It's a sorry state of affairs. The downward trend of the naira means moving abroad is becoming something only those with deep pockets can afford. Unfortunately, nothing suggest things will change for the better anytime soon.

Think hard and be flexible bro. And sooner or later, you'll move. Staying in Nigeria, I'm afraid, is no longer viable.

Biko, easy with your lies, Nigeria isn’t that bad for egg roll to be sold for #600 undecided

I bought egg roll and sprite on Thursday here.

Egg roll is #350 in my area, then sprite is #300.

Is it by road side sellers or a fast food chain?

Could remember when it's sold 150 by shops in Kaduna, fast food, I mean chicken republic is 250.
Food / Re: How Much Is The Price Of Egg Roll In Your Area ? by Limassol(m): 4:56pm On Feb 26
250 normal road side sellers.

In established fast food chains ,the last time I bought one there was 250, might have doubled now.

Politics / Lack of population data is an existential problem no one is taking about. by Limassol(m): 7:29am On Feb 25
Below is a satellite imagery of a part of the neighborhood i live in Kaduna state called Trikania.

I was having this random thoughts yesterday and a thought pops up in my head about all the little to midsize American and European towns and villages I do read about on Wikipedia with all their accompanying reliable data and all.

I thought, how about my area, ok a part of it, just a handful of streets, do I know how many people live here?

So I did a quick mental calculation and counting (it's a place I know for long) and boy, I was surprised at my findings, though not exact I believe it's not far from the accurate figures.

What alarms me is In just 6 streets ( the arrows shows the exact six streets) - each street has on average 120 houses, each house has one or more households depending on variables. 120 houses × 6 streets =720 houses.

On average you've got 6 person per house that's 6 ×720 = 4320 PERSON'S.

A mammoth population of 4320 in just SIX streets!

The lack of DATA for this population is where the trouble is. Nobody knows for example:

•the number of unemployed adults living in this area
• How many foreign nationals are living there
• Population structure of the area
• Average income per household
• level of Educational attainment per person

And lot's more of crucial data only God in heaven knows.

What sort of country is this? A country that knows extremely little about its people ( NIN and other nonsense says little) cannot govern effectively.

Edit: it seems I'm having trouble uploading the satellite image, anyone knows how I can get around this issue?

Rephrase your question
He is eligible to go for NYSC service if he graduates at 28.
NYSC discharge certificate is given upon completion of your service year at the passing out parade ceremony.
However, if he graduates above 30, he will be given an NYSC exemption certificate(he won't go for NYSC service/posting).

Thanks alot

What of those that graduated at 29 , can they still serve and be given their discharge certificate at the end?

Search the internet and mostly focus on websites thet end with .edu or .gov

As to your question, let me give you my non-expert answer - both are nutritious. It's like saying a banana or orange which is more nutrient-dense, the answer is every fruit has its own "unique mix of nutrients". You can't go wrong with eating fruits no matter the type.

Family / Re: I Want To Adopt A Child As A Single Man by Limassol(m): 3:08pm On Jan 03
tasalanoni:
Nl folks, pls your opinions are needed.
I'm currently 31, earning reasonably well and with greater prospects for the future.

The pressure to settle down is getting stronger by the day. However, I don't consider myself psychically fit for marriage in the midst of the deterioration that the marriage Institution is experiencing.

Judging by my current perspective and disposition on the subject of marriage, I don't see myself setting down even in the next 5years. I try to carefully look at the pros and cons of contracting a marriage in today's world and I always come to the conclusion that there are more cons than pros.

I'm also not a very family oriented person in the sense of creating familial bonds and deeply cherishing them hence I derive my fulfillment and pleasure in doing the things I love to do, acquiring wealth and giving help wherever I deem necessary.

The thought of opting for an adoption is beginning to occupy the greater part of my consciousness and the reasons are few and in my opinion very valid.

