12 Reasons Why Tinubu Cannot Be President 1. The Generals from Alani Akinrinade to TY Danjuma, IBB etc do not want Asiwaju to contest. Akinrinade & Danjuma asked him to withdraw from the race and analysed to him the danger of losing everything if he contested the primaries and lost. General Akinrinade is close to Asiwaju and does not want him to lose face after the election. 2. The Governors told him at the meeting he had with them that they would not support him. They accused him of being obsessed with power. They reminded him of how he snubbed them when they pleaded with him to support Ambode and Obaseki. 3. Afenifere leaders are totally against his presidential ambition. Olu Falae and Baba Fasoranti pointedly told him while Ayo Adebanjo has never hidden his disdain for Asiwaju's presidential ambition. 4. His health challenges are too overwhelming to be ignored. Nigerians want a healthy president who will be available to lead the country out of the woods. 5. Too many faux pas. Since announcing his intention to contest, Asiwaju's campaign has been bogged down with self-inflicted errors through wrong pronouncements from asking people to renew obsolete voter's cards to the threat of violence. People doubt his mental capacity even though he insists he has the capacity to lead. 6. Avoidable rift with NURTW. Tinubu sided with MC Oluomo against the NURTW which has a nationwide reach. Traditionally, Tinubu's camp enjoyed a good rapport with the body during elections. That base is no longer there. 7. The aspirant the stakeholders in the party is considering now a PYO . Asiwaju is not on President Buhari's radar and the President has told close associates he will never hand over power to Tinubu or Atiku because of the concern over greed and corruption. Fayemi and Amosun may also declare their intention any moment from now but once the party decides on consensus to support PYO, they will throw their weight behind him. Fayemi and Amosun's declaration will further enfeeble Asiwaju's ambition. Of course, Fayemi and Amosun would like to win but they realise that their chances may be slim. 8. The general consensus in the South West is that PYO stands a better chance to win at the general election than Asiwaju. Some even believe that Asiwaju himself knows. They therefore cannot understand why he is playing the spoiler role. 9. Almost all members of the Tinubu original power/intellectual base and allies when he was Governor are not in support of his Presidential ambition. Aregbesola, Afikuyomi, Ojudu, Onanuga, Alake, Fasola etc. Most of them may work for PYO. 10. Discerning people have compared Lagos with Dubai in 1999 when Tinubu took over as Governor and has been the power behind the throne since then. There is no basis for comparison between what Dubai has become between 1999 and now and what Lagos has become in the intervening period in spite of the enormous resources of Lagos. They pinned it down to one source: the avarice of Tinubu. They do not see how Nigeria can make the kind of progress the people want with Asiwaju's leadership style. What the country wants and needs is a selfless leader who will work for the best interest of the people. 11. Above all the nation won’t survive a Muslim - Muslim presidency. It is too dangerous to try and Tinubu is insisting on that. It was for this same reason he could not be VP to both Atiku and Buhari at different times. The non acceptance of this is not even from the Christians but from fellow Christians. 12. His greed is believed to have no comparison. Some said it could only be compared to that of Abacha. Recently he moved to an 11 million pounds house in London transferred to him by Madam Deziani in 2016 as payment for protection from the administration which they believed he brought to being. Another luxury apartment owned by the same Deziani and transferred to him has been located in New York and the government of Nigeria has filed actions to recover them. Copied |

DON'T BLAME THE APC MEMBERS IN LAGOS, THEY'RE NOT USED TO DEMOCRACY Politicians in the Lagos APC do not understand what democracy is all about because they have never experienced, tasted or practiced it. Since 1999, they have been toeing the same path of "Bourdillon sọ pé". They have been working for one man and one man only. Compare that to Ekiti, Ondo, Oyo, Osun or Ogun States where people removed their governors without having to take instructions from a lord who to vote or not to vote for. In Lagos, no initiative or discretion is allowed. Every member of the APC in Lagos exists for Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu only. They cannot "misbehave". They are like chickens in a cage. They don't have thoughts of their own. Unlike in other Yoruba states where a sitting governor may not even secure