You call underdevelopment sophistication? Abuja doesn't look like this because they want it that way. There is not enough demand for office space to make the city grow. A tall skyline means a city has strong companies that need huge amounts of office space to employ huge amounts of white collar workers. Abuja central business district (which is zoned for tall buildings) has been largely empty for decades. The only things being built there are government-owned buildings.

Also what is it with Africans and trees? While other races are building unique architecture to beautify their environment, Africans are worried about trees. If you love trees so much, go live in the forest. That's were savages belong.

While those that used to post gruesome images from other parts of Africa, and sometimes Haiti, on Niraland claiming it took place in Nigeria, have learned how to hide what they do there remains the fact that evidence remains their weak point. There is no evidence those pictures are from Nigeria.

Meanwhile, it’s obvious that the standard of Nigeria military and police training is falling. Nigerian training needs to be on par at least with that of the West, given that Nigeria experiences more actual combat situations. If in doubt about the falling standard, those charged with training should ask themselves would American, British, Chinese etc fall as easily to deviant scumbags as Nigeria forces personel are doing regularly these days it would seem

Nairobi

Abuja looks better. Nairobi looks like a ghetto, but I’m saying this only based on the pictures you posted. You're not that smart or imaginative if your idea of 'Better' is based on High-rise buildings. Reality may be different but the pictures suggest better quality of life in Abuja than Nairobi.

The Abuja pic looks lush and sophisticated while the Nairobi pic looks like an old-fashion, after-colonial-rule, 70’s African city. I do however agree that for the cost, if your figures are right, Abuja should be way better in terms of what it is trying to achieve in its design philosophy..

A sky-scraper sky-line may qualify as spectacular e.g. Dubai city Skyline but I’m not sure majority of people world wide would agree that a Dubai design philosophy is “Better” than a modern city philosophy with ascent on limiting tall buildings while concentrating on green spaces, fountains, and rivers. Besides trying to attain a spectacular reference, sky-scraper skyline may also suggest commerce and not quality of life.

Abuja needs some purple, lilac and white flouring tree breaking up the greens as well as lakes and fountains to complete what it appears Abuja planners are trying to achieve

PoliticsRe: Why Are Nigerian Villages So Ugly Compared To Other Countries? by Litmus: 1:01pm On Mar 29, 2021
Aconomist:
The biggest problem in Nigeria is that most of the people don't understand beauty and harmony. Everything in the country is monkey-ish and scatter-scatter. The people generally don't take time to beautify and decorate their living spaces -- leading to ugly environments wherever Nigerians inhabit.

Compare villages in Nigeria to other parts of the world. The first image is a typical Nigerian village. The second image is a village in Northern Europe.

Your post made me laugh, especially your first and second image comparisons. Beyond this, your post does not tell the whole story, which is typical when stories are told about Nigeria and Nigerians by foreigners that are either indignant (whites) that Nigerians don’t carry themselves like inferior beings but are liable to talk down to them or they (blacks) are hateful towards Nigerians because blacks tend to want to pull down other blacks that, rightly or wrongly, they perceive as better than they are.

The story you don’t tell in this case is the fact that Nigeria ethnic cultures are and were often more advanced than ethnic cultures you might find in other African nations. For example, the so-called Brown tin roofs that some mock Yourba tribes with, predates colonialism. I may be wrong, but I think this is correct. In order words, these Yourba Nigerians have been living in what you’d recognise as modern towns before the whites came to Africa as colonisers. During this time, Africans in other nations were living in mud huts and in many cases are still living in mud-hut-villages today. The Benin people of Nigeria also where living in comparative modern structures compared to the rest of Africa.

Today, you’d be had pressed to find primordial type villages in any apart of Nigeria. I believe there are some in the North and maybe some along the Nigeria Cameroon highland borders. However, generally, unlike much of Africa where mud-hot type villages abound just outside the main cities, this does not exist in Nigeria. Villages even in the most remote parts of Nigeria have evolved into towns. The state system Nigeria practices has resulted in deep-reaching urbanisation. Sure, many of these state capitals and rural towns could do with better infrastructure but Nigeria is a more indebt developed nation than 90 percent of black African nations, if not all save South Africa perhaps.

Their greedy and selfish leader does not spend money to buy weapon for his group.
He deserves an iota of respect - if grudgingly given -for not spending money buying weapons. This is if he does not and has never invested in buying weapons. if you are not an imperialists tool for the disruption of economic activities in any given African nation considered threat to the West interests in subordinate Africa, then you’re in better standing investing in education, trade, skills etc for the youth.

From this day, don’t call yourself Nigerian, don’t return to Nairaland, which is a Nigerian platform, leave Nigeria and don’t return. Stop disgracing yourself!
Foreign AffairsRe: Idriss Deby: Boko Haram's Resilience Is Unprecedented by Litmus:
owobokiri:
Read carefully:

1)Chad and her blood gulping president know everything about Boko Haram.
This man has been fighting and killing since the 70s. Fought with Nigeria, fought with Libya, sent rebels into the heart of Khartoum some years back.. Idris was born to war...

2)The French and the Americans have some troops stationed in Chad!
Americans have a base in Niger with new facilities for drones!
Under Jonathan, the Nigerian government allowed the Americans to fly their drones across the north east airspace to "gather intelligence" on Boko! Very naive if you ask me, .. Someone might be telling Boko Haram about troops movements!

3)Boko seldoms disturbs Chad!
The Chadian president used to be the army chief in the 80s under Hussien Habre before turning against him. He was the army head when Nigeria fought a very swift but brutal war with Chad over her incursions into Nigeria! Buhari was commanding Nigerian troops then..

