Yes you can apply for your visa when you get your admission. In fact, the earlier the better.

Pls Does Cic verify former employers if its a bank? Worked there 2015-2016. Will they contact them?
I don't think so. Even if they want to it shouldn't be the former job.

Morning guys.

Pls if i go 4 upfront medicals is it all concluded same day? Do i get d slip required 4 my application same day i go.

Also police report isbit a same day thn and do i hvv2 go personally. Wonderin if its smthb my hubby can do 4 me.

Finally can someone pls explain d differenc btwn sop and loe, am a bit confused.

Hv a draft sop. Can a guru pls help me review b4 i submit.

I appreciate your prompt responses pls.

Many thanks.
Your medicals shouldn't take more than 3/4 hours to finish. They will give you a slip to attach to your application immediately you are done. The result will be sent to CIC by the hospital.
Your hubby cannot do your police report for you because it requires them taking your pictures and finger print. So you have to that all by yourself.
I really think SOP and LOE are the same thing i.e convey the same message in different format. SOP is story like and quite less formal without an address just a title while LOE is in a letter format. Either ways, i think it is the content of the letter/ write up that matters not the way you decide to write it.

I submitted via paper route nt online but in most cases it doesnt exceed 1week while in some cases, it does exceed a wk. If the tracking result is true, it means mine isn't up to a week I.e 8th-14th. You can try to track ur passport to know the status.

They will send you an email. Mine took 12 days. So just wait till they tell you it is in Nigeria.

Any thing that isn't liquid cash cannot stand as money available. It doesn't add to your financial strength.

Thank you. But I was considering not adding them to my application since our father is late and we don't keep in touch. I don't even have their numbers
Fill their names in the form and don't bother yourself too much bout their birth certificates.

Yes, your passport is submitted with the paper application.

Hey guys, I've been following you posts and replies, I'd say it really educating. I've observed a particular trend, you guys work your application, processing etc on your own. I don't know if it is bad to hire an agent because that's what I'm planning on doing. I don't know if anyone have heard about PFL educational services. Heard they are very good. I don't mind the cost sha, I can afford it. Please I need your suggestions on whether to go with them@PFL.
PFL is good but I'm sure you can do a better job all by yourself. The process isn't difficult, read, ask questions and you are good to go. But if you still wanna use PFL, that's okay.

Congratulations.. I went through the documents you submitted. I see you included NYSC Call up, POP and ID card. This insinuates you are currently serving. Is this correct.? I have been thinking very much about this as I am currently serving and want to apply for a Canadian TRV but kinda scared to declare my NYSC status. You know the " you are not allowed to travel out of the country except on approval of the DG" nonsense... Was scared CIC know about this. Please clarify your nysc status at the moment of application.. I think I will use it as home ties for a visitors visa. Also, how did you avoid getting a letter from your POP or LGI.. I'm just wowed.please respond asap please. This is very important to me. Advise is welcome and appreciated.. Thanks and Congratulations again.
I finished service May 4, applied April 12. Include your NYSC letter of posting and acceptance letter carrying possible date of discharge. If you are close with your boss at PPA, they can also add a letter just to show that you have something doing in Nigeria hence you will return. All the best.

@likeababygirl, What particular land documents please? As for the building plan, how are you able to attach that online since that its usually on a very wide paper? Or I am missing something?

Reason I'm asking is that I have some landed property in my home town that the surveys are not ready yet so I don't know what I can use to include such landed property in my application as Home Ties.

Also, I have an already completed hostel building in my same home town(nothing big) but I only have the survey and building plan. Is the survey and building plan enough to show/proof that I already have a building erected on it and not just a bare piece of land?

Please house, anyone with knowledge in this area to share some knowledge and ideas. Thanks for your help.

I applied via paper route.
Yes you can use the documents as home ties. Since the building plan shows that it isn't a bare land. I think that's fine.

