Former presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore, has launched a scathing attack on Peter Obi and the Labour Party, describing them as a “short rental” political arrangement incapable of challenging Nigeria’s entrenched political order.
Speaking, Sowore dismissed the notion that Obi represents any meaningful opposition to President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
“Labour Party Is a Political Airbnb” — Sowore Sowore likened the Labour Party to an Airbnb rental, suggesting Obi’s political influence was temporary and transactional.
He added that Obi’s 2023 momentum was largely driven by religious sentiment, not policy or revolutionary intent.
“The APC’s Muslim-Muslim ticket created fear among Christian voters. Peter Obi became the default Christian response. But that’s not real opposition—it’s reactive politics.”
Yvngex: From your statement, 'He's better than Tinubu and many others,' does this mean that someone who stole 5 million is considered a saint compared to someone who stole 10 million?

Suspended Rivers state governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has cautioned his supporters over their confrontational approach in demanding his reinstatement, stating that not everything should be done with “Oshobe”, a local term implying force or aggression.
Speaking during a service of songs held in Port Harcourt in honour of late elder statesman Edwin Clark, Fubara said while he appreciated their support, some of their actions had worsened his situation rather than helped.
He emphasised his preference for a more measured and peaceful strategy, stating that he was not desperate to return to office.
Fubara was responding to remarks by several speakers at the event, including Apostle Zilly Aggrey, who criticised his suspension and called for his immediate reinstatement.
The suspended governor distanced himself from their remarks, describing them as personal opinions insisting that there statements would not likely promote peace .
Fubara said: “Can’t you see how much better I look? Do you really think I’m interested in going back there? My spirit has already left that place. Not everything is by oshobe. Do you even know if I want to go back there? My spirit has already left there”.
“Don’t do things because you want to do them. Do the things I want. I am the one wearing the shoes. I know the solution to my problem. I know how to walk through my problem. There are some things you do that, rather than bring peace for me, spoil my peace process. It gives me problems. So I’m cautioning everybody here,”
he said.

Airpeace has facilitated the return of trafficked Girls in Abidjan as promised.
Recall that Martin Otse, the social media critic better known as VeryDarkMan, recently shared a video of some girls who said they were trafficked as sex slaves.
Some of the girls said they were first taken to the Niger Republic before being transferred to work in Ivory Coast.
One of the girls, aged 15, claimed she was a native of Ibadan and was taken to Ivory Coast after she was drugged.
Onyema expressed concern over the plight of the girls.
Onyema said Nigeria needs collective efforts to discourage trafficking, describing it as “inhumane and ungodly”.
“We should discourage trafficking of any kind. It is inhumane and callous. It is absolutely ungodly and a good example of man’s inhumanity to man,” the statement reads.
“We, in Air Peace, are ready to bring our fellow citizens back home free of charge.
“Besides that, we are going to send all of them to Duchess International Hospital in Ikeja for free medical examination and treatment.”

Abayomi Arabambi, Factional National Publicity Secretary, Labour Party, said during the 2023 elections, out of 189,000 polling agents we were not able to field agents in 54,000 units. Four people were responsible for why the Labour Party lost the election and failed woefully during the tribunal as we did not have agents at the Polls. Peter Obi tried to cover this issue up during the tribunal and this caused a divide between him and the Abure-led NWC.

Tranquill: It’s best they stopped dragging the Late Clarke’s name into this issue because when people respond now, they will be the ones to say he’s been disrespected.
You are the people that caused this problem for Fubara by nudging him into an unprepared fight with the people that made him governor, with the promise that you will help him prevail when you make it an Ijaw issue.

Lifestylecom: Nenadi Usman, chair of the Labour Party (LP) caretaker committee, has launched a probe into Julius Abure over allegations of corruption, misappropriation of party funds and anti-party activities.
Speaking at a press conference in Abuja on Wednesday, Usman accused Abure of “persistently parading himself as national chairman of the party despite being removed”.
She said Abure was running the party “like a personal enterprise to pursue selfish ambitions” and alleged that he used his position to enrich himself rather than promote unity.
“To address these serious allegations, we have set up a disciplinary panel chaired by Senator Ireti Kingibe, with Peter Ameh as secretary,” she said.
Usman said the panel will investigate Abure over corruption, misappropriation of party funds and anti-party activities.
She said Abure has been summoned to appear before the committee to respond to the various petitions and charges against him.
The caretaker chairperson also accused Abure of hijacking party structures by refusing to conduct congresses at the ward, local government, state and zonal levels ahead of the national convention.
She said the caretaker team will restore internal democracy in the party and release a timetable for proper congresses and elections.
Usman, a former finance minister, warned Abure to stop parading himself as party leader within 48 hours or face disciplinary action.
She said the committee was acting on the powers granted by the party’s national executive council (NEC).
“The disciplinary panel has 21 days to conclude its investigation and recommend appropriate sanctions,” she added.
The latest development comes days after the Abure-led national working committee (NWC) also set up a disciplinary committee to investigate Alex Otti, the Abia governor, over alleged anti-party activities.
The party has remained in crisis, with both factions citing the April 4 supreme court judgment as justification for their claims to LP leadership.
While Abure’s camp says the judgment validated his position, the caretaker committee insists it confirms that his tenure has expired.