4)Locals in north eastern villages have CONSISTENTLY complained of helicopters dropping supplies to Boko Haram fighters in the bush!
According to them, the pilots are mostly whites!
One such helicopter crashed and actually a white was caught, dollars too! Leaks revealed Turkeys involvement. Countries loyal to America refused to sell weapons to Nigeria under Jonathan following Americas instructions..

5) IMPORTANT:
The French are increasingly worried about Nigerias "growth", especially under Jonathan and are thinking that a strong regional super power in west africa will undermine her amazingly lucrative imperialist ventures here! They're thinking of the future here and might be toying with the idea of balkanizing Nigeria..
Idris Derby is a stooge of the French, just like Eyadema, Biya, Bongo, Nguesso, Quattara, and most presidents of French speaking African countries..

6) IMPORTANT AGAIN:
Actually, Nigeria is now totally encircled by western forces, but because we have been very unfortunate with a series of dumb governments, this issue is seldom discussed.
There are French military bases in Cameroon, Niger, Chad and Benin Republic, together with the AFRICOM base in Niger.. All our neighbors! Pretending they're fighting isis, while Boko Haram grows..

Reach your own conclusions but mine is simple:
Boko Haram is a typical western "state destabilizing project" unleashed to subvert the abilities of a growing economy to challenge the neo-colonial status quo! Such projects are not new. Remember the Ortegas in South America? They were fighting insurgents like this, just that it's easier to achieve the goals here with religious zealots.. Shekau doesn't even know he's a stooge. Not sure he knows where his weapons are coming from..But the presidents of Niger, Chad and all these French West African colonies are aware.
What's more? Most of them are getting some crude oil stolen from Nigeria and so, do find the project relatively rewarding! They can't object anyways, if they do, there will be a coup the next week...
It amuses and then saddens me when, every now and then, these terrorists sponsors facilitate attacks in Cameroon, Chad and Niger just to mislead individuals from seeing the obvious truths that you have pointed put. What saddens me is how cheaply they view African lives that they can go to these lengths. Although it shouldn’t surprise anyone given the deaths they are willing to inflict on Nigerians just so that France retains colonial dominance and exploitation of French West Africa and the rest of the West over the rest of Africa. An even greater shame is that many of these Africa nations in the neighbourhood know what’s going on and endorse it, in many instances, just for the sake of petty short-term economic benefits.

Africa remains largely enslaved and Africans largely willingly so

PoliticsRe: Boko Haram Throws Maiduguri Into Darkness Again, Blows Up Power Tower by Litmus: 8:25pm On Mar 27, 2021
Borno needs to calculate the cost of investing in PowerStations or power distribution points - in addition to the cost of rebuilding them when destroyed by terrorists (since destroying state apparatus may be the new sponsored terrorists tactics) - against the cost of helping homes and business adopt self-sufficient solutions such as Solar Energy
Foreign AffairsRe: Battle Field Discussion (picture/video) Of African Military . by Litmus:

The first taliban war was with Russia and they went home defeated.

The United states have violated human rights laws in Afghanistan and never defeated them, today, the US wants negotiations with talibans.

the US has invaded countries without the UN security council approval, do you think they care about human rights. How come they haven't destroyed and defeat the talibans with billions spent on sophisticated weapons.

For nazi Germany, if you can't defeat the idea, you have lost the war, those who believe in those ideas today are forming political groups to gain power.

The allies defeated Germany but not the idea.

It takes more than weapons to win a war.
I addressed the bolded, I stated, quote: The allied powers defeated Nazi Germany but today many hold supremacists ideas close to their hearts and minds. "As long as such ideas remain in their hearts and minds, so be it, the world can live with this"

In other words, as I also stated, "you can defeat the physical expression of those ideas in battle" as the allied powers defeated Nazis in world war 2 and Sri Lanka defeated Tamil Tigers in 2009. They can keep as many silly ideologies as they like in their heads where it does not hurt others. I think it was Aristotle who stated something along the lines that Evil men are those that carry out what others are content to dream.
Foreign AffairsRe: Battle Field Discussion (picture/video) Of African Military . by Litmus: 5:00pm On Mar 27, 2021
motymop:
But it is amazing, how the Talibans were never defeated.

First the Russians fought them, the United states and the world fought them, they were never defeated.

This made me realise that you can't defeat an idea...now the United states wants to broker peace with the talibans through negotiations.

Why didn't they think about that in the first place, the lost of lives will have been averted.

The tamil tigers were another determined militant groups who have birth to sucide bombing, it is interesting that after 24 years, the former president of sri lanka was able to defeat them and you are right that the present battle is the battle of the mind and heart....it is very hard to defeat an idea.
Islamic Terrorism can be defeated. United States can defeat Taliban. Many nations including Nigeria can defeat Islamic terror, Geneva Conventions and associated human rights are the constraining factors. US could obliterate the Taliban if US wanted to forgo all the advantages and disadvantages of doing so and ignored domestic and international opinion. It is obvious truth that you cannot defeat Ideas that people hold dear in their heads and hearts by force; however, you can defeat the physical manifestation of those ideas in battle. Example, Nazi racist ideology held in the hearts and mind of supremacists. Even you mentioned Tamil tigers defeat by Sri Lanka government. The allied powers defeated Nazi Germany but today many hold supremacists ideas close to their harts and minds. As long as such ideas remain in their hearts and minds, so be it, societies can live with that.
