Shawa fish is for low income earners and here, it is sold for 5k per kg. Don't tell me you're giving your kids that bony fish. I don't know how anyone will fry shawa because of how it behaves in hot oil since it's very oily

The fact is you lied. One pasta costs between 1k to 1k5 depending on brand. So let's assume you bought N500 pepper and N200 onion, that's 1700 already. Except you mean only you ate fish and your wife and kids ate the pasta without fish, 1/2kg of shawa will go for 2k5 which is 4200 already not counting the oil you used in making the sauce and the seasoning. Don't forget you claimed the pasta and sauce will last till Monday. How will 1/2kg last 5 people for 3 days? So what you're telling us is that your kids are bearing the renewed hope ebi while you're eating shawa and smiling

Shawa is one of my favourite fish because of the taste and very edible with all the skeleton.....I am not a fan of Titus and my fish must be fried,grilled or smoked even Cat fish as i don't eat boiled fish.

Shawa where i live is 3,500 a kg,croaker,tilapia,hake are about 5k which is what we consume for soups......I don't need 1kg of fish to make a quick breakfast of pasta and sauce......if its pounded yam and ofe nsala that you eat in your house every morning, thats your problem not mine.

eat but,its 1k to 1,2 over here which we always stock up on monthly.....i stand by my figure of 3,700 for my family of 5.

I don't know what you're stocking up but it is common sense that your write up is falsehood. How exactly can you stock up with 50k when a 1/4 bag of rice is average of 15k and you already spend 5k every week on pepper. That's 35k on just two items from a budget of 120k. Note that you didn't factor in the cost of gas, kerosene, electric stove or charcoal into your feeding neither did you add seasonings and condiments such as vegetable oil and palm oil. A 5L vegetable oil bottle goes for 16k while palm oil 5L goes for 18k. Add to that 16k to fill a 12kg gas and you're now at 85k out of your 120k budget leaving you with just 35k to buy beans, yam, semo, pasta, sweet potatoes, onions, fish, turkey/goat meat, noodles, garri, amala, golden morn, oats, custard, eggs, milk and snacks. Good luck with your spending oooo

What are you yapping on all about,there is no way I will consume 5L of either veg or palm oil in a month except during festive season or when we do some heavy cooking.......condiments and co would fall under miscellaneous and I will consider the cost of that negligible......why would I use 12.5kg gas in a month when I am not a restaurant......that should take me 2 months at the least.

Saying rice is 15k is the biggest fallacy you are openly attesting too......where i am,a full bag as I speak to you is 49k,a quarter is all my family needs for a whole month.......rice and gas @ 1,400 per kg × 6kg would set me off 21k......14k short of your erroneous calculations.

Well we eat one bag of Optimum month. 70k already gone. One pot of soup minimum is 10k and it last only 2 days. Garri, I cannot quantify that one now but we eat half painter in one sitting. Means 1 paint in two days. Pepper, crayfish ogbono paints... No dey reach one month and they are nothing less 50k total. Feeding cost nothing less than 300k for here. It's not even balanced diet oo.

If you come put other wahala apart from food, I spend nothing less than 500k month and na one trouser I dey wear ooo. This Tinubu government choke.

I don't know where you live or who you are but I will tell you.......500 naira rice,200 naira beans and an egg will get you kicking for the day......3 noodles @ 750- 2 for some and an egg,my special is custard and sugar which i already have @ home hollandia milk 500,2 eggs 500........500 naira beans with one egg and 1 beef, 3 wraps of garri,fufu,semo if you are the heavy hitter with 2 beef will kick you up for the day.....these is an average Nigerian meal that I see people eat everyday.....I dont live in ikoyi or lekki.

2 okpa will keep you running all day till COB for 1k......700 naira roasted plantain with 200 naira groundnuts will fill your tank.....I see these daily .....i see people swarming around koko sellers every morning for pap,milk,sugar and bean balls or cakes for 1k every morning.

I am not glamorising our eating choices but considering the comtemporanous economic situation we are in,majority nigerians are on survival mode and they get nourished these ways which will keep them going.

Some of us Yoruba Muslims can manage our family with that amount for about 4days

My family is on a stock up budget of 50k monthly about 20k weekly out of pocket expenses for food,soups,snacks,take outs etc that brings us to a total of about 110k or roughly 120k roughly $90 a month......if you divide that by 30days,you have 4k per day for a family of 5.

A 1/4 bag of rice will take us a whole month,beans,garri,semo,amala,yam when its surplus,pasta,noodles,sweet potatoes which us quite cheap,plantain when surplus,pepper of 10k would last 2 weeks......Ile epo market is quite close to me and I often drive through mile 12 several times in a month where pepper,onions,potatoes and yam are quite cheap.

Provisions golden morn/corn flakes,oats,custard,eggs,sugar,milk

Snacks like biscuits,shawama,meat pie,bole,puff puff or donuts.

Proteins....majorly fish,pork,eggs.....we have really reduced our beef consumption due to its high cost which I always find annoying byvthe way......goat meat and turkey on few occasions.

Minimum wage in america is about $7.95 per hour while in Nigeria its about 70k a month but based on my observation the lowest income family should be bringing home at least 200k monthly in Nigeria as dual income......I see this and I have studied this.

Whats your business with how much he spends for breakfast are you within the same income threshold.....several upscale restaurants are opening all over the country on a daily basis and several budget ones are also very much available.......a thousand naira can still get you a decent breakfast and 10k might not be able to get you same depending where you go.
