@kkkossy, don't be fooled. it's not Hitv that is responsible for the addition of WWE to setanta. any body that can receive setanta africa sports channel will be able to watch WWE wrestling come January 2010. my guys that are in the FTA forum can watch it, likewise, those with mytv subscription packages or even those on dstv package. bottom line is, Setanta africa is responsible for bringing WWE to you come 2010, and not Hitv. ![]() |
Happy Holidays to everyone that have made this forum the toast of Africa. It's nice to be here after a long absence due to my work. Muvi tv on pas 7/10 ku band goes encripted as from Jan 1st 2010. The truth is, we won't miss 'em. their programming content is not worth crying for. For the first time in months, I now have about 2 weeks of relaxation time on my hands to play about with some receivers i have and see if I can discover anything new. Using my digital terrestial receiver and our normal analogue tv antenna,I was able to get a lock and a very good signal quality on DMTV (Dstv Mobile TV signal). but was not able to get any channel when i ran a blindscan on it. still experimenting and will let the house know if anything pops up on that signal. Peace all. ![]() |
@All, I have been able to get an RCU (remote control unit) for my LG skylife HD receiver today from alaba international market. Funny enough the function bottons on the RCU are still in Japanese/Korean language Anyways, I am still determined to overcome this language barrier and see what this device can do. I will definitely sort it out on or before this weekend. I am very busy this days with work. @Olason, sorry, I did not see your message on time. just reading it on the forum now. @Enitan, thanks bro for the call. mighty kind of you. |
@Buben, i bought it for =N=1,500. I bought it without a power cable. mine has been cut off. i just bought a cable for it and gave to an electrician to fix for me. confirmed, the device powers on. Now, huddle no.2, the entire onsreen display menu language is in Japanese/Korean I am going to use tonight to see how i can change the language to english. and tomorrow head back to alaba to look for a remote control unit for it. from what i can see on the body, the back panel has 2 tv AV output slots, one av slot for HD(YPbPr), one HDMI slot, one s-video slot, one ethernet (RJ45 LAN) port, RS 232 port, one VGA port for monitor. And it has a card slot at the front for smart cards. I just pray to God that this device can do some wonderful things for me . |
@All, it's nice to be back in the house after a long absence. kudos to all the big bros and new members for keeping the forum alive. having spent the whole weekend reading through a better part of season 3, i must confess i have also caught the Mpeg4/Multi-tv bug. I spent the better part of this morning and afternoon at alaba market, hunting down strong destributors for their srt4910 boxes. I got sobis communications and they did not have the HD receiver. What they have on ground right now is the new strong 4663x pvr box that sells for=N= 8,500 The other new product they have on ground is the strong dual view receiver box that sells for =N= 55,000. I now headed for the non tested section of the market where imported fairly used (tokunbo)electronics are sold. after a long search, i was able to get an LG skylife HD box at a fairly cheap price. i am going to do a thorough check on it tomorrow to know if the appliance actually works. i bought it non tested. I will keep the house posted on my findings on this box. cheers all ![]() |

@switched, with regards to getting all DSTV channels on your receiver, the size of your 60cm dish has nothing to do with it. tell your installer to make sure to do a blind scan on the Eutelsat W4 satellite. or tell him to enter the frequency parameters manually, then run a blind scan. all the channels should pop up. pls do not touch or tamper with your dish. good luck. |
@Luckiest, i am feeling u seriously my brother. good talk. i am sure the people concerned are listening. let me just let the shamass'es of this world know that their is something cooking red hot on the FTA(free-to-air) KU band platform. some world class players are about launching something sweet specially for the sub-saharan African region. they just discovered that they have a very good market over here, and already test transmission are already being carried out. the signals will be carried on the SIRIUS bird. i really pity some people that want me to come and waste N50,000 naira on their ugly offerings when i can install a 3m dish and watch over 2,000 FTA channels free of charge that show all premiership, la liga, champions league, latest movies, mini series, documentaries, and all the best news channels for under N30,000 naira without any subscription charges. |
