In a sane environment, all the ministers should have voluntarily resigned or fired by the preisdent because of gross incompetence and the president should officially withdraw the budget and tender an unreserved apology to the citzens for this insult and slap on the face.

No one is saying it should be condoned but understood! Some of you peeps on net just type for typing sake, mehn what's wrong with you! As a Yoruba man, we were taught the value of discipline and not taking what does not belong to you, as a child most of my mates were very mischievous and when caught we were disciplined from 24 to 48 strokes of the whip to 2 hours plus of punishment to being disgraced publicly. Nothing was out of bounds, nowadays looking back I thank my parents and grandparents for such strong discipline, it made me stronger, wiser and more accountable. To top it all off, you ended with Nigerian parents should feed their kids well, this statement is typical of a person out of touch with reality! If you grew up in Mushin or a less privilege society and you were poor, you would realize people don't eat to be satisfied but to survive. We had a formula back then 1-0-1 or 0-1-1 or on a very bad day 0-0-1 where 0 meant no food and 1 meant food for breakfast, lunch or dinner.

My up bringing is quite different from yours. I was allowed to eat to my fill and I turned out WELL! I'm a wife, mother of 5 kids, and a successful lawyer and business woman . I achieved all this before 30, by the special Grace of God. However my husband grew up poor but I can't imagine him beating any of our kids for eating food...
Recently there was a joke on social media on reasons why kids got beaten back in the day. To some it was funny but to me, it just explained why we have some many screwed up and heartless folks in our society today! The abuse some kids went through as kids made them so hard and insensitive to the plight of others. Our leaders are all products of our society, they are wicked and don't give a damn about the common man. I think it has to do with the way many of them were raised.

Just because your parents were poor or/and cruel does not mean it should be condoned. Growing up in the 80s I had no reason to steal meat cos may parents gave me enough... you don't punish a child for being hungry! My kids are allowed to eat anything from my pot as long as they don't waste it. Nigerian parents should learn how to feed their kids well.
