That night i prepared for the examination, calculating every topic in my mathematice textbook That night was like a vigil, the time i should have used in sleeping, i manage that moment in staying awake to read.
I tore a piece of paper to solve maths practically without ceasing till 5:30am in the early morning. When i noticed that its morning, i stood and packed my books into my school bag. I left the parlour to my room to observe my morning devotion.
After i had concluded praying, i left the room and entered the bathroom to shower ,since i spent so much time reading till my eyes got dim. I had felt stronger after taking my bathe, I dashed into the kitchen to arrange for breakfast to eat before making other preparation. My mother intruded into the kitchen yawning and stretching her body.


"Good morning mother. How was your night ?", i'd asked


"my night was fine ,and i did slept splendidly without disturbance. And how was yours ?", my mother asked impatiently.


" hmmmm. I had a very stressful hard time reading, calculating through out last night without relenting ", i'd answered her.


She sighed and reluctantly walked towards where i stood and collected the kettle i held in my hand.

"go get yourselve ready for school while i prepare the breakfast", my mum instructed and i left the kitchen immediately to get ready for school.


I wore my school uniform, picked up my maths textbook and left my room as i approached the parlour to sit and wait for breakfast. My mother later came into the sitting room and placed a cup of tea with bread. I took in my morning breakfast, greeted my mother and left the house for school. Perhaps, when i infiltrated the school compound, many thoughts were running through my mind as i had the feeling that something will happen in the school that morning. I stood from my classroom block to wave at miss grace when i sighted her, before i saw mr. Akpan heading towards the examination hall.
Students crowded outside the exams hall. Meanwhile, the principal changed the arrangement of seating. Mr. Akpan actually organized for new arrangement of students. He commanded all the pupils to stand on a straight line, before he ordered us to moved on straight line to occupy a seat at the front of the hall.
Before the normal time of the exams started, the principal made a prolong annoying speech concerning the rules and regulations governing the exams. He forbids us to abstain from exam malpractice. Afterwards, the examination mathematices papers was shared according to the different combined classes. it went well tho, but not for me.
I hardly finished answering the first objective question , when mr. Akpan called four seniors to supervise us.


" um... Pls check them very well, because i dont trust some of them here. Is that understood ?", mr. Akpan asked the seniors.


"we understand you sirr", the seniors answered immediately in unison.


Mr. Akpan walked through the door and never returned back again to check on us. I whistled at emeka from the back and he carelessly turned and looked towards my direction, but just as he turned to my direction emeka got himself into trouble.


" hey.. You stand up. Why were you looking at the back ?. You no de dear say we de here ?", one of the seniors asked.


Emeka couldn't mention or say a word to support himself. He stood there muted without writing, untill i helped him say something.


" am sorry senior, i was the person who called him. His money fell from his pocket", i'd answered.


"hey shut up you idiot. Did i talk to you ?", one of the seniors asked me silly question.


Emeka never knew i had been the one whistling on him. Emeka foolishly reminded those seniors that someone whistled at him. Confusion started arising when i identified myself to be the person. As they wanted to penalize me, one of them literally disagreed with the others.


" my guy abeg leave that boy alone make him write him exams. Beside, mr. Akpan no de here. Allow the do what they want ", one of them mentioned, but the other three seniors insulted him.


The four seniors that were to be supervising had started arguing, rendering abusive insult on themselves untill it became worse that they started fighting. They fought in such a way that they broke legs of desk, and used it as weapons. Mr. Akpan heard the information. The principal came with the help of other teachers to settle them, it was just in vain.
Our papers were collected from all the students.
The fighting continued as they dragged themselves. Sooner, those seniors brought out knife and all the students in the examination hall fled.
I couldn't wait any more as the last student to watch them fight when the tallest stabbed his fellow guy.
I ran out and headed straight to the direction of the hostel...
