It's easy to love a person who has zero ambition and just accepts anything you throw at him. For all the intellect Osinbajo has, they clearly don't consult him before formulating policy even in his areas of expertise. The poster just want to do a hagiography, and we've read it.

Nigeria's Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo SAN, is the first Nigerian Vice-President that is widely accepted across all geopolitical zones of Nigeria, not minding his ethnicity or his religion. Following the events that had the VP as a guest, the smile on the people knows no bound. The women, youths and the children are always glad to have him around, chanting the President's name as a sign of their perception of his loyalty to his boss and struggling for handshakes.

One of the love that bound the masses, the school children, market women and some of the poorest family is "Osinbajo", walking from school to school, market to market, home to home and even paying surprise visits to small scale business owners. I believe it is safe to call the Prof. "the People's Vice - President", owing to the fact that the vice - presidents I knew would rather prefer to go to the elites companies, established investments to lobby for contracts and travel to meet the who-is-who across the world.

Although the Vice - President is not lobbying for Nigeria's top political seat, yet he is one of the most qualified.

Yes, the Northerners love for Buhari's Deputy is real and I have being following up with many political related analysis, while some are real, few others are just fake narratives, not taking cognizance of facts and documentation of the majority and the dignitaries perception about the former University Teacher.

In retrospect, one could wonder if the learned silk has seven lives, giving in more energy, never relenting or tired to do more service to the nation. Even when it seems like a busy day, Osinbajo still defies protocol to attend functions in the far Northern states of Nigeria. So what more could we say of the maestro?

The verified facts remains that, Professor Yemi Osinbajo SAN has taken the Northern Geopolitical zone of Nigeria as his second home, having traversed to all nooks and crannies of the states. Pastor is never scared whenever he visits, knowing that he has performed and he is still performing at his best irrespective of the region or religion, making him the most hardworking and unsentimental vice-president the black most populous nation ever had.

It is a known fact that the northerners do invest massively in Agriculture, and other businesses. The Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo led Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council is already counting its gains, for both local and foreign based investors. In lieu of this, the north is a great beneficiary and couldn't hide their gratitude as their businesses keeps booming.

Despite the fear of the dying insurgency in the north, Osinbajo have visited villages, markets, functions (both public and private) as keynote speaker and also commissioning of projects. These and many more qualities made him more acceptable and in the chess of political bargains.

In the build up of the 2019 electioneering process, the VP escaped an helicopter crash in Kogi, the outpour of the public sympathy showed that Osinbajo is not just love by God, he is also admired by men both in the north and across the nation.

Indeed, the northerners appreciates loyalty and do acknowledge the best brains, that is "Why the northerners love Buhari's Deputy, Osinbajo", devoid of the political calculations by some minorities who are mere jobbers.

Chai! This ain't reasonable. Besides where is that boy, timi frank sef. You need to be in the correctional ward.

Lydia696:
How Reasonable is the FIRS 90bn/40bn allegation?

Apparently this has been on for a while, I just heard about it and it only took me about 20 seconds to spot a number of holes in this story started by former APC spokesman Timi Frank, accusing Osinbajo and the FIRS of misappropriation of money meant for the latter to fund the 2019 elections.

Firstly, the incongruities in the stories being reported by the media are conspicuous. With some of them putting the figure at N90bn and others claiming N40bn, which one are we to believe?

Also, how does the FIRS fund a campaign with N90 billion when in its past four years of operations the agency has not received up to N100 billion in any year as Cost of Collection from the Federation Accounts Allocation Committee, FAAC? How can they simply afford it? Bear in mind that it is from this remittance that the agency pays salaries and trains over 8000 members of staff. It is from the same pocket they run their over 150 offices nationwide.

Furthermore I know from the long years a close friend worked at the agency, that their budget and expenditure approval processes pass through the Budget Office and the Ministry of Finance after which it is then presented to the National Assembly for Appropriation into Law; this is a House comprising different political parties who would obviously put their own parties’ interests before others’. How would they (from the opposition party) have simply allowed such propaganda that is injurious to their own party’s ambitions fly?

I could go on and on, but even a toddler can already see through this poorly orchestrated distraction. This infamous 90bn story is outright falsehood that was fabricated and being circulated for the selfish political reasons of men that are bereft of progressive ideas.

If sowore re-arrest has clouded you sense of judgement, then the award is a distraction to his passion for progress.

Abdulazeez99:
The Wole Soyinka Centre for Investigative Journalism has postponed the presentation of award to Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.

Prof Osinbajo was initially scheduled to be presented the Anti-Corruption Defender Award at the ceremony on Monday, Igbere TV reports.

