Whew! The VO sure had a lot of things to get off their mind. In your statement of purpose were you able to tie your desire to study business analytics to the job you currently do and your previous degree? It seems the VO wasn’t convinced enough. Not sure if PGC is a good step after masters degree obtained in 2012. This trajectory needs a lot of convincing the VO. Also the proof of fund aspect is pretty explanatory. Lump sum without explanation of where it is from is a red flag. In regards to home-ties, what document did you provide? I’d advice including land or property documents etc. Even go as far as showing your family is doing well/ established cos there was something mentioned regarding that. Queen6996: 1 Like |

Hi guys, Sometimes i get confused with the way people take this 'not coming back home after your program' thing serious. In as much as I believe you should establish good hometies, i think it is not a major reason people get delayed their visas. We have seen people with just parents and no company documents or land or property documents get their visas. If Canada didn't want us to stay back i.e come back home after schooling, they would have cancelled their PGWP and the opportunity of getting permanent residency and consequently Citizenship. So I'm writing this cos i saw a post that said someone with a first class and distinction profile kinda intimidated the VOs and it's like why is he going abroad when he can easily get a job here in Nigeria. This cannot be true because Canada wants brilliant minds in their system too. Heck! I know someone who has all his siblings and mother out of the country (this means no family and siblings as hometies sef), no company, just his family's land documents and still got a study permit. His case might be different but it's nothing out of the ordinary. Anyways, i think we should work better on our purpose of visit and finances. If you need to tell the VOs anything, the SOP is your tool, use it wisely. I am a believer of submitting any document you think will work for you. Because somebody didn't submit survey doesn't mean you shouldn't submit yours. Do you! For example, I didn't write any SOP, while filling my questionnaire, I didn't put anything about how the program will help me when i come back to Nigeria. Just basically wrote how the program will improve my knowledge on the course of study. Little things count in your application too. For instance, in your CV, you are a graduate of Biology and your references are businessmen and maybe an accountant. It Doesn't show professionalism. Look for someone in your field to use. Also, let's try to do some research ourselves and not wait to be spoonfed. Someone from this forum sent me a message and was like help me. I put in time to help this person gather some info only to realize this person actually wanted me to help write these things (SOP,CV etc). Things don't work like that, do your best first and others will help you. PRAYER IS THE KEY! Never forget. I pray for many more approvals in this house. For those traveling this week, we wish you a safe trip. Cheers. 17 Likes 1 Share |

yoshearer:This is wrong. Your profile cannot intimidate a Visa Officer and we have seen people with his kinda profile get their visas. There is no need to hide or go silent on any of his qualifications or certifications. 2 Likes |

Atouba:I think you should still wait for your gcms note to come out. It is a document that shows the detailed reason the Visa Officer delayed your application. The one ticked is just a general reason without much information. There is still enough time to meet up with January class. The note should be put before the end of September since you have requested for it and then you can put in your visa application in October. You can apply for you children to join you as soon as you land in Canada. Just make sure, you have everything sorted i.e finances, accommodation, daycare/school, nanny and all that stuff. (This will show that you are prepared and their presence won't affect your education). What school did you apply to? |

jnyuwa02: I agree with you. While there are still people going the PGD route and getting Visas, majority of them get denied. PGD admission is very easy to get, most people do not even have to do any form of writing to get the admission so it becomes the 'easier route' to schooling in Canada. The VOs know this, so to get approved in this 2017 o, your case must be extremely convincing. To be honest, quite a number of PGD students from Nigeria, do not have genuine intent to study in Canada. PGD students get approved everyday from other countries (as seen on Canadavisa) but we Nigerians must have done something in Canada to be getting these high denial rate. Go for masters to be on the safe side. 1 Like |

Atouba:Yes your children can join you later. Let's say you get your visa, land and settle down in Canada. You can apply for your children to join you and a visit visa for your husband. With over 10 years of being a chatered Accountant, the International accounting course seems like it is the best to use for your application. If it is possible defer both admissions. After you get the visa, i think you should be able to change to the MA Economics program since it's for two years (just notify CIC). it is better to do a two year program, you stand a better chance at permanent residency and citizenship ( if that is a goal before setting up the consulting firm in Nigeria). Before putting in another application please get your gcms note so you can know the exact reasons for denial. It takes about 30 days to be processed. |
Travel / Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 13 by likeababygirl: 2:13pm On Aug 09, 2017 |
Atouba:Your correspondence letter should carry the exact reason for the delay. Also i think applying with all your family members weakened your profile. They are supposed to serve as your major hometies, property documents are not as strong hometies as family. Also, defer your admission and request for your gcms note. I'll advise that you should not apply with all your kids and husband in your next application because it is quite difficult and impractical to take care of three children while studying full time with no 'help'. Also is your previous degree related to your proposed program of study? 5 Likes |

Alantobie:You should fill 14k in your tuition, 11k in room and board, 3k or more in others. But please let your funds available be a total of what you filled i.e 14+11+3? Which is 28?. You can increase your others to 5k. So your total can sum up to 30k. My opinion tho. 1 Like |

Teeyme:Your profile is similar to mine. You didn't include documents that highlight your sponsor's souce of income. Is he self employed? Where is the money coming from? I don't think including your statement of account is necessary. These VOs know what corpers are paid. Your parents are your home tie. Include their passport biodata page or birth certificate if they have one. |
