The Presidential Candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC), Muhammadu Buhari, weekend, promised to create at least one million jobs for youths in the South-East by revamping the huge coal deposits in Enugu for generation of electricity and export. The former head of state made the promise at Enugu West APC zonal rally, in Orie, Awgu Market, Awgu Local Government Area of the state. Although he was absent at the rally, he was ably represented by the state Chairman of APC Presidential Campaign Council, Osita Okechukwu. He explained that the coal would be revamped with the objective of generating electricity to serve the entire South-East, to boost the economy of the zone. “We are banking on huge coal deposits located at Amasiodo, Inyi and Leje axis of Enugu Coal belt,” said Buhari, who vowed to award the contract immediately he was sworn-in, if he won. “We are going to award contract for mining and construction of coal-fired-power-plant unlike Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, that since 1999 promised to revamp the coal fields and 16 years after, nothing has been done. “We believe that coal is the most abundant fossil fuel in Enugu State and Enugu Coal is one of the most qualitative brands in the world, which means that while some are used to generate electricity, some will be exported.” The APC candidate noted that his objective was to create one million jobs directly and indirectly, from the coal project, as ancillary projects would follow. “My idea is to emulate the Taichung Coal-Fired- Power-Plant in Taiwan, the largest coal power station in the world. Coal supplies 46 percent electricity in the United States and over 60 per cent electricity in China. It is callous to abandon such golden treasure,” he said. “For 16 years, every election Igbo voted for PDP and yet, the coal belt remains untapped, hence there is no commensurate reward. In 2014 budget for instance, over N600 billion capital projects were executed in South South, while less than N200 billion was executed in the South East, is that equity and justice?” he queried. http://www.informationng.com/2015/01/buhari-promises-seast-1million-jobs-if-voted-as-president.html |

