African's are always behind the curve. All those years ago the 'whites' were viewed as stingy or irresponsible for having just a single child, a couple or just the number to fit in a 'family car'.

Guess no one is snobbish but sober now. That the world is full of uncertainty and no position is safe enough to risk unmitigated liability. And that even all the resources are present today, the complexities of the world makes the average traveller aspire to journey 'light'.

Quality will always trump quantity.
But "quality" does not always necessarily mean few, i think you need to understand this. Solid 5 may trump 1 or 2. In the case of having kids it largely comes down to the million dollar question; Can one afford it?

Like you aren't living in Nigeria.

There are many graduate out there with good education but no job
With an unemployment rate of 33%, opportunities are scarce. This is why i emphasized on "afford". The elites are sending their kids abroad for greener pastures in droves. Plus their parents invested well to ensure they acquire good education and relevant I.T skills, thereby making them highly sought after wherever they go. Poor people can't afford this. This phenomenon is observed in many countries across the world.

There is everything wrong with giving birth to much children.

It is not good financially, emotionally and health wise on both couple.

If the bread winner dies, that is the beginning of suffering especially if no savings were left by the dead man.
This largely depends on what you mean by "much" - 2,3,4,5? whatever the case, bringing a child to this world is expensive as many are realising. And more importantly, there is little reason, if any, to suggest one shouldn't have "much" children as far as they can afford it. However, there is little evidence to conclude that people with "much" children are less happier than those with less.

Guy, I once worked in a place where one of my clients had 7 kids and all 7 were attending private schools, from university to the secondary school. Babcock Uni, Covenant The kids were well behaved and responsible and the man was meeting up with his responsibilities.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with having many children as long as you can meet up with the financial responsibilities.

Apparently your parents cannot, so it has become a problem to you, your siblings and them. Give birth according to your capacity. The person I work for has just two kids even though he has the capacity to have up to five, but he said he wants to give them the very best quality of life so he stopped at two. Your parents should have stopped waaaaaaay before the eight child popped out undecided
Just a thought; For a mid-class quality of life couples who earn less than 500k should stick to one child and due to economies of scale,100k for every subsesequent child, your take?

Rich people aren't also allowed to have kids indiscriminately. The carbon footprint won't reduce If rich people have plenty kids. People should reason before they do things cry cry
Carbon footprint has more to do with the choices people make(e.g whether they use renewable sources of electricity, cleaner meaner of transportation such as adopting EV cars , adopting a plant-based diet and so on) than the number of children they have. To make my point clearer, African countries combined contribute less than a tenth of global warming despite their mammoth and burgeoning population, while the US with a quarter of that population generate far higher.

I just finished eating rice / beans with banga soup. Enough balanced diet.

Rice= carbohydrate.
Beans/Fish = Protein.
Curry leave & pumkin leave = Vitamin.
Banga soup= fat and oil
Salt= mineral.
Water=water.
Good. If only you added some serving of fruits, say, a mid-size orange and 3 slice of banana as a desert, that would have been near-impressive.

Ratio your diet, its actually cheap if you know a thing or two about th role of hormones in satiation .
For example, you can do small tofu, plenty veggies & kpomo or beef, now fufu has a low GI index in the family of complex carbs, triggers leptin & keeps you full without the cravings, or you can do eggs and tomatoes sauce or you can do meat cooked in natural spices like turmeric, ginger, black pepper et al. You get ? Eating a balance meal is really easy just choose what works for you & stick to it, plus you can always so Omad or 2mad. Ps: no be everything you must chop. Some food(s) r not particularly good for your health like junks, refined carbs,sugar,soy,wheat & its derivatives e.g bread,kpof kpof. When the food you eat doesn't makes you feel better it eventually makes you sick.gbam
Fufu is derived from cassava - a starchy vegetable, which is typically high in the glycemic index.

My preference was Prof Yemi Osinbajo and his message of hope last night reinforced my faith in what is possible in Nigeria.

Someone gave Prof Osinbajo the political platform to showcase his depth. That person is Bola Tinubu who was never my type of politician.

In choosing between Atiku, Tinubu and Obi, I will go for Tinubu. His records show clearly that he has vision and he assembles great team of technocrats without necessarily leaving the less cerebral behind. Politics is all about numbers, built on a structure of alliances and trust, and he fully understands it.

That's how I am consoling myself with opened eyes, not emotion.
Preferences are one thing, reality is another. Despite what was said prior to the primaries, the odds clearly favoured Tinubu, i saw it coming. And do i need to tell you that he will defeat Atiku come next year election?

Why not both? Build a poultry and use the eggs for your bakery. Think about it. You can later expand to include cows and goats; now you can have eggs, cheese, butter and magarine for your bakery. Saves you a ton of money and also increases your revenue. Good luck.
Cheese, Butter and eggs, in a typical Nigerian bakery product? highly unlikely. This is an abroad stuff and hardly applies here. However, reasons as to why is a topic for another day.

How can you kill a crocodile and proudly show the public. cheesy cheesy

It depends on what constitute and how one defines "threat". However, in this case, the animal is clearly a threat, left unchecked it may do harm than good. I doubt if the same could be said if it were a stray cat, rabbit, tortoise, dog, e.t.c In as much as i care about animal rights and the enviroment, there are limitations to it.

It saddens me that Calabar has been without electricity for over 1 month and Osinbajo visited the state and never commented on the electricity problems of the state, as an incumbent Vice President and Presidential aspirant. Infact things are more costly in naija compared to the west sef,cos I doubt $10 can feed someone for a day I Nigeria now [/quote] The reason the goverment dosen't seem to care is because most civil servants earn jumbo pays and live in estates and GRAs, hence they are oblivious to the predicaments of the common man. Ordinary Nigerians on the other hand are deeply divided along ethnic and religious lines to unite for a common cause, not to mention severe poverty and the fact many are constitutionally ignorant. Nigerians are likely to gullibly vote an unfit president next year and the bumpy continues for another 8 Years.

Are you saying other kids are not raised responsibly?
I mean kids in Mikel, Ronaldo, Techno, Patoranking etc kind of union.

Moreover, is it every kids in marriage that are responsible?
Let me be clear with you on this, you may choose to belive what you like but, marriage has alot of benefits and advantages, and few, if at all, downsides. Infact research suggest married people on average tend to be happier and live longer than the unmarried. However, you tend to be, as it seems, not to be a fan a fan of it, and that's fine and totally acceptable, as marriage itself ain't for everyone (and it dosen't determine ones moral compass). No one should be pressured about it since as with almost everything in life its a matter of choice. Besides, With marriage comes finacial obligation and other responsibilities .

Hmm

A lot of people don't know, but maintaining six pack post marriage is hard work

You have to work dobule time once the kids come along. As seen in the comments below.

Yes,make time..but some jobs don't allow you make time.

And preparing healthy food takes time too. Time one does not have when you come home at 7pm some nights..
These are all covenient excuses meant to console the overweight and obese. In truth, eating healthy and excercising are doable and actionable goals if one makes them a priority. Intent is key. No matter how busy you are in 24 HRS, its possible to set aside 10 - 15 MINS to excercise ones body, it ain't that hard,the benefits are massive . Also, limiting junk and calorie-densed food dosent cost much time, money, nor effort, instead of that bottle of coke take a fruit instead, also swap fried foods for decent meals filled with whole grains, legumes and fish. Like the saying goes "if there is a will there is a way".
