Whew! The VO sure had a lot of things to get off their mind.

In your statement of purpose were you able to tie your desire to study business analytics to the job you currently do and your previous degree? It seems the VO wasn’t convinced enough. Not sure if PGC is a good step after masters degree obtained in 2012. This trajectory needs a lot of convincing the VO.

Also the proof of fund aspect is pretty explanatory. Lump sum without explanation of where it is from is a red flag.

In regards to home-ties, what document did you provide? I’d advice including land or property documents etc. Even go as far as showing your family is doing well/ established cos there was something mentioned regarding that.

Queen6996:
I submitted my application on the 10th march this year. After the biometrics i got a refusal from the ircc stating that
Based on my purpose of visit
Based on personal assets and financial status
Im 40years, already with a masters degree in 2012. I have 3jobs. A Restaurant, shop and also working in the oil sector. I applied for business analytics for a certificate program.
With the finance i had almost CAS$ 42,000
I provided everything in the checklist. Yet i still got refused. I got GCMS note
Find in attachment. Can anybody help me with this.

Good day My people in the house , I have been a silent follower of this thread for a while now, please I need your advice on admission issues, I applied to university of manitoba in March against winter 2018, I submitted all documents and since may my application has been under review in the department, I contacted the faculty of graduate studies in July and I was told my application received a favorable review that I need an advisor, that my application will be on table till December and if I didn't find an advisor by then that my application will be discarded. I have contacted almost all the advisors in the department but they keep saying they are not taking student now, what can I do. I finished with a second class upper 3.77 and study nutrition and dietetics. Please who knows universities that studies nutrition or food science as masters and doesn't require an advisor, that is a course-based masters in nutrition or food science. Wetin my eye Don see concerning advisor no b small thing. Please help me out with your advice.
Try MSVU, They offer a master's degree in applied human nutrition and I don't think you require a supervisor.
You should also work with what judebebo32 said hopefully you will get an advisor.

Please my dear friends already in Canada.
I'll be schooling in Newfoundland by September this year.
I have a few questions I'll appreciate your feed back.

1. What do you do about cash. Do you open a Domcillary acct or move with in with cash?
Cash options have a drawback being that you could be robbed.
Domcillary I think has a drawback too being availability (not so sure) for cash

2. Being how cold NL what kinda items should I come with from Nigeria. This should include food, clothes , documents etc

Please I'll also need advice on flight booking as well as accommodation

Thanks.
I'll appreciate your assistance
I think if you can protect your money well, it is better to do cash. Just declare it. Domicillairy seems okay but availability, charges and all of that are discouraging.

Wrong. Maternal are you the god of Canada? Or the one who determines whether people will get job or not.
There are times you should keep quiet and stop all these your negativity.

@sirlop Do you have working experience? It is your working experience that counts. My friend only had BSC in a Nigerian University and ICAN and with solid experience, he landed jobs with PwC, KPMG and EY - All Manager grade and he went for EY.
It is not about your education, it is how you can prove your worth and add value to the organisation. There are times, you may want to enroll in some bridging continuous education to learn one or two things. Life is a continuous learning process. Please don't let anyone say you cannot achieve x and y. With the right attitude and right frame of mind you can move mountains. Impossibility exist only in the mind. Ontario Slogan is "yours to discover" and you can apply it to anywhere in life.

It is this same Maternal that was telling someone to move city because of bla bla. Please stop being rude to people and stop being myopic. There is no one size fits all rule. Haba. Learn to encourage people and stir them in the right direction in a Coaching manner.

Cheers
Chill! You don't have to attack him because you disagree with him, why not just say 'this is untrue' there is no need for the 'are you the god of canada' talk. He just gave his opinion, you too give yours without calling names.

Hi guys,
Sometimes i get confused with the way people take this 'not coming back home after your program' thing serious. In as much as I believe you should establish good hometies, i think it is not a major reason people get delayed their visas. We have seen people with just parents and no company documents or land or property documents get their visas.
If Canada didn't want us to stay back i.e come back home after schooling, they would have cancelled their PGWP and the opportunity of getting permanent residency and consequently Citizenship.
So I'm writing this cos i saw a post that said someone with a first class and distinction profile kinda intimidated the VOs and it's like why is he going abroad when he can easily get a job here in Nigeria. This cannot be true because Canada wants brilliant minds in their system too.
Heck! I know someone who has all his siblings and mother out of the country (this means no family and siblings as hometies sef), no company, just his family's land documents and still got a study permit. His case might be different but it's nothing out of the ordinary.
Anyways, i think we should work better on our purpose of visit and finances. If you need to tell the VOs anything, the SOP is your tool, use it wisely. I am a believer of submitting any document you think will work for you. Because somebody didn't submit survey doesn't mean you shouldn't submit yours. Do you!
For example, I didn't write any SOP, while filling my questionnaire, I didn't put anything about how the program will help me when i come back to Nigeria. Just basically wrote how the program will improve my knowledge on the course of study.
Little things count in your application too. For instance, in your CV, you are a graduate of Biology and your references are businessmen and maybe an accountant. It Doesn't show professionalism. Look for someone in your field to use.
Also, let's try to do some research ourselves and not wait to be spoonfed. Someone from this forum sent me a message and was like help me. I put in time to help this person gather some info only to realize this person actually wanted me to help write these things (SOP,CV etc). Things don't work like that, do your best first and others will help you.
PRAYER IS THE KEY! Never forget.
I pray for many more approvals in this house. For those traveling this week, we wish you a safe trip.
Cheers.

