Vice President Yemi Osinbajo disclosed this Thursday shortly before the commencement of the National Economic Council (NEC). Mr. Buhari travelled to London on a 10-day medical vacation, to be examined by an Ear Nose and Throat specialist for ear infection. He traveled on June 6. Mr. Osinbajo however said the president will take the weekend off and resume on Monday. “The president will be back on Sunday. I spoke with him yesterday evening and I think it is just the best that he takes the weekend off. He will certainly be back on Sunday. “I think the most straightforward thing is when he will be back. There is no point rushing back on Friday or something like that. “He will just take the weekend off and be back on Sunday. “He is in perfect health and ready to resume work on Monday morning. “Mr. President is in good condition, he is fine, he is very well. He should take a day or two off in London and rest a bit and come back hale and hearty on Sunday and be ready for work on Monday. “So we expect him back on Sunday,” Mr. Osinbajo told journalists. http://.com/buhari-returns-to-nigeria-sunday-vp-osinbajo-says/

NIGERIA'S anti-graph commission, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) yesterday invited the controversial National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP), Ali Modu Sheriff, to appear before it for interaction on the N450 million allocated to Borno State from the N23.29 billion campaign funds facilitated by ex-Minister of Petroleum Resources Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke. The EFCC is probing how Sheriff allegedly received about N40 million from the cash allocated to the state. The N40 million was allegedly given to “Mohammed Kumalia for onward transmission to Sheriff.” According to a source, the anti-graft commission asked Sheriff to report at its Maiduguri office today. The source said: “A former governor of Borno State, Ali Modu Sheriff, will come to the office tomorrow (today)for questioning as a result of his involvement in the Diezani fraud during the last general election. “We are looking into how N40 million out of the N450million allocated to Borno State was allegedly given to Sheriff for security purpose. “If Sheriff gets to our office, he will be able to confirm whether he received such amount. We have done our preliminary findings and isolated questions for Sheriff to answer. “We have also extended an invitation to the former governor. We are hopeful that he will honour our invitation.” The source added: “We grilled a former Minister of Power, Mohammed Wakil, who was the PDP campaign coordinator for Borno State.” The source said during the EFCC’s intial investigation and grilling of Wakil on June 6, he admitted the receipt of the N450 million. ”I received a call from Mrs. Nenadi Usman, a former Minister of Finance, that N450 million was sent to Fidelity Bank and a template for how the disbursement of the funds will be conducted, “the EFCC quoted him as saying. The source added: “Wakil added that he collected the money and shared it as follows: “Nicholas Msheliya, Peter Biye, Hon. Kudla Satumaria, Hon. Ibrahim Birma – all from southern Borno – received N112, 340,000. Hon. Kangar, through Dr. Kulima A.A., received N88, 620,000 and Mohammad Baba Kachalla (an engineer), Hon. Kaamuna Khadi, Hon. Zarma Mustapha and Hon. Abdulrahman Tarab received N140,860,000. ”Similarly, N40 million was allegedly given to Hon. Kumalia for onward transmission to Sen. Ali Modu Sheriff for security.” http://.com/efcc-invites-modu-sheriff-over-n23billion-diezani-campaign-fund/

