@ shamass77,
thanks for info relating daarsat's distributor conference you gave me when i called.
since you represent daargroup in here, i suggest you begin representing to the fullest on every activity relating to your organisation.
like for instance, my fellow peeps in the house would appreciate the info you gave me as well concerning the daarsat distributors conference for those in the Lagos Zone:
EVENT: Daarsat Distributors Conference
DATE: Monday 8th, September, 2008
VENUE: Lagos Airport Hotel, Ikeja
TIME: 10:00AM

NOTE ALSO: you can text your name, company name and corperate address to 08066556005 for seat reservation and more details.

my guy shamass, this assignment is for you. please find out the exact address of the venue (that is street name and number) where this event is holding in ikeja. i know it's off allen avenue, but can't remeber the street name. alot of people who do not live in or around ikeja or Lagos for that matter would appreciate the info. you can add directions for good effect!!!!!! grin

with the way daarsat is going about their launch date and their offerings, i have a very funny feeling that they are going to flop like FSTV /TITV.
why the big mystery with their activitieshuh? i am 100% sure that Raymond Dokpesi and his crew do not have the slightest knowledge that Nigerians are very much at home with DTH technology and the other offerings on digital satelite television.
i suggest that they take a stroll round every neighbourhood in lagos for instance and see that almost every home now has a dish mounted on their rooftops that pick numerous digital satelite tv channels(both free-to-air and subscription packages).
maybe what they don't realise is that, they are not coming to give Nigerians what we have never seen, neither are they coming into this area as trailblazers. infact, they are coming into this industry as an irrelevant player. and we won't miss them if they defer their launch till kingdom comes.

@ McAdeex,
i saw the report also, and it is also on daar communications website(www.daargroup.com), but they did not indicate any technical details relating to the satelite beam that will be carrying their signals.
all they just said was that, they will be launching next month.
i guess, we would just have to wait and see.

@ raw-unkat,
check captainus profile for his contact details. i believe he lives in Ghana

@ all,
can any of my esteemed senior gurus in da house give me answers to the following questions:-
1. can i use a 90cm dish to pick signals on pas 7/10 C-band frequency?
2. is there an LNB that can receive both KU and C band signals simultanously? if yes, which brand is very good and the cost of the LNB?

i look forward to ur response.
thanks all

Quote From: Nash-FTA
Dear All,
On the Eutelsat Sesat W4 satellite (36 Degrees East), there are two new coded channels (irdeto format) namely: "PANDA" and "SMAX2". Enter the following parameters on your decoder and rescan:
Frequency = 11507; Polarisation = Vertical; Symbolrate = 30,000.

Note: Remember to insert FEC = 3/4
Nash my guy, thanx a million for the info, but like you rightly pointed out , the channels are coded.
hence, they are of no value to us here since the channels are not free to view.

@ vickoy23,
my guy, thanx alot 4 the call yesterday. i really appreciate it. i look forward to your findings in our discussion.

@ toxnaija,
abeg my broda, i must follow you go onye ngbu house go wack dat pounded yam and egusi soup!!!!! grin grin grin . if not for anything, but to show solidarity and preach the gospel of one love, peace and unity.

Very POOR NTA video quality at Olympics
« #1543 on: August 08, 2008, 08:03 PM »

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
 NTA with all their Big talk about being the Biggest TV Network in Africa. See what viewers in this USA FTA Forum think of their China Olympics Video Quality.
@ F_Marshal,
it's only God that will deliver Nigerians from the technical ineptitude of NTA.
here also in Naija, NTA is also dishing out the same bad quality pictures in their olympics coverage. the sad thing is that all other local tv stations in Nigeria are all taking their live feeds from NTA's transmission.
to make matters worse, it was exposed to the whole world that NTA  does not have dedicated feeds from the olympics broadcast partners. or how does one explain a situation where the live transmission of Nigeria's Men's olympics football team's match against Japan was suddenly disrupted and it's place came another live match between Cameroun and Honduras.
you can imagine my anger when our own live match was replaced with that of another country!!!!!!
this is what i call TREASON AT THE HIGHEST LEVEL shocked
to add insult to injury, i discovered that my neighbour who had DSTV was enjoying live transmission of the same Nigeria match that NTA yanked off air. to say i was ashamed of being a Nigerian at that point in time would be a gross understatement.  imagine DSTV had HD quality didicated feeds for all live events at the olympics which they broadcast  Simultaneously.
as i settled to watch the rest of the match at my neighbours place, i could not help but wonder why NTA still existed!!!!!!

@thando,
you better believe it girl, these FTA (free to air) digital satelite signals reception is 100% legit and yessssssss, it's absolutely free to receive digital satelite television and radio signals. all you need is a digital satelite receiver and a dish and you are set.
the channels you can receive depends on several factors, chief among them is your location which determines what satelites you can recieve, which inturn tells you what channels that are FTA that you can watch, if you are locked to any particular satelite.
so, what are you waiting for, join the club!!!!!! grin grin grin

Satellite TV TechnologyRe: Official Thread of Free-To-Air Satellite TV (Part 1) by linksman(m): 2:18pm On Jul 16, 2008
@ sathob,
you entered the parameters for pas 7/10 manually into the satelite named eutelsat w4.
the frequency, polarisation and symbol rate are those of pas7/10.
that's why u are getting pas7/10 signals under the name eutelsat w4.
besides, both pas7/10 and eutelsat w4 are both facing east (68.5 and 36 degrees respectively)
cheers. grin

Satellite TV TechnologyRe: Official Thread of Free-To-Air Satellite TV (Part 1) by linksman(m): 12:17pm On Jul 02, 2008
@justx24,
i am about 3 months old into installations and i have done several installations already.
i need that hand held device (DSM - digital satelite monitor) to make my work much easier and faster.
the DSM already is pre-configured with satelite names and their locations, e.g Eutelsat W3A, 7degrees East.
some client locations are an installers nightmare. the handheld digital satelite meter enables me to connect the LNB straight to the DSM and track what ever bird i am looking for with ease, fine tune the signal strenghth and the quality without any need for a tv or external monitor. once, i am done, i just remove my DSM and connect the client's LNB using his cables to his decoder. go indoors and enter the frequency for the tracked bird on the decoder, then run a scan for the channels on the tracked bird.
P.S:- the use of the word "bird" means satelite ooooo no be fowl oooooo grin grin grin
@all,
i still need info on where i can get this Digital Satelite Meter to buy, irrespective of the brand. any ideashuh? smiley