a Senatorial seat. Where the preferred candidate of an outgoing governor may not win. In Lagos, dictatorship rather than freewill prevails. No one dare argue with Tinubu. It's strange, very strange to see anyone do so. It's a taboo. That is why everyone engages in a rat race to curry the favours of the prominent couple on Bourdillon Road. This explains why APC members who see Osinbajo's declaration against their demigod should be forgiven. They're not used to seeing people express a different or contrary view to the one expressed by Asiwaju. To them, Asiwaju is God. Whatever he says must come to pass. It is not in their character to think for themselves. If Tinubu shows interest in having any of their wives, they will gladly and excitedly offer to personally take the wife to any hotel of Tinubu's choice just so they can see him even if he will still discard them like a rag. The Yoruba call such attitude "Atẹnujẹ". Atẹnujẹ is a word for both the unreasonable and desperate man ready to take any insults just to feed as well as the gluttony who is ready to do anything for the sake of a filthy lucre. They call him Jagaban of Borgu, a town in Niger State because he likes to be so called not because the title per se has any serious traditional meaning or relevant to the chieftaincy hierarchy of Borgu. "Throw corns to the chickens". That's how he addresses his spineless supporters and followers. Whatever he says or ordered reverberates and resonates within the party structure in Lagos so quickly that instant affirmation follows. Even if there are superior views, no one dare express them. The tamed political followership in Lagos cannot fathom how a mortal being can argue with Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. It is a taboo. It is unheard of. It is sacrilegious. Having been weaned from the political dogmatism of Lagos State, VP Osinbajo's declaration, much as it is a soothing balm to most Nigerians, remains an effrontery to Lagos APC members. They can't think out of the box. They are quick to point to ingratitude or betrayal. Pray, does the public office of Lagos State belong to the Tinubu family from which Asiwaju dishes out favours as he wills? Are the public offices not funded by tax payers' money? Was Asiwaju himself not helped, assisted and favoured by the likes of PA Abraham Adesanya, Ganiyu Dawodu and co over the late Engr. Funsho Williams in 1998? Has anyone bothered to ask how he repaid those elders and with what he repaid them with? Within 8 years, Asiwaju used nothing less than 3 deputy governors. What does that tell anyone about his team play? Babatunde Raji Fashola was not to be given a second term ticket until Tinubu saw the handwriting of Lagosians (not Lagos ACN of the time) on the wall. He reprobates and approbates at the same time. Because of his unquenchable thirst for primitive accumulation, Lagos State has lost all the gains of the Fashola years. The State now looks like a big chaotic scene of a horror movie where nothing functions. Don't blame the Lagos APC members. They ain't used to democracy. They are strangers to independent mindedness. But they should be reminded, whether they recognize it or not, that the patronage Tinubu dishes does not belong to him or his family. It is a commonwealth. The man Asiwaju, does no favour without expecting quantum rewards in return. This is the character the Lagos APC members want as Nigeria's president. Take a look at Lagos where the sitting governor, who's a general manager reporting to a CEO, can barely think of his own accord. Take a look at the dysfunctionality of the city of Lagos under his supervision and you wouldn't want Nigeria to become likewise. |

..... A SLOW JOURNEY TO VENEZUELA Venezuela is suffering an unprecedented man made humanitarian disaster. It resembles a country at war and some of their major problems include extreme food and medicine shortage, rampant crime, and constant electricity blackouts. Some of these problems resemble another country I know. Venezuela is experiencing what Economists describe as an extreme case of hyperinflation. In this case, the prices of goods double every 26 days. One source reported that a cup of coffee cost 450 Bolivares in 2016. By 2019, the same cup of coffee was a shocking 2.5 million Bolivares. 