However, a statement on Monday by the centre’s executive director/CEO, Motunrayo Alaka, said the postponement was due to the repression of free speech in recent times especially the incident between the Department of State Services (DSS) and convener of RevolutionNow protest, Omoyele Sowore.

Mr Sowore was rearrested while in court on Friday just hours after his release on Thursday night.

“The Wole Soyinka Centre for Investigative Journalism has postponed the presentation of award to the Nigerian Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo,” the statement said.

“The postponement was decided on, to align with protests against the repression of freedom of speech in recent times, especially the incidence between the Department of State Security (DSS) and Omoyele Sowore, Publisher of Sahara Reporters, on Friday 6 December.”

Mr Alaka added that Osinbajo “himself shares this awareness and the inappropriateness of the award at this point.”

The statement, however, said the award presentation programme would hold as scheduled.

“13 journalists from print, online, television, radio, photo, and editorial cartoon categories will be celebrated. Veteran photojournalist, Sunmi Smart-Cole, and Amnesty Nigeria will also be presented honorary awards of the Lifetime Award for Journalistic Excellence and the Anti-Corruption Defender Award (Human Rights Specialty) respectively,” it said.

PoliticsRe: Blaming Osinbajo, Others In Buhari's Cabinet Over Dss Misconduct Is Mischievous by Lifted2000: 1:11am On Dec 08, 2019
Osinbajo has rescued Nigeria when he was the acting president, so we need to know he set undeniable records that brought the country this far.

Most Nigerians are easily emotionally drown to negative thoughts and base their judgements on assumptions.
murecool:
*RICHARD AKINOLA, GROUP TO FALANA: BLAMING OSINBAJO, OTHER LAWYERS IN BUHARI'S CABINET OVER DSS MISCONDUCT IS MISCHIEVOUS*

*Both recall how VP as Ag. President acted in similar case when DSS invaded National Assembly

*Buck stops squarely on Mr. President's desk, not lawyers in FEC

Veteran journalist and lawyer, Richard Akinola and a political group have faulted Femi Falana, SAN over comments that the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) should discipline all lawyers in the Buhari administration because of the desecration of the law courts by officers of the DSS yesterday at a Federal High Court in Abuja.

In his reaction on Saturday, Mr Akinola said, “With the greatest respect to my good friend, Femi Falana, SAN, l beg to disagree with him in respect of his statement in respect of the Vice president on the Sowore saga.

Falana was indicting the Vice President and other Learned Silks in the cabinet for not speaking up on the saga. “It's necessary to put things in proper perspective. There is only ONE presidency. By my understanding, the VP cannot be issuing statements on an issue when there is a sitting president.

He added that, “Recall that when Osinbajo was acting as president and similar incident happened at the National Assembly, he took action. The invasion of NASS started at about 7am and by 10.30 am, Lawal Daura had been fired as the DG of DSS.

“So, it would be unfair to attack the VP on this matter because he is just the VP. The buck stops at the president's table. If in the president's wisdom, he refused to take action, he must have his reason. Ours is to speak out for him to take action,” he said.

Similarly, a political group in Nigeria has described as mischievous the comments credited to Mr. Falana.

Falana reportedly made the statement following the re-arrest of Omoyele Sowore, convener, #RevolutionNow protest, and his co-defendant, Olawale Bakare by the Department of State Services (DSS).

In a press statement signed by Peter Oladele, Publicity Secretary of the Initiative to Save Democracy (ISD) the group said the lawyers in the Buhari administration have not acted in any unprofessional capacity to warrant any disciplinary action.

Besides, the group noted that regarding the Vice President in particular it is an unrealistic expectation to require him to respond officially on the misconduct of the DSS agents because the executive powers of the Federal Government are vested only in the person of the President not the Vice President or the lawyers in the Cabinet.

"Besides the President who has the Executive powers in the 1999 Nigerian Constitution as Amended, the only person who has responsibility on this matter is the Attorney-General of the Federation," the group explained, adding "this facts are well known to Mr. Falana."

The Initiative to Save Democracy (ISD) also recalled that while the VP was acting for President Buhari and the DSS invaded the National Assembly, Prof Osinbajo acted in defense of rule of law and democracy in the country by removing the head of the organization and condemning the invasion. ISD then asked "why does Mr. Falana now think the VP or the lawyers in the cabinet could not advise the President to act in a similar way, afterall it is the same Buhari Presidency?

“Mr Falana is a Senior Advocate of Nigeria and he should know that Section 11 of the NBA’s Legal Practitioners Act has specific penalties for unprofessional conduct and there is no provision for disciplining lawyers for the actions of other people,” the group said.

“So how do you call for disciplinary actions against colleagues who have not acted in any unprofessional capacity or have not breached the rules of professional conduct,” the group quizzed.

