After conceding defeat to Buhari, Jonathan was put under pressure to recant – Mu’azu
theeagleonline.com.ng

A former National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Adamu Mu’azu, has revealed that former President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, came under intense pressure to reverse his position after conceding defeat to the then candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Muhammadu Buhari, in the 2015 election.

The position of Mu’azu was made known on Thursday at the launch of a book: “On a Platter of Gold: How Jonathan won and lost Nigeria,” written by a former Minister of Sports in the Jonathan Administration, Bolaji Abdullahi, but now the National Publicity Secretary of the APC.

It will be recalled that Jonathan, the candidate of the PDP, before the conclusion of the announcement of the outcome of the election by the Independent National Electoral Commission conceded defeat to Buhari.

But Mu’azu said he came under intense pressure from different friends and associates not to give up power.
Mu’azu’s position was revealed by the Publisher of Ovation magazine, Dele Momodu, who said he spoke with him.
Momodu said during his meeting with Mu’azu, he related how Jonathan almost changed his mind to concede defeat to Buhari.

He said: “l have also read accounts of how President Goodluck Jonathan nearly changed his mind after congratulating the winner and wanted to use PDP operatives and apparatus to challenge the authenticity and validity of the election results in the courts, but the PDP Chairman, Alhaji Ahmed Adamu Mu’azu, blatantly refused to support such a move.

“When we spoke last week, he confirmed it was a true account of what happened and said President Jonathan was under intense pressure from different friends and associates not to give up power.
“He insists that his decision was to save his flag bearer from agents of chaos and save Nigeria from even bigger and unnecessary catastrophe.”

Christianity EtcThe Lamborghini built just for Pope Francis by lightblazingnow(op):
Pope Francis got a major vehicle upgrade on Nov.15 when luxury car company Lamborghini stopped by the Vatican to drop off the pontiff’s sweet new ride.

Francis, who typically uses Fiats and Fords to get around, was gifted a special-edition Lamborghini Huracan that was painted in the Vatican’s signature colors of white and gold.

Ad Personam, Lamborghini’s customisation department, created the specialty model. With this service, Lamborghini buyers can personalise their car with an infinite number of combinations of unique colors and materials.

The Huracan is the successor of the famous Gallardo, Lamborghini’s best-selling model ever. The Huracan comes with a 5.2-litre V10 engine that is capable of producing 593 BHP and 559 NM of torque. It is also capable of doing 0-100kmph in just 3.2 seconds and has a claimed top speed of 320kmph.

The pope blessed the car outside of the Casa Santa Marta, the Vatican guesthouse where he lives. He also signed the car’s hood.

But Francis doesn’t have any plans to drive around the streets of the Vatican in his new ride. Although it’s not a real Popemobile, the Huracan will sell for quite a bit of money. A Fiat 500L that once chauffeured Pope Francis around sold for an impressive $82,000.

The pontiff is selling the car with help from auction house Sotheby’s. The Huracan typically sells for around 183,000 euros, or $226,000, according to The Associated Press, but Francis’ special-edition car is expected to bring in much more than its sticker price.

Proceeds from the sale will go to charitable organizations whose missions align with the pope’s own concerns, Catholic news site Crux reports.

One of these groups helps rebuild the homes and churches of Iraqi Christians who have been persecuted by the so-called Islamic State. The pope also hopes to donate to a charity that provides medical aid in Africa and to one that helps migrant women who have become victims of trafficking, the Telegraph reports.

A Harley Davidson Dyna Glide motorcycle gifted to the pope in 2013 ended up selling for $327,000 at an auction house in Paris. A typical motorcycle of that make is usually worth about $13,000, according to The New York Times. A leather Harley Davidson jacket signed by Francis was auctioned off at the same time for $77,485.

BREAKING: Drama as Perm Sec takes responsibility for Maina’s reinstatement
championnews.com.ng

The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Interior, Engineer Abubakar Magaji, has owned up to all the administrative lapses leading to the “erroneous reinstatement and promotion of Abdulrasheed Maina, former Chairman of the Presidential Task Force on Pension Reform.

Magaji, who stated this following barrage of evidence-based questions directed at him by members of the House of Representatives Ad hoc Committee investigating the circumstances surrounding the disappearance, reappearance, reinstatement and promotion of Mr. Maina, made the U-turn having first indicted the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Winifred Oyo-Ita, as being responsible for the letter directing Maina’s reinstatement.

However, Oyo-Ita in her defence before the panel marveled at the submission by the Permanent Secretary whom she described as “a senior permanent secretary in the civil service”, saying that Engr Magaji was being economical with the truth as her office never sent a letter directing the him to reinstate Maina.

