Jobs/VacanciesRe: How I Lost A Potential Job Because Of My Denomination by lielbree: 3:31pm On Sep 13, 2020
wunmi590:
Good day nairalanders,

Sorry I have to write this, I have decided to keep it to myself but, I decided to let it out.

Just like every other job seekers who are looking for jobs either to switch to a better pay or change environment.

Though I have been out of job since the COVID-19 pandemic started, I worked in a retail company, but since we have not been called back, I decided to search for job.

I saw an advert and decided to submit my application, just like every other people, luckily after one week or two, I got a mail that I have been shortlisted for their online test and after I pass, I will move to the next stage which is virtual interview before coming to their office to sign my employment letter.

After the mail, like 3 days I got a mail containing my ogin and password for the test, fiam, I opened and I did the test.

After like another 3days, I got a mail from them that I passed the test and i should be expecting a whatsap call from one of their head office in Europe.

Luckily I got the call, from one of the European country number from a Nigerian, believing is the call that would change my life forever.

After the normal introduction and other things like the job functions, the real bible questions started which I was able to scale through it.

Towards the end of the virtual interview, the last question was are you a born again Christian, have you been baptised and what denomination are you?.

And I said yes I'm a born again Christian, I've been baptised and I'm a Roman Catholic.

At the end of my speech his response was, is not possible to be a Catholic and be born again.

He said once you were not taken to the river to be baptised that's not a baptism.

Catholics are not born again Christians and I'm not baptised too just because I was not taken to the river to be baptised.

His last statement was, you actually have the experience but, we need other denomination not Catholic that the job entails somebody who is a real born again Christian.

That was how I lost the job, thinking today being my birthday, I will go to church and do special thanks giving.
Consider yourself fortunate. That is not a company but a cult organisation after only God knows what, this world is deep.

God will surely provide you a good job. Let your faith in Him not shake. Rather thank Him for delivering you from evil ones.

FYI: I'm not Catholic o. But anyone who criticises the Church established by Christ Himself through Peter is not a Christian.

Nigerian men are tired of wedding

Strange things happening in Nigeria these days

Men nowadays preferred to be baby daddies with no responsibility or emotional burden.

Imagine, you pay school fees, house rent, food allowance, wardrobe allowance, in-laws demands and other utility allowances only to find out that your wife is seeing another man. what a trauma and catastrophe
If u are a baby daddy u still pay rent, sch fees, wardrobe, utilities, car etc...

The down side is in all of thus the child still belongs to the woman's father

That is not something to be proud of. Wipe that smile off your face. With all the trading your people did with the white man, how has it benefitted your people in the long run? Are you now allowed to travel to portugal and britain without needing a visa? Do the portuguese and english people treat your people with any atom of respect now that your people have discarded their unique native names for european names?

Look at Dr (Mrs) Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala. She did not have to throw away her native names to be respected worldwide. Same can be said for Chimamanda Adichie. Your people have a conquered mind and are spinless that is why they had to change their identity just to trade rubbish with some oyibos.
It is part of our culture of to take the names of stangers who live well with us. There are many Igbo named communities in many parts of Ijaw land simply because in the olden days, many Igbos were sold to my ancestors.

So take your closed minded hate speech elsewhere. I'm proud of the hospitable nature of my people since time immemorial.

So why didn't the Europeans change thr names to ijaw name
If is part of our culture to take on names of visitors who lived and did business with us. It's our way of hospitality. There are si many Igbo named communities in our land for example. Also till this day an Ijaw man would not hesitate to name his child after a stanger who lived well with him.

We are that open minded. smiley

Please Advice Me

Please NLs advice me, I am serving my Oga what we Igbo people call (Igba boyi) now I am saving his money mostly from profit, I want to use the money to start my business when I am settled and it has reached 1.3m but my mind is telling me to show him the money while the other mind is telling me not to show him the money.

Please advice me on this.
Is it markup profit? That is if oga say sell 10naira but you ebd up selling 12naira.

The 2naira extra is markup profit.

In such case it belongs to u not your oga
As long has your oga capital and profit is secure, anything u put on top belongs to u.

"I told him to"
"I want him to"
"I warned him not to"
"I advised him to"
"He wouldn't listen to me" and all the other stuffs.

It appears to me that you are foisting your opinion, choices and wishes on your partner. You want him to live his life your way, pursue his dreams following your chart and run his race with you as guide. Perhaps you want to be the Kapellmeister while you lead the orchestra that is his life.

If he were to follow your advise and it backfires or doesnt yield the expected fruit, who would take responsibility? There is something some of us do not acknowledge which is that not everyone wants to be wealthy, some people just want to be successful at what they do, some people just want to lead a simple and fulfilled life.

I also find your intentions questionable. Do you have all those "nice thoughts" for him because you love and wish him well, or because you want him wealthy enough to marry you next year and give you "the life"? Its a shame that you say you're not proud of someone ou claim to love and painting him as some loser.

There comes a time in the life of a man when he wants to do things his own way, steer his own ship, make his own mistakes and celebrate his own little victories.

I would have asked you to talk to him, but I believe you guys have talked about this over and over. So, the choice is yours to walk or stay
Your post didn't bother me, it's the number of people that agree with u that I find gutt rentching. ..