Hello bro, IMO, I believe your performances intimidated them. FIRST class and distinction as well as good certificates here and there is an indication of not coming back as they may feel you don't need a masters ( at this time when VO's are trying to be vigilant ). I think this is the case because if the VO were an employer, he is sure he would employ you ASAP. I think you should silence some of those certifications as I feel they have worked against you. On the other hand, if your brother has this much, I think in trust, he should be able to send you 3 or 4 million, backing it with a letter as a sign of commitment to sponsoring you. With this, I think it should relief some doubts in the mind of the VO's.
I am new here and I may not be right. Just my opinion. Wish you success. But in all things, we need to pray for the favor of GOD.
This is wrong. Your profile cannot intimidate a Visa Officer and we have seen people with his kinda profile get their visas. There is no need to hide or go silent on any of his qualifications or certifications.

Yes. I have ordered for it. I was informed it would takr 40 days to vet to me.

i thought the correspondence from Visa Office was clear enough to indicate what i need to prove well in my second application. Just for my enlightenement, what more would the GCMS contain ?

Secondly, i feel i am running out of time to meet the timeline to apply for the January intake since it took 3 months for the visa office to reply me the last time. if I dont put in early enough feel i might miss that too.

one more thing, does anyone have an idea of the time it might take to move the children over there if i got the visa this time. im very worried about them since my husband works in a different state and we do not have anyone so close that we could leave them with for the time being.

Thank you all.
I think you should still wait for your gcms note to come out. It is a document that shows the detailed reason the Visa Officer delayed your application. The one ticked is just a general reason without much information.
There is still enough time to meet up with January class. The note should be put before the end of September since you have requested for it and then you can put in your visa application in October.
You can apply for you children to join you as soon as you land in Canada. Just make sure, you have everything sorted i.e finances, accommodation, daycare/school, nanny and all that stuff. (This will show that you are prepared and their presence won't affect your education).
What school did you apply to?

There are many PGDs who show career progression and are still denied. The issue is not simply career progression. There is a general thinking among VOs that those who are going for PGD are probably not going to be bonafide students, that many use the opportunity to bail out of the country. A person with career progression just pm'd me that she was denied visa for a PGD. My advice: apply for a Masters or PHD and see reason, "purpose of study" change. VOs take masters students serious, and PHD students, very serious. PGD students they take not serious to pursue academic studies in Canada and that is why the rate of denial for PGD is significantly higher than all the rest.

I agree with you. While there are still people going the PGD route and getting Visas, majority of them get denied.
PGD admission is very easy to get, most people do not even have to do any form of writing to get the admission so it becomes the 'easier route' to schooling in Canada. The VOs know this, so to get approved in this 2017 o, your case must be extremely convincing.
To be honest, quite a number of PGD students from Nigeria, do not have genuine intent to study in Canada. PGD students get approved everyday from other countries (as seen on Canadavisa) but we Nigerians must have done something in Canada to be getting these high denial rate.
Go for masters to be on the safe side.

My middle name was written as " Shola " on my land doc (deed & survey) instead of " Sola " as on my credentials & Int'l passport.

I also don't know if I'm to do biometrics on that day, or only when they request for it.

You need to go with cash as they do not use POS. take 60k with you, although all you need is about 57k.
Biometric is also immediately, same day.

likeababygirl,

Thank you so much for the repsonse.
if I have to reapply, can I do that alone and have my kids join me up later? How soon can i have them join me later.

Secondly, I applied for 2 programs at the school and i was admitted for both but 1 came earlier than the other ( the MA Economics is for 2 years while the MA Int'l Accounting is for a year). I applied to CIC with the MA Economics which arrived first . if I want to reapply, can I apply with the MA Int'l Accounting? . I have a Bsc in Economics and also a Chartered Accountant with over 10 years experience. My objective is to improve myself with a foreing masters program to support my vision of setting up a consulting firm in Nigeria.

i will appreciate a feedback as quickly as possible since the MA Int'l Accounting can be deferred to January session while the MA Economics will only jave another session next year Sept if I miss this year.

