Christianity EtcRe: What does the Bible says about Christian suffering, should a Christian suffer??? by lightblazingnow(op): 7:37pm On Oct 01, 2017
gemale:
Dude i think you need God more than ever. It is obvious that you are at your wit's end trying to explain or manoeuvre your way through life. Only a great ingrate would say that God hasn't been more than good. Have God ever charged you a dime for being alive? Has He ever told you to pay for the oxygen you breathe for free? Do you get a bill for sunlight (the SOURCE of all energy)? There are so many things that God has given us that we don't even know or appreciate. If you are truly honest with yourself, you would see that suffering most times is inflicted by fellow humans. God gifted all men freewill. He doesn't force us to serve or love Him. With choices come consequences hence when people make poor choices, the repercussions are felt sometimes by society because humans are social in nature. The starvation you mentioned, is it God that does that or man? Isn't it greed by a few who amass & stockpile plenty while their fellow men wallow in lack? There's more than enough to go round. God provided the soil, rain, plants & animals for free to all men. If not for selfishness & sometimes laziness, no one is supposed to go hungry. On why God doesn't strike sinners dead instantly, the answer is simple; mercy. He is very merciful & doesn't desire the death of a sinner but rather that he repents. The mercy of God is available as long as we are alive. If God were to act as you wanted Him to, you would have been smote dead because in your post, you blasphemed & mocked God. Come to think about it, who hasn't sinned? Can you say truthfully say you have never sinned before? All those lies, thefts, gossip, insults, oppression, immorality etc that you, i & everyone have at 1 time of our lives (or presently) been guilty of; would you want God to strike you dead for them? I think not. So why wish another what you know you wouldn't want for yourself? It is very easy to point fingers at others while ignoring our shortcomings. The excuse that what you do is minor or small is very weak. That time your lie made your parents punish your innocent sibling or hired help is not something that's small. It's just the situation that is. If it was probably a case where the penalty was more severe, you would have done the same. Sin is sin in the eye of God. There's no big or small 1 & if not for His mercy, the entire mankind would be wiped out. As for hellfire, do you know it wasn't created for humans? It's for the devil & demons who rebelled against God. God's will is that humans spend eternity with Him in heaven but it's our choice. If we choose to serve & follow Him on earth, we are fully united with Him in His kingdom. If we choose not to follow Him & don't want to have anything to do with Him, we end up in a place where His presence is withdrawn. That is very fair. He basically gives us what we ask for. The fact you defend the devil is very sad. Would you stick your arm through a cage in the zoo to stroke a hungry lion on the head? You are sympathetic towards the enemy of your soul, who hates you with perfect hatred; the only personality you are allowed to hate. A being who envies you because you stand a chance to enjoy what he used to enjoy before he lost it due to pride & rebellion. A loser who was cast down from heaven with his allies after a resounding loss in heaven who is trying his best to deceive many to end up like him. The author & origin of all evil & sin that plague us. Who deceived Adam & stole his birthright & used him as a vehicle through which sin, death & suffering came into this world.
You could go on and on Brother, you are so anointed and your words Seasoned. Love you brother and I am praying for you and your walk with Christ Jesus and with God Almighty. Grace and peace be multiplied to you for ever. Amen

You're a drowning man, looking for where to perch - Nnamdi Kanu's lawyer slams Orji Uzor-Kalu
naij.com

- Nnamdi Kanu's lawyer has reacted to the statement credited to the former governor of Abia state, Orji Uzor-Kalu

- Ifeanyi Ejiofor said the former governor is a drowning man

- He also advised the former governor to apply to join as a party between the IPOB leader and the chief of army staff in court

A lawyer to the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) Nnamdi Kanu has reacted to the statement credited to a former governor of Abia state Orji Uzor-Kalu on the whereabouts of his client.

Ifeanyi Ejiofor in a statement sent to NAIJ.com described the former governor as "a drowning man looking for where to perch.

He also said Uzor-Kalu is desperately searching for temporary freedom.

Accusing the former governor of effort that he could end Kanu's agitation, Ejiofor asked the former governor to make it clearly know if he was in the company of the soldiers during the invasion of his client's residence.

Ejiofro said: "Orji Uzor-Kalu is a drowning man, looking for where to perch.

He has since outlived his usefulness in Igbo Land. What do you expect from a Man who is enjoying a temporary freedom?.

Struggling to get his head out of grievous corruption charge hanging on his neck. It's not unlikely that he may spend the rest of his life in prison, sooner than expected.

He saw Nnamdi Kanu's travail as opportunity to seek relevance from the prosecuting authority.

At sometime, he attempted deceiving the state into believing that he has the magic wand to Nnamdi Kanu's peaceful agitation.