A coalition of youth groups within the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has given leaders of the party seven days to resolve all pending issues relating to the ongoing crisis in the party or they would takeover. Briefing journalists at the end of their meeting Tuesday, at the Wadata Plaza National Secretariat of the party, the chairman of the group, Aderemi Olusegun, said they were saddened by the “unabated internal wrangling” besetting the party. He said as concerned youth, they found it necessary to come together to take a firm position in the interest of PDP members nationwide. Mr. Aderemi said the youth had waited enough for the party’s leaders since the Port Harcourt convention to amicably resolve the lingering problem of leadership. “We are giving the leadership of the party (which includes the BOT, Governors’ Forum, warring groups and other stakeholders) a 7-day ultimatum to resolve this intractable but avoidable rancour. “However, if this is not resolved, we shall be compelled to mobilize all concerned youths nationwide to take over the affairs of the party, as we have started putting in place an effective structure to take over the party secretariat,” he said. Mr. Aderemi said the PDP as a party is bigger than individuals and groups, adding that they youth had resolved to “henceforth not tolerate anyone to take the party for a ride”. “We are therefore demanding the immediate withdrawal of all pending litigations in the court of law, so that we can amicably resolve all issues,” he said. The PDP youth also said it was sad for the leaders of the party not to consider the effect of their actions on the forthcoming governorship elections in Edo and Ondo States, which, they said, were likely to affect the fortune of the party. “Our party members world over are seriously disillusioned and unhappy. “We have therefore constituted an 11-man committee to liaise with all the parties concerned and stakeholders so as a matter of urgency resolve all disagreements in our party. “We shall be making further demands known to all the stakeholders in order to reposition our party as a viable alternative for all Nigerians,” the youth said. The PDP has been embroiled in crisis since May 21 when different factions emerged at two simultaneous national conventions in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, and Abuja. The party’s national chairman, Ali Sheriff, had announced the cancellation of the Port Harcourt convention citing court orders. However, PDP governors and the BoT, went ahead to carry out the convention and announced the sack of Mr. Sheriff and all members of his working committee. The convention also announced the composition of a caretaker committee to be headed by former governor of Kaduna state, Ahmed Makarfi. At the Abuja convention, former deputy Senate President, Ibrahim Mantu, was announced the new chairman of the party. The BoT and the Mantu group eventually recognized the leadership of Mr.Makarfi, but, Mr. Sheriff insists he remains the chairman of the party. While Mr. Makarfi formally resumed duties last week, Mr. Sheriff on Monday led hundreds of his supporters and invaded the national secretariat of the party saying a court in Lagos had already confirmed him as chairman until 2018. http://.com/pdp-youths-threaten-takeover-of-party-within-7-days/

Jonathan Denies Buying $15M Property In United Kingdom NIGERIA'S Immediate-past President Goodluck Jonathan has denied owning a £15m property in the United Kingdom, which a former Editor of the UK SUN, Kelvin Mackenzie, had credited to the Nigerian leader in his weekly column on Saturday that Jonathan had bought a property in Surrey. The former editor, who tried to play pun on Jonathan's name, said in the write-up, “I hear the aptly named Goodluck Jonathan, the former President of oil-rich Nigeria, has bought a 12,000 square foot house on the ultra-expensive and well protected St George’s Hill estate in Weybridge, Surrey. “I’m sure he gained his wealth legitimately but these houses are £10-£15million a pop, so, perhaps the ex-President could explain where his money came from as he has been at the forefront of the fight against his country’s corruption. Surely, it can’t all have been good luck.” In his reaction, Jonathan, through his media aide, Mr. Ikechukwu Eze, denied the report and demanded a retraction from the newspaper. A statement put out by the Nigerian immediate president read in part, “Nothing could be further from the truth. Dr. Goodluck Jonathan takes pride in the fact that he does not have any property or accounts outside Nigeria. He stated this publicly while in office and his commitment to Nigeria’s economy remains total even after he left power. “As the Nigerian President who signed the Freedom of Information bill into law, Dr. Jonathan is well aware that the United Kingdom is a nation with good record keeping at county and national levels and as such, it will not take a serious and responsible media long to verify ownership of property before rushing to the press with potentially libellous publications. “It is hoped that this publication will correct its error and do a retraction and that other media will likewise follow up on this story to put the lie to the details it contains.” http://.com/jonathan-denies-buying-15m-property-in-united-kingdom/

THE outgone National Executive Committee and Board of Trustees of the Peoples Democratic Party on Tuesday formally handed over power to the Interim NEC of the party in Abuja. The Interim NEC is headed by a former Governor of Kaduna State, Senator Ahmed Makarfi. At the handing over at the party’s secretariat at Wadata Plaza, Abuja, the former Deputy National Chairman of the party, Uche Secondus, said: “The party is one and is strong. “On behalf of members of the former National Working Committee of the PDP, I am here to handover to the Caretaker Committee Chairman. “We are ready to work with you. “We are ready to cooperate with you.” Secondus enjoined party leaders at all levels to go back to their localities and rebuild the party. He said all politics is local. He said it is not enough to remain in Abuja and claim to have a large following. The Chairman of the BoT, Senator Walid Jibrin, said the body did not take over the running of the affairs of the party as earlier reported. Jibrin said the BoT only held the assets and liabilities of the party in trust. He appealed to party members of the party to cooperate with the Makarfi-led Interim Caretaker Committee to enable it deliver on its mandate. http://.com/breaking-pdp-bot-nec-hand-over-party-to-makarfi/