@shamass77, my guy from daar group. how u dey hope all is well with u in abuja.i couldn't help but laugh when i saw ur opening remark in ur last post on this thread. so, by ur own summation, who is the toothpick and who is the javelin ? ![]() my guy, do not believe that the HD equipment you have gives you any edge over others in this DTH business. because from all what you have said, all i can pick out is the fact that you have a very big selfish monopolistic blood running in your veins. it doesn't matter if you pay $200 million dollars or more to get the EPL rights, or have HD formats, and all the latest gadgets in the industry. the bottom line is, if you do not have the subscriber base to back up all your investments, you and your daarsat will sink faster than the titanic. ![]() Let what happened to GTV in Ghana be a good lesson to you. it was not that they didn't have the equipment or the content that made them go under; what killed them was the fact that they didn't have the subscriber base to recoup their investment from. what we Nigerians desire is a home grown platform where we can enjoy the best of digital satellite television that offers very good local and foreign content at very cheap affordable rate. that means very affordable subscriber equipment(decoder + dish), and VERY POCKET FRIENDLY SUBSCRIPTION RATES. Remember when GSM mobile phones were first introduced in Nigeria, the cost of owning one was very expensive and the subscriber base was very low and the operators were not finding it easy running a profitable biz. then one day, a new operator entered the scene and immediately crashed the cost of owning a GSM line and greatly reduced the tarrifs for making calls. what happened, every operator joined the bandwagon of crashing the cost of owning a GSM line and reduced calling rates. today, what do we have ?? both old and new GSM operators have recorded a 500% increase in their subscriber base which has translated to increased revenue to make their businesses very profitable.shamass, do not think for one second that the manufacturers of HD equipment have stopped making new equipment since daar group bought theirs. the so called state of the art equipments that your organisation posses today that is making you not to see reason with most Nigerians is going to become absolutely OBSELETE JUNK tomorrow, because technology is dynamic and it keeps evolving every day. new inventions are been made on a daily basis. Besides, someone might just come into the scene tomorrow with the financial muscle to aquire the latest HD dvb broadcasting equipment, aquire every lucrative content rights and partner/merge with existing local pay tv providers and completely make their offerings so cheap it would be like aquiring a GSM phone line now. then, we shall see what will become of selfish monopolistic egg heads in the DTH industry in Nigeria. our elders say, a word is enough for the wise. the Holy Bible says "my people perish for lack of knowledge and vision". Nigerians are watching!!!!!!! wish u all the best |
@gangsta101, my brother, i am interested in the UPS back up system that you have put together. pls tell me what i need to get, and how to go about setting it up. with that power solution, i can always watch my favourite programmes late at night without putting on the Gen. i await ur reply. you can email me also with more detailed info at : linksman3@gmail.com |
@ALL, it's nice to see that this forum is growing at a very incredible fast pace. i am sorry i have been silent lately. this is mainly due to the fact that there's nothing happening for guys on 90cm dishes. all the hype in here is all about 1.8m and above dishes. so, we dat can not afford the space at the moment can only read and be informed about happenings in the FTA world of large dishes. anyway sha, i am looking forward to something new in the digital terrestial platform for those in Lagos. a new cable company will soon start running test transmission. i will keep the house posted as things unfold. well done to all the gurus in da house. |
@ all, greetings to all the big boys in da house. it's nice to see new peeps in here as well. @ pas7/10 users, you can watch obama's innuguration live on etv tomorrow tuesday 20th. it starts 5:55pm Nigerian time. happy viewing ![]() |
@All, HAPPY NEW YEAR. Let the tracking of birds begin. wishing everyone a BLESSED and PROSPEROUS 2009 NUFF LUV @Vickoy, ol'boy, what's wrong with all your phone numbers. non of them is ever available? abi, NIGCOMSAT dey affect you too? pls, get across to me ASAP |
@all, A MERRY XMAS AND A VERY PROSPEROUS NEWYEAR TO EVERYONE IN THIS FORUM ![]() @ken007, the discom package is 10,500 naira (this includes DVB-C decoder @ 7,000 + VAT @ 500 + 1month subcription @ 3,000). other optional cost include ( cost of california yagi antenna @ 2500, + cost of cables and pole). as for me and many others, our california antennae and cables are still where we mounted them some 3yrs ago and we do not need to buy a new one. call this discom numbers for further enquiries: 01-3453066 01-3453090 @vickoy, i dey vex for you ooooooo. you just foreget my side just like that. you no reply my mails neither did u bother calling me. anyway sha, i am glad you are well and doing ok. call me when you read this |
@ Enitan, check ur pas 7/10 connection very well. it's very much on, as mine working very well as i post this. make sure ur cable connection from LNB to Decoder is not loose. also verify that your dish position for pas 7/10 has not shifted. good luck. |