Now, he has turned into government/military spokesperson. Please ask that confuse Man, if he was in the company of the rampaging soldiers at the time of their murderous invasion of my client's home?

He is seeking for possible relevance where none exist, opportunity to divert attention. May be he has forgotten he is no longer the governor of Abia state. I advise the discerning mind to kindly disregard his tantrums as that coming from a drowning man.

The military should produce my client wherever they kept him. The matter is now in court, let's meet in court. Orji Uzor-Kalu, can as well be apply to be joined as a party in the suit. Let his position be on oath," Kanu's lawyer concluded.

The former governor in a recent interview with Punch debunked claims that the IPOB leader is missing.

Uzor-Kalu said the IPOB leader was not taken away or killed by the Nigerian military during the raid in his father's residence in Afara Ibeku, Umuahia in Abia state.

He said one of Kanu's relative had earlier told him that the IPOB leader left Nigeria to London through Malaysia following the tension between the group members and the military.

He also said although the Biafra agitation is a never ending cause, the people of the southeast region mainly of Igbo extraction should strive towards producing a president of Nigeria instead of the agitation for a sovereign state of Biafra.

Uzor-Kalu during the visit discussed the need and various things that should be done to facilitate the release of IPOB leader.

The former governor also visited the parents of the IPOB leader in home in Afara Ukwu, Umuahia His Excellency Eze Israel Kanu and his wife Ugoeze Sally Kanu.

Nigeria@57: Buhari in Maiduguri to celebrate with troops
today.ng

President Muhammadu Buhari is in Maiduguri, Borno State Capital to celebrate the 57th independence anniversary with troops.

A source at the presidency confirmed this on Sunday.

Garba Shehu, senior special assistant to the president on media and publicity, also confirmed that the president was on his way to Maiduguri.

In his independence day message earlier in the day, the president praised the military for rolling back the threat of Boko Haram.

“Nigerians must be grateful to our gallant armed forces for rolling back the frontiers of Boko Haram’s terrorism, defeating them and reducing them to cowardly attacks on soft and vulnerable targets,” he said.

The customary change of guard by the presidential brigade of guards to mark the nation’s independence did not take place on Sunday, and no explanation was given for it.‎

Christianity EtcRe: What does the Bible says about Christian suffering, should a Christian suffer??? by lightblazingnow(op):
hopefulLandlord:
The only way the Bible makes sense is if we conclude that god is a raving lunatic whose greatest thrill comes from human suffering. Its only when christians try to claim that "god is good" or "god loves us" that the story gets ridiculous.

This is supposedly a being that KNOWS EVERYTHING and has INFINITE POWER. Yet he stands by and watches every time a child is molested and does NOTHING to stop it. Does he strike the molester dead on the spot? No. Does he send a cop? No. Does he do ANYTHING to prevent it? No. Even though he could help the child with less than the blink of his almighty eye. Why? He can't say he didn't know. And he can't say he couldn't do anything about it, right? So he must ALLOW IT because HE LIKES IT!

The same with starving children and disease. Its entertainment for him. And even though he could change it all, with less effort than we could change the channel on our TV, he refuses to reach for the remote. Instead he'll just reach for a shotgun and blow a hole through the screen. YEE HAW!

This is one sick god we've got here. He loves human suffering so very much that he just couldn't get enough of it in this world. So he had to create a place of ETERNAL TORTURE so he could REALLY get off! And does he send people there who have done horrible things they need to be punished for? No, he forgives all of that. He only sends people who don't believe a story that says that the creator of all things is such a horrible monster that he actually created a place of ETERNAL TORTURE. If you think god is better than that you go to Hell.

Now reading the Bible what does it say Satan's big crime was? His ego. He thought he could do a better job than god. But looking at the world around us how wrong could he have been? Anybody could do a better job than this raving lunatic of a god. The christian god is just about what you could expect if the Joker from Batman had infinite power.

The day you are free from these little demons speaking through you, will be your greatest gift. If it isn't demons fighting through why Always fighting the greatest Love

In you is a lot of hatred only you can submit yourself to God Almighty and resist Satan from stealing, destroying and killing you.

damesilver:
Well, I seem to be interested in the way you responded to the issue at hand. If you want to be content as an indicter finding faults with everything, or a seeker for truth, it all rests with you. Instead of seeking genuinely for truth, do not out of your vanity assume an air Of importance by spreading venomous bile out of your supposed knowledge.

I think the fault actually lies with those who portray God as an arbitrary Being. The being called God is not at all complex, wierd, mysterious, or irrational as depicted in numerous vain stories.

Consider a child who does not understand the language of its parent, what would become of such child? If a human creature does not understand the language of its creator, and, out of pride and arrogance, he does not wish to learn the language which is to help him navigate his journey in life, what would become of such a wilfully stubborn creature? Suffering, pain, distress and sorrow.

