I was here when one mama kept having recurring miscarriage. We cried with her and prayed with her. Then she finally carried to term and alas she lost the baby after a few weeks of birth.
A few years later, God answered her with twins!
Even she herself never knew she was pregnant because she left her husband and the moved from the town. After separation, she said she wasn't bothered about her missing period as her cycle was messed up with all the miscarriages and what not. By the time she realised she was pregnant, she was almost past first trimester. She gave birth to twins.

Everyone has their own trial but be reassured that God won't give you more than you can handle.
Please take heart.
Rest and let your body heal. Then try again.
Your rainbow baby is around the corner.


And please let's not go lax with prayer Monday, there's a reason we started it in the first place.
Prayer is a shield and the same time a weapon.
Pray as a group.
We are not here to just sit down and count down on days. This is a community and we are responsible for one another.

I literally just googled your question, and I'm responding with the best response I saw
(Please note, if you have a high risk pregnancy your procedures are different, if you don't know what a high risk pregnancy is, chances are you don't have one but knowing what it is, may help you underatand yours and the mother next to you)

1. Contact your doctor (if you don't have one, you can start researching hospitals)

2. Take a folic acid supplements everyday

3. Change life style habits that can harm your baby (drinking and smoking are the apex of that list, but not everything )

4. Eat a healthy diet and avoid certain foods

5. Stay fit dir an exercise, watch what medicine you take, relax where you can.

6. Telling people about your pregnancy is a personal decision, depending on where you work you should tell your employer so you can avoid strenuous activities, the first 3 months are the most fragile state of pregnancy and when most miscarriages occur, the general rule of thumb in telling people for me is simple, if you are comfortable talking to them about a miscarriage then tell them if you are not then consider telling them after 12 weeks, of course as a Nigerian there are also other things to consider, depending on your belief and circumstance

Good morning mamas. I'm new in the group. I guess I can say I am team June.

After attending our first antenatal class, I found some things quite odd, actually 1 thing in particular, (I have to say it was quite odd for me as a man in a class full of women, but the nurse/midwife made me feel very comfortable) the doctor advised mothers to express breast milk, but to not feed the baby with a nipple (on the feeding bottle) I was curious as to how and why this is so, apparently (and I don't know if this is just a peculiar case or if it's the general teaching) the reason for this is because of risk of infection, so it's better to use a cup and spoon. I let it go initially but my curiosity wasn't satisfied, so upon after classes questioning, the doctor said, the nipples have more openings than a spoon so its easier for it to get infected than a spoon, especially when they are not cleaned diligently, so instead of hammering on the cleaning they just advice mothers to not use it, please what is your advice on the subject.

these days she complains about turning stomach most in the morning and in the night, pls what do you think she can do. The doctor said it is normal the last time we visited our hospital. wit you experience what do you think she can do?

She is probably experiencing morning sickness, is she throwing up or its just nausea?

I have been TTC for 5 years but had to stop for a while because my marriage ended. I am back on the journey again for 2019.
I have endometriosis and age is not on my side. and after several failed iui ,diagnosis of blocked tubes, I want to go with ivf with donor sperm .
Please,has anyone used gynescope port Harcourt? What is the experience like? And nisa premiere. Port Harcourt is closer to me. But I won't mind going to a clinic in Lagos or abuja.

After using both hospitals I can say based on experience that they are very good options, we tried Nisa prime in Abuja before gynescope in PH and had our testimony in PH, for Nisa we tried to get a discount and was told a cheaper price but by the time they added all the extra bills it was even more than we bargained, so we didn't make the same mistake in gynescope, there we paid the bill and there was no hidden charges up until the pregnancy test, then you are covered till the 12th week (but they give you some extra drugs to support the pregnancy till 12th week, we got the drugs cheaper from Ebus pharmacy, but if your not sure of the drugs source, considering how much you've spent just pay for it at the hospital, when you get to this point you will have everything to be grateful for)

Update: DW is doing very fine after 7 days in the hospital, the spinal headache is gone and we give the lord all the glory, the whole experience will be part of our BS.
We will be registering for antenatal this week, immediately she's up to it, the only other side is the whole family knows about the pregnancy now, so we didn't announce the way we wanted.

