Ha ha ha, the EO was just like in your case. I have never known 5 minutes to be so long in my whole entire life. The examiner literally had to tell me, "vous n'avez pas d'autres questions?" ... The section B now, 10 minutes of lethal brutality to other people's language.. The struggle is real. . Anyway that's that for round 1.With that said, I am also to resit the paper, probably this September to try and get the ideal scores. I feel 2-10 points is not worth updating on my profile because the last draw saw a cutoff of 435 (2 august 2023 Express entry French draw). With my current CRS it will be a waste of time adding the 10 or so points. Thanks for the advise for virtual immersion, I am on it with immediate effect. I agree that this time around the tutor will only be guiding because, as you so rightly put it, we have laid down all the groundwork. Incase you want a French chat buddy please feel free to reach out, I need all the practice I can get. Best wishes for your final attempt! Yes, i have faith that this is your last sitting, so go and smash it! Make us proud. ; ![]() A bientot.! |
Enculer2:got it! thanks. |
GraciousWords:25th July 2023 OINP French draw: CRS 321-374. I wonder if that could be an indication that the Federal French draw will dip even lower than the current record of 375 CRS. Definitely definitely motivational. Now if they only remove the 2 months mandatory gap between two TEF attempts and allow us squander our money on as many attempts as required to secure that NCLC 7 at the earliest possible convenience. |
79733139:Massive congrats to you. I wish to get such scores. I also noticed that there were some repetitive questions as I had attempted past papers and came across two or three such instances in the official exam I attempted a few days ago. Because I have no time to waste, I will continue to prepare just in case my EO makes me rewrite the entire paper. With that said, please assist with access to the 85 long text for CE. I know first hand just how important it is to master them. I also noticed that it took only a week for your results to be released and not the 1 month I kept hearing about. With that said, any other advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. |
). The reason i didn't do well enough the first time around is because of various factors (but that's a story for another day).

The examiner literally had to tell me, "vous n'avez pas d'autres questions?"
