Can we just take a hard look at these figures released by the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Regulatory Authority.

45.5m liters supplied in a single day.....Mr atiku is saying he will subsidise this petrol from the production end by giving discounted crude to refineries......Dangote alone took delivery of 52.6m barrels of crude in the 2nd quarter 26 from local crude suppliers ......current crude prices is between $80 to $90 a barrel, he is even ready to pay in full but the suppliers have never given him the total volume he requires.

Mr Atiku now wants to discount this price and he expects crude supply to our local refineries not to be disrupted......lets even leave the plenty grammar and look at the hard figures......whether he is subsidising from source or from the pumps,it will still come at a cost to his govt......lets run with the 45.5m litrrs of PMS supplied to the market in a single day.

Is Mr Atiku going to bring the price down to the pre tinubu rate of 250 naira a liter, if not anything higher than 500 to 600 naira will make no sense to Nigerians.....this means and current prices of N1,250 @ the most conservative estimate,Mr atiku will have to be forking out about 650 naira or equivalent value in subsidies.

N650 × 45,500,000 liters =29,575,000,000 billion naira (per day)

N29.5b × 30 days = 887,250,000,000 billion naira ( per month)

N887.2 × 12 months = 10,647,000,000,000 trillion naira ( per annum)

This is about 14% of our current budget 2026 add debt servicing provisions in same budget which currently stands at N15.8 tr.......that already gives you N25.4tr in a single year on pms subsidy and debt servicing......this is about 40% of our entire budget 2026.

Can Mr atiku pls explain how you will fund your other obligations for the year,recurrent and capital and he needs to have it in mind that the 2026 budget is still running a deficit of N23.85 tr........this leaves the total available revenue for the 2026 budget at less than N10tr.

I get tired of this trope of making it look like foreign investors are more important than local investors, local residents or local citizens. It is a phantom idea that money will come from outside as if those people coming from outside your country care about you. What are you in government for? Foreign investors or local residents?

We sit and lament that electricity generation in the country is terrible yet not everyone pays bills. But that's not the fault of Nigerians.

All the electricity distribution companies have consistently sabotaged governments metering programs. If every consumer had a prepaid meter, the issue of unpaid bills wouldn't arise.

The discos aren't telling the truth, they are under paying the gencos completely, there is hardly any home or business that gets electricity that doesn't pay atleast as far as the entire south is concerned......except maybe govt agencies or military and police barracks and offices and I don't see them racking up that difference running into billions in a 30 days month..

Subsidiesd transport schemes are easy to track,LASG owns LAMATA,just provide more buses and open more routes,fuel them and let passengers pay half the price they are currently paying......thats not beyond what any state govt can do......many would rather not drive to work of theire is already very efficient and comfortable public transportation.

Providing standard schools and equipping dem isnt rocket science, givt can make them very affordable for the masses,when tinubu was gov,many of the public schools got upgraded and pupils were even provided with books,desks and chairs and even free bus rides in some places.

Citizens need to statrt from somewhere and get our priorities right,citizens stood against subsidy removal in 12 and they won, citizens stood against the military being in power and they won,so what are tou yapping on all about.

There are givt subsidies all over the world that can be replicated,American and Europe agriculture is amongst the most subsidised in the world.

I thought you were smart and to my disappointment, its obvious you aren't half as I thought......subsidy removal on pms and currency floatation.....what were you expecting to happen to Nigeria inflation,it was expected to shoot up but will surely ease going forward,we already hit the threshold and our PPI is already improving and inflation itself is easing still as a result of the meticulous management of the situation by the tinubu govt.

We have already turned the corner and there isn't anymore grim reality for the economy as we are now quite stable and on the upward trajectory......gdp is expected to be doing 4% growth by next year and 6% going forward.

You can get angry all you want but this is the current reality.....work harder and smarter,find a value to add so you can end the hunger in your family

Lets do the maths pls......this was what made nnpcl unprofitable in the first place when gov under pays for crude produced and curbing its profitability.

Which ever way he intends to do it a commensurate value will be felt in the govts pocket that will have to reflect on the pump prices per liter.......dangote who is even ready to pay in full for the crude is often having challenges getting it let alone yoi who wants to pay half.

What atiku is postulating will even breed more corruption because you can never monitor it or have access to.....we then will go back to the era of scarcity and being held hostage by the oil cabal

Have you read the latest report on nigeria's daily fuel consumption.......it states we consume about 50m liters of fuel daily both locally produced and imported........do the math on how much subsidy govt would have been paying daily with the current cost at 1,350.

How much will prices come down to,will atiku bring it back to the pre tinubu rates of 250 naira a liter,that means he will be paying nothing less than 1k per liter in subsidy,kindly multiply that by 50m liters daily.......any subsidy regime that will come to the consumer higher than 500 to 600 naira makes no sense and even at that,atiku will still have to be forking out 650 naira on every liter.......do the math,where atiku wan see that kind money pay?

Instead of direct pms subsidy,why not push for policy advocacy that govt should rather make efficient and cheap transportation available.........lagos state for instance should provide more CNG mass transit busses at subsidised rates,about half the cost the masses are currently spending on transport.......also food trucks from the north can be subsidised by providing subsidised diesel or free diesel for them with tracking devices attached to monitor their movements also the multiple state levies they pay should be abolished or reduced.

Govt should provide standard public schools that will be affordable,they can serve as alternatives to the expensive private schools all over the place,this will make households able to save money they would have spent sending their children to private schools.

Health care,child and maternal health should be made free and a health scheme that is efficient and affordable, health insurance should be more accessible and our PHCs be better improved to provide cheaper health care to the masses.

The challenge is many of this things we mentioned falls within the purview of the state govs who should be compelled by the citizens to do more,if you are get cheap subsidised transport to work, your kids are attending cheap public schools,your wife and child can get affordable health care and food arrives at the market cheaper...... the govt would have done a lot to ameliorate the suffering of the people amd will have a far better effect then the burdensome pms subsidy regime and can be effectively tracked and assessed.
