Reference: It is not about price but productivity. Price comes last. If increased productivity, efficiencies and competition permits 87, so be it, but that is not the goal. That is an NLC type socialism argument in which they cry for higher wages not minding productivity levels then watch helplessly as inflation robs them at gun point. It is a consistent track record of productivity that has made 2 gig data sell for N1000 today and a bag of cement relatively stable despite the terrible inflation. Where we cry is where we are not producing enough such as forex, foodstuff and fuel. So price is not the matter, making stuff is. I would like you to explain productivity in relation to market dynamics. Going by your example....productivity of the telcos made 2gb 1k ?Really pls explain |

In total, they can't even be up to a million outside naija...... They should stop claiming figures jare, thats how some just openly say we are about 20 million plus in Lagos, using traffic and the crowd they see to conclude, if its true, then Kano alone will be 50 million na. oweniwe: How many tribes or ethnic groups are in Germany, Canada, USA, India or Switzerland ... Compared to Nigeria?
We all read advantages and disadvantages of various systems of government in school nau. federalism does not suit it. If there are few ethnic groups in a country, you may adopt unitary/central system of government ... Switzerland land mass is very small so
But in a country like Nigeria where you have over a hundred ethnic groups... Hausa, igbo, yoruna, bini, kanuri, urhobo, tiv, idoma, efik, ijaw, ijebu, fulani.... And you want to practice unitary system of government ...
That country will never work... Because ... Even though they are jammed into one country, they will never work together.
If one tribe want to do this, the other tribes will do all they can to frustrate them.
IBB Frustrated Abiola... Abacha locked up obasanjo... Obasanjo frustrated Atiku... Boko haram frustrated GEJ... Buhari locked up Nnamdi Kanu... Niger Delta militants are frustrating Buhari... You see am?

Add federal and 36 states legislators... State and and federal ministries... Government parastals like Nnpc, Customs, Faan...
If you sue customs or nnpc will they obey court order?
Now multiply you. 1% times all these organizations.. senate, house of rep, 36 states house of assemblies... 774 LGAs... Thousands of councillors...How many federal and 36 states ministries... Over 5,000 people with political immunity... Now multiply that with your 1% ...

Dminister: I can't teach you any further cos you are far from the knowledge of comparative politics. comparative politics make one or a political scientist to figure why a particular system of government is successful in one country than the others thus being the reason why we compare. all political systems do not perform the same way others do. a failure of one system would make another system a success in another country. we are operating federal system of government because there is the need for unity and oneness due to multiplicity of languages and ethnicity. so if we consider fiscal federalism then we should be ready for regionalism instead of patriotism. it can begin to pit one region against and take away the feeling of oneness therefore making each region prone to cessation. Comparative Politics...Why is it that all pol sys dont perform the same way? Have you considered the factors inherent in each system? Besides, so you think USA, Germany, India, Canada e.t.c, did not consider fiscal federalism before opting for federalism. Do you know the only major country claiming to be a con-federal state is Switzerland yet it has a strong central govt? |

WILLIAMS10: The purpose of this thread,I believe,is for us to learn an sharpen our hitherto understanding..That's d reason I took out time to explain both concepts(federalism and confederacy/"true federalism). Federalism,if practised appropriately will unite and allay ethnic sentiments(due to a central government).on the other hand, confederacy will only highlight ethnic differences. We will become conscious of our echelon. Thereby, further polarising the country. Also, federalism,if anemic, will also heighten ethnic consciousness..the marginalised group will react and call for separation. The truth does not change, only our knowledge of it does..Confederacy is tantamount to giving up our unity and oneness. Well said!!! |

Dminister: Mr man, in a federal system of government structure, the states or units making up the government are called regions and where the overall head of government is called the central also where absolute powers are resided. The central government cannot remain overall powerfull in true federalism cause it's absolute powers enshrined in exclusive list of the constitution which it legislate alone are also being performed by the regional governments. Therefore, the central government has no absolute power over the states. The central is left with absolute powers in terms of foreign affairs and defence. I am a political scientist, this is my field. Honestly if you are political scientist...please return your certificate. What do you call what USA is practicing? OH or you think NY is more powerful than the FG? why then do you think the rich sponsor politicians to Washington...If may ask who dictates the economic direction? why do you think the greenback has been on bullish lately? oweniwe: Immunity clause in the constitution says you cannot sue, prosecute or charge a serving political office holder or his appointees to cour Until their tenure is over.
So if a governor like, he can eat 50billion... Nobody can touch him ... And after his tenure, he contest for House of rep or senate... And goes scott free with his loot.

Politics › Re: True Federalism, Its Advantages And Implications. by lionshare: 11:25pm On Jun 13, 2016 |
oweniwe: You are wrong sir...
There are some things called "Federal Exclusive " list....
Power, Rail, Police, Ports and othrr critical infrastructure are at the exclusive prerogative of the federal government....
States has no right to undertake FG exclusive projects. This is why states hardly repair federal roads... its same reasons why all ports are owned by FG...
Delta and Akwa Ibom tried to build their own sea ports and were frustrated.
Look at your power grid... You can't generate power without federal license and the power u generate will be shared people u don't know while your state is in darkness. Delta state has 3 power plants and yet power is erratic in Asaba... If you were the governor, will u build another power plant? That is why we have epileptic power in Nigeria.
So states can't just build anything they like. Whatever they want to build, they have to ship it to lagos and haul by trucks to their respective states....
All these useless laws limits and restrict investments. That is why it is better for Nigeria to revert to regionalism... Let people build whatever they want and keep it instead of chasing federal approval and then sharing their sweat with people they dont know They are not useless laws so to say, lets call on our legislature to effect the needed changes. The executive that we curse and insult all the time, cant and will not do it. Only the legislature can make changes to that list. Btw, Lagos repairs Federal roads all the time. Let's not be sentimental, do you know the reason the ports in other parts of the country cannot be compared or used on the same scale as that of lagos? Pls. google why Port in Felixstowe, UK is does more cargoes that than of Southhampton, same UK. |
