Men of the Lagos State Criminal Intelligence and Investigations Department (SCIID), Panti Street, Yaba have arrested 53-year-old owner of a drinking bar, Obioma Dennis, for allegedly stabbing one of his customers to death.

Dennis who is waiting for his arraignment in court, told newsmen that he regrets his actions and believes he was under a spell cast on him by his enemies. Dennis said the deceased and two of his friends had come to his shop located in Alausa and were about to smoke banned substance, Indian Hemp, when he challenged them. The argument that ensued degenerated into a fight that led to him stabbing the deceased.

“In rage, I grabbed hold of the chair they were sitting on, which is mine and threw it inside my shop. While I was inside my shop, one of the guys who I later identified as Emeka started destroying my electronic appliances.

He smashed my television. To save what was left of my belongings, I pushed him out of my shop. The next thing I saw was that Ifeayi grabbed a bottle of beer and smashed it on my head. I ran into the inner part of the shop where we prepare food. I grabbed one of the kitchen knives and stabbed Ifeanyi on his chest. He fell down in a pool of blood holding his chest.

“I regret my action now because Ifeanyi is like my younger brother. I contributed cash when his father died three years ago. If I was not gripped by anger, I don’t think I would see myself killing anyone” he said


The police said the suspect was arrested and detained at Alausa Police Station but that the case was later transferred to SCIID, Panti for elaborate investigation.

“It is a clear case of culpable homicide. The case would be charged to court at the end of investigation’, the police said.

Veteran Nollywood actress, Patience Oseni has died.

The actress died on Monday, February 17, 2020, in Calabar, Cross River State. Her daughter, Augusta Akomolafe confirmed the actress' death to the National President of AGN, Ejezie Emeka Rollas.

Oseni was a member of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) and the organization is mourning her demise.

A strange sculpture scared students, workers, and visitors of University of Ibadan after it was placed in front of the main entrance gate by unknown persons on Friday morning.

The image carved in human form had never been seen in front of the gate until the morning of February 14.

The image might not have been suspicious, except that it had pepper and tomatoes placed around it. Tomato juice was also seen circling the image, thereby making it look fetish-like.

A senior staff member of UI who spoke with Tribune Online stated that it wasn’t strange for members of the Non-Academic Staff Union (NASU) of the institution to place fetish objects in strategic areas of the school when they embark on strike to scare people away.

The NASU leadership on Thursday, called on its members in UI to begin an indefinite strike action against the school authorities to press home its demands for better welfare package.

NASU chairman, UI, Comrade Malachy Etim, while speaking to the publication, confirmed the development. He said it was the union that placed what he called “a harmless object in front of UI gate, which according to him, “only symbolises the unity of our union.”

A female student of the Department of Mass Communication, University of Maiduguri (UNIMAID), Fatima has been identified as one of the 30 people killed by Boko Haram terrorists in an attack launched in Auno village, Borno on Sunday February 9, 2020.

According to reports, Fatima was burnt to death by the insurgents who also abducted many women and children in the attack which occurred while she was on her way back to school.

A student(name unknown)of the department of Dramatic Arts, Obafemi Awolowo University has been confirmed dead today Monday 10th of February 2020. She was involved in a fatal road accident yesterday 9th of February, 2020 at Eripa, Boluwaduro Local Government Area of Osun state where not less than 10 people were confirmed dead at the spot.

It was gathered that the victims were returning from the annual pilgrimage to Oke-Maria in Otan-Ayegbaju in a bus belonging to St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Lagere, Ile-Ife. The OAU undergraduate, name and level unknown at the time of filing this report, was among those that sustained brutal injuries in the accident and were transferred to LUTH, Osogbo for medical treatment but she was confirmed dead this morning by her friend.

It is worthy of note that she would be the third student OAU would lose to the cold and cruel hands of death this year. We commiserate with her parents and relatives and we pray God will grant them the fortitude to bear the loss.

The Sunday Telegraph can reveal that the retired 64-year-old is behind the construction of a cutting-edge vessel by the Dutch superyacht specialist Feadship.

