WILLuKPquiet: But Paul's wife is not Igbo too. Only Jude has an Igbo wife. So tribalism is really not a major factor in this case. Major factor is that Lola and Jude hate each other so much. Peter has to be loyal to his wife and wants Jude out of the picture. Paul wants to be loyal to Jude since he wouldn't want Lola have her way of getting Jude out of the picture. DonroxyII: Everything is not tribalism, even Paul's wife is not Igbo. Only Jude has an Igbo wife among the three. The thing is, the problem is between Lola and Jude. Lola and Jude are 'sworn' enemies, hence Lola via Peter wants Jude out of the picture. Of course it makes sense, since Peter can't be in good terms with Jude and be marrying Lola, since Lola and Jude can't reconcile (ego and domineering issues, Lola is older than Jude but Jude wants 'respect' .) Hence Peter wants Jude out, Paul insists to stay with Jude, because even though Paul and Peter are twin, Paul has been closer to Jude than Peter. Of course this makes sense why Lola wants Peter and Paul back, but Paul wants all of them including Jude to be together, Paul is the kind of middle man and holds the power of reconciliation. But it looks like Peter and Paul are the ones fighting because Peter has to be loyal to his wife and Paul wants to remain loyal to Jude. Paul just as Peter is also very stubborn and will rather choose to remain separated with Peter without Jude. He wouldn't want to succumb to the wish of Lola. This is why he is seeing her as manipulative. This is the reason why the bicycle of this wahala cannot rust. . This wahala don come to stay, nobody fit settle am unless Lola and Jude are out of the picture, which is not happening anytime soon. So this particular wahala na everlasting. Even, they know among themselves and that is why they are making no effort. 2 Likes |

Emekaonline: Which chips will be down? The 'chips' have been down in Nigeria since God knows when. What we have is not life, what majority of us have is suffer. The masses in Nigeria are all already dead because we are not living. We are just but surviving. Who among the regular masses do not have a family that died carelessly, like who? Either by accident do to bad roads, Boko haram, armed robbers, police brutality and bandits. Many people in developed countries will rather choose to die than have the life we are surviving on. This is the only reason why they are developed and remain developed, because they keep themselves in check. -------- It's not about tribe. Sometimes I don't get it. Many of us want one Nigeria but then we will be quick to play the tribe card. Anyone playing the tribe card at this time, is really an enemy of the country. There was no shooting in Anambra or Abia but still the youths were angry and set up 4 police stations ablaze. Like don't you get it. The two of us are struggling to make end meets. Bad roads, hunger, insecurity, lack of electricity and most importantly suffer do not know about tribe. Don't you guys understand that life is meaningless if you have to suffer and 'agonize' all through. Like you don't want better things for yourself and your family? Na only politicians and their kids better things are meant for? Menhh I no get oo. This thing shouldn't be difficult to understand. Don't you know what a good life is? Like you don't get it? These politicians don't play tribe among themselves. They are friends with each other, their kids are friends too. They know tribe is irrelevant but then they want to remain in power, so we the poor ones are meant to hate ourselves and remain divided so they can do whatever they want. They divide and then rule us as they want. But then we think we are smart while we are being played. |

This protest has been on for days now, no property was destroyed aside those from the clearly hired thugs. The shooting came with the destruction. Since the political class don't care, so they don't know how angry and hungry people are. Everyone knows the highest mistake was that shooting and then to lie and deny it again, will open wounds. As I said before, you cannot beat a child and still dictate for him how to cry. If you don't want him to cry too much or carelessly then don't beat him too much or carelessly too. Action and reaction are equal and opposite. You can't plant a corn and harvest rice. |

It's turn by turn. People are angry. It's Tinubu's turn at this time. There was a time it was Saraki's, there was a time it was Oshomole's. These guys have used us enough. They don't deserve our pity even if they share same religious ideology with us. Simply put, even Tinubu doesn't care about you. Tinubu is aware and involved in the shooting, it is almost impossible not to believe so. Buhari can order the shooting, yes we believe but we are sure Buhari is so daft to know that there are CCTV and street lights at the toll gate. So other people in charge of Lagos (Sanwolu and in proxy Tinubu) are aware and part of the execution. Tinubu is aware and he even left the country last night. So he brought it upon himself. Lagosians were too loyal to him to deserve that. He should have fought for them, which of course will bring enmity between him and the Northern cabals, but then he chose their sides. sulaimania2003: 3 Likes 1 Share |