Contrary to what the presidency dished out to Nigerians that Buhari is on a 10day vacation, and will also see an ENT Doctor, authoritative sources has confided in our medium, that the president is on another mission. We can report authoritatively, that the aim of Buhari’s visit is to negotiate with the Niger Delta Avengers in London, United Kingdom, which has been slated for the meeting, based on advice from Obasanjo and Jonathan, that the meeting should hold in a neutral venue. As a pointer to this meeting, Goodluck Jonathan, is already in London, and will be part of the discussions with the Avengers, on how to stop the further threat to oil installations in the region, with representatives of the British government funding truce to the impasse. Recollect that, Jonathan flew into Nigeria some days ago, where he met with the President in his office before jetting back to London. A day after that, Buhari met Obasanjo to seek his advice on the crisis in Niger Delta. The threat by the Niger Delta Avengers to test their missiles on June 7th has gotten the President to be jittery, and has called for truce as he fears for the critical areas of the country that would be bombed which includes the presidential villa. Findings reveal that, the Avengers are linked to two Arabian oil producing countries that are angry with the Buhari's administration for treating the Shiites as nothing and the continuous detention without trial of its leader, Zakzakky, which the Avengers are said to also have direct links to the North Korean government. “With sophisticated weapons and technology at the Avengers disposal, it is not something a serious Government should treat with levity,” quoted a source. Further findings by Secret Reporters shows that, the Avengers will arrive London today, on the invitation of the British government to be part of the peace process, under a very serious security cover. Some high profile leaders, especially in the South South are also to be part of the meeting, as negotiation begins today. Hence, the Nigerian military announced the suspension of any further military attack in the Niger Delta and withdrew the plane fighters. http://secretsreporter.com/ear-infection-scam-buhari-jets-london-secretly-negotiate-niger-delta-avengers/ Lalasticlala

HILLARY Clinton has clinched the Democratic nomination for US president after reaching the required number of delegates, an AP tally suggests. The count puts Mrs Clinton on 2,383 – the number needed to make her the presumptive nominee. She will become the first female nominee for a major US political party. But rival Bernie Sanders said Mrs Clinton had not won as she was dependent on superdelegates who could not vote until July’s party convention. Mrs Clinton reached the threshold with a big win in Puerto Rico and a burst of last-minute support from superdelegates, AP said. It has taken a long 227 years to get even this far. George Washington was elected president of a newly independent America in 1789. Forty-four men later (43 of them white) Hillary Clinton makes history today by being the first female nominee for the White House. So why don’t I feel more excited? The lack of exuberance may come from the fact that this has all been going on for so long. We’ve really been reworking a version of the “first viable female candidate for the presidency” story since 20 January 2007, the first time Hillary Clinton declared her candidacy for the White House. We’re exhausted. We’ve run out of superlatives. We’ve overused every anecdote from the former first lady, former senator, former secretary’s well-covered life. A woman president would be new, Hillary Clinton is not. At an appearance in Long Beach, California, shortly after the news broke, she said: “We are on the brink of a historic and unprecedented moment but we still have work to do. “We have six elections tomorrow and we’re gonna fight hard for every single vote, especially right here in California.” Voters will go the polls for Democratic primaries tomorrow in California, Montana, New Mexico, North Dakota, South Dakota, and New Jersey. Superdelegates, who are party insiders, can pledge their support for a candidate ahead of the convention but do not formally vote for them until the convention itself. The nominee for either party is not officially named until the parties’ respective conventions. Mr Sanders has vowed to stay in the race until the convention, and his campaign team said the Vermont senator would attempt to win back superdelegates who have pledged their support to Mrs Clinton. His spokesman Michael Briggs said it was too early to call the Democratic contest. “It is unfortunate that the media, in a rush to judgement, are ignoring the Democratic National Committee’s clear statement that it is wrong to count the votes of superdelegates before they actually vote at the convention this summer,” he said. “Our job from now until the convention is to convince those superdelegates that Bernie is by far the strongest candidate against Donald Trump.” Mrs Clinton, a former secretary of state, New York senator and first lady, leads Mr Sanders by three million votes, 291 pledged delegates and 523 superdelegates, according to AP’s count. She won 29 caucuses and primaries to his 21 victories – and an estimated 2.9 million more voters have backed her during the nominating process. That gives her a significantly greater lead over Mr Sanders than Barack Obama had over her in 2008 – he led by 131 pledged delegates and 105 superdelegates at the point he clinched the nomination. Speaking at a rally in San Francisco, Sanders promised supporters he would win in California: “As of today, we have won primaries and caucuses in twenty states across this country. “And tomorrow, in the most important primary in the whole Democratic nominating process, we’re going to win here in California.” http://.com/hillary-clinton-secures-democratic-nomination/

