My friend satellites have at most five years lifespan to function effectively and from that they fade slowly into space junks. It is nothing to boast about for a bigger economy. Nigeria is my second home, but still does not not go anywhere in terms of infrastructural development, while in SA developments are hitting on rapidly. That's why one would ask if the economy of Nigeria is for real or just for the figures.
satellites are bragging rights anywhere. And Nigeria's economic figures are for real. If you reside in Nigeria for the last decade you will see the evidence on the streets. For the infrastructure, we do not dispute it. We are a very young and large country and are catching up. Our economy is a new found one like China's. We are getting there. The dutch and british developed southafrica as home away from home when the whole of africa was still unknown to civilisation. We are matching and very fast.

Bigger economy with nothing to show for it.
we have a lot to show for it. We manage the west african sub region more than 50 percent. We have the financial headquarters of several multi national companies. The only african country with 2 satellites in the orbit. We have africa's richest individual. Africa's richest woman. Richest blogger. The only country in the world to launch the multi purpose, electronic fully digitalize id. To mention a few. All these for a country that was nothing by 1960 after independence. Barely 54 years later we have africa's largest economy.

Southafrica on the other hand has been developing for the past 300 years as an extension of europe when your forebears where not allowed to participate or dwell in civilisation.
So southafrica is the one with stagnant growth who has been leap frogged no leap cheetah-ed by nigeria. lol

first, you didnt turn BRICS down

Second, we have all the buisness we want in BRICS. And BRICS is going to be invaluable in South Africa beating Nigeria to a permanent seat on the UN Security Council.

Third, MINT is a joke and does not actually exist

Fourth, you are still lagging well behind us in development, and we are still a bigger destination for investment. We are economically colonising you as we speak.
you are the proof i need to conclude that you guys do not read. Now i repeat for your learning: your country Southafrica INVITED NIGERIA to attend bric meeting we TURNED IT DOWN. stop making stupid noise.

Southafrica connot represent africa in un security permanent seat. Why ? She has lost the economic top spot for good. 2nd she isnt really seen as a true african country across the world. Many still see southafrica as a quasi europe extension. 3rd you do not have the population or the international track records. Your countries foreign policy is a disgrace to africa and the civilise world. Your politicians are all rookies in the international stage.
I give you a few examples. During the laurent Gbagbo Ivorian crisis, he was a sitting president who lost election but refused to step down. The world kicked against him. nigeria kicked against him. But south africa was the only lone negative voice giving support.

During the libya crisis, ghadaffi was an international terrorist who has tried and destabilise several african countries. When the west wanted to oust him. nigeria was the figst in africa to support and recognise the opposing army in libya, again southafrica was the lone barking voice in the world going anti clock wise. You also failed in mali . You failed again in Israel-palestine conflict which in all honesty is out of your league.
So which country would be supporting a rookie southafrica to the UN? You dont have the means or capacity or knowledge and experience to lead in that capacity.
In south America brazil with the biggest economy and population is favoured for the UN.
In Europe Germany largest economy and population is favoured. So southie has no standing.
Our economy will be twice as big as yours in a couple of years and our Citizens are reshaping your social lives and behaviours right there in southafrica. That is what i call neo colonialism.

Dude dream on... South Africa is the monster here, your economy is a fraud some economists suggest so... you have no industrial electricity yet your manufacturing sector is indicated as larger than our, its basic fraud.

South Africa has 45% of Africa's electricity and 40% of Africas railway systems, 75% of Africa's top 30 largest companies... deepest port, largest port etc

Of course your economy is a fraud, all the above indicators prove so.
hehe hehe hehe hehe. Bua bua ha ha ha ha. How could you call an imf, world bank certified and inspected economy a fraud. It is envy written everywhere. Pls the moment we declared our intentions of rebasing our economy which was reflecting our damonic status in 1990,all analyst from the west and even some of your local press predicted you have lost the top spot for good. For your shocker, nigeria's gdp is nearly a billion dollars. Our economy rebase only reflects that of year 2010. The economy grows at 6.5% percent to 7% annually while yours is a mere 3%. So we shall be leap frog-ing you as the years go by.black Southafrica and ghana so getting green every time Nigeria is mentioned.

Nigeria is utterly insignificant. Confirmed by the former BRIC nations.

Now our economy is now the biggest on the continent by far. South africa has no business in bric anymore. Go ask japan what China is doing to them with their economy even though japan has more infra and wealth. It is what we will do to you. We are in the mint countries and we are a monster no african country can stop.

you would not understand because you do not see it in the political light. You are looking at it from the personal angle but it's a whole lot more than that. Its same thing Nigeria does when southafrica goes out of line diplomatically,we use dstv, shoprite and mtn to rail them in. But they are supposedly private companies from southafrica.

