One party state?
PoliticsAPC Seeks Cooperation With Communist Party Of China by Lighthouseman(op): 6:19am On Jan 07, 2016
The All Progressives Congress, APC, on
Wednesday signalled its intention to enter into
partnership and cooperation with the
Communist Party of China, CPC, the founding
and ruling political party of the People’s
Republic of China.
This was a fallout of a meeting held between
the APC’s national secretary, Mai Mala Buni,
and a Chinese government delegation led by
the chargé d’affaires of the Chinese Embassy
in Nigeria, Qin Jian. The meeting was held at
the APC National Secretariat in Abuja.
At the meeting, the Chinese chargé d’affaires,
Mr. Jian, disclosed to the APC leadership that
the Chinese President, Xi Jinping, has invited
President Muhammadu Buhari to China on a
state visit on a yet-to-be-announced date.
Mr. Buni who was represented at the meeting
by APC’s Director of Organisation, Kyari
Abubakar, said: “China is a very important
technical and trading partner to Nigeria. Both
countries have enjoyed excellent social,
economic and cultural relations. As China is
aware, Nigeria recently witnessed a change of
government which ushered in the
administration of President Muhammadu
Buhari. The time for better cooperation
between both countries is now as the APC and
the President Buhari administration works to
deliver on its Change mandate.”
He said healthy relations between Nigeria and
China would ultimately be of benefit to Africa.
At party level, the APC National Secretary
identified capacity building and collaboration
as areas Nigeria’s APC and the Chinese CPC
can partner.
Meanwhile, Qin Jian reported that following
the successful December 2015 Forum on
China-Africa Co-operation (FOCAC) summit
which brought together Chinese senior
government officials and most African heads
of government to Johannesburg, South Africa,
the Chinese President Xi Jinping has
announced a $60 billion aid package for
Africa.
The aid package would finance a broad range
of assistance programmes to help Africa
industrialise, modernise its agricultural
production, boost the skills of its workers,
build infrastructure and improve its health
care.
Qin Jian said 2016 marks the 45th
anniversary of diplomatic relations between
Nigeria and China.
“We (China) have enjoyed positive and
beneficial partnership with Nigeria in
healthcare, economy, infrastructure
development, social/cultural exchange and
other areas… Nigeria has the biggest economy
in Africa and is a very important partner with
China.
“The Chinese CPC and Nigeria’s ruling APC
will pursue better cooperation which will be of
benefit to both nations. Both parties can share
experiences on how to develop the economy
and protect the environment as well as
technical support and capacity building where
necessary,” Qin Jian said.

Answer is NO!

It would be recalled that the federal executive council meeting was put off ostensibly to put finishing touches to the budget of change and the still came up with this crap only to want to withdraw it from the back door.
This government causing embarrassment to Nigeria whether they are home or travel abroad. Day by day we continue to witness how clueless and how kindergarten governance has become under the @apc government.
PoliticsRe: We Have Used All Channels To Warn Buhari Over Shi’ite Leader – Iran by Lighthouseman: 8:18pm On Jan 04, 2016
As it currently stand, Buhari should diffuse tension with Iran because Nigeria as currently constituted is just a big statue that cannot move. Imagine engaging Boko Haram in six years of warfare yet no success, biafra brewing and now Iran.
Don't expect Iran to send troops to Nigeria to prosecute a shia_ sunni war, but a clandestine war were terror will be unleashed on Nigeria trade by hitting Nigerians ship on international waters, hitting the commercial capital of Lagos, assassination if top government officials.
In short, Nigeria will not know what hit them when it starts.
Iran is an expert in espionage and sponsoring Militants like hexbolla.
Remember Iran is the Persian Gulf. Remember the prince of Persia and what he did to Angel Gabriel then imagine what they can to to Nigeria.
PA bubu should turn this fight to play....

Can Nigeria pump like 40 million barrels per day to exceed the 10 million barrels Saudi Arabia pumps per day ??
Why don't Nigeria attract more buyers than the Saudi Arabia ??
Does the Nigerian oil have limitations or may dry up if pumped excessively ??
Nigeria can't pump 3 million barrels.
Secondly, it's no longer a sellers market but a buyers market.
In the last decade, with new technology, oil has been discovered both onshore and offshore in areas that hitherto were impossible like in USA, Kenya, Somalia, Ghana etc and most of them are not opec members hence u can't control what they supply. Hence the over supply.

Atmmachine:
Why is Saudi Arabia not experiencing the demand and supply ??
Saudi Arabia pumps over 10 million barrels per day with a population of less than 30 million people and a huge foreign reserve. With these, Saudi Arabia can sell and break even for even 5$ until conditions improve while Nigeria has a population of 170million, a foreign reserve of 29 billion and sells only over 2 million barrels per day. You see the difference abi.
It's time to make the centre weak and the component units more autonomous.
Or else... Bubu just started begging for foreign aid

This fall in commodity prices will lead to economic and social disorder in countries such as Nigeria that are solely dependant on oil.
You will see lots of strike action by labour, trade unions, students etc.
We might be experiencing a hyper inflation. This is made worse by our inability to refine our petroleum products leading to depletions of the already scare forex.
Agric which every one is clamoring for is not that easy because it is capital intensive, time bound and dependant on biological factors and finally market at a time commodity prices are low.
Nigeria may have to consider the north Korea option to survive or the Iranian model of survival under sanctions.
I must add that this is a self inflicted sanction on Nigerians by the ruling class over the decades.
PoliticsNigeria’s gas revenue drops by 50% by Lighthouseman(op): 8:07am On Dec 25, 2015
Gas proceeds from the Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas and others have dropped by 50.2 per cent from $169.728m in January, the latest data from the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation have showed.

The NNPC put gas proceeds from the NLNG, Escravos Gas to Liquid, Natural Gas Liquids and NGAS in October at $84.575m.

“Export gas sales and NLNG feedstock accounted for $84.57m i.e. 18.97 per cent contribution to the Federation Account compared with 31.21 per cent contribution in September,” the corporation said in its latest monthly report.

The dip in gas revenue was partly as a result of the sustained fall in global natural gas prices since last year and increased supply in the market.

From a peak of $6 per million British thermal unit last year, the natural gas price has fallen below $2 per mmBtu this year. It was trading around $1.98 per mmBtu.

The NLNG Limited had recently warned that its revenue was being threatened at the international market amid the fall in global oil prices.

Many of the global natural gas markets are linked to oil prices, which have fallen by more than 65 per cent since June last year.

The firm expressed worry over the impact that the fall in crude prices was having on its revenue, stressing that the entry of the United States and Australia into the LNG market was “a real cause for concern.”

The NLNG stated, “The recent fall in crude oil prices from above $100 per barrel in early 2014 to below $60 per barrel in early 2015 and its impact on global LNG/gas prices as well as the demand/supply positions in both our primary and secondary markets in the Atlantic and Pacific Basins have had a significant impact on our revenues and profitability.

“The trend, which will persist till the end of 2015, and which may even worsen going into 2016 with the entry of US and Australian LNG volumes into the market, is a real cause for worry.”

The NLNG, in addition to its traditional deliveries to Europe and the United States, supplies LNG to South America, with deliveries to Mexico and Brazil; and to Asia and the Middle East, with deliveries to Japan, South Korea, India, China, Taiwan, Thailand and Kuwait.

The company, which currently has LNG production capacity of 22 million metric tonnes per annum, is owned by the Federal Government, represented by the NNPC (49 per cent), Shell Gas BV (25.6 per cent), Total LNG Nigeria Limited (15 per cent), and Eni International (10.4 per cent).
