PoliticsRe: SURVIVAL FUND: Beneficiaries Of N30k Artisans Grants Speak Up On National Radio by Lifted2000: 12:48pm On Nov 06, 2020
Congratulations to Nigerians as they use it strictly for their businessess
IKUBABAYEYE001:
The N30, 000 one-time grant for artisans, under the Economic Sustainability Plan (ESP) is real and the disbursement of funds under the scheme is going on across the first set of States, according to the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media & Publicity, Mr Laolu Akande.

Mr Akande stated this in Abuja on Thursday during Radio Nigeria’s live phone-in programme “Have Your Say”, where he was featured alongside the Special Assistant on MSMEs, Mr Tola Johnson and a number of the FCT-based beneficiaries of the N30,000 grant.

According to him, “I will like to tell Nigerians that this programme is for real that is why we have invited some of the leaders of the artisan groups and beneficiaries here in Abuja to come and speak directly to Nigerians.

On ground to authenticate the genuineness of the scheme based on the testimonies of their members were representatives of the various artisans’ groups, as well as beneficiaries in the FCT.

They include the Chairman (FCT) Nigeria Automobile Association & Informal Sector (NATA), Mr. Philip Ogunsakin; Vice-Chairman Informal Sector Artisans Association, Abuja, Comrade Wisdom Okputa; State Marshal, (FCT) Nigeria Automobile Association & Informal Sector (NATA), Comrade Ifeanyi Chukwu Nebechi; and State Secretary (FCT) Nigeria Automobile Association & Informal Sector (NATA), including one of the direct beneficiaries, Comrade Babatunde Yusuf.

They all spoke at the Radio show, attesting to the disbursements of the money to them or members of their associations.

Comrade Yusuf Babatunde said “it amazed me when I received my grant last week Thursday and I was so happy because I had only N250 left in my account when it arrived. It went a long way to get some parts for my Car AC business.”

Comrade Wisdom Okputa, Vice Chairman, Informal Sector Artisans Association of Abuja, said: “Some people have benefitted and they are happy and at the last meeting, they testified and are using the money to build up their businesses and those who don’t have tools, bought tools, those without spraying machine have also bought.”

Akande then recalled that he had mentioned on the National Radio Station last week that “one of the things that you cannot take away from President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, is that they are men of integrity. When they say they are going to do something, they do everything in their power to get it done.”

Speaking about the commitment of the Buhari administration to ensure that the objectives of the scheme are achieved, Mr Akande said “this Artisan Support that the SA on MSMEs has talked about is a grant that is going to go 333,000 Nigerians across the country. This government, the Buhari administration, is committed to supporting the common man. The government is committed to supporting small business owners in whatever way it can. As you must have heard from the testimonies of leaders of the artisan groups and some of the beneficiaries in Abuja about the success of the scheme, I can assure you that it is the same thing that is happening across the country.”

While calling on Nigerians in states currently undergoing enumeration to take advantage of the scheme, Mr Johnson said nobody should pay anyone in order to benefit from the scheme, noting that all the various tracks under the scheme are free of charge.

Aside from the FCT, beneficiaries from Plateau, Bauchi, Lagos, Anambra, Abia, Borno, Rivers, Kano, Kaduna, Delta and Ondo States, started receiving their credit alerts on Thursday, October 29, 2020

Only a heart of gold will apologize and he has earned a fresh trust from us
TheRareGem1:
Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, in a statement on Friday night, apologised for the delay in the implementation of the demands of #EndSARS protesters.

The protest against police brutality and the notorious Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) of the Nigeria Police Force has gained global traction after a rigorous campaign on social media.

Peaceful demonstration is also going on in major cities in the country.

While the disbandment of the police unit has been achieved, some other demands of the protesters have not been fully met.

These include the prosecution of killer cops, the release of all protesters in detention and the total overhaul of the police.

In his statement, the vice president admitted that the process of implementation could have moved faster than the way it is.

