Newman1010:Rent depends on what kinda apartment you want and the location. The one i am talking about is about $1,050 for a month. Two bedroom, unfurnished with heat, hot water and electricity. |

fiendishghoul: These people you mentioned above didn't apply for their study permit in Canada and more importantly not on a visit visa. They had legal residence(student visa) in the country they applied from. The person I replied wants to convert a Canadian visit visa to a study visa from inside canada. |

kaizenBash:You cannot convert a visit or business visa to a study visa, you have to apply fresh for a study visa. You also have to come back home to apply for the study visa. So best thing for you is to leave getting the visit visa idea (cos you don't have it yet) and focus on getting an admission and applying for your study permit from Nigeria. |

debbiejosh:This is true. I think we should be careful. I have read a lot of these cases on canadavisa(dot)com. These people come running and seeking for help and when you find out, it's because of working extra hours or illegally. Sometimes, people get away with it but why gamble. If they don't find out when applying for PGWP, they might find out when it's PR time. We really don't want to jeopardize our chances of getting PR for the extra $2,000 we made while working before classes started. Please let's try to do all our hustle in Nigeria if we really need extra cash before school resumes. 1 Like |

DereI:Just curious. Isn't it illegal to work before classes begin? I have read that it might seem like it's no big deal now but can affect ones application when requesting for PGWP. 1 Like 1 Share |

2bpat:This depends on your CGPA. University of New Brunswick waives GMAT for their MBA if you make i think 3/4 ( i think) Canadian cgpa. You can also check out Post graduate certificate in Accounting. Fanshawe has one called 'Professional Accounting'. But then be ready to explain the relationship between marketing and accounting during visa application. 1 Like |

Not to discourage you or anything. Your profile is very complicated and visa approval is slim. First one is the inconsistency you have in your education. Sociology, teaching, fashion, hospitality and management. It cannot fly even with the best SOP. Second one is you want to go with your 3 kids and even your husband. Those are the main people you can use as hometies. Questions like who is going to run your husband's business will arise cos you have stated that he will be in charge of the children. I'll advise you to find a course related to your undergraduate since you don't have any substantial work experience in either teaching or fashion. Don't apply with all your children . Trust me they can join you later. Taking 3 kids along with you when you want to go study doesn't paint a picture of a serious student IMO. And Later can be as early as 2 months. Just my opinion. 5 Likes |

atiteb4:Your result from first year to last year is used. some schools give special consideration to last two years cos they believe that is when you did your research. However, even if your last two years is great and you don't meet their general cut off point of 3/4, you may be bounced. |

radeke2017:Your documents are okay. But why didn't you try a masters admission since you have a second class upper degree? It might be hard to convince the Visa Officer as to why you chose a PGC over a masters degree. I'll advice that you work on getting a masters degree admission against winter/fall 2018 and then you are good to go. However, since you have paid tuition. You should apply for the Visa. Write a good statement of purpose and explain why you chose the pgc and maybe you will convince the Visa Officer. All the best. |

Olakunlae:just keep trying sometimes it does that. If you have a 3.5 and above, your cgpa is more than 3.0 on ths scale of 4. |

Nolongthang:What is the relationship you have with your sponsor? He cannot just declare all the 3 million naira he has for you especially if he/she isn't your parent or if there are other dependents. Also if your sponsor has a good source of income, you can declare that he paid your fees for you and will also cover the remaining fee. However, there must be a good inflow of money into the account supported by other work documents. Nope you cannot declare that you will pay your fees through freelancing job. It a no no. Think about it what if you don't get any freelancing job? So you become stranded. That won't fly. 1 Like |

odalonu12:- $12k-$17k for one year - No. One year pgd gives you one year post graduate work permit. 2 or more years in school gives you 3 years Pgwp. So if you complete a one year pdg, your work permit will be for one year after which you must apply for PR or leave Canada. - That is the minimum wage. They differ from province to province btw. You should read up on these things. Google can help. |
Travel / Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 12 by likeababygirl: 12:48pm On Jun 27, 2017 |
odalonu12:1. I don't think the PGD gives any extra advantage in applying for a masters cos your undergraduate degree result will still be used for admission. 2. Yes, you will get only a one year visa 3. Yes you can work, however it is almost impossible to work and earn money enough to pay up the remaining semester fees because you are only entitled to work 20hrs/ week and minimum wage is about CAD$11. 4. No, ideally you are not allowed to work until you school resumes. so even if you differ your admission, you have to wait till you start classes before you work. I'll advice that you try to get your one year tuition fees before traveling so you won't end up stranded and out of status in Canada. to be honest, the money you will make for part time work will almost be exhausted after paying for rent, feeding and transportation. 1 Like |

Douglaseguakun:Why do you want to disregard your first degree tho? It even puts more stress on you cos you have to justify what you were doing during those years you were in uni studying. I'll say look for a masters or postgraduate certificate admission. Masters preferably if you finished with a second class upper. You stand a better chance of getting your visa with that. 2. As long as you get married before you apply for your study permit and you financially capable using the CIC requirement, you are good to go. It's better to get your own visa first tho before she applies for her own. |