Angry much? Is the truth that hard to stomach? Any opinion that differs from yours must come from a Nigeria hater, abi?
I responded to a PUBLIC post on a PUBLIC forum. I would respond in the same manner to anyone, regardless of nationality, who thinks that an individual from country X investing in a foreign country is an indication of country X's economic superiority. It's really laughable, because many of us know that it's a personal investment, rather than a national one. Every country, and I mean every country has got entrepreneurs who invest in foreign countries. I just don't get to see citizens of those countries go "jelly-jelly" about it. LOL.

From my observation, honest, hardworking Nigerians are rarely labelled conmen. If people abroad think you are a conman, then prove them wrong. Dangote has, hasn't he?

By the way, next time you want give an opinion avoid the insults and tantrums. They always create an impression that logic had failed and must be replaced by insults. Grow a thick skin and quit getting emotional over the opinions of strangers online. Just a little advice. Thank me later.
you get no thanks, lady. Calling someone foolish and lacking in achievnent isn't exactly praise-singing. When an individual opens any company in another country, it ceases to be just an individual investment. Shoprite, dstv and game represent south african interest and economic expansion. So do DHL, SHELL, CHEVRON represent their various countries interests.
So is DANGOTE, GTB,ZENITH and OCEANIC represent Nigeria's economic growth and interest

Every single Nigerian is seen as a scamer and drugist overseas by default, so every single Nigerian that put a positive impact abroad is viewed as a national upliftment especially economic impact. and Dangote's investment in western, southern and northern african countries is a tell tale signs of nigeria's economic growth and expansion.

The same men that can barely give N5k to a woman without asking her out or "bedding her" are condemning the truth.

I'm out jare
i have followed your post today and you are correct. Dont feel the need to apologise for your opinion. The bitter truth people find hard to accept today is that the vast majority of successful women have been compromised either by the fierce and cruel nature of the business and corporate world which is controlled and dictated by men. Or worse they give into the sexual/loyalty demands of the men who have the means to better her prospects. This is a world wide phenomenon. Testosterone drives a man to risk and adventure so they survive the harsh realities of the business world. Women are estrogen driven and are not naturally equipped to compete in a level-playing platform with men in the brutality of business and corporate world.

We understand there are a lot of male apologists nowadays who will hurry to needlessly defend the feminine course to appear heroic and brave thereby throwing wisdom aside. But the truth is most husbands of these "successful" women have learnt to "enjoy" the money as a soft, soothing balm to their loss of true feminine wife or have lived the miserable lives of men whose loyalty their wives have given away to their business colleagues, bosses and corporate god-fathers

We have 5 of our pastors in the world's top 10 richest list
We have our political leaders also ranking as some of the richest in the world.
We have about the highest number of private jet owners in the world (Nigeria has more private jets than commercial aircrafts)

Yet we also have some of the poorest people in the world; our nation doesn't even rank amongst the first 100 rich nations?
it is very sickening my brother when you consider that the european missionaries left europe in the 17th and 18th century to build school and churches free to complete african strangers. Today Nigerian pastors are building schools that the even some rich Nigerians cannot afford.

@Op all your points are so valid,my guy. I have one exception and that's the title: all men across the world wil relate to all your points and not just nigerian men. Any man who doesnt relate to it is either gay or was brought up by a domineering/over bearing mother . The implications and perception of a cheating wife is far more damaging. The very nature of sex,the woman lying on her back, spreading her legs in anticipated welcome and sweet surrender; The man mounting atop her and parting her warm feminine door open and pounding her in and out.. . . which man will take or live with such imagery. Little wonder the Bible refers to it as defilement. 90% of women's adultery are cold blooded, premeditated execution like a snake's.

Tallesty1:
Before I start this, I want to make it clear that I'm not a sexist.

People say it is a man's world, and honestly, it is. I will show you how.

Nature gave us some bonus and women gave their support. Even if a man forgives a cheating wife, the women(society) will not.

Here are the few reasons some men find it difficult to forgive a cheating wife(They are what I heard men say. I didn't author some of them)

1: EGO:- It certainly has alot to do with their ego being bruised. The thought that another man was able to sleep with Someone they believed they had "ownership" of breaks them to pieces as most of them think the women incapable of sex without emotions, meaning the woman loves another. Remember men are like a lioness that can kill most animals for its cubs but will not allow another animal to even play with its cubs.

2: GUILT:- If a woman cheats, the man will never forgive not only the woman but himself no matter whose fault it is. He feels he has failed as a man to protect and keep his own.

3: THEY CAN'T FORGET:- When a man is making love with his wife, it is a sacred rituals the way she moan shows that his sacrifice has been accepted. So if she makes love with another man he will be thinking the temple is no more sacred and when he make love to her and she moan, it will be disgusting cause it will be like that is the way she moaned for the other guy!