It saddens my heart that Nigerians are sold in Libya like goats - President Buhari

Nigeria has resolved that all its citizens that are stranded in Libya and other parts of the world will be brought home and be rehabilitated. President Muhammadu Buhari gave the indications on Tuesday night in Abidjan where he is attending the EU-AU summit.
President Buhari who met with Nigerians in the Diaspora in Abidjan vowed to reduce the number of Nigerians heading for Europe illegally through the Sahara Desert and the Mediterranean Sea by providing basic social amenities such as education, healthcare, and food security at home. The President’s interaction with the Nigerian citizens in Cote d’Ivoire was reported on Wednesday by the Senior Special Assistant (Media & Publicity), Mr. Garba Shehu.

Buhari said that all necessary steps will be taken to stem the tide of illegal migration by Nigerians. He, however, noted that it was “very difficult to know the origin of the people who died’’, while attempting the perilous journey across the Mediterranean, because of lack of documentation.

“When it was announced that 26 Nigerians died recently in the Mediterranean, before they proved that they were all Nigerians, they buried them. “But the evidence I have from the Senior Special Assistant on Diaspora and Foreign Affairs, (Mrs. Abike Dabiri-Erewa) is that only three of them were identified as Nigerians. But I’ll not be surprised if the majority of them were Nigerians. “But anybody who died in the desert and Mediterranean without documents; to prove that he is a Nigerian, there is absolutely nothing we can do,’’ he said.

Reacting to a recent footage of the sale of Africans in Libya, President Buhari said it was appalling that “some Nigerians (in the footage) where being sold like goats for few dollars in Libya.’’ ‘‘After 43 years of Gadhafi, why are they recruiting so many people from the Sahel including Nigerians? All they learned was how to shoot and kill. They didn’t learn to be electricians, plumbers or any other trade,’’ he said. On domestic issues, Buhari said that there was ‘‘good news from home’’ in the area of security, economy and anti-corruption. “We are not doing too badly in trying to secure the country, improve the economy and deal with corruption. “We are doing our best at all levels including security.

It is absolute madness for people to blow others up in markets, churches, and mosques. No religion advocates violence. Justice is the basic thing all religions demand and you can’t go wrong if you do it,’’ he said. On food security, the President said that his vision of repositioning Nigeria as a food-secure nation is on course as the country is on the verge of attaining food security. He attributed the development to positive agricultural reform programmes and bumper harvest occasioned by good weather. According to the President, interventions through the Anchors Borrows Programme of the CBN and the Presidential Fertilizer Initiative, among others, have been very successful in the agricultural reform initiative.

“People have gone back to the farm. We got the CBN, agriculture minister and money was provided at very low interest to farmers and the farmers responded and it was very positive. “We are lucky that we are in a position to feed ourselves.

So we are going to have food security in Nigeria earlier than anybody ever thought,’’ he noted. The President advised Nigerians in Cote D’ Ivoire to be good ambassadors in their host country, warning that the Embassy will not hesitate to repatriate those who tarnish the image of the country abroad.

Nigerians listen.
We are ALL Nigerians once we leave the shores of Nigeria. Foreigners dont know Igbo, Hausa or Yoruba.
Team effort is what will make us like our neighbours who have gone ahead of us.
Ghana is now gradually becoming a developed nation because they dropped tribalism and focused on issue-based politics. Same as Rwanda, Namibia etc.

Now lets answer these questions;
1. Has Buhari improved the economy?
2. Has Buhari made Nigeria more secure?
3. Has Buhari improved unity in Nigeria?
4. Has Nigeria's global influence increased under him?
5. Has the private sector and small businesses thrived under Buhari?
6. Is government less wasteful under Buhari?
7. Are Our hospitals better now?
8. Is education better now?
9. Are our roads and national infrastructure better now?
10. Do you feel Nigeria has improved overall?

My answers to these are;
1. No
2. No
3. No
4. No
5. No
6. No, govt is still wasteful
7. No
8. No
9. No
10. No, Nigeria has declined since 2014

Vote according to issues, not tribalism. Nigeria will never divide. If we dont come together to develope, our children would still be hustling to go to Europe through Libya tomorrow; Lagos will still be over-crowded
Give mediocre presidents only one term. We did it in 2015. We can do it again in 2019. Lets not reward Buhari with 2 terms. Let Obj be the only president with 2 terms until we get another good, deserving president irrespective of tribe.