Our understanding of everything is based solely on our levels of inner maturity. God is simple, lucid and can be easily understood by anyone who wishes to. He does not wish anyone to suffer. Otherwise he would not be a just loving God. But how does suffering come about? Why is the omniscient God allowing all these 'evil' things to go on.

Man has been given the power to create 'forms' on his own through the gift of his freewill. This also goes with responsibility. Where there is no freedom of decision there can be no responsibility. Through vanity man has for thousand of years put form of ignoble features into creation and must reap the consequences of his decisions. The law says you reap what you sow. This may take several earth-life to completely expiate all your karmic burden.

This, Man created heaven or hell himself.

Just as a single action may bring about heavy burden of guilt, so also a simple action or thoughts of love can bring redemption. There are laws put in place operating and maintaining this creation. We, also are products of this creation and are thus subject to these laws. Nothing arbitrary. God does not concern himself with how man fares on earth.

If out of ignorance you act in contrary to the laws of nature, you must bring about a balance to it. Then you are free of the guilt. This earth is a school. Until you learn the spiritual lessons to mature your spirit, thereby cultivating the fruit of the spirit, you will always come back to go through the bitter process of learning.

While Nigerians celebrated independence 57 years ago, what was Buhari up to?

When the British Union flag came down to be replaced by the Nigerian green white green as part of the final ceremony of the country's independence from colonisation on the night of October 1, 1960, it was greeted with great relish and pomp of a relieved nation.

While merrymakers trooped to the Tafawa Balewa Square in Lagos to witness the nation's leaders receive the country's 'Freedom Charter' from Queen Elizabeth II's representative, Princess Alexandra of Kent, celebrations of emancipation broke out in other regions of the country too.

Happy Nigerians took to the streets in all parts of the country to celebrate a painstaking victory in its long struggle for freedom.

Among those jubilant crowds, in the northern region, was a certain teenager who would eventually go on to lead Africa's most popular nation not once, but two different times.

On October 1, 1960, Nigeria's incumbent 74-year-old leader, President Muhammadu Buhari, was a 17-year-old student of Katsina Provincial Secondary School (now Government College, Katsina).

Before joining the school in 1956, the Daura-born Katsina native had been a student of Katsina Model School.

According to John Paden in his biography of the president titled "Muhammadu Buhari: The Challenge of Leadership in Nigeria", the president was a reluctant student in his early years who would often get beaten by the schoolmaster for skipping school.

According to Paden in chapter one of the book subtitled 'Schooling and Leadership Values', "In part because of love for the outdoors, Buhari was a reluctant student in his early years. He would often skip school altogether, although this always resulted in beatings with a cane by the schoolmaster.

"Only with the encouragement of Waziri al-Hasan and Mamman Daura did he eventually settle down and take his studies seriously."

The president's turnaround eventually led to him becoming his school's Head Boy at some point.

Even though he most probably couldn't have imagined it at the time, that teenager's decision a year after Nigeria's independence is largely responsible for what he has become today.

He enrolled in the Nigerian Military Training College (now Nigerian Defence Academy) in 1961 before undergoing officer cadet training at Mons Officer Cadet School in Aldershot, England, between 1962 and 1963.

He became a second lieutenant and was appointed platoon commander in 1963 before he served as commander and brigade major between 1965 and 1967.

After his participation in the counter-coup of 1966 as a lieutenant, Buhari performed several roles in the bloody Nigerian Civil War of 1967 to 1970.

In 1971, he married his first wife Safinatu Yusuf with whom he had five children before their eventual divorce in 1988.

After brief stints as Governor of the North-Eastern State and Governor of Borno state between 1975 and 1976, Buhari was appointed as the Federal Commissioner (a position now called Minister) for Petroleum and Natural Resources in 1976 by then Head of State, General Olusegun Obasanjo.

After using forces under his command to chase off Chadian aggressors who invaded Nigeria in the Borno state area in 1983, Buhari, as General Officer Commanding (GOC), Third Armored Division, led a coup that overthrew Nigeria's Second Republic of democratically elected leaders and suspended the 1979 constitution.

In what is now considered a very familiar tune, the major reason given for the military overthrow of the government was the civilian leaders' corrupt management of the country that had led to an economic and moral decline.

Major General Muhammadu Buhari
President Buhari's military reign 34 years ago didn't last for too long (The Guardian)
After a short-lived controversial two years as the supreme leader of the country, Major General Buhari was overthrown by General Ibrahim Babangida and other members of the ruling Supreme Military Council (SMC) for failing to adequately address Nigeria's economic problems.

As a 'reformed democrat' with an incorruptible contempt for corruption, Buhari lost three presidential elections in 2003, 2007 and 2011 before becoming the first opposition candidate to defeat an incumbent in 2015.