The group then advised Mr Falana to rid himself of any emotional outbursts that could overshadow what is otherwise a noble work he is doing on the Sowore matter, stressing that, as a senior lawyer he should know who has what powers and where the buck stops in a Presidential system of government such as Nigeria is currently practising.

“As a group we have condemned the actions of the DSS and have called for the immediate release of Mr Sowore because the court has ordered his release. We also condemn the re-arrest of Mr Sowore by the DSS it only puts Nigeria in bad light. And we should not use this unfortunate incidents to dent the image of lawyers in the Buhari cabinet."

Suddenly sowore's people started dragging him with the dss and they dragged him into the court room. The judge seeing this, rose and went to her chambers. The dss didn't enter the court room to arrest him rather his supporters dragged him in with the dss official.

Nobody chased the judge out, she rose and went to her chambers on seeing squabbles. Later on, the dss official left the court room and waited for him outside the court. Thank you all. Behold my eye witness account".

Nairaland GeneralLesson From London Bridge Stabbing by Lifted2000(op): 11:18am On Dec 03, 2019
I was watching a recap of Met Police Commissioner Cressida Dick’s brief interview on the London Bridge stabbing some minutes ago and I gained the gusto to write this short piece, realizing that since the incident, she, Simon Steven who is head of the National Health Service and Sadiq Khan, Mayor of London are the only public office holders who have given elaborate public address on the issue.

So why has PM Boris Johnson who tweeted to praise the commuters who held down the suspect before the arrival of police not said anything elaborate about it? Why has he not come to address the nation? Did the Queen not hear about it? Have you wondered why she hasn’t issued a statement yet?

One thing I’ve noticed amongst others since I moved to the UK is that the people don’t blame everything on the Prime Minister. They hold other office holders accountable like the Mayor, in fact, especially the Mayor unlike back in Nigeria where we hold the President responsible for everything.

In all candor the people are not in any way willing to be accountable for anything, a Nigerian could beat the lights, endangering his own life and that of his passengers’ and still mutter beneath his breath, “if not for Buhari there won’t be traffic”.

But I have also come to the realization that this mental laziness stems largely from ignorance, some of these people truly do not know; it is my explanation for the tons of misdirected agitations and protests that I have witnessed back home in Nigeria.

Why did President Buhari not come out to say something about the major market that caught fire in Lagos? Why did he ‘ignore’ the skirmish between the Nigerian Police and the Army?

Certain folks have been locked up by certain security agencies, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo is a lawyer, why is he not pushing for their release? It’s simple, he is not the DG or spokesperson of those agencies. Let’s hold the DGs of DSS, NIA, etc responsible for their actions.

For every functioning system there is the structure, the organization and a hierarchy. As it works in the various establishments where we work is about the same way it works in governance. You don’t put a call through to the chairman before stationery gets restocked, and when there’s been a spat between two employees, the Chief Executive Officer doesn’t necessarily have to hear about it where there’s a Head of Department.

Protocol and process are words Nigerians need to get familiar with, it’ll do everyone a great deal of good knowing who they are to call when the occasion demands it; you don’t put your Vice President on blast for unlawful detention of activists when the Department of State Security has a Director-General who is responsible for its affairs, that’s apex-level ignorance and perhaps until we learn this, our rightful outbursts will keep getting treated like a needle in a haystack.

God bless Nigeria.

Nairaland GeneralPMB Nigeria’s 59th Independence Speech by Lifted2000(op): 7:44am On Oct 01, 2019
President Muhammadu Buhari’s speech to mark Nigeria’s 59th Independence

October 1, 2019

DEAR Compatriots,

October 1 of each year is an opportunity for us to reflect and thank God for his endless blessings on our country.

It is also a time for us, collectively, to remember the sacrifices made by our founders and great leaders past; by soldiers, by distinguished public servants; by traditional leaders, by our workers — sacrifices on which Nigeria has been built over the 59 years since Independence in 1960; and rededicate ourselves to attaining the goals which we have set for ourselves: a united, prosperous and purposeful nation in the face of 21st century opportunities and challenges.

In the past four years, the majority of Nigerians have committed to Change for the Better. Indeed, this Administration was re-elected by Nigerians on a mandate to deliver positive and enduring Change – through maintaining our National Security; restoring sustainable and inclusive Economic Growth and Development; and fighting Corruption against all internal and external threats.

This Change can only be delivered if we are united in purpose, as individuals and as a nation. We must all remain committed to achieving this positive and enduring Change. As I stated four years ago, “Change does not just happen… We must change our lawless habits, our attitude to public office and public trust… simply put, to bring about change, we must change ourselves by being law-abiding citizens.”