Thanks once again and thank you to all too.
Yes your children can join you later. Let's say you get your visa, land and settle down in Canada. You can apply for your children to join you and a visit visa for your husband.

With over 10 years of being a chatered Accountant, the International accounting course seems like it is the best to use for your application. If it is possible defer both admissions.

After you get the visa, i think you should be able to change to the MA Economics program since it's for two years (just notify CIC). it is better to do a two year program, you stand a better chance at permanent residency and citizenship ( if that is a goal before setting up the consulting firm in Nigeria).

Before putting in another application please get your gcms note so you can know the exact reasons for denial. It takes about 30 days to be processed.

Dear Experts In the House,

I need your help. i just got a mail from the Canadian VIsa Centre stating that my Visa application was rejected. Reason was stated as : Ineligibility.

Details of my application are:

Paper route submitted at VFS lagos on the 3rd of May
Program: Masters of Arts in Economics, University of Windsor, Ontario.
40k Canadian dollars in personal account
Letter from Organisation where I work introducing me
Letter from Spouse's organisation where he works introducing him
Letter of SOP
Letter of sponsorship from Husband who is to remain in Nigeria during the course of study(2 years)
Property documents showing link to homeland
Copiess of academic credentials
copies of birth certificate and passport of 3 children who are to accompany me(aged 12-cool
TRV application for husband who is to accompany but return back to work immediately
No upfront medical
Admission letter from University
All other required documents.

What i need is to understand the meaning of "ineligibility". My plan is to defer the admission and reapply again almost immediately. i will however need to have a better insight on what i got wrong and how to avoid it this time.

Please i need your opinion as quickly as you can.
Thank you
Your correspondence letter should carry the exact reason for the delay.
Also i think applying with all your family members weakened your profile. They are supposed to serve as your major hometies, property documents are not as strong hometies as family.
Also, defer your admission and request for your gcms note. I'll advise that you should not apply with all your kids and husband in your next application because it is quite difficult and impractical to take care of three children while studying full time with no 'help'.
Also is your previous degree related to your proposed program of study?

Hi guys I have a question to ask. I want to reapply again for my student visa and I am stuck on the part of funds available. My tuition for the entire program is 28k, living expenses in Quebec is 11k. I want to pay a year tuition of 14k and have my mom open a Dom account and send the money for living expenses. Can you help me in filling it. Is the one I wrote okay?
You should fill 14k in your tuition, 11k in room and board, 3k or more in others. But please let your funds available be a total of what you filled i.e 14+11+3? Which is 28?. You can increase your others to 5k. So your total can sum up to 30k.
My opinion tho.

Good afternoon good people of nairaland. I am new here, and have gotten lots of information from this thread right from part 12, which am still reading. I am about submitting my application tomorrow, but would like to showcase my document for review. It goes thus;
Online route
Course progression: Bsc Business administration-->> MBA
Alll CIC forms
Passport data page
Passport page with UK visa
Police clearance
Birth certificate
Admission letter
Nysc call up letter
Acceptance letter from ppa
Nysc ID
Undergraduate Cert
Undergraduate transcript
Neco result
Sponsor(Dad) SOA with closing balance of 12m
Sponsor's shares about 30m
Sponsor's land asset about 5m
Sponsorship letter
Affidavit
Declaration of sponsorship
Semester fee receipt of $7500 from dom acct
Digital photo
And SOP addressing (career objectives, goals, purpose of visit, and why I choose Canada).
I am currently undergoing my nysc. And I am bothered about the situation of home tie, as it seems I lack one.
Your profile is similar to mine. You didn't include documents that highlight your sponsor's souce of income. Is he self employed? Where is the money coming from? I don't think including your statement of account is necessary. These VOs know what corpers are paid.
Your parents are your home tie. Include their passport biodata page or birth certificate if they have one.

When you get to police Hq, just ask of the finger print office (forensic). They will Probably say something around 15k but negotiate. Who knows, you might be able to bargain to a lower price.

Av read alot about people forgetting wot to say via u.s Visa interviews of which a close friend with well packaged app started stammering and was not evn given time to provide documents to back his application only to be told sorry!

My dear...

This is the most Simple.
I've been to both U.K and U.S visa interviews not everyone has that gift of boldness.

But for this one..its so simple if only you follow this rules clarifying all issues with proof and beyond reasonable doubt.

Why hang on to 50:50 chance of approval cos of rush when you could easily give yourselve time to prepare and see your 100% approval even before submitting your app.
Another angle. I agree with you on this.
