7 Simple Steps To Detect Fake Bank Alerts

The introduction of cashless policies is a wonderful thing, but it has been used by scammers to swindle consumers and steal their money. It has recently gotten worse, given the ongoing implementation of the Naira redesign strategy.

Nigerians now have restricted access to cash. Mobile transfers have only been utilized as a last option. In the previous two weeks, the amount of transactions through this channel has been tremendous.

The emergence of bogus credit warnings is a problem with mobile money transfers using USSD codes or banking apps. There is also the issue of not receiving credit alerts as a result of network faults.

Cashless Nigeria is a program implemented by the Central Bank of Nigeria in 2012 to reduce excesses in cash handling in the Nigerian federation.

It imposed cash handling fees on daily withdrawals of more than N500,000 for individuals and N3,000,000 for corporations (N3,000,000.00).

False transfer alerts, which can be transmitted via text messages, emails, and mobile banking apps, are unfortunately frequent in Nigeria.

Scammers utilize fake notifications to fool victims into thinking they’ve received a payment, then demand that products or services be supplied before the payment clears.

As a result, the victim may lose their goods or services without receiving payment.

However, here are the common ways to spot a fake money transfer:

Examine the sender’s email or phone number. Scammers frequently use fake email addresses or phone numbers that look exactly like legitimate ones, so double-check the sender’s information.

Check for spelling and grammar errors. Genuine banks and financial institutions typically have stringent quality control procedures in place, and their communications are unlikely to contain obvious errors.

Check with the sender to confirm the transaction. If you receive a money transfer alert from someone you know, call or message them to confirm that the transfer was initiated by them.

Don’t click on any links or download any attachments. Scammers may include malicious links or attachments in their fake alerts that can install malware on your device or steal your personal information.

Check your account balance. If you receive a money transfer alert but your account balance doesn’t reflect the transfer, it’s likely a fake.

Be cautious with urgent requests. Scammers may try to put you under pressure to act immediately, but legitimate money transfers typically take a few business days to process.

Use reliable sources. If you have any doubts about the legitimacy of a money transfer alert, contact your bank or financial institution directly using a phone number or email address from their official website.

InvestmentDon’t Throw Your Old Naira Notes Away, Buhari, Emefiele Will Expire On Saturday, by letitrainnow(op): 11:02am On Feb 22, 2023
A former governor of Edo state, Adams Oshiomhole, has urged the people of the state to hold onto their old naira notes until the end of President Muhammadu Buhari's administration.

Speaking to some of his supporters at the Jattu market in Auchi Edo North, the former chairman of the All Progressives Congress condemned the new monetary policy of the Federal Government led by the governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele.

Oshiomhole, in a trending video seen by Legit.ng said Buhari has no option but to obey the Supreme Court's order on the implementation and deadline for swapping of old notes for new ones.

Speaking to the people in Pidgin English, Oshiomhole expressed worry that Buhari's administration did not implement such a policy on the eve of his 2023 re-election bid.

He said:

“All this wahala wey Buhari put for currency change, my hand no dey inside. Our party don tell Buhari, wait if you want change currency, you should not change ham during election.
"Wetin you no change during your time, you wan make ham spoil another pesin time, e no good. At this point, nah only good we go dey fear.
“He has to obey the Supreme Court. Supreme Court judgement is superior to the pronouncement of the president.
"That is the Nigerian law. Under Nigerian Democracy, the Supreme Court once it pronounced, the president must obey. Because every where I go, I disassociate myself. Because the truth is, the money in your hand, no be you print ham. The colour wey e wear. No be you choose ham."
noting that the old notes are still legal tender across the country, the former governor urged the market people and business owners not to throw away their money as this administration will expire after the presidential election on Saturday, February 25.

His words:

“Nah them choose ham. If the say dey want to change it, make them give you the new ones. Now they want to remove the old ones, they no give you the new ones.
"So if you have the old money, don’t throw it away. On this matter, President Buhari is on his own. Your Naira will remain valid according to the Supreme Court. Don’t throw away your Naira, keep it.
“By the time you finish voting on Saturday, Emefiele the Central Bank Governor, will expire. Your money will not expire. But the president will expire."

A lot of stakeholders have expressed concern over the Fbruary 10 deadline for the new Naira policy by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), describing it as a good policy hampered by poor implementation. The Supreme Court also gave a restraining Order asking the CBN to halt its deadline. What’s your take on the whole scenario?
BusinessHow To Start From Scratch by letitrainnow(op): 5:01pm On Feb 19, 2023
When you are starting from scratch, start-up capital is a major problem.

But then, we should never allow it to become a handicap.

That's why we start small.

Richard Branson started out selling magazines.

The owner of Innoson was an 'Apprentice'

if you don't have a rich uncle or a Father who is a millionaire it doesn't mean you have bad luck, it just means you've got to put in more work.

Go to my signature and learn how you can start selling other people products for hefty commissions .

And remember, while others are buying ipads, chasing girls with their money - pump yours into your dreams. Get more leads, sell more and remember nobody can save you except yourself

Discipline is also important, it's not just enough to have big dreams. If you spend more time on your phone than you do chasing your dream - smash the phone (for your own good).