Security:

Good Governance and Economic Development cannot be sustained without an enabling environment of peace and security. In the last four years, we have combatted the terrorist scourge of Boko Haram. We owe a debt of gratitude to our gallant men and women in arms, through whose efforts we have been able to achieve the present results. We are also grateful to our neighbours and allies – within the region and across the world – who have supported us on this front.

The capacity of our armed forces to defend our territorial integrity continues to be enhanced by the acquisition of military hardware as well as continued improvements in the working conditions of our service men and women.

The Ministry of Police Affairs has been resuscitated to oversee the development and implementation of strategies to enhance internal security. My recent assent to the Nigerian Police Trust Fund (Establishment) Act has created a legal framework to support our Police with increased fiscal resources to enhance their law enforcement capabilities.

These initiatives are being complemented by the ongoing recruitment of 10,000 constables into the Nigeria Police Force. This clearly demonstrates our commitment to arrest the incidence of armed robbery, kidnapping and other violent crimes across our nation.

We remain equally resolute in our efforts to combat militant attacks on our oil and gas facilities in the Niger Delta and accelerate the Ogoni Clean-up to address long-standing environmental challenges in that region.

The recent redeployment of the Niger Delta Development Commission from the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, to the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs underscores our commitment to enhance the living standards of our communities in the Niger Delta, through coordinated and appropriate programmes.

Our attention is increasingly being focused on cyber-crimes and the abuse of technology through hate speech and other divisive material being propagated on social media. Whilst we uphold the Constitutional rights of our people to freedom of expression and association, where the purported exercise of these rights infringes on the rights of other citizens or threatens to undermine our National Security, we will take firm and decisive action.

In this regard, I reiterate my call for all to exercise restraint, tolerance and mutual respect in airing their grievances and frustrations. Whilst the ongoing national discourse on various political and religious issues is healthy and welcome, we must not forget the lessons of our past – lessons that are most relevant on a day such as this.

The path of hatred and distrust only leads to hostility and destruction. I believe that the vast majority of Nigerians would rather tread the path of peace and prosperity, as we continue to uphold and cherish our unity.

Accelerating sustainable and inclusive economy growth

This administration inherited a skewed economy, where the Oil Sector comprised only 8% of Gross Domestic Product but contributed 70% of government revenue and 90% foreign exchange earnings over the years. Past periods of relatively high economic growth were driven by our reliance on Oil Sector revenues to finance our demand for imported goods and services. Regrettably, previous governments abandoned the residual Investment-driven Non-Oil Sector, which constituted 40% of Gross Domestic Product and comprised agriculture, livestock, agro-processing, arts, entertainment, mining and manufacturing activities that provide millions of jobs for able-bodied Nigerians and utilize locally available raw materials and labour for production.

To address this imbalance, our commitment to achieving economic diversification has been at the heart of our economic strategies under the Economic Recovery and Growth Plan, which I launched on the 5th of April, 2017.

This medium-term development plan charted the trajectory for our economy to exit from recession and return to the path of sustainable, diversified and inclusive growth for Nigerians. Pursuant to these reforms, the economy has recovered and we have had 9 successive quarters of growth since our exit from recession. The exchange rate in the last 3 years has remained stable, with robust reserves of US$42.5 billion, up from US$23 billion in October 2016.

Learning from the mistakes of the past, this Administration is committed to responsibly managing our oil wealth endowments. We will continue to prudently save our oil income and invest more in the non-oil job-creating sectors.

In this regard, we are significantly increasing investments in critical infrastructure. Last year, capital releases only commenced with the approval of the Budget in June 2018. However, as at 20th June this year, up to N1.74 trillion had been released for capital projects in the 2018 fiscal year.

Implementation of the 2019 Capital Budget, which was only approved in June 2019, will be accelerated to ensure that critical priority projects are completed or substantially addressed. The Ministry of Finance, Budget and National Planning has been directed to release N600 billion for Capital Expenditure in the next 3 months.

To maximise impact, we shall continue to increasingly welcome and encourage private capital for infrastructural development through Public Private Partnerships. Through the Road Infrastructure Tax Credit Scheme, which I initiated in January this year, we are giving incentives to private sector inflow of over N205 billion in 19 Nigerian roads and bridges of 794.4km across in 11 States of the Federation.

As we push to diversify the economy, we still remain focused on optimizing the revenues generated from the oil and gas sector. We will, working with the Legislature, soon pass the Petroleum Industry Bill and amendments to the Deep Offshore Act and Inland Basin Production Sharing Contracts Act into law, to ensure Government obtains a fair share of oil revenues, whilst encouraging private sector investment.

We will also continue our fight against illegal bunkering of crude oil and the smuggling of refined petroleum products across our borders, including the diligent prosecution and conviction of offenders found guilty of these acts. Whilst Nigeria remains committed to free and fair continental and international trade, we will not hesitate to take all necessary steps to tackle illegal smuggling, transshipment and other predatory trade practices that destroy jobs in our country.

