What’s the earliest appointment date in Lagos?

CallMeByMyName:
Good morning folks, my cousin is currently in the US on a B1/B2 visa. He got an offer already in public Health Oklahoma State University, can he switch/change his B1/B2 visa to F1 while in the US.

He doesnt want to go back to Nigeria, the B1/B2 is still valid, and he wants to change the status here in the US to F1. Please anyone suggestion, and guidance on how to change from visit visa to student visa within the USA.

Please advise. Thanks

“If you would like to change your status through USCIS, then you will need to reach out to your SEVP-certified university, or language program for Form I-20 (“Certificate of Eligibility for Nonimmigrant Student Status”). In this form, the school’s Designated School Official (DSO) should mark ‘change of status’ as the Issue Reason.

Next, you will need to pay the I-901 Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) fee. Lastly, you will need to file Form I-539 (“Application to Extend/Change Nonimmigrant Status”) to USCIS, and pay the fees for filing and biometrics.

Once you have filed Form I-539, you will need to wait for USCIS to respond. While you are waiting, however, you will need to make sure that your original visitor status through your B-1/B-2 visa is still valid”

The link is not working, so I am not part of the Whatsapp group. I will advise you keep checking; they recently release new dates. The available appointment dates used to be in 2026 but the last time I checked I saw a lot of appointments dates that start from May 2025 dates.

Is the earliest date you talked about for Abuja or Lagos?

adelawry:

First log into your page and see if the "reschedule" option appears for you. If you have never rescheduled, then you should have the option. So, yes, you can reschedule but the earliest available date as at today is May 22, 2025. However, there is a possibility of getting date in September 2024 but extremely difficult and chances are slim.

As at 2022 when you purchased your MRV, you could reschedule 3 times. But right now, you can only reschedule once. I do not know if you have the 3 times option or the one time reschedule option. I would think it should be based on the updated platform and not a function of when you paid visa fee. so not sure about that.

Hey 🤠

** Look at the opinions of people who want to dominate Nairaland ?? Adding salt to the injuries of a distressed individual .

1. I read the comment of @spanishmilf and walked away , knowing that he is only good in selling stolen iPhones and other gadgets . He put iPhone 11 for sell at 250k (NGN) in this same Nigeria he is condemning as a suffering nation .

2. To my surprise , @fealessfang came up with the above opinion , rusbishing Nigeria to a nation where someone coming from the United States cannot even make it . Is that the advice you will give any wealthy Americans who is willing to come and establish in Nigeria??

3. The OP is as good as an American because he has lived all his life (perhaps in American streets) the way he narrated as a result of parental failures . I knew he needed the help of a Clinical Psychologist (because he might also be doing drug) but I did not want to sound insulting, hence i twisted it to a guidance counselor .

4. Here you are making jest of him and making fools of yourselves ( @fealessfang and @spanishmilf ) that he would suffer in Nigeria where people are still building mansions in Lekki, Magodo, buying expensive cars , and sending their children to Covenant University , American University of Nigeria , UnilaG etc and where business managers are still acquiring properties .

5. Truthfully. There is inequalities in the distribution of opportunities and wealth in Nigeria as a result of (some of) our past leaders failures . Yet Nigeria is still a wealthy nation with good population to succeed in reasonable businesses . God Bless Nigeria .

Best Wishes 🙏

What are the strong fundamental stocks you can recommend? Thanks
yMcy56:

Bros, seems you're a billionaire .......nah everything recommended you dey buy? shocked

........and to say that you always dash NSE money self .......e be like say I go need some loan from you oooo. tongue

Think it will be better you just pump your money on sound fundamental stocks and be collecting dividends yearly..........while you retain small portion, say 10% or 5% (depending on your pocket) of total fund for JIJO biz, this way, you'll limit the extent of jumping around in all stocks.
It's also good to always ask questions if you're not very sound in carrying out due diligence.......

One of the issues with Ellah Lakes is illiquidity. Sometimes ago, the directors holding unto it were told to release some for free float but I don't think it was followed thru by SEC or they're not mandated to relinquish some shares.......not very sure again.

If you must jump around as a newbie maybe, try and be buying fundamental ones at least.......with this you can convert to medium/long term if it's not meeting up with the target..........just my humble opinion anyway.

@Good day All,

I don't know much about Nigeria stocks, my quick technical analysis doesn't make alot of sense with what I know. Most stocks do have enough volume and have increase for much for the past years. Currently I have some unused funds I don't want to keep in my savings account. What are the long term stocks you can recommend, I thought of buying Guinness, Seplat, PZ, Dangcem, Holleywell, MTNN, GTBank, and JBERGER.

Note, these stocks are going to be in my portfolio for a very long time

Thanks for your feedback

The Department of Civil, Construction, and Environmental Engineering at Marquette University invites PhD and Masters applicants to join Dr. Walter McDonald and Dr. Anthony Parolari on a number of recently funded projects related to real-time control of stormwater systems and monitoring of green stormwater infrastructure. Project descriptions are provided below.