Because of greed and desperation of 2023, hence he wants to be in the good book of the Cabals and he was used against his own people who have been ever loyal to him. No Northern leader will ever allow to switch of CCTV and lights so that the military can quietly and successfully shoot their people protesting, especially when he is fully aware such actions can be traced back to him. They understand that they should also be in the good books of the streets, as the streets make politicians in our clan. Culture / Re: Female Inheritance: Supreme Court, Igbo Culture In Head-on Collision by like1: 11:28am On Sep 08, 2020 |
I think I have to explain this in detail for the non-Igbo. So this is a bit complicated and I am sure it's same in some Yoruba cultures. The Igbo has ancestral homes, like the ancestral land each male child inherits. This is the reason you see mansions in village bushes in Igboland inhabited by no one except during festive seasons. Most of these mansions are on ancestral lands that were inherited. So in Igbo tradition, a married female child is not supposed to inherit any of the ancestral property. If there is a lady that is not married, she has the full right of accommodation to the property till she dies. Unmarried female children in most cases do not have children. If the female child has a child(ren) out of marriage, automatically that child(ren) belongs to her father and thus the child if male should inherit and participate in the sharing of the ancestral land, if the child is a female then the cycle continues. This is the reason why if a man dies without a male child and one of her daughter gives birth to a male child out of wedlock, then the male child has to inherit the ancestral home. In Igbo land, if a girl's bride price is not paid and she gives birth, the child automatically belongs to the father of the girl. Even wives do not inherit ancestral lands, such that if the husband dies, the wife has full right of accommodation to the ancestral land/house till she dies if she doesn't remarry, only his male children or male children of her unmarried daughters can inherit them. This is because a wife whose husband is dead, has the right to remarry and go live with her new husband, while the children of the dead first husband has the inheritance of the ancestral land. This is only for ancestral land. Furthermore, any property ACQUIRED or INHERITED(non-ancestral) by a man which is outside the ANCESTRAL LAND he inherited, can be inherited by both the male and female (married or unmarried) children. The man has the right to will those ACQUIRED or INHERITED(non-ancestral) properties to whoever he wishes. However, what happens and which is the problem in this topic is the regular sibling problems of sharing properties when the father dies without a will. So I guess the dead man has only two children, a son and a daughter, so the son wants to take all the properties the man ACQUIRED citing that in Igbo tradition women don't inherit properties. All the properties the man acquired in the city(outside the ancestral land) MUST be administered according to the will, if there is no will, then they MUST be shared EQUALLY or IN AGREEMENT with all the parties (mother, children) involved. Finally, in Igbo tradition the male child has full inheritance only on the ancestral land (vilaage land and house, that one in the bush) and also he doesn't have the right to deny her sister accommodation in the said village house. If the sister is unmarried and has a male son, the son is a child of the dead father and MUST partake in the inheritance of the ancestral land. 4 Likes 1 Share |

wagesofsin: I don't think this is necessary true, considering that Valerian was elevated to Archbishop from being a priest. He wan't even a Mosignor not to talk of Auxillary bishop. So if a priest is qualified and chosen there is no basis why an auxillary Bishop is not likely to be an Archbishop. 2 Likes |

It's possible to make such agreement if the tenants/landlords agree but most agreements are not that way. Most yearly agreements are on a 12 months basis even the first year, this is one of the reasons landlords of new homes prefer to start renting from first of January. Don't use that I am a lawyer here. Do you know how many people who are lawyers (SAN) in this country. It's not a good basis, be logical and state facts clearly. In the case of this young man it is clear that the agreement was on a yearly basis starting from the first year rather there is a misunderstanding of counting between both parties. Alvin007: |