We are resolute in reforming the power sector. In August this year, we launched the Presidential Power Initiative to modernize the National Grid in 3 phases: starting from 5 Gigawatts to 7 Gigawatts, then to 11 Gigawatts by 2023, and finally 25 Gigawatts afterwards. This programme, in partnership with the German Government and Siemens, will provide end-to-end electrification solutions that will resolve our transmission and distribution challenges.

The programme will also look to localize the development and assembly of smart meters as well as the operations and maintenance capabilities of transmission and distribution infrastructure.

I am pleased with the improved inter-agency collaboration between the Ministry of Power and the regulators in the banking and power sectors to ensure that electricity sales, billings and collections are automated and become cashless.

These initiatives are important to ensure that the technical and collection losses in the sector are substantially reduced. I remain confident that Nigerians will have affordable and uninterrupted electricity supply in the not too distant future.

Our efforts to improve the power sector will complement other infrastructure investments projects under the Presidential Infrastructure Development Fund, which is investing in the Mambilla Power Plant project, as well as key economic road infrastructure such as the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, Second Niger Bridge and Abuja-Kano Expressway. The first set of these projects remain on track to be completed by 2022.

Our journey to food security and self-sufficiency is well underway. We have made remarkable progress in almost all segments of the agriculture value chain, from fertilizers to rice, to animal feed production. We shall sustain these policies to ensure additional investments are channeled, thereby creating more jobs in the sector. We must not go back to the days of importing food and thereby exporting jobs.

Our commitment to achieving macroeconomic stability and economic diversification, has been underscored by the merger of the Ministry of Finance with the Ministry of Budget and National Planning.

This combined Ministry has the important mandate to enhance the management of domestic and global fiscal risks; coordinate policies with the trade and monetary authorities; raise and deploy revenues to fund budgeted expenditure; and integrate annual budgets and medium-term fiscal strategies.

With this, our revenue-generating and reporting agencies will come under much greater scrutiny, going forward, as the new performance management framework will reward exceptional revenue performance, while severe consequences will attend failures to achieve agreed revenue targets.

I recently constituted an Economic Advisory Council to advise me on inclusive and sustainable macroeconomic, fiscal and monetary policies. This independent body will work with relevant Cabinet members and the heads of key monetary, fiscal and trade agencies to ensure we remain on track as we strive for collective prosperity. However, we are also committed to ensure that the inconvenience associated with any painful policy adjustments, is moderated, such that the poor and the vulnerable, who are most at risk, do not bear the brunt.

Our ongoing N500 billion Special Intervention Programme continues to target these vulnerable groups, through the Home-grown School Feeding Programme, Government Economic Empowerment Programme, N-Power Job Creation Programme, loans for traders and artisans, Conditional Cash Transfers to the poorest families and social housing scheme.

To institutionalize these impactful programmes, we created the Ministry for Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development which shall consolidate and build on our achievements to date. To the beneficiaries of these programmes, I want to reassure you that our commitment to social inclusion will only increase.

Our population growth rate remains amongst the highest in the world, presenting both challenges as well as opportunities. It is our collective responsibility to ensure that we provide adequate resources to meet the basic needs of our teeming youth.

Accordingly, we shall continue to invest in education, health, water and sanitation, as well as food security, to ensure that their basic needs are met, while providing them with every opportunity to live peaceful, prosperous and productive lives.

Fighting corruption and restoring good governance:

On fighting corruption, our institutional reforms to enforce the Treasury Single Account policy, introduce the Whistle-blowers’ Initiative, expand the coverage of the Integrated Payroll Personnel and Information System as well as the Government Integrated Management Information System have saved billions of Naira over the last four years, and deterred the rampant theft and mismanagement of public funds that have plagued our public service.

The Ministry of Justice, the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission, and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission will continue to address this menace. We are determined to ensure that transparency and good governance are institutionalized in public service.

We must commit to installing a culture of Good Governance in all we do. This Administration has fought against corruption, by investigating and prosecuting those accused of embezzlement and the misuse of public resources. We have empowered teams of prosecutors, assembled detailed databases of evidence, traced the proceeds of crimes and accelerated the recovery of stolen funds.

Furthermore, we partnered with our friends abroad to combat tax evasion, smuggling, terrorism and illicit financial flows. In June 2018, I assented to the Mutual Assistance in Criminal Matters Act, to provide a domestic legal framework for obtaining international assistance in criminal matters.

This measure has already strengthened our law enforcement agencies in obtaining evidence, investigating suspects and facilitating the recovery, forfeiture and confiscation of property implicated as proceeds of crime.