The Nigeria that got liberated with purposeful unity 57 years ago when Buhari was a teenager is not the same Nigeria that he's lording over in the twilight of his years.

In his first Independence Day address on October 1, 2015, the president notably pointed out that Nigeria's most significant problem is its inability to stay united.

He said, "We have all the attributes of a great nation. We are not there yet because the one commodity we have been unable to exploit to the fullest is unity of purpose.

"This would have enabled us to achieve not only more orderly political evolution and integration but also continuity and economic progress."

Events that have unfolded in the country since that fateful speech has lent it even more relevance as the President presides over a very fractured nation.

Buhari: I’m disappointed with some south-east leaders over IPOB
President Muhammadu Buhari says he is disappointed in some community leaders who failed to caution “hot-headed” youth calling for the dismemberment of the country.

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has been seeking a sovereign state, citing marginalisation of Igbo people as its reason.

In his Independence Day broadcast, Buhari said his government will not and cannot allow such advocacy.

Recalling his days in the army, Buhari said most of those calling for the division were not born during the tragic civil war, which led to the loss of two million lives.

“As a young army officer, I took part from the beginning to the end in our tragic civil war costing about 2m lives, resulting in fearful destruction and untold suffering. Those who are agitating for a re-run were not born by 1967 and have no idea of the horrendous consequences of the civil conflict which we went through,” he said.

“I am very disappointed that responsible leaders of these communities do not warn their hot-headed youths what the country went through. Those who were there should tell those who were not there, the consequences of such folly.

“At all events, proper dialogue and any desired constitutional changes should take place in a rational manner, at the national and state assemblies. These are the proper and legal fora for Nntional debate, not some lop-sided, un-democratic body with pre-determined set of objectives.

On the challenges facing the country, the president said the country’s savings were squandered when the price of crude oil was $100 per barrel.

Crude oil price was at its highest during the administration of Goodluck Jonathan.

When the country entered a recession in August 2016, the Buhari administration blamed the Jonathan administration for it, saying the past government emptied the treasury despite huge oil revenues.

He said because of that the country was left with social and physical infrastructure deficit.

“However, in spite of oil prices being an average of $100 per barrel and about 2.1m barrels a day, that great piece of luck was squandered and the country’s social and physical infrastructure neglected. We were left with no savings and huge infrastructure deficit,” he said.

“The APC government’s campaign rallying cry to restore security, re-balance the economy and fight corruption was not all rhetoric.

“The country must first be secured. The economy must be re-balanced so that we do not depend on oil alone. We must fight corruption which is Nigeria’s number One enemy. Our administration is tackling these tasks in earnest.”

The president also said the country had made appreciable gains in political freedom.

He added that Nigerians had been free to hold and disseminate opinions, but that the “freedom” is now subject to abuse.

“In the past two years, Nigeria has recorded appreciable gains in political freedom. A political party at the centre losing elections of state governor, national assembly seat and even state assemblies to the opposition parties is new to Nigeria. Added to these are complete freedom to associate, to hold and disseminate opinions. Such developments clearly attest to the country’s growing political development. But like all freedoms, this is open to abuse,” he said.

20 Reasons Why I Support Ayo Fayose For President – Fani-Kayode
thetrentonline.com

“I stood with Governor Ayodele Fayose because, unlike most, he has immense courage,” Femi Fani-Kayode, a former aviation minister explains in a statement to The Trent on Saturday, September 30, 2017.

The statement comes amidst criticism over his support for the fiery governor of Ekiti who declared his intention to run for president in 2019 this week.

“We come from completely different backgrounds and we do not agree on everything but we have a similar disposition and we share the same perspective on most things,” the prominent thought leader wrote.

Chief Fani-Kayode went on to extol Governor Fayose saying, “He is not bound up in fear and he is not chained down by political correctness. He speaks the raw and bitter truth and he stands up for the weak and the defenceless.”

Then, he went spiritual, saying, “Like me he moves in the prophetic and his source of strength is the Spirit and power of God.

“We both love God and we are both men of strength, courage, faith and destiny.

“The Spirit of David and Jehu runs through us both. We neither fear death nor incarceration and we hate injustice, evil and oppression.”

The two-time minister who served under former President Olusegun Obasanjo also praised the governor for his record in Ekiti State.

“The truth is that he has done an excellent job in his Ekiti State and he has consistently and fearlessly stood against the evil of the Buhari administration and constantly kept them on their toes,” he wrote.

“He is a Yoruba man who has the courage and conviction to say that he wants to be president. Why would I not stand with him and attend the launching of his campaign?

“I believe that he would make an excellent president and effect the necessary changes and restructuring that our country desperately needs.

“I am very proud of Ayo Fayose and I never desert or abandon my friends. He is and will always be my friend and brother,” he ended his statement.