Evaluating and proposing engineering, policy, and legal options to guide real-time control (RTC) of stormwater infrastructure. The project is funded through the NSF Water Equipment and Policy Industry/University Cooperative Research Center (I/UCRC) located in Milwaukee, WI and presents a unique opportunity to collaborate with academic, water industry, and utility partners. The graduate research assistant will work alongside a Marquette law student to evaluate options for integrating real-time control of stormwater infrastructure into existing engineering regulatory criteria and legal structures. The students’ primary role will be to evaluate the response of real-time controls to proposed design criteria through rainfall-runoff models. Preference will be given to candidates with backgrounds in hydrologic modeling, programming, and/or urban stormwater management.
Low-cost real-time controls to improve volume and peak flow mitigation of green infrastructure. The main goal of this project is to develop a low-cost real-time control system that can augment green infrastructure practices to improve volume and peak flow mitigation. The graduate research assistant will work on real-time control development (hardware, software, power, etc.) and field implementation of controls within green infrastructure practices. Strong candidates will have a background in stormwater management and/or electrical and mechanical systems.
Evaluating green infrastructure performance through continuous monitoring. The goal of this project is to monitor multiple green stormwater infrastructure practices in order to quantify their long-term performance, identify limiting variables in meeting volume reduction goals, and develop improved metrics for volume retention and peak flow rates of green infrastructure. The graduate research assistant will develop the monitoring plan, maintain monitoring equipment, and collect and analyze data. Preference will be given to candidates with a background in environmental monitoring, stormwater modeling, and/or green stormwater infrastructure.

We are seeking highly motivated individuals with the ability to work across disciplinary and institutional boundaries. In addition to the desired project-specific qualifications, the successful candidates will have a Bachelors or Masters degree in civil and environmental engineering or other related field, and excellent written and oral communication skills.

The positions may start as early as January 2018 but candidates for Fall 2018 are encouraged to apply. Interested candidates should send a statement of interest and a resume to Dr. Walter McDonald (walter.mcdonald@marquette.edu), as well as complete a graduate school application at http://www.marquette.edu/grad/future-apply.php/.

Well-done Boss,

Been reading your comments, seems you have experience with graduate admission,i have a few questions to ask you please!

1.I studied Accounting, can i get admission with funding, i graduated with 2.2, i know its upto 3. on naija scale of 5.0,i haven't seen my transcript, so i made the calculations my self, am serving by November, i only have statement of result and no cgpa is written on it.

Notthing is impossible just that you need to identify with many schools/faculty to know maybe they have fund for you

2. Will i write GRE, Toefl and Sat all at once to stand a chance of getting funded by the school i apply to and what grades should i aim to stand a chance in all three exams?

You don't need SAT since you are going for graduate studies. Don't just apply for GRE and TOEFL but ace it to stand a funding chance.

3.what are my chances of remaining in the USA after my graduation?I don't want to come back to Nigeria, ever!

I will be worry of getting here first before thinking of that.

4.Am looking at September 2018,when should i start applying for Admission?

Most times preparation is a year to entrance year, so for you the time is now. Register for standardized exams and get your transcript ready. Once you have done that, submit your application on time like before Jan 2018

5.I have this uncle in Missouri, do you think is better i apply to a university in Missouri in terms of Accommodation so as to stay with him,his family and other unforseen expenses?

is he ready to accommodate you? does he stay close to the campus? I suggest you don't start by thinking of getting help from anyone.

6.This my personal Hustle, my parents don't have much money to help me out, what are my chances of ever succeeding, i know some people here are from not so rich family.

That's why you need to ace your GRE and TOEFL in order to get a tuition waiver plus monthly stipend anything short of that may make your life miserable for you if you don't have sufficient money here.

Thanks, patiently waiting for your reply

I am looking for a student to pursue a PhD in Geology within the Department of Geosciences and Geological and Petroleum Engineering at Missouri Science and Technology. Research can focus on either (1) water-rock interactions in alluvial aquifers, or (2) the evolution of brines in petroleum-generating systems. The position comes with a research assistantship and full tuition waiver. The successful applicant should have prior research experience in the field and laboratory and must possess excellent communication and writing skills.

Interested students should contact Dr. David Borrok (borrokd@mst.edu) prior to submitting an application. Applications from women, military veterans, individuals with disabilities, and members of other traditionally underrepresented groups are encouraged.

I am looking for a graduate student to work on questions relating to sedimentology, stratigraphy, geochemistry, and/or invertebrate paleontology of Cretaceous-Paleogene age deposits in India. The position is funded using a mix of RA and TA funding, with opportunities for internal scholarships and fellowships. Field work in India is an essential component of this project. Applications are needed by the end of September.

A successful candidate will have performed well in several relevant classes like Sedimentology, Stratigraphy, Geochemistry, or Invertebrate Paleontology. They must have field work experience, either as part of a research project or through a geological field course, and experience in challenging field locations is a plus. Research experience, good writing skills, and publication records will also be viewed favorably.

Interested students should contact Dr. Tom Tobin (ttobin@ua.edu) prior to submitting an application. Students from underrepresented demographics in geological sciences are encouraged to apply.