“I fully understand how many young people feel. Many feel that we have been too silent and have simply not done enough. These feelings of frustration are justified. There are far too many people who have been brutalised at the hands of the police and this is unacceptable. We must take responsibility for protecting young people, even sometimes from those who are paid to protect them.”

He said several meetings have been held between President Muhammadu Buhari, top officials of the National Assembly, police authorities and the human rights commission in order to salvage the situation.

“Over the past week, we have been following the protests, and I have had a number of discussions with key people in the administration that you deserve to be informed about. Transparency, after all, is a key tenet of government.”

Every dime invested in NSIP was only thoroughly managed by the Bank of Industry, ministry of Budget and planning and CBN.
maybanks:
The National Assembly is set to begin the probing of activities of the National Social Investment Programme.

A source revealed to SaharaReporters that the parliamentarians will also organise a public hearing to investigate possible corruption activities in the scheme.

The probe will focus on the activities of the NSIP under the Office of the Vice President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo, and Maryam Uwais, Special Adviser to the President on the NSIP.

“The National Assembly is beginning the process to investigate the NSIP and this will start soon.

“The aim is to expose the corruption that has taken place in the programme while it was under the Vice President.

“Next target is the NSIP and the National Assembly will be focusing the programme under the Vice President and Mrs Uwais’ tenure,” the source said.

The source further stated that the Senate President will champion the probe, adding that Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, Sadiya Umar Farouq, will be working with the National Assembly for the purpose.

Activities of the NSIP have come under scrutiny since President Muhammadu Buhari introduced it in 2016.

Some of the programmes under the scheme include N-Power, Conditional Cash Transfer, and Home Grown School Feeding Programme.

The House of Representatives had on Thursday invited Minister of Finance, Zainab Ahmed; ex-Finance Minister, Kemi Adeosun; and Farouq over the spending of N1.7trn on NSIP between 2016 and 2019.

They are to appear before the House Committee on Public Procurement headed by Oluwole Oke.

Nairaland GeneralThe Nigeria Police Force Must Take Responsibility by Lifted2000(op): 11:14am On Mar 09, 2020
Praying in my closet last night as regards the alarming rate of insecurity, it dawned on me that while I had faith for an improved security situation I needed to put work into action which prompted me to pen this message.

The internal security, protection of lives & property is a fundamental human right for all citizens and not just the “so called VIPs”. These celebrities, politicians, entertainers etc ought to secure the services of private security firms.

It’s quite unreasonable for a country fighting insecurity on multiple fronts to fall short of personnel because the Nigerian Police force (NPF) attaches two or more of its personnel to politicians instead of citizens.

Mohammed Abubakar Adamu, the Inspector General of Police should withdraw security details from all Nigerians that are not constitutionally deserving of one. This is to ensure that we have more hands at solving the national security dilemma.

Let's do the math. If the national assembly alone has 400 members and all of the lawmakers have at least one policeman, that means the country has lost 400 policemen to VIP lawmakers.

Come to the state and local government level. If each state lawmaker and commissioner have one policeman attached to them then we are talking thousands of policemen working for VIPs.

The point is this, private security outfits were set up for this purpose, why are we still using policemen?

How will we create jobs when the policeman who is supposed to protect the country internally is lobbying for private security jobs?

Nigeria does not need to hire new policemen, Nigeria needs to deploy the policemen we have to good use.

Then, the welfare of the police should be made public. We need to know if the government is paying what they claim, or is it the policemen and women deceiving citizens.

Put simply, there's need for transparency and accountability, not to mention the reorientation of our police force.

Nairaland GeneralConstitutional Review To Strengthen The Role Of The Office Of The Vice President by Lifted2000(op): 4:41pm On Feb 24, 2020
Upon reading the Nigerian constitution, one realizes that the President is overburdened without adequate support from his Vice President based on their constitutional roles.

