If thats the case, please do u think that the border officer ask for any of those supporting documents used in applying b4 issuig the study permit?
They may request for proof of available funds to pay school fees and for General living expenses. Printing another statement of Account with the money in it should work. Also, a copy of your admission letter too.

Hello Everyone. Been on this thread ghostly for about a year now. Well thank God today I got my admission letter into a Canadian university to resume on the 6 of september. Well I hope it is not too late and also I will need steps on how to apply for a visa(online preferably) and other important information.

It will be much appreciated as well if I can get someone(anyone) either there already or that has gotten a visa already for this year to talk with directly... Thank you.
It's not too late to start gathering your documents now. You should however try to submit before the end of June.
If you have really been a ghost reader of this thread, I believe you should know all the documents you'll need to apply for a Visa. Or just brush through the thread again to remind you of things you have been reading.
If you need any other specific help. We are here for you.
What program and what school did you get admission into.

Please we need to calm down and stop stressing over this VO/CBN issue. I have noticed that it's people that just applied or yet to apply that are so concerned about it.
Personally, i believe it is not a general requirement because people have gotten their visas recently without it. Let us just chill so we don't complicate things for and by ourselves.
If you want to pay your tuition, please do by all means but don't be compelled to pay it because some people received a letter asking them to pay theirs.
Don't delay submitting your application because you are looking for circular from CBN or looking for some bank to give you a letter that your funds can be exported.
Don't go and open canadian bank account and put money in it because if things go south, you won't be able to get your money back until you enter Canada o.
What i'll just advice is, have your first year fees and living expenses readily available so IF you get such letter, there won't be room for panic.
Thanks all

I was thinking same when I first read his replies days ago. Someone I know was duped years ago by an agent with this same two year Australian work visa crap. I warned him against it and told him Nigerians are not eligible for work visa. I even sent him a link of the countries eligible. He refused to listen and told me the agent "had told him" that the list I sent was an old one and there is an updated one. Oya show me the updated one naaa. Agent couldn't. Said the Australian Government hadn't published yet. So how did agent get the list? cheesy .He lost over 2 million naira.

Nigerians are so gullible. Simple research could have saved him millions of naira. Even when they see the proof, they still choose to ignore it.
Most people do not learn until they have first hand experience. They believe you are trying to stop their shine and dissuade them from traveling abroad meanwhile you are just trying to help them.
Also, some people are so lazy to learn and research on what they are being offered. They just want to be spoon fed and thus end up in the hands of con men.
God help us all.

Thanks a lot. I have another question. Do you have any cheap college at Ontario area that you can recommend. Also I visited lambtons website and it says tuition for Toronto is 6300$ per term and I can see four terms. Does it mean a term is half of a year. And I know I have asked this but their tuition (lambton) is it in USD or CAD. Please don't be vexed I'm asking this again.
Like i said before. Everything is CAD. Most Ontario colleges are in the range of $13k - $17k per year (two terms in a year except otherwise stated, cos some programs run for 3 terms).so yes 4 terms is two years. If you have $5k, i'll advice you to look away from Ontario, check out schools like NBCC NSCC and maybe some in manitoba and Saskatchewan.

First, Your application isn't considered for review until you pay your application fee. That said, you need an admission to apply for Study permit.
In the financial aspect, you basically need to show your tuition fees for a year + $10,000. Also, it depends on who is sponsoring you. If self sponsored, you have to show your total tuition fee for the program and $20,000 (since masters is two years).
I'll advice you pay your application fee asap and also fufil every requirement needed for the program. Make sure you check if you need to get a supervisor before applying.

Hello house. I need help in choosing a college / university in Canada. Thing is im looking for an institution that isn't expensive something not more than $5k per year. Second question is , does international students pay in CAD or USD both have the same symbol kinda confusing.

He's enrolling for Business / International / Administration
(Quote) (Report) (Share)
Tuition in Canada is paid with CAD. $5k is too small to study in Canada except you get full or partial funding from a school.
Also in addition to tuition, remember you need to show $10,000 for living expenses.

Here is a piece of advise for all yet to submit their application, you need to go through the pain of reading up early parts of this thread. do not be lazy and hoping to get all the info you need in a single post, read and learn.

Also, I created a table of content listing all the documents I have attached for my application and I ensured that I linked all the items in the table of content to their respective pages on the single document (Thanks to @thesoj for the idea). this makes it very easy for the VO to navigate to the specific documents he/she is interested in seamlessly.

Use google to answer most of your questions, read the past threads, do it yourself and above all have faith in God.

Congratulations. Many more good news in the house this month by God's grace

Help me please. I scored 234 in Jamb and i chose UNILAG. But my Brother said that they can't admit me because my score was too low for Medicine and Surgery. So I want to collect the change of course and change of institution. I don't know any University that can accept me either for Medicine or for any other course. Below is the list of the Subjects i did in WAEC:

English

Mathematics

Biology

Physics

Chemistry

Civic Education

Economics

Data Processing
Agricultural Science

I have attached a copy of my Jamb result.

Thanks for your help in advance.
234 is a good score but not so fantastic to study medicine. Also using Unilag's method of calculation last year your o levels weighs as much as your jamb score. With that said, your highest achievable point is 79. I think ti be on the safe side opt for other medical courses like physioteraphy etc. make sure you check last year's cut off mark to make a decision.

Thanks for your very thorough, well researched and intelligent response. You indicated not wanting to apply from Nigeria yourself. Why is that?
I did my undergraduate studies in the United States and returned to Nigeria only a year ago to see my ailing mother. I am still Nigerian with an expired student visa. While in the United States, I saw many people apply for study permit while on a U.S. visitor's visa. So it is totally possible to do. Heck, I have seen people even without status, apply for a Canadian study permit in the U.S.. Those that came to the United States with a visa and overstayed it. I think the requirement in the United States for Canadian visa applicants that overstayed their visa in the United States, is that you must prove you have not been out of status in the United States for more than one year, at the time you are applying for Canada visa.

You mentioned those in Canada on a tourist visa sending their applications to the Canadian embassy in LA? Do you mean Los Angeles by LA? If so, why Los Angeles instead of any American embassy in the U.S. I remember a Canadian embassy been present in the city I lived: Seattle.

That said, thanks for all your recommendation. I will be checking Canadianvisa.com and doing the painstaking work of reading up. If I do decide to apply from Cameroun due to time factor, you can put your money down on the fact that I would be supporting my application with the best SOP possible. Yes history and God is on our side on this lonesome road less travelled. It's not a shortcut route and I am not trying to hide anything as some have suggested here. Just that my application will be late if I apply from Nigeria. I was awarded full scholarship on the recommendation of the academic unit, just waiting now for final approval papers from the college of graduate studies to apply for my permit. I cannot apply with just a recommendation, I need the official thing. Am I right here? Can take another two weeks just to get that to me. And assembling documents to prove my ties to Nigeria and buying a land and getting a deed made out in my name is going to take time too. I am not married and have not lived in Nigeria for many years. Hence the need to establish ties to Nigeria so I am not rejected. By the time I apply, it's gonna be in late July. So time is not on my side as you can see.

Sure thing, I would have my police report.

Any further knowledge and advice is most certainly welcome and appreciated in anticipation.