An example is the US$300 million recently identified as part of the Abacha money-laundering case, working closely with the Government of the United States of America. The Federal Ministry of Justice is working with the US Department of Justice to conclude a Memorandum of Understanding to expedite the repatriation of these funds.

The P&ID Arbitral Award has underscored the manner in which significant economic damage has been caused by the past activities of a few corrupt and unpatriotic Nigerians.

The policies that we are putting in place today are to ensure such criminal and unpatriotic acts do not go without consequences. Our renewed partnership with the 9th National Assembly will facilitate the swift passage of enabling laws that will institutionalize these anti-corruption efforts in our criminal justice system.

In this connection, I call upon our States to intensify their own efforts to instill greater fiscal transparency and accountability. And to ensure greater fiscal efficiency and optimum use of our very scarce resources.

The blight of Corruption is fighting back. Nevertheless, this is a battle that we shall see through and this is a war, which we shall win by the Grace of God.

I will also call upon all Nigerians, from every walk of life, to combat Corruption at every turn. By choosing to question and confront corrupt practices, by reporting unethical practices or through whistleblowing. Together, we can overcome corruption and will no longer be a country defined by corruption.

Fellow Nigerians, let me reiterate my call for unity across our dear nation.

Nigeria will emerge from our present challenges stronger and more resilient than ever – but only if all of us join hands to entrench Good Governance, foster Inclusive Economic Development, and defend and protect our Nation from all those who would wish us ill.

I thank you most sincerely and wish you a Happy Independence Anniversary.

May God bless you all, and may He continue to bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
PoliticsRe: Could This Be A Reason For Osinbajo’s Travails? by Lifted2000: 7:09pm On Sep 30, 2019
Stop this comment hunting, Osinbajo has no worries about his service and dedication to Nigerians
Gossipninja:
This is not the best of times for the Vice President Professor Yemi Osinbajo.

Since the beginning of Buhari’s second term in office, there has been speculations on whether the VP would continue to enjoy the sort of legroom he was allowed in the government during the regime’s first term in office, or whether that legroom would be constricted now that the elections are over and he has presumably outlived his electoral usefulness.

The speculations were recently oxygenated first by an announcement that the VP would henceforth seek presidential approvals in the running of the parastatals and agencies which are statutorily under him.

This was quickly followed by other signposts such as the dissolution of the Economic Management Team headed by the VP and its replaced by a new Economic Advisory Council and the dissolution of the Special Presidential Investigation Panel set up by the VP when he was the Acting President. On Tuesday, September 24, 2019, there was news that the Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Ibrahim Magu claimed that there is corruption in the National Social Investment Programme (N-SIP), supervised by the Office of the Vice President.

However, a campaign photo of Prof. Yemi Osinbajo sighted by ZENITHNAIJA has sparked speculations to be reason of his travails.

Obsession took our them as they went on to fly banner of the man who never made a public intention know to this group campaigners and the organizers pre-planned their own arrest.

He is focused on advancing the Nigeria Economy.
Ecstasy154:
Coordinator of a youth group that organised a political rally for Vice President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo, last week in Akure, Bamise Akintomide, has been arrested by the police in Ondo State, SaharaReporters has learnt.

It was learnt that he is currently being detained at the Criminal and Investigation Bureau Department of the Ondo State Police Command headquarters in Akure, the capital.

A source, who confirmed Akintomide's arrest to our correspondent on Monday, said he must have been picked up for organising a rally in support of the Vice President.

The source said, “He (Akintomide) was arrested by the police. I cannot really say if he was directly picked up or invited for questioning.

“But I can confirm to you that he has been at the police headquarters in Akure since weekend and has been detained over there.

“I know his arrest must be connected with the rally he organised last week for Vice President, Osinbajo, at the APC secretariat.

“A day after he organised the rally, he received lots of strange calls asking him irrelevant questions.”

Commissioner of Police in Ondo State, Undie Adie, denied the arrest of Akintomide when contacted on Monday.

However, a police source told SaharaReporters on Monday that, “He is in our detention although his people are trying to ensure his bail.

“His arrest was an instruction from above and that is all I can tell you for now.”

Akintomide had on Thursday organised a rally for Osinbajo's candidacy by unveiling his 2023 presidential campaign poster and banner on the streets of Akure.

Spokesperson for the APC in Ondo, Alex Kalejaye, said that the party had no link whatsoever to the group.

