Imagine how bitter and hateful the Lagos axis was that they flew out of their region to another region and chook mouth in their local affairs just to spite a sitting southern president.

What manner of bitter politics is that? No wonder their entrance to the national scene has brought nothing other than bitterness to the nation.

Bitter people can't produce anything good even if you give them dangote sugar
If it were to that easy, let your obi too fly into Kano and align as appropriate to spite tinubu.....let's see how successful he would be.
Politics › Re: Rivers Crisis: Edwin Clark Writes CJN, IGP by Lithiumite: 2:15pm On Nov 18, 2024
sirpharrell:
It is people like this Elder Edwin Clark that are misleading Governor Fubara. Where in the constitution did it state that members will IMMEDIATELY AND AUTOMATICALLY lose their seat if they defected to another political party?

Are the Rivers lawmakers the first people to defect in this country? I expected him to mention just one example of a lawmaker that immediately and automatically lose his seat upon defection. Even after the Rivers lawmakers, several lawmakers have defected in this country. Which of them lost their seat IMMEDIATELY AND AUTOMATICALLY?

This is where Governor Fubara shot himself in the foot. As long as no court of competent jurisdiction has declared their seats vacant, those guys are still members of the Rivers State House of Assembly. The failure to recognise this fact is what has led the Governor to make so many mistakes in breach of the constitution.
That was same way he mislead GEJ!!

Politics › Re: Labour Party’s Votes In The Last 5 Governorship Elections Held by Lithiumite: 10:26am On Nov 18, 2024
Bobloco:
The Labour Party has existed long before Peter Obi joined, and it will continue to exist after him. Peter Obi did not form the Labour Party.

The former governor of Ondo State, Olusegun Mimiko, won a governorship election on the platform of the Labour Party long before Peter Obi ever considered running for president, let alone joining the party.

So, this gaslighting attempt to make it seem like the Labour Party begins and ends with Peter Obi is misguided and will not succeed.
A complete distraction

The elections are long over, and when the election is over, governance begins .Tinubu is president. His "bolekaja" economic policies are causing untold hardships and pain for Nigerians.

The X user who posted this, and you who brought it here, should channel your frustrations and anger towards Tinubu. Peter Obi is not responsible for your frustrations and anger.
Bloody hypocrite....we all thought you were screaming ellupee was the next best thing after bole and fish......why are they failing so badly accross various states and regions,it means one thing and that's not having an effective structure.....and you are all the ones disturbing our peace and lying to yourselves that obi won the 2023 elections.....how,who,with which structure?

It isn't a big deal though. Night just mean the gubernatorial candidates are not popular.

It even happens in the same election cycle, APC lost Ebonyi at the presidential election but won the gubernatorial election

PDP lost presidential election in Enugu but won the gubernatorial election, same with Oyo.

Heck APC lost the presidential election in Edo but won 2 senate seats there
It's not same thing......you could see the representation across various regions....it's the structures that we are talking about......if anything we all expected LP to build on the popularity they already had by getting candidates up for the smaller elections.

LP shouldn't be about one ma alone, his ideology and philosophy should also reflect on other party members, that's if there was any in the first place.

When it comes to Governance Trump is no body's mate. Give it to him. What Trump did in his first term as POTUS is a testament to this, till the demonic fóolish Gay party democrat came into power and destroyed everything. Trump is the right man to fix everything now.

Sometimes I weep for the zoo. Democrat is not as worse as APC , Joe Biden is nothing bad as the fool in Aso rock. Joe Biden in terms of governance is zillion times better than the fraudulent thief of Iragbiji. DomPerignon:
Seyi Makinde and Bala Mohammed is the combo to watch out for.

Both are G7 alligned to Wike.

Atiku should stop wasting his time in PDP and join his Agulu girlfriend to look for another party to give them joint automatic ticket as President and VP nominees.

Bayelsa PDP is alligned to Makinde because Makinde is married to the daughter of former Governor Dickerson.

Rivers remains Wike.

PDP is about dead in Edo for a very long time and the few remaining there will follow the G7.

Rivers us still PDP and strongly under Wike. If in doubt, why you think the whole PDP rivers is at loggerheads with the betrayer Fubara.

Akwa Ibom is under Akpabio and the PDP there will do what Akpabio wants.

So the money bag states that fund the PDP are not going to support Atiku .

Atiku should start searching for another party before it's too late.

Maybe he should join LP.
You didn't mention delta....Bala Mohamed and Wike aren't in same camp, though they are both against atiku but is for different ends that even throws them more apart.....same for his state gov fintiri.

PDP or atiku has no strong base in Kano,Lagos and rivers.....Buhari had all 3 to come through in 2015 and 2 to come through 2015,tinubu also has all 3 govs to win the last election.

malali:
Collecting revenue without creating complementary jobs.....is akin to a genocide. Where do you expect the citizens to get money to pay the taxes ? Do you know the homeowners will transfer he cost to the tenants ? The unemployment rate in Nigeria is over 50% and getting worse, thats why JAPA is on the rise....So where exactly do you expect people to get this money from ?
If you have the resources to own a property, you must have the resources to pay taxes.....Lagos is already charging tenement rates with full compliance and heavens haven't fallen.

It's downright irresponsible for people to own properties, some owning several properties and not wanting to pay anything to govt ......there are people who have property they have no use of and it's of no use to the community either or govt, now people would learn to be more responsible with property ownership.....a lot of activities would come up in the real estate market as many would be forced to sell off the properties they can't pay taxes over.
Politics › Re: IMF: Property Taxes Can Help Nigeria, Others Develop by Lithiumite: 9:23am On Nov 13, 2024
malali:
I beg to differ. Tenement rates/Taxes cannot e deployed in a country with over 50% unemployment with the workforce all seeking visas to relocate abroad.
You will just make matters worse. Nigeria has its own peculiar problems that require peculiar solutions. You cannot keep adopting USA/UK solutions to a country with dissimilar attributes.

95% of people paying property tax in USA/UK have jobs or are on a form of government assistance.

PS:Please leave out tribal connotations from your comments, except you are a bigot.
If you would own properties you must be ready to pay taxes on them!! It's simple.....govt needs money and this money won't fall from the sky,we are a poor country as it is.

What I reckon with the IMF idea is the domestication of this revenue to the local government level where it can be used for development at that level ....there are heavily built up urban areas that lack basic amenities like roads,,schools and sports facilities, health care, security even public water.....many of these communities are already resulting to some self help initiatives which are never enough to do anything but if this revenue can be pulled to develop them,it is more than a welcome development.
Politics › Re: IMF: Property Taxes Can Help Nigeria, Others Develop by Lithiumite: 8:43am On Nov 13, 2024

The Neo-Colonialists will not stop till every single Nigerian is DEAD.

1-Remove oil subsidy, the country will get better

2-Float the Naira the economy will be perfect

3-Now they are advocating for property tax on every house.

Why did we vote for legislators when fiscal policies are implemented on the directive of IMF and World Bank ? Removal of fuel subsidy and floating the Naira without a legislative debate and agreement by majority constituents in the house of rep and senate.....was an illegal and impeachable act.
We know the ndi developers won't like this.....Lagos is already making so much from tenement rates but a state next door like Ogun state isn't making anything from the huge property revenue potential.

The good thing about the IMF suggestion on this is about domesticating it at the grassroot where revenues from this can be used to develop the local govts.
