For a man who is not fond of giving people justice, Governor Godwin Obaseki has many demands from justice. Where was the justice he gave after denying 14 State House of Assembly members their inauguration after they had been duly elected?

Alternatively, where was his sense of justice when he, in addition to his executive duties, became a court of law unto himself and denied people their legitimate sources of livelihood by destroying their businesses and properties? Where was the justice when he swept away over 300 political appointees late last year in a bid to wipe away those he felt were opposition to his views and opinions?

Those democratically elected council chairmen he removed from office in Etsako East and West, Egor and Esan West have not forgotten the injustice they suffered at his hands - why should Obaseki the tyrant get justice?

Although his recently published academic certifications point to a frightening degree of academic incompetence, there is a tendency to assume that exposure to sophistication, wisdom and constant ascription of the sobriquet “technocrat governor” to his person would have made Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo state amiable to the finer points of democracy, stratagem and governance.

Three years ago, the people, happy that he purged Ring Road of thugs in the night, whilst they yet slumbered, called him “Wake and See” governor. The traitorous dark horse then galloped on the crest of the people’s acceptance to demolish a certain shopping complex belonging to an APC chieftain, Chief Osamede Adun (aka Bob Izua). What people did not know was that he was simply a vengeful man on a vindictive vendetta.

His veneer of altruism held in the face of media onslaught. He had a powerful media team he had wheedled into believing he was up to a lot of good for the people of the state. They repelled attack after attack until the people were sure he was the real deal – a son of the soil out to spoil them with good governance like Santa with gifts on a Christmas morning.

Now it is clear that the people had never really woken. They had been asleep all the while to his whims and caprices. The first to wake up to the technocrat’s trickery was his close media aide, John Mayaki. He had seen Governor Obaseki for who he was and left him years ago. Now, the state is waking up to see his true nature of mere tyranny and revenge.

His party has turned its back on him, so he gazetted a series of regulations in favour of the opposition party. His Chief of Staff, Mr Taiwo Akerele, about a month ago, left his sinking canoe. His Commissioner for Communications, Paul Ohonbamu, has ominously quoted Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar (very aptly) and left him.

He has deployed the same thugs he expelled from Ring Road several times to attack different people - more recently his erstwhile boss, Adams Oshiomhole. He has destroyed another hotel belonging to Tony Kabaka Adun in Benin, complaining about the property belonging to a Public School. Apparently, he was just finding out this?

The mask has fallen from his face and his chickens are coming home to roost. The denial he lives and operates in is his hamartia. Now he cries for justice where none accrues to him. Lured into a false sense of power by the political office he holds, he is on a collision course with his own waterloo and he cannot admit it to himself.

The handwriting is on the wall and he knows this. He has resorted to such base threats, as “I will show him I am the governor in this state”. He has reduced himself to demolishing hotels, as well as launching hordes of thugs on unsuspecting politicians. The people have woken and can now see that this man is no technocrat; he is a tantrum-throwing tyrant wielding legitimate power to execute ultra vires acts and posing a danger to himself, his party, anyone remotely tied to him, and the state.

The Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki has expressed fears that he may not get justice since the National Chairman of All Progressives Congress, Adams Oshiomhole was the “judge” in the case.



He said this while speaking to journalists soon after undergoing two hours of screening at the party’s headquarters, in Abuja on Wednesday.

He said; “The last time I came here, I asked that Oshiomhole recuse himself from the process in the interest of peace and justice. But as a party man, I have had to go through the screening like everybody else.

Sequel to this, many nigerian believe that, Obaseki is not sincere. Everybody is using the power he has. His gazette was mischievous, ill conceived motivated and targeted at his opponents. It wasn't because of the health of Edo people.

I base ko don't love Edo people more than the governor of the SouthSouth states where local govt election was held just 2 weeks ago and their covid 19 positive status had not jumped up. If a state can hold election where all eligible citizens were free to vote, how much more where it is only party primary? He set up panel to indict Oshiomole just when the primary is by the corners, he issued this gazette few days to the primary, he appointed many potential delegates just few weeks to the primary, you refused to inaugurate validly elected party legislators.



He's not coming to equity with clean hands. He's shooting all arrows in his arsenal but want his opponents to hold their peace!! No. Obaseki should bring out more arrows from his arsenal and continue to shoot and stop complaining.

The moment you issue out your so call Gazette, I except you to equally give up as you can't eat your cake and still have it.

You have exhibited your power as a sitting Governor to favour your cause, and you except APC not to use same power in is possession?

And this why I dislike politician as all of them are the same , fighting for common purpose and not in the interest of the people.

My conclusion, APC should kick out both Obasiki and Oshomole as they are bad example of a leader.

Oshomhole that set up the committee is NWC and not NEC.. The constitution of APC said it is the NEC that can set up such screening committee and Oshiomhole is not part of NEC.. Oshomhole is the head of NWC.

Every committee formed in a political party or even in governance is headed by a chairman..the chairman is to be appointed by the NEC to be the chairman of APC screening committee then with other members..I can see in your limited knowledge that everywhere you see chairman then it means they are referring to oshiomhole..my friend there are numerous chairmen heading different committees in APC..

Pls go and study the difference between NWC and NEC..Know the difference! Then thank me later.. Our problem in this country is that we pride ourself with ignorance!

Tertiary institution rules and system in my time some twenty something years ago is different from what obtains now not to talk of 1970s.

read it again...it said it will comprise of a chairman and members..It is not referring to chairman of APC per say..Every committee set up for such functions usually has a chairman and members, that's what that part means..

On the contrary, obaseki can use this as a loophole..It clearly says it is the NEC that will recommend these set up of people..Not NWC as headed by oshiomhole..

Oshiomholes power is actually limited despite being the chairman of APC but he is oblivious of that fact

What I do know is, if Obaseki doesn't win the primaries, he'll decamp to pdp and because of his familarity with the terrain (Edo state), he'll be made the party's primary candidate. When the guber. election comes, Oshomole will want to rig the election and that's when he'll see the full wraught of Obaseki who will be waiting for any nonsense from Oshomole. After he wins, I expect Oshiomole to be barnished.

I laughed when I saw Tinubu supporting Oshomole, Edo no be Lagos that will allow god fatherism.


what i do know is, obaseki wins either ways and let's face it, Oshomole is currently doing more harm than good. People said they don't want godfatherism but you're imposing yourself upon them against their wish.

Everything in this country is politics, nepotism and corruption.

Governors initially agreed they would use npower beneficiaries and corpers, after meeting with the service chiefs, at a NEC meeting last year. Politics came into play and they turned it all upside-down.

And if not that our government are so dull and dump, why will they even suggest using npower / nysc in the first place when they have enjoyed little stipend while there are still other Nigerians outside who are unlucky to be taken via npower.
