word? u mean the N95 actually sold more than the iPhone is europe? duh!

the iPhone is an exclusive club thing, u wouldn't even be able 2 use it on another network other than the official ones (AT&T, O2, Orange, etc) if not for the hacks, so why won't the N95 sell more? You cannot use sales as a discriminant when talking about the better device, sorry.

Neo;

let me know these:

Firmware version.
PdfViewer version.

Did you refresh sources before installing?

You may need to first uninstall PdfViewer, then refresh sources, update installer (if it's not version 3.01), and then reinstall PdfViewer. I propose that you have a much older version.

Mine is version 0.03

i use PDFViewer for PDF docs I have had on my laptop, and which I regularly use as reference.

Well, now since there's a file:// protocol fix for the Safari, you can use the Safari plugin, but PDFViewer serves its purpose well. I didn't bother with the PDF/DOC/XLS Viewer because of the extras. I don't want a web-server running on my phone, and certainly not PHP.

u need 2 keep your PDF docs in /var/root/Media/PDF (note the caps, case-sensitive of course).

besides the /Applications directory should only contain apps.

with java? well, i'm thinking java MIDlets, i'm more of a business software oriented person, and as an architect, i would like 2 develop apps that i know can be widely supported with minimal need for porting, then i would simply be able 2 use the same app i developed for other phones that support the CLDC/MIDP.

i have not had 2 flash my bb since i've been using the ZiPhone but what i noticed was, once u've used the ZiPhone, the phone stays unlocked. As in if u do a restore, u will find that your foreign SIMs will still be recognized (even though the phone is no longer jailbroken). It's like a bird in a cage, and locked in chains. The bird's locks have been taken off, but it's still in the cage. this has been attributed to the method used by geohot, which several other unlock utils are based on.

they owe a lot 2 him, and he owes a LOT more to them,

i was on the #iphone IRC channel when he came in 2 beg for the secpack, the dev team had extracted it way back, and by giving it 2 him, he was able 2 collaborate with some others 2 unlock the 1.1.2.

DVD Jon has since moved on to other endeavors,

i am actually more interested in having java on the iphone, if sun had not stepped up, i was thinking of porting the jvm.

and with the 1.2.0 update, i think what i will do is to first restore to 1.1.4, then virginize (or simplify things by using the revert function of ZiPhone to reverse the jailbreak/unlock) so as to remove the bb patch, before trying to update to 1.2.0.

no, it was collaborative work, but he does deserve kudos; not many 18 year olds know what he knows.

i guess because it's beta they didn't bother 2 include the updates for bb and bl,

& probably boots faster cos the processor clock speed was increased, as u may know, the processor in the 1.x.x series can actually clock higher than it's presently clocked, the speed was slightly raised in the 1.1.2 upgrade as a matter of fact.

how does geohotz get credit for pwnage?
Phones › Re: Linux On Iphone? by logica(m): 6:15pm On Apr 07, 2008
since the early days we've had BSD on the iPhone anyway, but i guess the BL was never pwned @ the lowest level b4.
Phones › Re: Iphone: Is It Really Worth All The Hype? by logica(m): 5:45pm On Apr 07, 2008
i actually cannot even try it yet since pwnage for windows isn't out yet, it's most likely buggy because the jailbreak/unlock code designed for the 1.x.x series is being used, it's probably more stable with pwnage.

nope texaspete, i haven't.

has anybody tried the 1.2.0 (dubbed the 2.0) firmware yet? i'm about 2 give it a shot.

anyway back 2 the list of "complaints", i will only respond to those that require any response:

Ringtones:
http://www.wired.com/software/coolapps/news/2007/09/ringtone_hacks

with this hack u can make your own ringtones, from the date of the article, u can c how long this has been known.

Bluetooth:
it does have bluetooth support, but what's missing is OBEX or some other protocols based on bluetooth, that permit file transfer. I really don't c the need for OBEX when most recent phones have WIFI support.

well, i was hoping this topic would draw more replies,

"iPhone is only 399 if you're getting it as a 3 yr contract with AT AND T if not, it cost 700 bucks",

um, where did u get that from?

OK, it seems PMs cannot be sent on this forum. Ghenghis, if you are still looking for Java Developers you need to provide a communication medium be it email address or phone number. And are you looking for employees or consultants/contractors or either?

Well, how do u want to be contacted? Send me a PM if you are serious.

Thanks.