I know you are collecting rent somewhere, how is 1st of January and 30th of January related. It should be 1st of January against 31st December. So 18th of April against 17th of April. How can you be this bold even clearly when you are making mistakes. Like how? Lets do basic counting not for rent purposes 01/01/2019 to 31/12/2019 is 365(4) days 18/04/2019 to 17/04/2020 is 365(4) days 01/01/2019 to 31/11/2019 is 355(4) days 18/04/2019 to 17/03/2020 is 355(4) days 1 year is 365(4) days. Then for rent purposes depending on the initial agreement: if the agreement is to count by months that make up a year then if he entered the house on 18/04/2019 and paid rent on that same day then his rent expired on 31/03/2020 and NOT 17/03/2020. If the agreement is to count by days that make up a year then the rent will expire on 17/04/2020. There is NO BASIS for his rent to have expired on 17/03/2020. LIKE NO FU*KING BASIS adefund: |

How can you be this bold even with all these corrections above? Like how? Which Calendar are you talking about. Lets assume it's not for rent purposes but basic counting. 18/04/2019 to 17/04/2020 is 365(6) days 18/04/2019 to 17/03/2020 is 355(6) days 1 year is 365(6) days. Then for rent purposes depending on the initial agreement: if the agreement is to count by months that make up a year then if he entered the house on 18/04/2019 and paid rent on that same day then his rent expired on 31/03/2020 and NOT 17/03/2020. Didn't you read where he stated that the LandLord said his rent expired on 17/03 and not 31/03. It's obvious the landlord is miscalculating, perhaps he needs money. If the Landlord had said that the rent expired on 31/03 then your calculation will be right. If he pays the new rent and agree that it expired on 17/03/2020 what it means that next year, the rent expires by 17/02/2021 and the cycle continues. So it is better he maintains his ground and correct it now. FIDELITY24: |

Like in Nigeria, we are done competing with neighbours, friends and extended families. now husband and wife are competing. We are really mad. Our woes didn't start yet. Aunty if you want to move on, move on, why do you think you are teaching him a lesson. Lol. If the husband you described above is what it is, I doubt the least of his worries will be if you leave. A better reason to leave is because of your sanity and you don't want to live in competition of who is richer with your husband and not because you want to teach him a lesson. Are you Jesus Christ, that you think his life will be over without you. Teach yourself the lesson first. Both of you have ego problems, with the way you described him and how you see him. You told us all the abusive words he told you but you didn't say the ones you have said to him. The both of you are mad and deserve each other. Teach yourselves lesson. Ndi lesson teacher. Ndi ara. It's possible but unlikely depending on how determined you are and if luck is on your side. Four a four year course, you need these along the years: (3.0+5.0+5.0+5.0)/4.=4.5 Four a five year course, you need these along the years: (2.8+5.0+5.0+5.0+5.0)/5.=4.56 When I was in Uni for my undergraduate, mine was like this: (3.9+4.32+5.0+5.0)/4.=4.56 |

Wetlink: Perhaps, you are not Igbo, to understand what the traditions are in Igbo villages. Anyway, things have changed and are changing so fast. Values are changing quickly. In Igbo traditions, everyone has equal rights (you can say entitled) in your ancestral land (Obi) since they are inherited, even though the custodian is the first son, such that if your father doesn't have a house in the village, anyone that first builds on the ancestral land builds for the family. It is also the reason why a brother who doesn't have a house of his own will contribute heavily to the completion of the first house in the family. My dad did too, he later regretted but not now any more, perhaps the blessings followed him and us. Anyway that is the good old custom. Selfishness, greed and arrogance have taken over. Siblings now fight each other and even get a bit more selfish not to care for their old parents. The next will be for people not to see any need of sacrificing in order to have kids as it is in Europe these days. This tradition is also the only reason why many Igbo people succeeded from nothing with the 'apprenticeship culture' but now this culture is almost down. You can't fight your siblings, lord over them and expect your kids not to do the same to each other when they are of age. Anyway, we all reap what we sow, it's not rocket science. 1 Like 1 Share |