The custom build is based on blueprints for the 112-metre design "Aqua" publicised last year at the Monaco Yacht Show by the Dutch marine architects Sinot to draw environmentally sensitive billionaires. It said the plans took “inspiration from the lifestyle of a discerning, forward-looking owner”.

An ATM card thief has been nabbed in a hotel he lodged in with his girlfriend.

The suspect got quite unlucky after he stole an ATM card from an unsuspecting elderly citizen from whose account he withdrew over N500k while posing as a policeman.

He was nabbed after he made a transfer with the ATM card in a hotel he lodged in near his victim's house.

Narrating how the suspect withdrew over N500K from her mother's account, Vivian Emesaraonye Dimgba wrote;

My mum was duped of 500k last night. She went to the Atm, tried to put her pin, it wasnt working. She saw a young man standing behind her, and turned to him to complain or vent basically. Feigning concern, he asked to assist her try again. Being so trusting herself, she gave him the card. He put it, and told her the Atm card was stuck, and that she needed to go inside the bank and tell them. She went to the security man, since the bank was already closed and did just that. By the time she came out, the man already left. Oh, he told her he was a policeman.

Fast forward to 12 midnight, she got her first transfer alert 300k. Then 100k..until there was only 30k left in the account. She got dressed, then drove to town with my dad, and made a police report. But they couldn't do much, since they were not sure the Atm terminal he made the transfer from.

At about 1am, he made another transfer. But this time through a POS machine. Eastgate Hotel. Less than 15 minutes walk from my house. He paid for the room, and ordered food as well. We called back the police men, told them of our findings and they met us at the hotel in less than 30 minutes.

They got into the hotel, checked the person who lodged in at the time the POS sent the alert. The print-out they had corresponded with my mum's Atm card number. That was how we apprehended him with the girl he made the transfer of the first 300k to. She allegedly was meeting him for the first time yesterday, but they've been friends on Facebook for a while. We also recovered some Atm cards, which included my mum's card , and the printout he used for the transactions.

Anyway, they are both cooling their heels in the holding cell and will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.

I must commend the squad for their timely intervention. After today, my perception of the Nigerian police is a bit different..

The Atm cards. I blurred the cards as not to further expose the owners . The diamond access card is my mum's. You can see the receipt he used for the last transaction. I still don't know why he didn't pay with cash, because he obviously had some of the money he withdrew from the Atm.

I guess it was greed. 7k was what gave him out. I feel no sympathy for him. My mum is a high blood pressure sufferer. Close your eyes for a minute and imagine her state now. The money isn't hers either. It was transfered from dad's business contact for a surveying work he was suposed to carry out for his client. I would've refunded 500k, for no just cause.

Those of you who feel like the girl is innocent, did you see where I used the word "allegedly?" until proven otherwise.. She's a thief. She's complicit. And how is she supposed to prove that she's innocent. ?

Finally, stop Inboxing me to release the girl. Do I look like the police ? Who takes 300k from a random stranger? If my mum had slumped last night, all I would've gotten is rest in peace. I'll block anyone who mildly suggests the girl is innocent. Not unless you're privy to the complete details of the case, your opinion is not needed.

Veteran actor and comedian, Orson Bean is dead at the age of 91 after being struck by a car while crossing a street in Venice, California on Friday night.

The late entertainer was walking in 700 block of Venice Boulevard, between Shell Avenue and Pisani Place when he was clipped by one vehicle and fell.

He was ran over by another car driven by a second driver who bystanders tried to warn. Los Angeles who said Bean was pronounced dead at the scene, added that the driver remained at the scene and was cooperative. Investigators said the initial indication from the scene is that it was just a tragic accident, as it appeared that Bean came in-between two vehicles when he was crossing the street and was not seen by the drivers.

Los Angeles Police Department's Capt. Brian Wendling said;


"The car coming westbound did not see him and clipped him and he went down. A second vehicle was coming up, was distracted by people trying to slow him down and then looked up and then a second traffic collision occurred and that one was fatal."