@olofofo, count me in for the demo taking place at your own place. let me have further details about it. thanks |
@justx24, i did a blind scan on my pas7/10 very early this morning before going to work, and bam!!!!! OHTV just surfaced. it's more of a kiddies channel, but i guess it's a general family channel with a touch of Christainity. so, just do a blind scan again and it will surely surface. @all 65cm/90cm users, keep the hunt for any good satelite with good content going. i am sure pretty soon, we will overtake the "Nilesat" guys in this forum. for now, na dem dey run shows!!!!!!!! peace all ![]() |
@all, it seems mytv has just added another channel to their list. the new channel is Kidsco. it's a very good channel for children cartoons, movies and general family entertainment. i might just dust up my smartcard and go and renew the subscription to add some flavour to my viewing experience. i only wish they would scrap that useless mgm movie channel and replace it with a better and modern 21st century movie channel. so, just do a blindscan on your pas 7/10 bird and pick it up. |
@olofofo, dis ur private membership club for FTA lovers is not a bad idea. but how do you tell who is a spy or not. it is not written on anybody's forehead or is it written in any registered user of nairaland's profile!!!!!! for all i know, any spy in our beloved FTA forum can be someone that probably is an active member and contributor here. in cyberworld, i trust no one. beware of wolves in sheep clothings. by the way, check ur mailbox, i dropped a note there 4 u. get back to me soon. @Enitan, thanx a million 4 the free browsing stuff hookup. @All, i need someone with links to Al-Queda or any terrorist organisation that can borrow me serious surface to air missiles in order to take out DSTv and HiTv transponders. imagine, RDV is still scrambled. the bullets from my grandfathers 1932 riffle did not go beyond my 3 storey building!!!!!!!!! ![]() ahaaa!!!!, Enitan; pls come helep me cast a spell on their transponders while i wait 4 my surface to air missiles to arrive. abi i go send for jujukemist |
hi all, it's nice to be back in the forum after a long absence. all the same, i have been reading all the wonderful posts that you guys have been contributing. "more grease to your elbows and knees" ![]() @Enitan, abeg, what kind of joke are u cracking concerning RDV on dat sirius bird? look, it's not funny at all because i just came from alaba international market now where i went to purchase a complete 60cm dish set to track sirius 4 bird. the main reason being that i can now watch some live EPL matches using 60cm dish. i am going to rent a ladder, and by the time i get back; RDV better be unscrambled or i will shoot down every transponder belonging to HITV and DSTV with my grandfather's 1932 "shakabula" rifle. ![]() i don talk my own!!!!!!!!! |
wow!!!!! so, i am now in season2 of our beloved FTA thread. so much has happened while i have been away from cyberspace that i am still doing catch up reading through all the previous posts after page 75 in season1. anyway sha, God willing i will be up to speed with the latest happenings in here as from tomorrow. Nice job all for keeping the spirit of FTA alive and thriving in here!!!!!!! cheers all ![]() |
@ Enitan/Toxnaija, i love u guys three much!!!!! i never knew u guys cared about me this much to the extent you decided to include me smack right in the middle of una lovers quarrel!!!! ![]() bottomline is, kisss and make up because i have a DVB-C decoder to hunt down, be it at alaba or kafanchan!!!!! and i need u guys by my side for technical support when i finally locate one.if this is another plan of Nilesaters to discourage me from getting my beloved mbc2,4 and action here in Lagos, abeg e no go work oooo!!!!!!! . to me this DVB-C stuff is the only solution for those of us who don't have space to mount 1.8m or 3.6m dishes in another man's compound!!!! @ all, abeg, let the research flow like ocean waves!!!!!!! if at the end of the day, i can not find a tokunbo DVB-C decoder to buy, then discom office here i come!!!!! shikena ![]() |
@ all, i went to alaba international market to search for a DVB-C decoder i could use for my dormant discom setup to receive their signals and this is what i found out. taking Enitan's advice, i went in search of a fairly used DVB-C decoder. it took me a while to locate where i could find "tokunbo" decoders, and when i finally did, they really had alot of brands and models that are very compact and portable and cheap. the only snag there was that 99% of them are all DVB-T brands!!!!!! all they could pick were digital terrestial signals. i tested two brands namely PREMIO and I-BUSH receivers. both could get all trendtv stations that are on Eutelsat W4 bird, like nollywood, trendsports, pcfi, fox news, ewtn, fashiontv, trace etc. and yes, they were all scrambled!!!!!! the sad thing was that i could not pick discom channel signals after repeated scanning for them. so, i feel getting a fairly used DVB-C decoder would not be that easy as anticipated. none the less, i will continue my search some other day because guys are bringing in more and more container loads of this stuff on a daily basis. so, who knows; i might just get lucky. will keep you guys posted on my next trip to alaba market |