90% of Venezuelans live in poverty and their currency is practically worthless. The poor citizens have to rely on the barter system to get what they want while the rich ones use the US dollar. But it was not always so... In the 1960s and 1970s, Venezuela was the richest country in Latin America. You might call her the giant of Latin America. This resembles another Giant of a continent I know. If you told South Americans 50 years ago that in the early 21st century, Venezuela would be among the poorest countries in the world, they would have laughed. At that time, Venezuela was one of the wealthiest countries in Latin America. Forget Russia and Saudi Arabia. Venezuela has the largest oil reserves on earth. Over 18% of the world's reserves are in Venezuela. Leaning on it's oil industry and exports, she became richer and richer in the 1960s. In the 1970s, oil prices quadrupled almost over night. Venezuela became insanely wealthy. This resembles the phenomenon described as the oil boom of the 1970s in another country I know. Because of this exteme wealth, Venezuela fell into what is described as a RESOURCE CURSE. This happens when a country fails to diversify it's economy, relying heavily on one resource. Instead of using the oil money to develop it's agriculture or manufacturing processes, the country imported most of what it needs and pays for it with the oil money. This resembles another country I know. Unfortunately when a country depends solely on one resource, that nation's future is dictated by the price and demand of that resource. This became a problem for Venezuela as in the late 1970s, the demand for oil dropped. In 1980, oil price was 34 dollars per barrel and in 1986, it had dropped to 10 dollars per barrel. This was the beginning of trouble for Venezuela. The government was in debt. It had debts of over 33 billion dollars. What did it do, well it turned to the IMF for loans. It started borrowing more and more money just to keep the country moving. This resembles another country I know. Maybe it is on a journey to Venezuela. Some of the conditions for these loans were austerity measures on the citizens. Subsidies were removed on many goods, prices went up and life became very hard for the citizens. A riot broke out in 1989 and the military intervened by shooting and killing protesters. Sounds familiar? It resembles another country you might have heard of. Is it on a journey to Venezuela? The situation became worse when the rich transferred their money abroad. There was a capital flight. The rich bought up US dollars and set up foreign bank accounts. It means that the wealth was no longer in Venezuela or serving it in any way. And then Hugo Chavez happened! He contested the presidential elections promising the citizens CHANGE! In 1998 he was surprisingly voted into power. Sounds familiar? When he took power, he went on a spending spree on social programs. To do this, he had to use the country's oil profits thereby creating an even bigger dependence on oil. The social programs put some money in people's pockets but it was a temporary fix. Unfortunately Chavez didn't spend any money maintaining oil facilities. This led to a slow down of production. Chavez also failed to diversify the economy. He was a popular and charismatic leader who had promised CHANGE! So he was quite popular. He started having autocratic tendencies and thought he could do whatever he wanted. He put his friends and supporters in positions of power regardless of their expertise and expanded the military's power and control. Doesn't this resemble another country that you know? A country that's slowly moving towards Venezuela? The final straw happened in 2010 when Chavez declared an economic war. He devalued the currency to make up for budget deficit. also, he made it difficult for the citizens to get Forex for their imports. What resulted was the massive hyperinflation that persists today. Chavez died in 2013 of cancer. His successor, made things worse for the economy. He ruled nu decree, he arrested opposition leaders and shut down websites critical of him. Venezuela has the world's largest oil reserves but citizens queue for days to get petrol in their cars. Why? There are no working refinaries. All the refined oil is imported. So people are getting rich on oil importation while the rest of the country dies of poverty. Am I still talking about Venezuela or another country I know? It's hard to tell the difference at this point. By 2016, inflation in Venezuela was 800%. Today, it is around 9000% In summary, Venezuela's problems were caused by the following factors. 1. Extreme dependence on oil (the resource curse). 2. Failure to diversify the economy. 3. Political and economic mismanagement. 4. Corruption. 5. Plummeting oil prices. Hmmmm. This formula will always produce the same result whether in Latin America or West Africa! Any country that goes down this road is unfortunate. IT IS ON A SLOW JOURNEY TO VENEZUELA. |
Why can’t we just address our problem one by one perhaps we can get a solution, let’s start from insecurity and then to poverty, then we can solve the problem of corruption within the civil servants then proceed to our politician, then to unemployment… that’s when we can proceed to all this fraudsters… |