The 91-year-old actor and comedian who is best known for being a panelist on various versions of “To Tell The Truth”, also appeared in "Superstore" and "The Equalizer 2" in 2018. Orson Bean is survived by his third wife and actress, Alley Mills.

The General Overseer of Sotitobire Miracle Center, Babatunde Alfa and six others have been remanded at the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCS) in Olokuta, after being arraigned before an Ondo State High Court sitting in Akure.

The 7 suspects arraigned before the court on six counts including felony and conspiracy to kidnap in the case of a missing one-year-old boy, all denied the allegation.

Effort of the defendants' counsel, Olusola Oke to get bail for his clients was futile as Director of Public Prosecution in the state, Grace Olowoporoku stated that he filed multiple bail applications that were difficult to respond to.

Justice Adedun Odusola adjourned the case till March 16, 2020 after the court session on Thursday February 6.

Hong Kong Airlines has been forced to fire 400 of its staff with others ordered to take unpaid leave amid the coronavirus outbreak.

The South China Morning Post reported that the airline plans to cut about 10% of its workforce.

“As uncertainty looms with the evolving nature of this global issue, weak travel demand will likely continue into the summer season and we need to take further action to stay afloat,” an airline spokesman said in an email to Reuters.

“There has never been a more challenging time in Hong Kong Airlines’ history as of now. These decisions are difficult but had to be made to keep the airline alive,” he added.


It was also revealed that remaining staff will be asked to take a minimum of two weeks unpaid leave per month, or switch to working three days a week between Feb. 17 and June 30.

Additionally, Hong Kong Airlines will reduce its daily operations to 30 from 82 sectors over Feb. 11 to March.

US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and President Donald Trump have started a new phase of post impeachment drama after Trump this week survived the Democrats attempt to impeach him.

Trump, at the National Prayer Breakfast on Thursday, which both Trump and Pelosi attended, thanked "courageous Republican politicians who had the wisdom, fortitude and strength to do what everyone knows was right."

He then made implicit references to Nancy Pelosi and Mitt Romney (the only Republican Senator who voted against Trump) as people who use their faith as an excuse to do wrong'

"I don't like people who use their faith as justification for doing what they know is wrong nor do I like people who say, 'I pray for you,' when they know that's not so. So many people have been hurt and we can't let that go on," Trump said.

"We have allies, we have enemies, sometimes the allies are enemies but we just don't know it. But we're changing all that," Trump later remarked.

Later in the White House on Thursday, while celebrating his acquittal from impeachment allegations by the US Senate, Trump slammed the impeachment process as something that should never happen to another president, saying Nancy Pelosi 'never prayed for him', contrary to her suggestions that she did. He suggested Pelosi had no dignity for tearing up his speech at the State of the Union address while apologizing to his family for letting them pass through the impeachment process.

Pelosi in response, said she didn't need a lesson on dignity from Trump, adding that she tore Trump's speech because it was filled with lies, and that she still prayed for the president.


Later Thursday after the breakfast, Pelosi adressed Trump's remark about faith as justification for doing something wrong "completely inappropriate" and "particularly without class.", saying the president's remarks at a faith gathering was completely unwarranted.

"This morning the President said when people use faith as an excuse to do ... bad things ... was just so completely inappropriate, especially at a prayer breakfast," Pelosi said at her weekly news conference.

"I don't know what the President understands about prayer or people who do pray, but we do pray for the United States of America," she said. "I pray hard for him because he's so off the track of the Constitution, our values, our country."

"He really needs our prayers, so he can say whatever he wants ... but I do pray for him and I do so sincerely and without anguish," Pelosi added.

"To go into the stock market and raising up (the newspaper) and mischaracterizing other peoples' motivation, he's talking about things he knows little about -- faith and prayer," she said.

The back and forth between the number one and number three person in the US, brings to the forefront the great polarisation and partisanship that the impeachment drama has brought to the American people as they head to the polls in November.