Next month’s elections must go on as scheduled, theUnited States (U.S.) said yesterday. There have been unpopular suggestions of a shift in some circles, with the tacit support of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). The position of the U.S was conveyed in Lagos yesterday by Secretary of State John Kerry after separate meetings with President Goodluck Jonathan and Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, the top contenders in the February 14 presidential election. National Security Adviser (NSA) Col. Sambo Dasuki (rtd) gave the clearest hint yet of the interest of the Federal Government in shifting the elections when he declared at a lecture in Chatham House in London last Thursday that there was nothing wrong in postponing the polls to enable eligible Nigerians collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs). The statement has attracted outrage from many Nigerians, who likened it to a coup against the Constitution. The All Progressives Congress (APC) condemned the “advice”, saying it is a ploy to enable the ruling party regain its breath. But the PDP has not said anything on it. Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Chairman Prof. Attahiru Jega has, however, said a change in date is not contemplated by the agency. Yesterday, Kerry declared: “It is imperative these elections happen on time and as scheduled and must be improvements over past elections.” He added: “They must set a new standard for this democracy. That means, Nigerians must not only reject violence, they have to actually promote peace.” Kerry met with President Goodluck Jonathan at the State House in Marina, Lagos before meeting with General Buhari at the U.S. Consulate House in Ikoyi. Gen. Buhari was accompanied by APC National Chairman Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, National Leader Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and Campaign Director and Rivers State Governor Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi. The delegation arrived at the venue at about 2.41pm and immediately went into the closed door session, which lasted about two hours. Kerry also cautioned against violence. He said any politician who organised a widespread “systematic violence” against civilian population will be held accountable, including placing them on diplomatic sanction. A source said Buhari told Kerry that the APC was against violence, adding that unruly behaviours occurred in PDP states. He said: “I came here today to deliver a very simple message and I have met with both major candidates to underscore that international community has paid a very close attention into this election and we are deeply committed to working with Nigerians with the hope that they will have an election that is free of violence and capable of instilling confidence in the future.” The U.S. envoy said there was need for a long-term and comprehensive global effort to combat violent extremism and to address its underlying causes. Nigeria, he said, knows how such global effort is desperately needed. He said the U.S was concerned about the effrontery of Boko Haram, which, he said, daily visits its bloody campaign on innocent civilians, and attacks villages and military installations in places like Borno, Yobe and Adamawa states. He said the U.S. government deeply regretted the toll, which insurgency was taking on the people. Kerry dismissed the notion that there was an alliance between Islamic State of Iraq and Levant (ISIL) and Boko Haram, saying intelligence before the U.S. government showed the latter sprang up independently. He said President Barack Obama pledged his support for the Nigerian troops in fighting Boko Haram insurgency. He said there was need for a multi-national strategy that would not only crush Boko Haram and Al-qaeda, but which would also address the environment from where violent extremism grows. He said: “This is why President Obama announced an international summit next month in Washington on combating violent extremism around the world. It will be held at the White House and it will be at the ministerial level and we hope to bring people together; they will be engaged on the fight against Boko Haram and other entities. So, we can share best practices and we can hear from people about what they need and what they think is necessary to summon stronger global response.” The envoy said the best way to combat Boko Haram is by organising peaceful, credible and transparent election, which he said is essential for any thriving democracy. Nigeria, which he described as the largest thriving democracy in Africa, cannot afford to miss the opportunity. “I met with President Jonathan earlier today (yesterday) and separately with Gen. (Muhammadu) Buhari. I was encouraged to hear once again from both men that, this is exactly what they intend to do; to try to press for election that would be held with credibility, which people of Nigeria want and deserve. “As President Jonathan said in his New Year’s message, ‘none of our political ambitions is worth the blood of any of our countrymen, women and children’. And as Gen. Buhari recently twitted, ‘electoral violence is unacceptable and every Nigerian life is sacred’. Both candidates have also signed on to the so-called Abuja Accord, which commits them to running exclusively issue-based campaigns, refraining from violence before during and after election day; And speaking out against violence. “This is a commitment we need to see from everyone. And they are commitments that need to be kept. Many people are stepping out. For example, Comrade (Attahiru) Jega, chairman of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the commission’s employees are taking concrete steps to guarantee these elections are successful. We also urge all Nigerian governors to call for peaceful democratic engagements. We ask all parties, candidates to do the same.” If any candidate had reason to doubt the outcome of the election, Kerry said such a person should explore the legal channel, which he said is the most viable option and fundamental to the democratic process. He said Nigeria remained a strategic partner of the United States and has critical roles to play in development of Africa. The envoy said U.S. government was committed to ensuring the general elections are successful, noting that President Obama, last week, sent an Electoral Security Adviser to advise INEC on security and risk for any violence that might emerge. Kerry said: “Let me be clear. Anyone who participates in widespread systematic violence against the civilian population must be held accountable, including ineligibility for American visa. Violence has no place in democratic elections and I guarantee you that the perpetrators of such violence will not be welcomed in the United States of America.” The U.S. Secretary also spoke on telephone with the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof Attahiru Jega, wishing him well “on the onerous task of conducting an election that will be acceptable to all Nigerians and deemed credible by international community.” |

Lil Wayne addressed his displeasure with Birdman and Cash Money in the opening track of his Sorry 4 The Wait 2 mixtape. “Birdman Jr? More like ugly duckling,” he raps on ‘Coco’, suggesting after being treated like a son by Birdman, now he’s being treated like an outcast. “All I got is Young Money, no more Cash nigga,” he raps later, echoing his previous social media message that he’s done with Birdman’s Cash Money label. In the track, Wayne also compares himself to Scarface protagonist Tony Montana, who we all know kept fighting relentlessly against long odds. According to TMZ , this has further angered Baby, who is already furious that Wayne has been airing their dirty laundry in public. The tabloid’s sources add that Weezy’s lyrical kiss off is making it even more unlikely Birdman will release him from his Cash Money contract, and will make Baby even more resolute if the matter goes to court. |
The Lil Wayne Birdman feud is going to involve the courts. TMZ reports that Wayne is suing Baby for $8 million, which is the amount of money he says he is owed as an advance for Tha Carter V . Weezy is also asking a judge to free him from Cash Money because Birdman has violated the terms of their contact by withholding the release of the album. Wayne and Baby had been trying to come to terms this week and avoid court, but that didn’t happen. Sources say the Cash Money-directed lyrics on Wayne’s Sorry 4 The Wait 2, which dropped Tuesday, hurt the negotiations and hardened Birdman’s stance that he was going to release Tha Carter V on his schedule . Wayne is expected to focus on mixtapes and other music outside of Cash Money’s umbrella while he’s in litigation. |

