The Labour Party (LP) has called for the postponement of the National Assembly election scheduled to be conducted alongside the presidential poll next Saturday over omission of the party’s logo in the Senatorial and House of Representatives’ ballot papers.

Chairman of the party, Dayo Ekong made the call at a press conference in Lagos following receipt of the ballot papers for the National Assembly elections.

Ekong, called on INEC to reschedule the election until the party’s candidates were included on the ballots.

According to her, as Nigerians prepare to go to the polls on Saturday to elect a new President and members of the Senate and House of Representatives, the LP is decrying the flagrant exclusion of the Labour Party National Assembly candidates on the ballot papers.

Ekong called out INEC to either correct what she described as anomaly or reschedule the National Assembly elections.

“This malicious “error” was found out this morning in Lagos, by me and my team of executive members during the routine inspection of election materials.

“It was at inspection that it was discovered that Labour Party was not listed for the election for Senate in and House of Representatives in Lagos State. This is unacceptable and a wicked way of disenfranchising Lagos electorates.


“We cannot accept this as we do not believe that INEC made a mistake but rather, a deliberate, malicious and intentional act by INEC at disenfranchising our Supporters from exercising their civic rights which is unacceptable,” Ekong said.

She added that further checks on the INEC website revealed that the list of names of Lagos Labour Party National Assembly was not uploaded “even as the list and court orders for same were duly submitted to INEC and acknowledged.”

“You will all recall how we have severally pointed out the bias displayed by the current INEC REC in Lagos State towards our Party and his increasing attacks on our leaders that have constantly pointed out these biases in the past and current onslaught on our Party.

” Is this the result of the culmination of those attacks?

“We call on all Stakeholders, Foreign Observers, Lovers of Democracy and International Community to quickly wade in and call INEC to order to do the needful,” Ekong said.

NAN reports that the event was attended by the Governorship Candidate of the party, Mr Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, other candidates and the state executive committee members. (NAN) (www.nannews.ng)

Obi is who I would've preferred to vote for but he doesn't have the numbers yet to unseat the ruling party so Atiku got my vote. Emilokan is not popular in the north and naso most of una go underestimate the quiet Atiku till he wins.

The confidence Asiwaju has that SW is in the bag is not based on your assumptions but real empirical numbers.

Lagos does not joke with data and if you follow the biometric data from gsm to inec to JAMB, the south east has a low population. The data from JAMB alone where real state of origins, registered GSM numbers and biometric data are captured confirmed that only about 20% of Igbo are outside the 5 SE states and most of these Igbo live in neighboring kogi, Benue, Delta, Rivers and Akwa Ibom states and few live in far flung places like Lagos and far North.

There are far more Hausa-Fulani in Lagos than the Igbo and you just do not get it when you see APC going to their communities in Lagos instead of Igbo dominated areas of Lagos.
Many of you were shocked last week when told that most Igbo in Lagos are not voting because of double registration and failure to move their PU to Lagos or SW statea.

You are politically naive if you do not get the reality. Osun has about 2m votes at stake but the candidate and party the Igbo endorsed and supported got 2k votes out of 2m votes.
Lagos data is very closely related to Osun. Same as Ogun , Oyo , Ekiti, Ondo. The largest LGAs that deliver huge votes in Lagos are dominated by the natives.
Just try and vote for lp in the SE, banking on significant votes for lp in the whole SW is ignorance and wishful thinking. The Yoruba are not number 2 after the Hausa in terms of population for fun.It is to use it at elections especially an election like this. Mr Obi will struggle to get 1% of total votes cast in the SW.

The Igbo population is a minority population in the SW including Lagos. They can not move any needle. All those campaign in the market is bobo, most of those folks are traders and buyers in the market and are trapped there. That is why less than 1k Igbo youth could make it to a rally slated for inside tbs. You do not have the numbers within and outside Igboland. That is why lp can never ever win.

You just do not get Others are more motivated and far more motivated than you think. It will shock you when it hits you. Old Oyo state alone has over 5 million votes at stake and they aint joking.

You think it is election day that you see motivation. No. It is from registration for pvc and picking it up. Osun and Oyo alone will deliver more votes than the whole SE let along now include Lagos and Ogun with about 10m votes at stake .

Yoruba people are so highly motivated because Asiwaju the best candidate is their own on the ballot.