4: YOU HAVE LOST HER IF SHE CHEATS:- Female infidelity is often much more damaging to a marriage. Don’t get me wrong: Male cheating is definitely harmful. But when a woman fools around, it’s often the beginning of the end of the relationship. For men, cheating often tends to be opportunistic—they’re in the wrong place at the wrong time and the cheating doesn’t necessarily mean anything emotionally. In fact a man can sleep with a woman today and not remember her again but for a woman to have sex with you(in most cases)you must win her heart to win her body.

5: HE PAID YOUR PRICE:- I guess i gotta be blunt here. I know we call it marriage but I think women are being bought in a way. Don't kill me yet, let's analyze it. He buys engagement ring. Proposes to you, you accept then he decides to see your people. Your people accept him and give him a list containing heaven and earth. He agrees to pay, he pays for everything and when your parents feel they have collected enough, they hand you over to him. Then you automatically change your name(Change of ownership) which confirms that you are now his own.

I have seen where women sponsored their marriage and the men don't care when they cheatcheesy soI believe the day you stop asking for head-cutting bride price for us to marry then we won't bother much, imagine paying all that money and she gives it to another man..

On a serious note. A cheat is a cheat and you can't quantify cheating. Who is cheating doesn't matter. Stay Faithful

lol. I wasn't joking o. The Nissan GTR do not have the handling capabilities of its german and italian Rivals. That is a fact. Engine Recovery is a kind of stamina where cars can maintain super top speed for a very long stretch of time. And can switch between low to high speeds and between medium high speed to top speed in quick successions without much variations.

I have not always been so keen about Nissan product, be it a super car or family sedan, suv's or otherwise. Sometimes wonders happen on wheels from the least expected manufacturers. For instance, you can imagine Chevrolet Camaro Z/28, that heavy box beating the likes of Alfa Romeo 4C, BMW i8, BMW M4, Ford Fiesta ST, Jaguar F-Type R Coupe, Nissan GT-R Nismo, Porsche 911 Turbo S, Subaru STI, and Volkswagen GTI. , ....and making it to no 1 on the list as the world best drivers car. the Nissan GTR is a middle class super car that has great acceleration(could actually embarrass some ferraris on a straight line) but has mediocre performance in cornering and handling. Also engine recovery isnt top notch. Overall top speed isnt yet at the top class. My opinion.

I'm done with this issue, but I'd like to say something before I dump this discussion for good. One of you south africans said I was lying about the acquisition of OPV's from china and india. We are going to receive three stealth corvette OPV's from china in 2013 and a couple more from india also in 2013. You either believe it or you doubt. No hassle. @ syndergb. However, I must admit of being guilty of exaggeration, when I said NN would surpass SAN in 2013.

True, we are behind south africa in areas of infrastructure, but we are developing infrastructure all round, too all peoples of nigeria, and not just focusing on the major cities, like is the case in south africa. Besides we got eko atlantic city, the single biggest project anywhere in the world at the moment. As we speak land reclamation is 80% and some developers have started construction on their buildings. Rail system, lagos and rivers state are respectively developing light and monorail systems. In ECONOMY and business over the last years nigerian owned companies have recorded massive growth rates, young techies are doing very well, while the south african economy is moribound barely growing. Infact on this continent nigeria would soon be number 1. True, we still have a lot of catching up to do in infrastructure, when compared to SA, but to come and claim that all your infrastructure is 20-30 years ahead of nigeria is pure foolishness.

@ andrewza I never said the NNS ANDONI is a warship, I have consistently referred to it as a SEAWARD DEFENCE BOAT, which it rightly is, I don't know when I said it is a warship.

It is a military discussion, so no need for country bashing. I was however referring to a post made by andrewza, in which he took a swipe at us, and which I returned the favour.

My main reason for posting is to distort the notion which must of you have about nigeria's military been only about numbers. I want to say categorically that since that is what you guys believe, you lot a terribly mistaken. Like my fellow country man has harped on over and over again, you lot sound like you can just mount a blockade like we don't have a navy capable of defending the territory. You talk about oil, damaging an oil industry which accounts for just about 20% of our GDP. Okay GOODLUCK. While coming over remember to come with ZUMA and JULIUS MALEMA. grin grin grin
nice quote bro. Your prediction of the economy has come to pass. Boy did you read the reaction of Southafricans in their local press! Some of them where blaming themselves for dwelling only on the negative news in Nigeria like poor electricity and corruption, not realising that massive economic activities and reforms were ongoing. Now on the war thing. What's all these childish and ignorant noises. Neither Southafrica or Nigeria has what it takes to embark on a full scale war with each other without needing outside help and purchasing of high end weapons.
