IR5 is immediate relative and is currently taking about 1 year after DQ for interview letter in Nigeria. Topie222: |
You're unlikely to get the visa o but you can try anyways. And to answer your last question, a refusal of a student visa has no effect on your immigrant case. As long as the information you provide is the same. Eg don't say you're married for student visa and then say you're not married for your IV. Cutie1973: |
The list of documents you need should be on the portal. Why do you need other people to tell you what to submit? Login to your account and follow the instructions. If you need clarity on certain things like what type of birth certificate is accepted for Nigerians, then you can ask here. But why ask people to give you a list. If I give you a list from 2017 and it has changed nko? jibbson365: |
Tourist or residency? Godson213: |
For you to get to the embassy stage, you would have gone through NVC and you would definitely have submitted an affidavit of support from the sponsor or a co-sponsor. It is therefore surprising that you're asking this question. Sisib15: |
NVC will give you a list of documents they need from you. It's really up to you how things go. Be meticulous and prepared and they'll probably accept all your documents in one round. If you do like many Nigerians and upload poorly scanned documents or the wrong documents etc, then you'll have problems and they'll keep asking you to resubmit something or the other. Tekzyflex: |
Last queue how? Your PD is your PD and your DQ is your DQ. ILs are scheduled according according to your DQ if you're current. Of course, you need to get a resident permit for the country you're transferring to. Options include sierra Leone, Ivory coast, Cameroon. You have to be single for F11. That includes divorced and widowed individuals. Codemine: |
And yes, if you want to still pursue your F11, you'd have to abort the mission of going to the UK as a married couple. Honestly, being so close, you should think of how to get your green card quickly. Again, a transfer to say Cameroon is a good idea. You're sure to get an interview letter this year especially when the new USCIS fiscal year starts. Versus waiting forever for Lagos. Process UK for your spouse alone. You focus on getting your visa, travel to the US, get your physical GC. Then fly to the UK, get married legalky there, return to the US, file for your husband. If you live on the east coast eg NYC, you can easily visit the UK - it's 6 hrs. If you get a flexible or remote job, you can spend extended periods in the UK with your spouse. Just remember you have to maintain your GC by not being out of the US for longer than 6 months and having ties to the US eg bank account, credit cards etc. Arm yourself with information and it becomes so easy. These are things that I actually know that people have done. Codemine: |
This is quite confusing. Do you have a real marriage certificate or not? What did your contact at the registry do for you? Was it a fake certificate? It is not solely about whether you have used the certificate publicly or not, it is about what is on file. It also matters if you have used it publicly as in if you have submitted your UK visa application as UK and US share visa applicants information. Your first step is to ask this contact what exactly he/she did. What I know is that the embassy carries out investigations sometimes and if there's any suspicion around your case (especially if you're a pregnant female in the F11 category), then they will request for verification from the courts if you're on record as being married or not. I've told you the best thing to do. Clarify with your contact if your certificate is valid. If not, you should be fine. If it's real, your best option would be to get a divorce. Your case is so close so you'd better make up your mind on time. Codemine: |
Go through the studies route but to Canada! If you go to the US, even after graduation, unless you marry a citizen/LPR, you'll still have problems getting your papers. The H1B is not easy to get. Canada is still close to your sibling(s). Peacelois: |
Na wa for you. You were really close then boom you did something like this without asking for advice beforehand. Many people in the F1 category have gotten married without getting married. You could have done a traditional without public pictures, you could have done a church blessing without court wedding. You could have done parental blessings. So many options. You could also have changed your interview location to any of the other African countries or even the UK after getting there as a student. Anyways, as it is, don't try lying. In 90% of cases, they find out. I know someone who actually got the visa but the officer somehow knew at the port of entry. He was let in but had to report within 3 days to immigration. I don't know how he resolved it. Your options are either to wait it out in F3 category or get a legal divorce (of course you'll remain married to your spouse in spirit and in truth lol). A person can return from F3 to F1 in the event of a divorce or being widowed. You were so so so close. All you had to do was ask questions!!!!! Codemine: |
Many people have their reasons for studying at branch campuses. There are many people who go from USA, Canada to branch campuses because tuition is usually cheaper. Yes, for a Nigerian who is chasing residency in the West through a student visa, by all means stick to US and Canada schools. But if that doesn't work out, try other schools in places such as Singapore, China etc For someone who needs a degree for promotion on the job and is not chasing relocation and work study opportunities and who would otherwise pay grad tuition anyways, going to NYU Abu Dhabi vs NYU NYC would be more cost effective because at the end of the day, he gets the same degree. Actually you'd be more competitive in the global job market with a degree from NYU AD than with a degree from a farflung corner university in the boonies of Australia or the UK. My first sentence was because your dismissal of a masters in the UAE lacked nuance and can affect an uninformed person's decision-making. You might not believe me but I schooled in the US up to the doctorate level, I have worked internationally and at many stages I've had colleagues with a BS from Africa, MS from UAE or Oman or Qatar or Singapore or South Africa etc and sometimes an additional degree eg PhD from the US or Canada. They have good jobs and are valued for what they do and what they know. My former dentist in DC went to dental school in the UAE and practices in the US. The sister of my US born realtor went to Pakistan for med sch and returned to the US to write her boards. Their parents migrated from PK. She did it to avoid student loans in the US. So yeah the world is far more connected than you think and if opportunities arise outside of the US/Canada, people should consider it. seyisanya: |
