grayline:Grayline, who do you this, sir? ![]() |
joseph1832:Lol.. But that's why the renga rules compliance criterion carries a mark of 50 points. Let me ask you a question, sir. If one of the contestants wrote their renga with a 5-7-5 8-8 which should be 5-7-5 7-7, what do we do? Do we disqualify them? It's almost impossible to have about half or more of the contestants come with a slight slip that would practically make their piece not to be called a renga, sir. Do we disqualify them all? Do we disqualify everyone who added an extra syllable or removed one from his haiku? Bros...you harsh small eh ![]() Any two poets that come to the table with a completely correct renga in syllable count and structure will be getting their complete 50 in that criterion, sir, and all slips bring deductions. |
joseph1832:Good morning, Joseph. No, contestants that submit poems that aren't rengas won't be disqualified. The 'Renga Rules Compliance' criterion which carries 50 out of the 100 obtainable marks is there to cater for that. They might just score a zero in that. And, a week was awarded in the first round to cater for those whom it will take some time to get in touch with their partners. I agree, though, that the time awarded in the second round where contacts have been established between all pairs shouldn't have been that much, and that, by God's grace will be corrected by next year's collaboration contest. |
What if they are passing big judgments? |

JigsawKillah:SAW! *buries head in holy water. |
funlord:Funlord, I didn't claim to be an authority in the game. I only aired my sincere view about you being fielded as a judge. So, why are all those questions about how many battles I've won popping up? So, I need to win a certain amount of battles before I can air my view about you not being competent to be a judge? I have better things to do with my time than searching up your old threads, brother. This is the last reply I'm typing for your sake on this thread. |
joseph1832:Rey actually knows his onions when it comes to the art, though. You shouldn't judge with that. |

Kr0ne, I sign in as the first battler. ![]() |
Kr0ne, I personally don't support _funlord's potential admission as a judge for the tournament too, although, not due to any personal beef. _Funlord has never had a single battle on here. He has only voted in a few battles, if he has voted in any at all. No one of us can really vouch for him as one who is knowledgeable enough about battle rap. To field him as a judge in a tournament as important as the KOP seems to me like nothing but a gamble. It should be noted, though, that I am totally uneducated when it comes to the traditions that surround this particular contest, as I wasn't here when the judges were being chosen last year, so if my words hit the audience like arrows drawn from the quiver of ignorance, you shouldn't do much in blaming me. However, though, I believe that a judge should not only be one that is knowledgeable with the criteria. I believe that a judge should be someone who can maturely handle rough situations without external intervention. _Funlord has never stricken me as one who possesses enough skills in this department. |
TrapLORD:Man, I'd been wondering myself all these days. Moderator breaking forum rules to bring down an enemy? Airmark, if time reach, come ban person say he chat for FFR. ![]() |
Ante Bellum Before the war, we hate and we love... When the bombs go off, it’s with a flash of light and a splash of colour on a vibrant night. Youthful revellers, relaxing at ease, enjoying a city which is eager to please. But that flash of light, cruelty belies, a message of terror, of life denied. A challenge to liberty and freedom of speech; no less than a challenge to love’s outreach. Hatred is sewn in a bed of need, it flowers in fear, but is nurtured by greed. Love begets that which hatred abhors and likewise hatred poisons that which love should cause. A boy of ten in a foreign field harvesting crops with a pitiful yield listens in silence to a drone overhead to the humdrum hum of a family dead. So what choice do we have in our liberty’d lands? Should we suffer attacks at our enemy’s hands? Or fight fire with fire, an eye for an eye, send soldiers to fight, to kill and to die? Or should we take the hardest of paths; ask the world to bear witness and learn from our past? To turn the cheek, and refuse to react? With violence, and hatred and force, inexact? Instead carry a message of peace and respect, education and tolerance and in every aspect; improve the lives of the children, let them share in our wealth. In short, with arms open, should we love hatred to death? 17/9/15 |
The Common Things The common things that make life worthwhile, Like the sparkling of a baby’s smile, Or the thread of hope that his presence brings, That binds each soul to share common things. The look of love in a young girl’s face As her father’s touch; wipes away the trace Of the tears she shed for our fallen doves At the hands of those, with no look of love. The pain of grief in a mother’s heart As she mourns for those who are torn apart By the sense of loss for a life made brief, She will bear for all, her pain of grief. The helping hand that is reaching out In some small way, to turn hate about By works of good in a desperate land; May we all reach out, with a helping hand. The common things that we humans share May they forever be brought to bear; The touch of love, the hope that clings To a helping hand, sharing common things. 14/9/15 |
JigsawKillah:Yes, brother. |
JigsawKillah:Yes, brother. |
Threedots:Hehe. ![]() You'll know all of them the moment the competition ends. They want to remain anonymous till the end of it. |
JigsawKillah:You can submit before, but not later than 11:59pm on the 24th. |
Threedots:Yes, sir, because naturally, rengas are never written by one poet. |
JigsawKillah:We were already two days behind schedule. I didn't want to further waste time by creating another platform on which we would decide which two of the four pairs that tied would qualify. |
JigsawKillah:The final 7 won't be separated. We have 9 pairs in the final, sir. |