NIGERIA'S former Military President, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, is alive after all. Babangida is said to be in Germany and not dead as rumoured by some sections of the media. A source close to the family, who pleaded anonymity, condemned the rumour. He described it as false and inhuman. The source, who is always at the Hill Top Mansion of the General in Minna, the Niger State capital, said the former Military President is expected in Nigeria today (Monday) or tomorrow (Tuesday) from Germany where he went for treatment. He said: “I do not know where these rumours are coming from. “It is false. “This is inhuman. “We should pray for him, wish him well and not dead. “We are expecting him in Nigeria any moment from today because he has been in Germany for treatment.” However, everything seemed normal in Minna despite the fact that the rumour had gone viral. Babangida’s son, Mohammed, was spotted at the EL-AMIN International School where he picked up his children from school around 1pm on Monday. Mohammed however did not speak to the press as he seemed not to be aware of the rumour. http://.com/babangida-alive-in-germany%e2%80%8e-not-dead-family/

The Kogi State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Abuja ruled on Monday that the deputy governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in the November 21, 2015 governorship election in the state, James Falake, lacked locus standi to file petition challenging the election of the incumbent Governor Yahaya Bello. Faleke was the running mate to the APC’s original governorship candidate, the late Abubakar Audu, who was coasting to victory but died after the November 21, 2015 election was declared inconclusive by the Independent National Electoral Commission. Faleke had therefore filed his petition asking the tribunal to declare the substitution of Bello as the governorship candidate following Audu’s death in the December 6, 2015, was unlawful. He urged the tribunal to declare that the election was already conducted and concluded on November 21 before Audu’s death, and that he had already emerged as the deputy governor-elect. He therefore asked the tribunal to declare him as the valid substitute for the late Audu and should be returned as the governor-elect. But delivering its judgment on Faleke’s petition, the Justice Halima Mohammed-led three-man panel held that Faleke lacked legal right to file the petition after upholding Bello’s preliminary objection against it. The tribunal upheld the objection but decided to still go ahead to decide the petition on merit. It upheld Bello’s objection to the effect that Faleke lacked locus standi to file the petition having not been the governorship candidate upon the conclusion of the election on December 6, 2015. It held that it was clear that Faleke was not nominated by its party, the APC, but instead the party nominated Bello as Audu’s replacement. The tribunal said it lacked the jurisdiction to question internal process of the party leading to the nomination for Audu’s replacement. It held that contrary to Faleke’s contention, the election had the November 21 poll had not been concluded and thus the right to challenge the outcome of the poll had not accrued to him going by the provisions of the Electoral Act. Meanwhile, the tribunal is still considering the merit of the entire petition. http://.com/5244-2/

THE Kano State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of two persons suspected to have participated in the murder of a 75-year-old trader said to have been beheaded at Kofar Wambai market in Kano State, North West Nigeria. Addressing journalists on the issue, the Police Commissioner, Maigari Dikko, confirmed the murder and the arrests but denied earlier report that the woman was beheaded. There had been reports across the media that the 75-year-old Mrs Bridget was beheaded in Kano but the Police say Mrs Bridget was beaten to death by an angry mob who were made to believe that she blasphemed against the Prophet of Islam. In an interview with reporters, the husband of the deceased, Pastor Mike Agbahime, also confirmed that his wife was not beheaded. He stressed that she had been having misunderstanding with business neighbours over a space. Mr Mike further explained that youths forced their way into one Alhaji’s house where he and his wife were hiding, overpowered the few policemen around and killed his wife before the arrival of Police reinforcement. The Police Commissioner has said that the suspects in custody would be charge to court to answer for their crimes and that the command would continue to investigate and arrest any other person involved in the attack. http://.com/kano-killing-police-says-victim-not-beheaded/ Lalasticlala