This is an ignorant utterance. There are American, British, Australian and Canadian universities in the UAE and you get a degree that is the exact same as if you had studied on their main campus. NYU and RIT are two of the US ones. Even the UAE local universities are well-known and accepted in the Middle East. seyisanya: |
Your email will be to NVC not the embassy. Go to the Inquiry page on NVC website and submit the mail requesting a change from F11 to IR2 as you should have been locked in. Sisib15: |
IR2 should have been locked in with the CSPA. F2B does not get locked in. Sometimes the embassy makes that IR2 to F11 mistake and you have to push back. It's a quite common scenario and sending an email to NVC usually resolves it. Oh well, since you now have an interview date, all is well. Sisib15: |
Priority date 2019 for F11 and you have an interview date at the embassy? Did you expedite? Sisib15: |
If you've been invited for an interview, then the embassy will let you know the documents you need. Follow the instructions from the embassy. F11 is not difficult. It's based on the relationship with your parent and you don't have to do much to prove it's genuine unlike marriage category. What's your priority date and DQ date? Nigerian embassy? Sisib15: |
Congratulations! Try your best to get DQ as soon as you can because it impacts how soon you can get IL after your DQ becomes current. You don't need to upload all those educational certificates. Police character from any state will be accepted. Also NPC attestation will be accepted. Start getting your affidavit of support documents if you haven't already. Cutie1973: |
Your PD is current for filing but not for final action which means a visa is not yet available for you. F1 is current for Dec 2014 or earlier. Note that on the visa bulletin, dates for filing is different from final action date. However, you should be getting a letter from NVC anytime now so that you can get DQ in readiness for when your PD becomes current. Actually, you should have received it by now so just reach out to NVC and ask them. Contact them using the inquiry form. Cutie1973: |
Exactly. Many Nigerians fail to integrate into the society they find themselves in. And people should travel abeg especially with cheap Wizz and Ryanair flights from the UK, fly to sunny Ibiza for £20 if you're that bored and lonely. Stay in a hostel, make friends. JeffreyJunior: |
You're current which is great. The problem is with the US embassy in Nigeria. They're backlogged. You were DQ in Feb 2021 but even those DQ in April 2020 for your category are still waiting for an interview. The only way to hasten your interview is to transfer your case to another country if you have the ability to do so. There are Facebook and Whatsapp groups where you'll find information on transferring. torrentfinder1: |
The country only makes it faster after your PD becomes current AND you are DQ. If you're not current, you're not current despite the country. F3 is current for <=22NOV08. If your wife was unmarried, she would have been 6 years ahead as F1 is currently <=01DEC14 iyke109: |
Interview call-up is solely dependent on the embassy. How does an illegal processing in the US affect interview dates in Lagos. Are consulates also working on illegals There are many issues at play chiefly personnel reduction at USCIS and NVC. During Trump's administration, there were huge staffing cuts which was deliberately done to delay immigration processes. After that, during Covid, many retired. The process for training new recruits is a long one. Plus, in recent times, many people that crossed the Mexican border illegally have opted to go directly to Canada which is why Canada and the US recently closed the popular Roxham Rd border crossing. No matter how many conspiracy theories are thrown about, it takes a loooooon time to go through the asylum process in the US. And the US has been sending many people that crossed illegally back - Venezuelans, Cubans, Haitians etc. Amigo101: |
Canadians seeking asylum in the US 😂😂. Dude, you read about illegal immigrants in the US seeking asylum in the US by going through Roxham Rd. Okay, you're not a troll, you're just ignorant. aestake: |
Ignore that person, he's being a troll. Yes, your PD is current so there's a visa available for you whenever your consulate is ready to schedule you. When is your DQ date? What consulate? Lagos? internationalman: |
Send a message to gistlover on IG with evidence. He/she will drag your boss sotay your boss will give you raise in arrears. |
Abort mission. It's even faster for you to file for your parent and have that parent file for your sibling. The category would depend on your sibling's age. Better still, just sponsor your sibling to Canada jejely. bivoprad: |
He was obviously expecting a bigger reward. In his mind, maybe like 500k. But does he know if the sender of the money is actually the owner of the money? Nigerians feel entitled to so much from other people. He should have kept the money so that they should have used police to arrest him. He would have spent more than 50k defending himself. |
Here's an email I received in response to my email about not being able to apply as a Nigerian after purchasing an Emirates ticket