A review of the constitutional powers accorded Nigeria’s Vice President who is the second-in-command as elected alongside the President in national elections indicate that they are often rendered as “spare tyres”. These executive functions currently include; participation in all cabinet meetings, membership in the National Security Council, the National Defence Council, Federal Executive Council, and the Chairman of National Economic Council. These functions are still limited due to the President’s relatively humongous powers as accorded by the constitution.

It is a prerogative, now more than never that the Nigerian national assembly attends to the review of the 1999 constitution as a life wire for the purpose of good governance. The review should grow beyond media publications, “the 56-member constitution review committee saddled with the responsibilities should painstakingly look into the existing constitution and then give Nigerians a new amended constitution that would stand the test of time for every level of governance.

Going forward, I would want the national assembly to look into adding more independent statutory functional roles to the office of the vice president to compliment the impact of the presidency. One of such should be that the national budget bill should be signed by the chairman of the National Economic Council in person of the vice president. The office of the vice president could be saddled with the responsibility of the Nigeria Police Council, Police Service Commission and Revenue Mobilization Allocation and Fiscal Commission

In all these, the office of the vice president should be empowered by the constitution in order to share some of the huge responsibility of the President in order that we might benefit more as a people. The times when Vice Presidents just tag along should be a thing of the past. We should be able to feel their contributions in various spheres of the society and the economy.

PoliticsRe: Osinbajo : The Formidable Attorney General by Lifted2000: 2:12pm On Feb 20, 2020
Here is the definition of social justice
Joyce95:
We often hear of Vice President Yemi Osinbajo’s brilliance and track record on a superficial basis, not many of us are thoroughly familiar with who or what he was before his giant leap to the Office of the Vice President in 2015. From previous discussions I have held and heard, a considerably high demographic of the Nigerian populace think he simply was a “Redeemed pastor who found grace.”

As a passionate admirer of his oratory prowess and an avid follower of his speeches at State functions, he commands your attention and leaves you enthralled through the entirety of his address; I casually say to my friends that if I could manage a public address as well as the man did, I would never stay quiet.

One of such occasions where I was blown away by his wisdom and the semantics he deployed was his address on the civil war. But it was his visit to the palace of the Emir of Lafia that blee me away.

The Emir, Hon. Justice Sidi Bage Muhammad, credited Prof. Osinbajo with revolution of judiciary in Nigeria. He glossed over some of his achievements as Attorney General of Lagos and how the federal government and state governments across the country replicated this stellar contributions to Nigeria's judiciary.

It was after mind blowing submission that I decided to read up on his educational background. A click became two and two, three… in no time, I was reading about Osinbajo the Lagos State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice; so sterling were his achievements that I thought I’d share some.

It is worthy of note that Professor Yemi Osinbajo first served between 1988 and 1992 as a Special Adviser to the then Minister of Justice and Attorney-General of the Federation, Prince Bola Ajibola (SAN). This probably ensured that he was not green behind the ears when he took over in Lagos State.

His appointment as Attorney General was informed by his reform-minded contributions to the justice sector while he served in 1999, as member and Secretary of a Think-Tank and Transition Work Group, a body set up by then newly elected Governor, Bola Tinubu, to deliberate on strategies for transition from military to democratic government in Lagos State.

On behalf of the state, He was engaged in a number of legal battles with the then Olusegun Obasanjo led administration.

Prof. Osinbajo always found himself (with the backing of his governor) on opposing aisles in a court room with the legal team of the Federal Government. Most of these cases he won.

One of such was the suit marked: SC.353/2001 between the AG, Lagos and AG of the Federation. It was filed in 2001 by the Lagos State Government to, among others, challenge the constitutionality or otherwise of the Urban and Regional Planning Act, 1992.