PoliticsAtiku Defection A Wake Up Love Relationship For Buhari And Tinubu by lightblazingnow(op):
The defection of the former president Atiku Abubakar have suddenly triggered a new loved up and close marked relationship which has seen the president not allowing Tinubu out of his sight for just a moment. The duo were seen traveling together, for a presidential meeting which before the defection of Atiku, the president would have jet out alone or with some of his aides.

But, as it seems, there is a new fire in the bones of mr president, because of his second term ambitions and he knows very much that Tinubu is Lagos Nigeria and Lagos Nigeria is Tinubu, he can not afford to lose Tinubu. I believe that everyone should be very sincerely, these Pals were this closed prior to the Election of 2015, after the election, I believe that the relationship became at a distance, maybe because of " I came to chop opportunists" who didn't know what it took to win the election then, today, there seems to be a new found love between them.

All Because the president felt he didn't really performed very well on his first round, because of ravaging sicknesses which almost terminated his existence, and so he needs to go for the second term and maybe cement his achievements in the history of Nigeria history, and he remembers that, Tinubu and some top gun's would be needed if he is to mount such office again.

Good thinking, he should also remember that what goes around comes around. Tinubu shouldn't be used and dump again, but this time around. He should be well compensated. If I help you to become, I think it's fitting I also benefit from your victory, there is nothing bad about that.

The good people of Nigeria equally prays that, whatever happens, peace and unity should prevail at all times, because peace is priceless and war is madness. For you cabal, understand that, it takes a lot of politicking to win an election. Election are not won in the presidency, but on the streets and every corner of the country, if you seek to control the president, first learn to control the people to a winning voters to install a president you would wish to control.

Long live Nigerians, and Nigeria

…Explains his support for Adesina, AfDB President
By Johnbosco Agbakwuru

ABUJA – IN what appears to be his subtle way of announcing his willingness to seek re-election in 2019 presidential election, President Muhammadu Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday night explained the reason behind having the governors of Akwa Ibom State, Udom Emmanuel and that of Bauchi State, Mohammed Abubakar to be present when he (Buhari) addressed the Nigerian community in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire.

President Muhammadu Buhari and Bola Tinubu, national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC)
President Buhari specifically said the presence of the two governors during his interactive session with the Nigerian community in the country will be another vote for him when the time comes.

The President is in Abidjan, for the 5th European Union-African Union (EU-AU) Summit and was accompanied by the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu who was instrumental in Buhari’s emergence in 2015 after three unsuccessful attempts to become civilian president.

While apologizing for keeping some members of Nigerian community in Abidjan who had come for the interactive session waiting, President Buhari explained that he insisted on having governors Emmanuel and Abubakar present so that Nigerians in Côte d’Ivoire from the two states will be happy that he was accompanied by their governors and that might end him votes in future.

He said, “First I want to apologize for keeping you for too long seating, this is because I insisted on the governors attending this meeting. This is why I came along with them so that when we are going to meet you, when you are going to meet the rest of Nigerians if you tell them that their governors were in the accompany of the president, I think that will be another vote for me in future. I’m very pleased that they were able to turn up.”

This subtle way of announcing his intentions to contest in the 2019 election attracted laughter and accolades for him.

The President also said that his support for the President of the African Development Bank (AfDB), Akinwumi Adesina, despite serving as minister in a PDP-led government was to further confirm his remarks at his inauguration on May 29th, 2015, that he belonged to everybody and nobody in particular.

The President was reacting to Adesina’s gratitude to his administration for supporting him to get the job, leading to him becoming the first Nigerian to head the continental bank since it was set up in 1964.

He said, “the President of the African Development Bank (AfDB), who forgot to mention that he was serving in the PDP government as minister but all the same I picked him and recommended him for AfDB. I think it emphasized what I said during my swearing in that I’m for everybody, I’m for nobody. As long as you are a Nigerian be prepared to be on the receiving end from me.”

President Buhari also thanked the national leader, of the All Progressive Congress Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for bringing him a beautiful piece of information which he was not aware of until now.

Buhari however did not disclose what piece of information it was but promised to discuss it in detail with Tinubu.

According to him, “I also thank our leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. He has brought me a very beautiful piece of information which I was not aware of it until I sat down and read it this evening (Tuesday night). Thank you very much for your hardwork and I will discuss that paper with you.”

Adesina in his remarks noted that the economy picked up soon after the President’s health, adding that “so it seems there is a correlation between the President’s health and the improved economy.“

On security, Adesina said the bank has released $250 million for the construction and rehabilitation of the Northeast, destroyed by the Boko Haram insurgents.