President Muhammadu Buhari has described as sad and regrettable the developments that led to the killing of Mrs Bridget Agbahime, an Igbo market woman in Kano. President Buhari condoles with the husband of the deceased, Pastor Mike Agbahime, the family and relations, praying that God would give them the fortitude to bear the loss. He also commended the law enforcement agents for apprehending the prime suspect behind the killing, as well as the Kano State government, which summoned a meeting of Christian and Islamic leaders, widower of the deceased, and security agencies, as soon as the sad event occurred on Friday. President Buhari says justice would be done in the matter, and urges the people not to take the law into their hands. He equally charges those who may want to use the development to fan the embers of religious or ethnic hatred to remember that two wrongs never make a right, and that when law and order breaks down, those who become victims are never distinguished on the basis of religion or ethnicity. "The incident at Kofar Wambai market, Kano city, is utterly condemnable, and the state government has been quite proactive. Let us ensure that we keep the peace, as justice will be done. Let us learn to respect each other's faith, so that we can know each other and live together in peace," the President said. THE All Progressives Congress has accused the opposition Peoples Democratic Party of sponsoring the new militant group, the Niger Delta Avengers, to launch series of attacks against oil pipelines in the Niger Delta. The South South zone of the APC, in a meeting held in Benin City, Edo State, on Friday, condemned the renewed militant attacks in the region, and said the main objective of the Niger Delta Avengers was to frustrate and derail President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration. “The zone is cocksure that the nefarious and ruinous activities of the ‘Avengers’ are not driven by any patriotic and altruistic impulse,” the APC said in a communiqué issued at the end of the meeting. “We have compelling reasons to strongly assert that these activities are sponsored and instigated by the opposition PDP to derail and frustrate the APC government of President Muhammadu Buhari because of its determination to fight against corruption, stabilise and put our country on the path of sustainable development.” The communiqué, signed by the APC National Vice-Chairman South South, Hilliard Eta, and the Zonal Secretary, Steven Ezekwem, also rejected the inclusion of the Niger Delta region in the “imaginary State of Biafra”. The party, which described the inclusion as “dubious”, said, “Niger Delta is not, cannot and will never be part of Biafra.” The party commended Mr. Buhari and the APC-led national government for the courage to commence the clean-up of Ogoniland and other parts of Niger Delta. It called on the federal government to reconstitute the Board of the Niger Delta Development Commission to reflect and accommodate all the constituent states of the region, as well as carry along the party leaders from the zone in appointments into federal boards and other executive positions. http://.com/pdp-sponsoring-niger-delta-avengers-apc/ Lalasticlala

THE Oyo State House of Assembly on Thursday passed a bill banning smoking in public places in the state. The “Bill to Regulate Smoking in Public Places and for Connected Purposes”, also provides three to six months imprisonment or fine of between N15,000 and N50,000 for offenders. The bill was sponsored by Segun Ajanaku and Segun Olaleye, representing Ibadan South-West II and Ibadan North II constituencies respectively. Supporting the passage of the bill, the Chairman of the assembly’s Committee on Health, Silas Okunola, said the bill was necessary for regulating smoking in designated places, including shopping centres, restaurants, public toilets and cinemas. Other areas covered by the proposed law are hospitals, creches, schools and public transportation vehicles within the state. Specifically, the bill stipulates fine of N15,000 or three month imprisonment or both for first time offenders, while any person guilty of repeated act would be liable to a N50,000 fine or six months imprisonment or both. It also stipulates that any person found guilty of smoking in the presence of a child in a manner that exposes smoke to be injurious to the child, would be liable to a month imprisonment with an option of N15,000 fine or both. The bill states that any person who repeatedly violates the provision of not smoking in the presence of a child will be liable to one year imprisonment with an option of not less than N100,000 fine or both. It makes it compulsory for any person involved with the management of a public place to put a ‘No-Smoking’ sign in conspicuous areas. It states that refusal to place the sign or symbol by a corporate body, director, manager, company secretary or any person concerned in the management of the corporate body will be liable to N250,000 fine upon conviction. According to the provisions of the bill, any person found guilty of not putting up a ‘No-Smoking’ sign would be liable to six months imprisonment or N100,000 or other non-custodial punishment that the court may deem fit. In another development, the lawmakers called on relevant government agencies and departments to investigate the incidence of earth tremor experienced in Saki West constituency. They made the call following a motion by the Deputy Speaker, Musah Abdulwasi, brought under Matters of Urgent Public Importance. According to Abdulwasi, Saki town has been experiencing cases of tremor in its communities around Medina, Abimbola and Veterinary. He said the tremor occurred in the affected area as often as three days intervals. He said: “A tremor ordinarily precedes an earthquake. “Unless urgent steps are taken, the affected communities will continue to live in a state of apprehension, anxiety and insecurity and it will affect the quality of life of the residents.” http://.com/smoke-in-oyo-state-go-to-jail/ Lalasticlala