We were advised to register for antenatal in a teaching hospital as well (FTF) and the only 2 teaching hospital I know close to us is UPTH and BMH, please can anyone share experiences or advice?

I am not a pharmacist but I think UTIs are best treated with antibiotics based on your lab results, so a doctor should read the lab results and prescribe one that might not effect the baby, I may be wrong, I have being wrong before.

My brother is a pharmacist. When I had UTI, he recommended - Cephalexin 500mg. It's a pregnancy friendly antibiotics. I didn't use though. Because I started feeling better the next day after taking lots of water and urinating many times.

On advice from our Gyne, we had a cerclage done, after the surgery DW started noticing headaches when she moves her neck, we were advised to take paracetamol but the pain became unbearable after we got home, we had to go back to the hospital and she was admitted, her nausea and vomiting didn't help the situation. Doctors said it's a Spinal headache, from her moving her neck too soon after the surgery, so it caused a CSF leak, but after my own research the moving neck too soon theory is an old teaching, I don't know how common this is and what causes it but everyone agrees it generally subsides after 48 hours, still not sure what to do while waiting for the 48hrs.

Part 2 (Pregnancy and delivery)

This pregnancy was very eventful tbh. I used a total of 4 hospitals for different reasons and seem to have experienced all the pregnancy symptoms there is. Actually, it felt like whenever WTE (Pregnancy app) sends me a weekly pregnancy update I start experiencing the pregnancy..............

The Lord is wonderful.

You should seriously consider writing short stories, I almost went to get popcorn the narration takes one deep in the middle of the plot. I could even see the color of the operating theatre in my mind. Congratulations again

Does anyone else find it weird when watsapp people buzz you to tell you you look preggy?. I mean you ignore all other status to tell me that?. How do you respond to that pls I just feel it’s a private/delicate journey not many people need to know about. How do you respond to these foolish questions

Today was a very scary day, my wife called me that she was bleeding and I rushed home, after calling the doctor they told us not to worry and monitor the bleeding, but after trying to conceive for 7 years and 1 miscarriage there's no way you can't not worry, we went to the hospital and insisted on a scan and for the first time ever I saw my babies move, not just a heart beat (we are in week 12), I almost cried when I left the hospital thinking about it. The doctor said we would be fine, they explained it is most likely two of the four eggs transferred that didn't implant that caused the bleeding, and we should stop taking one of our medications.

I have been an observer here for some time, but it's about time I opt in and seek some guidance from the experience mamas.
Currently,wifey is like 12 weeks gone. The series of event we have been experiencing for some days now is heartburn and vomiting, mostly after eating or taking water. I don't know if there is a better way to go about it.
This is our first time getting this far.
I will appreciate all advices and recommendation I can get from here. Thanks in anticipation

Seems like we are in the same boat, I tried everything from Ginger biscuits, saline crackers to bournvita 3in1 chocolate drink, they all helped a bit with the vomiting, it became so bad wifey was throwing up 3 to 4 times a day, the doctor gave medication but she didn't take them she just took the hot chocolate drink, it's getting better now but from what I have read on this thread and advice it will get better in the next couple of weeks just hang in there (#DiaryOfAPregnantFather)

Thanks my darling cappo! Hope you're doing great? So what he was saying was that with plus sized preggos, monitoring fetal heart beat and contractions during labour is harder and with the slight bp issues I have, they would need to monitor me as well as possible. I guess what makes the decision harder is that he is still saying I can opt for vaginal birth, as there are no strong indications that I can't go for that. As for after care, in between my husband and my mum, I should be fine if I opt for CS...just worried about having to spend time recovering as opposed to spending time with my baby and being active.

Like stated earlier speak with your doctor about the likelihood of a CS if you opt for VD, then weight your options from there, and just know whatever decision you make is the best decision