He also said that the AfDB has constructed a big building behind the Yar’Adua centre that started in 2016 and completed.

He said it is the first of such building by AfDB outside its Abidjan headquarters which he will want President Buhari to commissioned.

Adesina said, “I want to thank you immensely. I want to thank God for your health because I must say that for all of us that has been a big concern. But seeing you fit as a fiddle and seeing you back in action, we thank God for that and may God continue to give you great strength.

“Mr. President as you must have noticed, there is a very strong correlation between your health and the economy and when you came back the economy picked up after that. So we wish you great health so that the the economy can continue to pick.

“I also want to congratulate you for the economic growth and recovery plan that you have put in place and the incredible plan that you have put in place to bring the economy out of recession and also in terms of the fact that Nigeria has moved up in the World Bank ease of doing business index.

“Is to your leadership, vision and commitment that we want to from the African Development Bank commend you Mr. President and to assure you of our strong support behind you and your government for the efforts to try and move Nigeria forward. We are solidly behind you, you can count on that.

“I also want to thank you for your leadership on the Boko Haram issue because to draw investments into Nigeria, you absolutely have to have security. I think that securing our borders is very very important thanks to your leadership for that. I also thank you for all the efforts you have made in the Lake Chad Basin Area.

“I was with you in Paris where you led the efforts in reviving the Lake Chad Basin. As you know Mr. President, the bank is very strongly behind that. We put in $250 million to support the northeast of Nigeria rebuilding. I know you were criticize for rebuilding but I don’t see anything wrong, if things get destroyed they have to be rebuilt and the African Development Bank has contributed $250 million towards that.”

Governor Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom State is of the Peoples Democratic Party, one of the states it was alleged that the ruling APC was interested in winning because of its large deposits of oil.

Return your loot or face the arm of the law-Zimbabwe's president gives looters 3 months ultimatum
misspetitenaijablog.com

Zimbabwe’s new president, Emmerson Mnangagwa, on Tuesday announced a three-month amnesty window for the return of public funds illegally stashed abroad by individuals and companies..

Upon the expiry of the amnesty at end of February next year, the government will arrest and prosecute those who have failed to comply, Mnangagwa said in a statement.
Mnangagwa was sworn-in as president on Friday and promised to tackle corruption, which had become endemic under former president Robert Mugabe’s 37-year rule.

“Those affected are thus encouraged to take advantage of the three-month moratorium to return the illegally externalized funds and assets in order to avoid the pain and ignominy of being visited by the long arm of the law,” Mnangagwa said.

Zimbabwe’s new president is under pressure to deliver, especially on the economy, which is in the grip of severe foreign currency shortages that have seen banks failing to give cash to customers.

Heartbreaking! Army Captain Writes Touching Letter To Buhari Over Treatment Of Wounded Soldiers
.ng

A Nigerian Army Captain who is depressed over the sad treatment of soldiers fighting Boko Haram terrorists in the north east has cried out to President Muhammadu Buhari to come to their aid.

According to reports, the the army captain revealed that he has been injured since 2014 but funds have not been released for his surgery.

He wrote
: I am crying out to the president, the Senate & COAS to see reasons for hastily treatment of troops who put their lives to defend this great country.

It would surprise every Nigerians and the President that soldiers who were wounded in the fight against the ongoing insurgency are still lying helpless in the various military hospitals.

As I speak to you, I was wounded in the fight 2014 and up till now, I am still laying in the hospital without my surgery, reason been that, the Nigerian army claim there is no money for our treatment for now.

Each time I set my eyes on other soldiers crying under pains, using regretting words for their effort not considered, I wept. How can the Nigerian army authority be this wicked?

Most of us with surgical issues came in here for over years, as usual in the military, a medical board was done with an outcome of a total estimate of our surgery some as low as two hundred thousand and above but we would be left without the surgery for years and we ask the medical director, we were shocked to be told that, the army headquarters have not approved it and something have not released money for our treatment.

I know on seeing this, the Nigerian Army would deny it but I am asking the president, members of senate and well meaning Nigerians to visit the following military hospitals to see this for themselves. 7Div medical hospital Maiduguri, Teaching hospital Maiduguri, 68NARH Yaba, Lagos state, 44NARHK Kaduna state and 2Div medical hospital.

This has brought so much fear to most of our colleagues in the theatre of war, because each time we tell them situation we are going through, they responded with panic and advise to trade with caution.

I am using the medium to invite people concern to please treat us as heroes and not criminals. Gos bless the president, the senate, COAS, and Nigerians.