Congratulations likeababygirl...I don't know u but I'm happy for you. I key into your victory and testimony. Please what did you tender as home ties? I can see from your response to someone here that d land docs u submitted were in your daddy's name. I tendered family (birth certs), aged grandmum & land docs in my mum (sponsor)'s name. Hope this will suffice? Congrats again.
Thank you. I think the documents are good enough to stand as home ties. I wish you success.

Also, I didn't write a Statement of Purpose because i felt my application was quite straightforward and writing a SOP could result to shooting myself in the leg while trying to explain things that needed no explanations.

Thanks a million. I am so grateful. I actually graduated with 2:2. Does that mean that I will have to settle for PGD?
If your CGPA is less than 3.0/4.0,yes. What was your CGPA.

that's my problem. I need someone to assist me with information here on nairaland. the threads and comments are much and digging for information can be tiring. Can you be of any assistance?
Applying to study in Canada is easier when you do everything step by step. it becomes confusing and difficult when you try to do everything at once. 2.5M is a lot of money to waste. Here is a quick breakdown
first step is looking for schools that offer your proposed program. (try to pick a course related to your undergrad program or work experience). This is me assuming you are going for a grad program. Usually, Universities offer Masters and Colleges offer PGC/PGD. If you finished with a 2.1, you should go for masters. Google should help with this.
Research about the schools, read their requirements i.e documents they need from you, check their tuition and make sure it is within your budget, check deadline for receiving application. If you meet their requirements, Apply to the school(s).
Get your admission, then you can move on to the next stage.
You can ask questions whenever you are stuck, people on here will be willing to help.
I'll advice you dedicate some of your time and read this thread. You can jot some of the info down or like the post so you won't end up looking for it again when you need the information.

@freeradical, I have a degree in biochemistry as well(2nd class lower). I'd love to further my studies in canada(not in biochemistry though), but everything is pointing at Colleges in Canada given that I finished with 2nd class lower. Do you think I have a chance to enter for something post-graduate at a University in Canada?

Please opinions are welcomes from everyone too. Thanks in advance.

@Austinpee4, @Folaroyal
If your CGPA is up to 3.2 thereabout, you still stand a chance of getting a masters admission. You just have to research schools and email admissions office for clarification.
This one that you don't want to study Biochemistry, i hope you are choosing something related to it to avoid course mismatch and purpose of visit wahala

Did you do medicals upfront or called for medicals? If you did then it could be approval. If you didn't, its isnt approval

I need answer for the 1st question. Is my reason genuine for pre master program?
Well, yes. Just make sure you explain this in your SOP and let the VO know that the pre masters program qualifies you to proceed to a masters degree.
You should explain this in simple English.
What program are you going for? What's your previous degree and what school?

Thank you for replying. So I only need to carry photocopies of my educational certificates and others apart from the ones you listed? And I want to ask if I will do my biometrics that same day and also submit my passport?
Yes. Biometrics is same day and your passport will be collected too. However they will give you a photocopy of your passport and receipts of payment which you will use to get your passport back when a decision has been made on your application.
Please go with cash as they only collect cash. I think it is 56,000 naira.

Someone in Canada on a study permits wants to travel outside of Canada for a holiday, what does he need to do to be able to come back into Canada? Does he need to apply for visa again? Or the study permit is enough document? Is the temporary resident visa multiple entry?

@austinepee4 @justwise @nelly28 all gurus in the house help please
Your study visa/TRV is multiple entry. You can leave and come into Canada as long as your visa is still valid.

Hi everyone. Please I need your help. I will be going to submit my paper application next week. Can someone please guide me with the process so on that day, I won't look confused. Please your reply would be helpful. Thank you
Just get your documents ready. Make sure they are photocopies except you SOA, CIC forms, admission letter and letter(s) written to the visa officer.
Make photocopies of your passport, take 2 passport photographs (use the specification on the cic website). The people are VAC will help with arranging your documents.

Okay tanx....guess the source of funds will be explained in the SOP right?
Yes it can be explained in the SOP but you still need to show proof of where the money is gotten from. Show things like payslip, employment letter if you work for someone and if it's from business show CAC documents, can add receipts of transactions etc.
