Family / Re: My Wife Said No More Sex I Can Go Outside Make Kids by livgenius: 9:46pm On Aug 12, 2020
Lots of different options here:
For your wife, there are various contraceptive options to make sure she doesn't get pregnant again: implant, IUD, IUS, pills, injections.
If you want more children then use a surrogate. Sperm from you, egg from your wife, implanted in another woman to carry. Still your child

Education / Re: What Do First Class Graduates Do Different From Other 2.1 Students? by livgenius: 7:07pm On Mar 23, 2019
I had a 1st class so this is my advice

1. Be strategic in choosing your electives. Choose according to your strengths. For example don't pick a numerical course if you can't do maths to save your life.

2. No what % each coursework, test, exam contributes to your gpa. That way you know what you need to score to get the GPA you want

3. Always attend lectures. Lecturers will usually unconsciously hint on areas of focus especially during exam time. And if a lecturer says something like that, don't take it lightly

4. Be strategic. Every course is tested in a certain way. For example Don't spend too much time cramming theory in a course that is tested by mathematical questions

5. Not every textbook is required. Focus on the ones that explain things in short straight forward ways.

6. Never skip any topic. Even if you dont have time to read and understand in depth, glance through at least once so if it comes out in your exam last last you go get 1 mark. Every mark adds up

7. Start studying at least 1 month to your exam. So you can revise everything at least twice. And never never do overnight reading before an exam. You will be too tired to write well

And banks are challenging it because they like your grand parents?... nah.. that's what banks like first bank live on... money of dead, money unclaimed...

Banks are challenging it to avoid setting a precedent. Once this case succeeds it sets a precedent that any future govt will rely on

Business / Re: BVN: Banks Engage Law Firm To Appeal Court Ruling by livgenius: 7:28am On Nov 07, 2017
All accounts without BVN are blocked. No transactions can be done on those accounts. The Fed Govt is hiding behind BVN to try to steal money from individuals. How will you feel if your old grand parent has their money seized because they are too frail to go to the bank to register for BVN? Or you live abroad and they seize your money because you have not been able to do bvn? This is a precedent to test whether the govt can seize things by court order. If the banks and CBN don't challenge it, very soon they will move to other things. It may not affect you today because you have BVN but when it affects you tomorrow you won't know this BVN issue was the beginning.

Education / Re: How To Graduate With First Class In Any Tertiary Institution by livgenius: 3:02pm On Oct 25, 2017
For me the most important tip is to know how each course is graded. Know what percentage each assignment or exam carries towards the overall mark so you know where to pay special focus

And for your exams, know the style of questions. Are the questions more of writing, multiple choice, mathematical (for numeric courses) so you are not busy cramming definition in a course where you will be solving numbers all through

Attend every single class. And takw note of any hint the lecturer drops. He sets the question so he knows where the focus is.

These are what worked for me

aamstih:
A quick one pls, is connection the same thing as referral or could both terms be used interchangeably?

Connection is when someone gets a job over a more qualified or equally qualified candidate because he knows someone.
Referral is when you are well qualified for the role and someone that knows this send your cv to whoever is hiring for them to make a decision without trying to influence the outcome.

When I finished NYSC, I got 4 jobs in big organisations without knowing anybody. 1 foreign bank and 3 out of the big 4 accounting firms. The bank job was even waiting for me before I finished NYSC. Within 3 months after I resumed work at one of the big four, I left to an even better job at another foreign bank. All these just by submitting cv and going for test and interviews.
Don't let anybody fool you that there are no jobs. They are there. Dont let anybody fool you that your degree class doesn't matter. It does. It gets you past the initial screening at the very least. Tailoring your cv to each job. And knowing how to behave at interviews. Confidence and a hint of cockiness and of course you must know what you are talking about. People go for interviews
without researching the job or the organisation
How will you be successful?

I started from a 120k job and moved to an over 400k job without knowing anybody

Illiterates.

Ive been in violent turbulence for close to an hour on international flights. We just like to bash anything Nigerian.

Aircrafts that fly at night how do they operate if the pilot needs to see? Weather can change at anytime. Aircrafts are designed to withstand serious turbulence with no problems.

My friend had a similar issue and he end up spending close to about 1.5million like it was all his fault. Police own was like 200,000 to get his car back. Just imagine someone who doesn't have a dim. it is an expressway not even a major road. the way some people even cross the road self sometimes they fear me. i was going to igando and i was seeing people strolling while cars are on high speed. i just smh.. after a car hit them now they will now be saying it is the drivers fault. NEGLIGENCE IS WHAT KILLS MOST PEOPLE TRY TO CROSS. JUST WAIT TILL THE ROAD IS CLEAR ENOUGH FOR YOU TO RUN TO THE OTHER SIDE IF NO PEDESTRIAN BRIDGE.

Or you'll be driving and people will be darting across the road right underneath a pedestrian bridge. Yes this happens all the time

People who do hit and run. How Tf do dey live with themselves? Thinking they might have killed someone. Damn! Humans are fvcked! Quick recovery to them. Karma will take place tho.

Sometimes drivers don't stop when they hit people because they may get killed for no reason by bystanders that didn't even see what happened. One day at about 8pm I suddenly saw a man strolling in the middle of Gbagada expressway towards me. For clarity, he was not crossing the road, he was jogging in the middle of the road towards oncoming vehicles. I had to swerve and brake hard, the car behind me almost ran into me. My breaks smelt of burnt rubber after that. If I hit him you think I will wait? Again just two days ago people were waiting to cross. A lady suddenly darted into the road on front of me and I almost hit her. She was now telling me sorry as if I'm the one that almost committed suicide. I have numerous examples. Sometimes the pedestrian are to blame.

I see. You live with your parents so housing, feeding & transport is taken care of, by them. Just curious. What kind of figures do entry-level graduates get for housing? You made it seem as if your own experience holds true for most banks.

I have a car so my transport is taken care of myself.

I'm away from the house all day during d week and i only eat at home on sundays. I also pay some of the bills at home

Housing varies. Depending on the bank. Can be anything from 300k to 700k paid in january every yr. Apart from ur normal salary

Entry-level graduates hardly get anything substantial from profit-sharing, at the end of the year. Graduate programmes are usually a feature of multinational banks. Very few local banks have this programme. What kind of upfront payments are entry-level graduates entitled to? And how much is it? And in 1.5 years you saved 5 million?? shocked Do you live with a relative and do not pay rent, or do you work in the forex dept of a bank and you do back door deals? Just asking.

They can get housing for example. It differs by bank

I live with parents. But how much will rent be? Max 300k for a one bedroom in a good area. I don't work in treasury. I earn a very good salary

Someone is talking to u from his personal experience and you call him a liar

Take home every month may be lower but when you add allowances, upfront payments, profit sharing, u will definitely make up to that a month.

And bank pass bank. The bank I work at, entry level make up to 200k a month on average

Also some banks have better graduate programmes than others. Graduate programme employees make at least 400k per month on average where I work. I have only worked for 1.5 years and I have savings over N5m

Sometimes remember that you don't know everything and try to listen when people try to educate you

Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Exams Officer At British Council Or Assistant Registrar At WAEC? Informed Advice by livgenius: 6:03am On Oct 13, 2016
Go for the British Council position.

The conducive work environment is second to none.

BC is an international organisation with laid down policies and procedures and you can be sure you'll be promoted when due

The level of exposure you'll get is better than you'll get at waec. The job description may not seem international but you cannot work there without interactions with foreign colleagues

An indefinite contract is a permanent job. Don't be fooled by the terminology

The pay is better than waec and will only keep getting better. You will not earn more at waec than at BC