@ Enitan2002, well done bro for that incisive and very revealing research on discom's "mode of operation". i can't begin to thank you enough for this jist cuz i still have my yagi antenna and cables still lying idle where i mounted them about 2 years ago. if not for anything, the thought of having my beloved mbc2 and 4 back again is enough motivation to head for alaba international market to seek out any DVB-C decoder. i will keep u posted on my findings from alaba market. @ all, if you interested in getting a free sim pack of the latest GSM operator in Nigeria, (etisalat). then, you can click on the link below to reserve yourself and your loved ones a free etisalat number (0809). which you can redeem when they become available. here's the link: http://0809uchoose.etisalat.com.ng/ |
@ urfriend, haaaa!!!!! anyways sha, i wish u "soonest perfomance" ![]() |
@ urfriend, i admire your patriotism for HiTv. but i can now see that you are beginning to suffer from BLIND patriotism, thereby causing you not to see clearly the faults of HiTv. how can you put almost all HiTv technical faults on Eutelsat for your information, HiTv is not the only customer of eutelsat on their w4 bird that HiTv signals are beamed from. we also have DSTV, GTV and TRENDTV on that bird. so, if Eutelsat is messing up, why aren't the signals of other pay tv providers affected as well ?if you, try to tell me that they are on different transponders, then let me inform you that HiTv shares transponders with GTV, and GTV was up and running smoothly all through the period HiTv signals were messing up. if HiTv has their own dedicated transponder on the bird W4, how come that their transponder is the only malfunctioning one among all the transponders on eutelsat W4 bird ![]() Let me use something more simpler to open your eyes. lets assume you have a cell phone with an MTN sim in it. and almost on a regular basis, there's always a problem with your line that prevents you from making or receiving calls. and that problem is only perculiar to you because you seem to be the only one experiencing the that problem. every other person you know using the same MTN network does not have the problems you are experiencing. so, would you blame your predicament outrightly on MTN, or on your line or your equipment that houses your line, in this case your cellphone ![]() My guy, open your eyes before HiTv poor services turn you to mugu!!!!!!!! ![]() |
@ vickoy23, my guy, thanks for the rundown oooo. we really appreciate ur info on daarsat. personally, i am angry about the list of channels because there's none that caters for people like me that love american sci-fi, action, horror and adventure movies. like i said in another thread, it's like daarsat is all about local movies and INDIAN films!!!!!!! ![]() since, they are launching without premiereship and la liga, then they should foreget it. as for their signals being in HD format, i pity them if they are expecting us to throw away our current decoders for theirs. I for one use a decoder called XCRUISER and i get some religious channels on pas7/10 whose signals are in HD format. i will wait for them to start test transmission before i can conclude on their offerings. how i wish someone should have told them that it would pay them more if their overall hardware requirement should have been made in a way that all other available decoders/hardware would be compatible with their signals. i wish them all the best. |
@ all, for current info on daarsat news, you can check the daarsat + visafone thread, just next to ours. here's the link, https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-167761.32.html cheers |
@ shamass77, i accept your apology for having given me wrong info yesterday concerning daarsat distributors conference. you gave me a wrong date for the lagos zone. honestly, i would have eaten you raw this morning when arrived lagos airport hotel only to find out that there was no conference fixed for today 4 daarsat at the venue. it was painful for me cuz i had to go half way across town to get to that venue. you can imagine the stress involved when it comes to lagos traffic hold-ups on a monday morning!!!!!!! the only thing that pacified my anger was when you returned my call and text messages to apologise. i will finally foregive you when you compensate me with a free daarsat decoder and three months free subscription ![]() as per the channels you listed, which one of them will be giving man pikin quality and current foreign movies like sci-fi, action and adventure flicks i can see that you guys love indian movies . do we get to watch live premiership and la liaga matches outside the usual osmi/NTA/AIT terrestial transmissions ![]() abeg, let us know more about ur offerings |

? abeg send am to my box please.
wish u all the best