The Federal Government had sought to rely on the law to sell off some of its property in Lagos without any recourse to the state government. Issues raised for determination in the suit included:
*Whether Urban and Regional Planning (Town Planning) as well as the regulation of physical development in relation to any land in Lagos State were within the legislative and executive jurisdiction of the Federal Government.
*Whether the Urban and Regional Planning Decree No.8 of 1992 is inconsistent with the provisions of Sections 4 of the 1999 Constitution, therefore unlawful, null and void.
*Whether the ownership rights of the Federal Government over land in state territories include the power to control and regulate town planning and physical development in relation to such lands.
*Whether all approvals, permits, and licenses granted by the Federal Government or any of its agencies for any construction, building or physical development or use of Land in Lagos State without the consent of the state government are illegal, null and void.

On May 13, 2003 in its judgment, the Supreme Court held that the state government possessed control over the physical planning and developmental control within their territory. It also held that all development permits issued by the Federal Government to the buyers of its properties in Lagos from 1999 to that date subsisted, but henceforth, owners of such properties must obtain relevant permits from the state government.

The judgment gave Lagos State government the authority to impose all compartments of levies on everyone who bought Federal Government’s property.

A second case I found was one where Prof. Osinbajo also led the Lagos team in the suit marked: S.C. 70/2004 between the Attorney General, Lagos State and Attorney General of the Federation instituted in 2004 by the state government to challenge the directive by then President Obasanjo to the effect that statutory allocation to states that created local governments, be withheld by the Finance Minister.

In its judgment on December 10, 2004, the Supreme Court ruled in favour of Lagos State. It held, among other things, that it was wrong for the Federal Government to withhold statutory allocations due to the states under any guise.

The court also faulted the Federal Government’s position that the Local Governments created in Lagos were illegal. It held that they were legitimately created, but remain inchoate until the National Assembly played its part as stipulated under Section 8(5) of the Constitution.
The then Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Mohammed Uwais, who read the lead judgment, granted the reliefs sought by the plaintiff.

"To sum up, the plaintiff’s action succeeds, all the reliefs sought are granted, but applicable only to the 20 Local Government Areas specified in Part 1 of the first Schedule to the Constitution.”

The court made a consequential order compelling the defendant (Fed Govt) to immediately pay all outstanding statutory allocation due and payable to the Lagos State government pursuant to the provisions of Section 165(5) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999,”
Professor Yemi Osinbajo had again led the Lagos State Government to victory.

Prof Osinbajo also led the prosecuting team when the state decided to prosecute former Chief of Army Staff, General Ishaya Bamaiyi; former Chief Security Officer to the late General Sani Abacha, Major Hamza al-Mustapha; Mohammed Abacha, son of the late military ruler; Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Rabo Lawal among others for alleged criminal offences during the military era.

He was instrumental in the prosecution of the suit brought against British -American Tobacco Nigeria Ltd (BAT), International Tobacco Limited and four others on the basis that they were allegedly targeting young and underage persons in their advertising and marketing in spite of the obvious knowledge of the adverse effect and severe health implications of their products.

For eight years while he handled the prosecution, the defence did all they could to frustrate the progress of the case. They preferred to remain in custody than stand trial.

As the Lagos AG, it was not all about litigation for Prof Osinbajo, during his tenure as Attorney-General and Justice Commissioner; he introduced major reforms that surged the state’s judiciary to the current height that makes it a reference point in judicial efficiency in the country.
He established the Office of the Public Defender (OPD) in 2003 to provide FREE legal advice and representation to indigent or disadvantaged citizens of the state in criminal and civil cases.

He also aided the establishment of the Citizens Mediation Centre (CMC) in Lagos to provide a non-adversarial forum for the mediation and settlement of a wide range of disputes between parties who, on invitation, voluntarily present themselves for mediation at the Centre.