1. Progeny is very important in social arrangements especially in the Igbo society. I'll definitely be needing someone to carry on the family's name and legacy when I'm no more.

2. If my perspective on marriage changes for any reason and I decide to take the step towards contracting one, I may have become a little too old then to handle the perculiates of marriage and family life( parenting, school runs issues etc). But with a child already in picture and almost a teenager by then, that part of the problem would have been kicked out..

Nb:As for raising the adopted child, myself, parents, siblings and a helper will be involved while financial responsibility will be exclusively mine.

Kindly help me with insightful and mature advice that is based on direct or third party experience.

Leave all the fast food and try proper restaurants , more expensive though . Was in vina Del Mar , found Chile almost as expensive as usa or Europe , maybe where I stayed . All the best on your journey . Will definitely revisit when I do a South American tour in future

Is that fish salmon? If it is then ,I wouldn't be surprise - Chile is one of the largest producer of that kind of fish together with Norway and Scotland.

To the op saying he missed Nigerian food. I understand. But why happens to being open-minded enough to try out variety of Chilean cuisines out there, you may be surprise how pleasant it will be.

And with the abundant of seafood and fresh produce there , plus some great culinary skills you can always make your tasty dishes yourself. And if you feel stuck YouTube is always there to help you out.

Wish you good luck.

Just say you want to reduce your age. Go get a birth certificate and submit it to the school where you did your first degree so it will not affect your transcript. I think WAEC has stopped correcting DoB, so if it’s NECO you’re using, then you’re safe. Also, NIN DoB can be corrected but you have to pay and wait for a really long time

Crime / Re: How I Was Falsely Accused Of Stealing A Guy's Genitals Yesterday by Limassol(m): 8:06am On Nov 12, 2023
Kalatium:
No sooner was I on my way leaving the market, after buying all what I need and ticking all the items on my list than a stranger came out of the blue to accuse me of stealing his penis.

I won't say the state this happened.

At first I didn't clearly understood what he meant because he initially said, I should return what left his body.

What looked like a funny claim in my ear turned serious as he started shouting and calling the attention of passers by. People started encircling us and the guy who accused me said we are going to police station, I was like why will I follow you to station when I didn't do anything wrong.

One of the passers by said I should just follow him if I know I am truly Innocent since the station is not far. I had no choice that to follow them to prove my innocence ( the accuser and the passer-by) with many thoughts on my mind.
On our way I resolved to call all the important people I know that can get me out of this mess. I first dialed my dad's number and started explaining what was going on before the guy said I should cut the call that we must go to that station or else he will collect my phone.

Eventually we arrived there, and met two police men inside the station compound, then my accuser started laying claim of his stolen manhood story. I was called to narrate what happened and I told them I just left the market gate after purchasing all I needed from the market only to be falsely accused.

The two officer took us inside the station to write a statement. After the accuser narrated his story once more, one of the officer was laughing.
The police asked what I do for a living and I told him I am a medical Doctor and the hospital I work. He asked the accuser same question who said he is a university student and doesn't stay far from the market. He asked of both our phone numbers and also gave out his number to us. Then he asked the accuser to put his hand in his trouser to confirm if his manhood is there, the guy touched and the manhood was there.

He then started saying that initially he didn't feel anything there that there have been cases like that in his school and that he was shocked that the thing happened to him that's why he dragged the case to the station.

The police then said that he has been hearing about this stealing of manhood and that people can do diabolical things for money. However, it could also be that his mind might be playing tricks on him as such he felt his penis might be missing when it actuality it is actually there.

The police man said I should go that since the guy has confirmed his penis is intact, there is no case. He said I shouldn't be annoyed that if I were in the guy's shoes I might as well do the same . He also said that it could be that it actually happened but me being there at the wrong time and being there when he felt such that he will easily take the person close by as the culprit. I felt relieved but at the same time angry for been falsely accused and my time wasted for something as dumb as this.

