An accounting student of the Lagos State University, LASU, Olowa Kehinde, was at the weekend kidnapped with others along the Warri-Benin Highway while coming back to Lagos. Speaking in an interview with Vanguard, the Public Relations Officer of the LASU Student Union Government, Adams Zaenab Olawunmi, said immediately the leadership of the union got wind of the development, necessary contacts were made with security agencies. “We got the information Saturday and we have swung into action. The incident happened somewhere along the Warri-Benin Highway while he was coming back to Lagos. We don’t know how many people were abducted. “We have been in touch with the Director of DSS, Lagos State who has also been in touch with his colleagues in the affected areas. A fresh graduate from Kogi state university has died few days after signing out of the school. The deceased identified as Fatai by his friends and colleagues, graduated from the faculty of natural science on Saturday fews days ago, before his sudden death. The young man reportedly died on his way back from the burial ceremony of his friend’s mom at Ankpa yesterday, February, 12. His friends and colleagues took to their KSU Facebook group to mourn the deceased, as some of them revealed that the young man had also lost his family and siblings. This came after photo of the deceased signing out shirt was written “RIP”’ as many thought he had predicted his death, only to find out that he was only honouring some his deceased family. A Central Area Court sitting in Kasuwan Nama in Jos on Friday sentenced a 15-year-old student to six months in prison for stealing two dogs. A panel of two magistrates, Ghazali Adam and Hyacinth Dolnaan, who sentenced Ibrahim after he pleaded guilty to the offence, however, gave him an option to pay a fine of N20,000 or spend three months in prison. The magistrates also ordered the convict to pay N50,000 in damages and in default to spend another three months in prison. They said that the judgment would serve as a deterrent to those who would want to indulge in such criminal act. Earlier, the prosecution counsel, Ibrahim Gokwat, told the court that the case was reported at the Angwan Rogo Police Station on January 21, by Hamisu Idris of Angwan Rogo Jos, who was the complainant. Gokwat said that the convict conspired with Alias Khalifa, now at large and stole the complainant’s dogs worth N50,000. A social media user has taken to the Twitter platform to express shock over photos which captured the alleged state of a hostel at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, UNN. The man identified as @Imudia_se2 on the platform reported that the hostel is for male students of the institution, and wondered how the management would abandon the facility till it got to that stage.