PoliticsRe: Osinbajo Is A Catalyst, Tested, Certified & Above Politics Of Calumny- Dr Olufon by Lifted2000: 3:53pm On Sep 30, 2019
A man with passion that precedes power with an administrative and leadership style that is second to none and best of its kind. Osinbajo remains the only cool headed and productive leader any day and anytime.

z07ion:
TWO strategic economic thrusts in the month of August, 2019, by President Buhari: first, declaration of Nigeria's attainment of food security/immediate ban on forex allocation for food importation through the Central Bank of Nigeria (on the 13th), ; and second, partial closure of the nation's northern border with Benin Republic due to massive smuggling activities, especially of rice (on the 20th), were no doubt, positive ideas of government to boost patronage of locally-made products; and which the newly inaugurated Economic Advisory Council (EAC), must advantageously employ as a starting point to further deepen the execution of the Economic Recovery Growth Plan (ERGP)!
The body will be required to advise the President on economic policy matters, fiscal analysis, economic growth and a range of internal and global economic issues in collaboration with relevant cabinet members and head of monetary and fiscal agencies and will report directly to the executive President unlike the disbanded Economic Monitoring Team (EMT), chaired by the Vice President, Professor 'Yemi Osinbajo, with a view to achieving quicker implementation and eliminate bureaucratic bottlenecks in this second and last term of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC)!
Although, the EMT under Osinbajo's watch performed creditably, in spite of the self-inflicted economic recession foisted on the nation by the failed PDP 16 years of woeful administrations, ulterior motives have been adduced to the President's move by government detractors who believed that Osinbajo was being sidelined by the Presidency "cabal" which would not want him to succeed his principal in 2023!

VP Osinbajo is constitutionally Chairman of the National Economic Council, current Chairman of the Governing Board of National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA); National Boundary Commission, the Border Communities Development Agencies and the Niger Delta Holding Company - a limited liability company owned by the three tiers of government; but it was being alleged that the President was planning to strip him also of his brain-child passion known as the Special Intervention Programmes (SIP), which comprises of the Trader Money Scheme; N-Power/School Feeding programmes and others, while some of Oshinbajo's aides had been transferred out of Presidential Villa and seconded to MDA's!

All of the welfare programmes previously under the VP's purview/supervision are expected to be transferred to the newly-created Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, headed by Sadiya Umar Faruk, according to the allegations!

Without losing sight of the President's core mission to provide adequate security, actualize successful economy and destroy institutional corruption, this second term aggressive moves within three months of inauguration could safely be interpreted to mean only one thing; a determined General who MUST win the battle at all costs by deploying his arsenals in the right directions under a unified command! The Presidency is ONE, because both the President and his Vice were elected with ONE TICKET!

TEMPORARY BORDER CLOSURE IS YIELDING POSITIVE RESULTS!
Nigerian borders were not normally shut except for very logical reasons which have to do with all forms of sabotage that border on infiltration of the economy: through illegal importation/exportation of foods, beverages, goods/services; or with security: smuggling of dangerous weapons, illegal immigration, terrorism or external war! The Federal Government was not unmindful of economic saboteurs, whose sole ambition was selfish aggrandizement through illicit trades and gains in collaboration with unfaithful ECOWAS neighbours and was poised to destroy their structures/cartels where they existed by destabilizing all their nefarious activities with the combined efforts of security agents at the land border posts, sea and air ports!

The Economic Community Of West African States (ECOWAS), bloc which could not call its saboteurs to order, were mostly concerned with the implementation of the Africa Continental Free Trade Act of which Nigeria is a signatory rather than the welfare and economic prosperity of the Nigerian people whose fundamental rights were being trampled upon through the criminal dumping of banned foreign goods and products on the nation! They strongly believed that Buhari's stringent measures would not prevent smugglings into Nigeria but insisted, through its Parliament for the re-opening of the borders which had remained shut for over TWO MONTHS and promised to support a co-ordinated fight against the menace! But President Buhari told a delegation of Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA), on Friday, 20th September, 2019, in Abuja that the border closure was yielding positive results/dividends!

THE EAC MEMBERS ARE SEASONED AND GLOBAL-QUOTED AND TESTED ECONOMISTS!
The Chairman of the 7-member Presidential Economic Advisory Council is Prof. 'Doyin Salami and Dr. Mohammed Sagagi, Vice Chairman; Dr. Mohammed Salisu, Secretary; other members of the crack economic team are Prof.Charles Chukwuma Soludo, former Governor of the CBN; Mr. Bismack Rewane, a renowned business economist,; Mr. Ode Ojowu, a former presidential chief economic adviser; Iyabo Masha, former International Monetary Fund (IMF), Country Representative for Sierra Leone. Though not recognised by the Constitution, EAC will influence the President to take immediate and decisive actions this time around. They will hold monthly technical sessions as well as scheduled quarterly meetings with the President but the chairman could meet with Mr. President at short notice over pressing/urgent matters!