If your friends are negative people who try to make you feel you don't have what it takes to achieve - bounce them.

And then, FOCUS. keep moving.

BusinessHow To Check NIN Number On MTN, Glo, Airtel, 9mobile & Online by letitrainnow(op): 4:46pm On Feb 11, 2023
How to Check NIN Number on MTN, Glo, Airtel, 9mobile & Online

Learn how to quickly and easily check your NIN number on MTN, Glo, Airtel, 9mobile, and online. Discover simple steps for checking your NIN via dialer or the NIMC website and avoid potential SIM card blockage.

How to Check NIN Number

Have you linked your National Identity Number (NIN) with your phone number yet? If you haven’t, you better hurry because the telecommunication companies (MTN, Glo, Airtel, and 9Mobile) are getting serious about this.

If you can’t recall your NIN, your SIM card could be blocked. Don’t worry, I got you covered. Here’s how to quickly check your NIN on all these networks and online.

What’s NIN & How Does it Work?

Before getting into how to check NIN number let’s know more about NIN. The National Identity Number is a set of 11 random digits assigned to a Nigerian citizen after successful enrollment.

To get your NIN, the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) collects your demographic data, ten fingerprints, head-to-shoulder facial images, and digital signature, and records them in their database.

But don’t worry, you won’t have to go all the way to NIMC’s head office every time you need to access your information. Once you’ve been assigned your NIN, an 11-digit code will be linked to your bio-data, and that’s it. No one else can claim it. You’re verified for life, even in death.

What’s the Purpose of NIN?

The NIN is used for anything that requires identity verification in Nigeria. You can use it for:

Obtaining your National e-ID card
Traveling (International passport application & acquisition)
Opening personal bank accounts
Getting your driver’s license
Obtaining your Permanent Voters’ Card
Participating in the National Health Insurance Scheme
Paying taxes
Transactions related to your contributory pension scheme
Accessing welfare and other relevant services from the Nigerian government
Transactions with social security implications
Land transactions subject to the Land Use Act
How to Get Your NIN?
If you’re 16 or older, visit any NIMC enrolment center near you and bring a supporting document with you. Your details will be cross-checked on the NIN verification portal to make sure you haven’t registered before.

If you haven’t, you’ll proceed with the registration. If you have, your old NIN will be retrieved for you. And the best part, all these processes are free (except for printing and lamination, which usually costs ₦100 or less).

Documents Needed to Register Your NIN

To register your NIN, all you need is your Bank Verification Number (BVN) and any of the following documents:

Old National ID Card
Driver’s License
Voter’s card (Temporary or Permanent)
Nigerian International passport
Certificate of Origin
Attestation letter from a prominent ruler in your community
Birth certificate
Declaration of age
Attestation letter from religious/traditional leader
NHIS ID card
Government staff ID card
Registered/recognized private organization staff ID card
School ID Card (private/public)
Tax Clearance certificate
Valid immigration documents
Nigerian Commission for Refugees (NCFR) Refugee Certificate
Refugee ID card
Refugee Factsheet

How to Check NIN Number on MTN, Glo, Airtel, 9mobile
The process to check your NIN number on different networks is similar. Here’s what you need to do:

Launch the dialer app on your phone
Dial *346#
Select the “NIN Retrieval” option (option 1)
You’ll be notified that the service will cost ₦20 and will be deducted from your airtime balance
If you have enough balance, select option 1 to continue
Your request will be processed and your NIN number will be displayed
How to Check NIN Number Online
If you don’t want to go through the process of checking your NIN on your mobile network, you can also check it online. Here’s how:

Visit the NIMC website at https://www.nimc.gov.ng
Click on the “NIN Retrieval” option on the homepage
Enter your mobile number linked to your NIN in the space provided
Click on the “Get NIN” button
You will receive a text message containing your NIN number
It’s that simple! With these steps, you can easily check your NIN number on MTN, Glo, Airtel, 9mobile, and online. It’s important to note that there may be a small fee charged for checking your NIN online, so make sure you have enough funds in your account to cover it.

In conclusion, linking your NIN to your phone number is an important step to take as it is required by the Nigerian government. By following the steps outlined in this article, you can easily check your NIN number and make sure your SIM card is not blocked. If you haven’t registered for your NIN yet, be sure to visit a nearby NIMC enrolment center and bring along the required documents.

PoliticsSupreme Court Temporarily Halts Ban Of Old Naira Notes As Legal Tender by letitrainnow(op): 6:02pm On Feb 08, 2023
What you should know: The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court had earlier barred the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and President Muhammadu Buhari and 27 commercial banks from suspending or interfering with the currency redesign terminal date of February 10 or issuing any directive contrary to the said date.

13 political parties out of the 18 political parties in Nigeria have threatened to withdraw from participating in the February 25 and March 11, 2023, general elections, if the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) extends the February 10 deadline for the naira swap.

Kaduna, Zamfara, and Kogi States dragged the Federal Government to Supreme Court over the scarcity of old and new Naira notes due to the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN)’s naira redesign policy.

The state governments who said they are worried by the effects the CBN naira redesign policy is having on the residents of their states, are seeking a restraining order by the Supreme Court to compel the government and CBN from implementing the policy.