The presidential candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC), General Muhammadu Buhari, has promised to restructure the Nigeria Army and Police, if elected. Buhari made the promise on Thursday in Gusau at the inauguration of his campaign. He said that his plan, if materialised, would boost the efforts of the two security institutions to battle insurgency with renewed vigour. Buahri said that the need to restructure the army and police became necessary because the enemies had become more and highly sophisticated in the use of weapons. “Our Army and Police will be highly equipped with all the required weapons, educated and uneducated youths will be employed through different programmes that will be created by our administration. “We will rebuild our educational system and employ youths not on sentiment and god-fatherism. ‘We will as well find ways of restrengthening the country’s economy.” He called on the youth to remain vigilant but maintain peace during and after the elections so as to ensure free, fair and credible elections in the country. NAN reports that chieftains of the party, including its National Chairman, Mr John Oyegun, and Prof. Yemi Osibanjo, Buhari’s running mate, attended the occasion. Others were Alhaji Kawu Baraje, Zamfara Governor, Alhaji Abdul’aziz Yar,i and Senator representing Zamfara-West, Alhaji Ahmad Yarima, among others . . http://247nigerianewsupdate.co/ill-restructure-the-army-police-says-buhari/ |

Lil Wayne dropped his new mixtape Sorry 4 The Wait 2 in order to make it up to his fans for the delay of his highly-anticipated studio album Tha Carter V . As you already know, Weezy and his industry dad, Birdman, are currently on the rocks, as Tunechi claims he has been a prisoner of Cash Money Records for a minute now and is not able to put out his new LP, even though it's ready to go. Liberating his new project, Wayne offered plenty of remixes of some of the hottest jams for 2014, including a remake of O.T. Genasis' anthem "CoCo." No doubt at all, some of the lyrics are directly aimed at Baby. Have a read below. “ Who kept this shit together? Nigga, me, that's who Who was there when niggas left? Nigga, me, that's who Cash Money is an army, I'm a one man army And if them niggas comin' for me, I'm goin' out like Tony Now I don't want no problems, I just want my money Ain't gotta hold no conversation or my luggage Tell whoever's countin' that I'm on a hundred Birdman Jr., more like Ugly Duckling" |

I believe that many of the traditional roles of men and women are valid and essential to creating and preserving the right dynamics in a relationship, and some of us are too quick to dismiss those customs that have been established over many centuries or even thousands of years, and which made the relationships between men and women work much better before than they do today. Therefore, when it come to initiating a contact and making a move on someone you are attracted to and would like to meet and potentially date, it’s ultimately a man’s job to be the initiator and to make that first move. This is one of the qualities that makes a guy come across as both strong and attractive to a woman who he is approaching – her seeing that he is capable of doing that and also her realizing that he doesn’t wait for things to happen; he takes his life into his own hands, and he creates his own opportunities, despite the risks of failure involved in making that move. However, many women face the frustrating situation with guys who don’t show initiative even thought these men appear to be interested. This could be someone as close as your school mate or a colleague who you see and talk to every day, amd who flirts with you and asks you personal questions about your dating life and your views on dating in general, but who doesn’t seem to able to take it to the next level and ask you out. Or, it could be an employee of a store you frequent at, who is always extra friendly with you and tries to have a conversation with you when you come in without actually asking you out. You almost expect him to finally invite you for coffee or a movie, and yet he never gets there. And sometimes, it’s a neighbor who clearly stares at you when he sees you as long as your are in his view, but he never approaches you to introduce himself or have a normal conversation with you to get to know you a little better. He might even make you feel uncomfortable by staring at you , but all he is really doing is admiring what he sees. All these guys have one thing in common – they don’t make a move because they are either shy or don’t know what to say, or they are afraid you might not be available. It’s also possible that they have been brainwashed with all the advice about the importance of being a challenge with women and are therefore playing hard to get – not because they want to but because they have been told that that’s the right way to be. So, if you are interested in getting to know that guy, you have a choice: either waiting for him to actually make a move and ask you out one day or be proactive yourself. Which way are you going to go? |