URGENT EXPECTATIONS FROM EAC!
According to a Public Finances Analyst, Mr. Olusegun Lemo, Nigerians would expect the new advisory body to urgently analyse current indices in respect of fiscal/monetary policies as they affect the economy viz: Gross Domestic Product (GDP), rate @ 2.85%, annual GDP growth @ 1.94%; unemployment rate @ 23.1%, inflation @ 11%; interest rate that the CBN recently held @13.5%, cash reserve ratio @ 22.5%, and Public Finances Crude Oil is $70 bpd. in order to shore up revenue that would address the masses unfriendly TWO DIGITS ratings of unemployment, inflation and interest rates to enable government to lift 100million Nigerians out of poverty annually from 2019 and in subsequent years ahead, since government administration is a continuum!

TWO OTHER SWEEPING CHANGES IN QUICK SUCCESSION!
Head of Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs. Winifred Ekanem Oyo-Ita was suspended indefinitely on 19th September, 2019; for her to be investigated over allegation of over a bank account deposit of N3 billion naira contract scandal by EFCC/money laundering financial crime linked to her through her assistant while she was a Director in the Ministry of Petroleum Resources. She has been replaced by Dr. Folashade 'Yemi-Esan, with immediate effect!
Chairman of the Presidential Investigation Panel on the Recovery of Public Property, (SPIP), Mr. Okoi Obono-Obla, was suspended on 21st September 2019, to face investigation by the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission, in respect of alleged certificate forgery and extortion perpetrated while in office as head of the ad hoc body!

AFENIFERE DESCRIBES OSINBAJO'S OFFICE AS IRRELEVANT, REDUNDANT AND INCAPACITATED!
The Yoruba socio-cultural group, Afenifere, has faulted President Buhari for inaugurating the Economic Advisory Council (EAC), to replace the Economic Management Team (EMT), being headed by his Vice, Professor 'Yemi Osinbajo. They claimed that the move was to render the second-in- command moribund, though his principal unequivocally stated that EAC would address mounting economic challenges with a view to attaining Nigeria's position among the first 20 economically-viable countries by the year 2020 and also achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG's), by the year 2030! The group also insinuated that the development was a Northern agenda in a permutation, to sideline Osinbajo and by extension the South West, ahead of 2023 Presidency, which is rotational between the North and the South!

During the first term when Osinbajo held fort as acting President for President Buhari who had health challenges, and no lacuna was noticed as he discharged the duties of the two men creditably, Afenifere did not allege any discrepancies in the hierarchy! Afenifere must be reminded that both men are regarded as associates in the Constitution!

We disagree with the myopic, nepotic and tribalistic position of Afenifere and their ilk’s who forgot that President Buhari acted within executive/constitutional rights and powers which allowed him to deputize his Vice or the Ministers or any other officer in the public service of Nigeria to act on his behalf as he felt appropriate in the process of diligent exigencies of services, according to the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999, Chapter vi Section 148(1)! Positioning Osinbajo for presidency in the 2023 General Elections is nothing short of sheer absurdity and a political miscalculation deliberately posited by Afenifere to heat up the polity!

Serious-minded Nigerians have no time for idle minds which would rather read negative meanings to every move of a determined APC Government which would stop at nothing but stamp an indelible mark of economic laurels in the sands of time for a country which global highly developed countries almost ran aground through an avalanche of horrible negative reports BUT would support the new drive to make this nation economically-viable by the 2020!
Nigeria will surely achieve this enviable status with the duo of BUHARI AND OSINBAJO in the saddle and in perfect control of the SHIP to the shame and detriment of the detractors! Whosoever God hath blessed, let no man curse!

What do you except from a cocaine belly filled Femi Fani Kayode. Anywhere belle face noise maker with chop and clean mouth brain
kidap:
Former Aviation Minister and chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party, Femi Fani-Kayode has called for the resignation of the Vice President of Nigeria, Yemi Osinbajo.

He made the call while reacting to Yemi Osinbajo’s declaration of his readiness to waive his constitutional immunity to “enable the most robust adjudication” of several baseless allegations, insinuation and falsehoods against his person and office by Timi Frank and one Katch Ononuju.

Timi Frank had alleged that Osinbajo’s “ongoing travails” was because he could not account for the N90billion received from the Federal Inland Revenue Service for the 2019 election.

He claimed to have reliable information from his sources in the presidency and dared to challenge the vice president in court.

Reacting to Osinbajo’s declaration on Thursday, Fani-Kayode said the vice president should not only waive his immunity but should also resign from his position to prove his innocence and challenge Timi Frank.

He said: “If you are really a man don’t just waive your immunity to sue Timi Frank but RESIGN from your position and take him on man to man.

“He will eat you for breakfast. I know that young man: he is a real Ijaw! Deeply courageous and tough as nails. You cannot intimidate him or break him.”