When we were going outside the station, the guy who falsely accused me was dragging his foot and kept working very slow such that I was at a far distance in the front. The passer-by that followed us early was apologizing to me, that I shouldn't be angry.

Damn, I was just feeling different emotions. However, I thank God nothing happened to me ( I wasn't hurt and no mob action or jungle justice), nothing was missing and I came back home safe and fine.

My dad who is in another state got worried when I called earlier. If something had happened to me that guy will have had the worst day of his life. The kind of people that will have come for him eh.

There were 2 things on my mind. It's either that guy did it intentionally to put me in trouble or he is delusional ( superstitious) and/or actually suffering from Koro syndrome.

Help move this to Fp so everyone can be aware of this.

When I read the title of this story the first thing that came to my mind was jungle justice - one of the most senseless act a human could do.

I knew the accusation is likely to be false and ridiculous. But good God! We've lost so many innocent souls as a result of mob justice angry angry sad

I think you were lucky ... Many in the past were not this lucky.

Most developed worlds don't do programs like NYSC which have no or little impact on the economy.
The US unemployment rate stands at 3.1%, what the government does majorly is provide grants and create entrepreneurship institutions like Silicon Valley. Elon Musk got a grant from the government to start Space X, Meta, Google, and Microsoft are all products of Silicon Valley.
Which notable entrepreneur(s) has NYSC produced that has helped to solve the country's problem None undecided
Nigeria's unemployment rate stands at 53% among the youth and 90% of Nigerian graduates go to NYSC programs. The funniest thing is that it's not the US government that is creating the employment directly, the employment is being created by those who went through the grants & funding series, and Silicon Valley.
My opinions are
1 NYSC should be replaced with compulsory 6 months of entrepreneurship programs in major areas of the economy.
2
Every successful candidate should be given a noninterest loan of 5M each to start a venture.
3
Candidates who failed the programs should go for mandatory skill acquisition for 6 months. The government should give them the necessary equipment they need for their trade and a 1M noninterest loan. (e. g. , a trained fashion designer should be provided with a sewing machine, a weepy machine, and a 1M loan)

I Painfully Asked Her 'You when be Thick IJAW Girl dey Speak English to your daughter?'.
She now Replied 'I want my Daughter to Sabi Speak Correct English o.
For their School, Any Wrong English, Dem go FLOG you'.

I was WEAK Instantly!

See how PRIVATE Schools are Unknowingly DESTROYING and OBLITERATING our Local Languages in Nigeria!😒

By 2040,2050, ALL NIGERIAN LANGUAGES will go EXTINCT, plus the ever Popular Yoruba Language.

Now, Every Nigerian PARENTS is Teaching their Children 'Correct English'
Because they wants to IMPRESS the Schools their Children Attend.🙁

PRIVATE Schools too, Put Pressure on Children to speak 'Correct English' and even Phonetics to IMPRESS PARENTS!

TWO GROUPS Trying to Impress Eachother, to the Detriment of our LOCAL LANGUAGES. sad

So I ask, IS THIS TREND GOOD THING?

IS THERE ANY BENEFITS IN BECOMING EXPERT ENGLISH SPEAKERS,
WHILE ABANDONING OUR NATIVE LANGUAGES? 🤔🤨

I'm a primary school teacher in Kaduna state. My school is located in a predominantly Hausa speaking area, thus almost all the pupils are Hausa natives and speak it as their first language even in the classroom.

As a teacher I took a stand against that - no Hausa speaking in class, violation incurs a penalty. As such, the pupils are always trying to speak and improve their English. And I think that's a good thing.

That is not to say i consider Hausa language inferior to English, not really. But I believe as school kids, them getting a basic grasp of our sole national language is paramount and highly desirable.

So, IMHO, a little bit of pressure on them to get a good handle of English serves a useful purpose - that doesn't translate/ have anything to do with the misperception that our indigenous languages are somehow inferior.