Professor Yemi Osinbajo’s impact as Lagos State AG and Commissioner for Justice cannot be overemphasized; beyond the meek, amiable and unconventional politician you see is a legal giant and a profound intellectual.
Nairaland GeneralGarment Makers Need A Change In Attitude To Make Millions by Lifted2000(op): 10:27am On Feb 18, 2020
Clothing is as old as man himself, the very first clothing that served as a covering was made by the best designer, God. Ever since creation, man has always required the services of a tailor for a covering, but sad to say many Nigeria indigenous tailors have failed to utilize that business opportunity.

Needle and thread over the year has changed lives and continues to do so till date. Let’s use a tailor who sews Ankara for instance, he/she can use only needle and thread to produce a style that cost at least N2,000.00 for a up and down and this may take just 2 hours to finish.

Imagine, if they tailor gives himself the target to finish up to 4 pairs daily that means N8,000.00, multipled it by 5 (five) that is N40,000.00 weekly, if that amount is multiplied by 4 weeks in a mouth that will sum up to N240,000.00 a month. It is very essential to note that these figures do not come by simply calculating it, but it is as a result of having the right attitude and approach towards the job.

Most, tailors view their job as “WORK” thereby carrying it out in very bad ways, like not keeping to agreement/disappointment, shabby work, missing fabrics, very poor finishing etc.

Keeping to agreement: So many have stopped patronizing an average Nigeria tailor, because they simply can't keep to their “own” words. Imagine stepping into a tailor’s shop with your fabrics which you wish to wear to a function in 3 weeks time and immediately the tailor sees you without him/her carefully listening to you, the tailor simply ask you to drop the fabric. The shabby measures used just to fulfill the regular routine, then the may just give you any date that pops up in their head just to get some advance payments from you. Keeping to agreement can earn you good reputation, which bring increase in client base and more too.
a) How can you keep to a promise? It starts at the point a client walks into your shop, listen very carefully and understand the client’s choice of design. Having total knowledge of what the customer is expecting from you.
b) Asking the customer when he expects the cloth to be ready? Depending on the customer's date, many wish to accept or not due to your schedule. Remember to set a target and work very hard to achieve such targets.
c) Keep the chosen style and the exact measurement; it is important that you sew the customer’s cloth according to agreed design with the right size.

Avoid Shoddy Work:
Many a times tailor fail to give a cloth the needed attention the fabric requires, roughening the fabrics, burning with iron, staining the cloth etc. Handle a fabric with utmost care and attention that is necessary which can be neat enough to use after it is sewn. Keeping the fabric in a neat nylon to avoid dust stains, cutting on a neat surface, weaving the inside, iron and folding neatly before and after the desire is completed.

Don’t Miss Materials.
If you are careless about your working tools, misplacement of a customer’s material will be among the major challenges you will be dealing with. It is natural for things to go missing at times but that is not a reason to misplace any material given to you by a customer be it magazine, fabric or the measurement.
Making shelves were finish materials can be kept and some kind of bags (Ghana must go bags) were unsown materials can be kept is paramount. Mistakenly, you miss place a customer's fabric, it is only proper that you replace it before the customer comes asking for it. what if the fabric is customized or difficult to find? it will be best you call the customers attention to it, express how sorry you are and ready to replace it, if they customer won't mind.

Poor Finishing
A person’s workmanship is determined by the quality of job produce. many tailor don’t pay attention to detail. They many come off with great designs but don’t always give the design a neat finishing. It might be something as little as tacking a button, hemming the mouth, sewing with a matching thread, gumming with a hot iron before joining a collar, cuffs etc. These can make a cloth not to be appealing to a customer.
The service of a tailor is always needed because every day every human need to wear cloths either to attend an occasion or just look good. Passion for sewing and wearing good clothes can turn Nigerian’s indigenous tailors into making millions.

The writer of this article is dangerously maaaadddd ..... Wetin be all these ones na ?...what's the purpose of this articlehuh ,to paint osinbajo in Golden image ba? see this is a very useless article ... osinbajo will never be president no matter how you people try to paint him... he's a follow follow man ...he has been used and dumped already by the northerners jare.
