My Aburo who is on 5 years marriage visa was turned down recently because of her status. If your relation is on a 5 yr marriage visa then she must have married an EU/EEA national,if she spent 2-3 years already in UK she could qualify as a Home Student to study Nursing. I must confess the rules/regualtions and procedures keep on changing every month depending on who complains about what in the House of Commons. My wife only had LTR when she was admitted to do Nursing in 2004 (not even ILR) and so did many of her friends/colleagues,albeit,its more stricter nowadays. I may project my views to be "bookish" because as an insider I use rules to make decisions and would rarely go outside the box. I would tell you "why its not possible". If I was an outsider (an immigration consultant/solictor), I would be telling my clients "why its possible" and try and think outside the box (i.e extraneous or compassionate grounds). Deportation ? Thats a sensitive area. |
The Churches in Nigeria are regulated by the Corporate Affairs Commission who registers them, they should activate their powers and regulate the financial accounts of all charitable organisations including churches. They should operate the same way the Charity Commission operates in the UK and it should not be left to the EFCC to do. |
Oga Akolawole, I know you are waiting for my response Where is Brazillian going to get £7000 to pay University fees? Most Brazillians come to UK to study English Language as Short Term students under 6 months and do not require visa's to do it.Hence, they would not be paying your £7000 University fee's mentioned. Any UK University that has no sizeable naija no be UniversityDoes that include Oxford,Cambridge and London Business School? Did i see you mentioning Nursing student.Oga Akolawole, I do not need to do my research and I do not have to copy and paste Home Office Managed Migration Intelligence reports availiable to me here to satisfy you or back up my post. Nursing students have a separate visa category and the UK government have been giving grants to student nurses, even to those who do not qualify as home students as a deliberate policy. The Phillipines,Zimbabwe,Nigeria and Ghana are the highest beneficiaries. Even from an on-the-job perspective I should be able to give you the same statistics, its what I do for a living mate. |
I use First Bank Plc, mainly because I used to work there in Nigeria and at their London Office, as an ex-staff I get First Class customer services as I always get my money in the managers office within 3-5 minutes. This Elephant will never fall, |
just sent you an email. What brand of jeans will u be selling ? Can u get the Asda jeans for me ? |
it would be interesting to know the amount of Nigerians in the UK with student status, i think we have one of the highest number of international studentsBrazil,China and Australia rank above Nigerian students closely followed by Ghana,Zimbabwe and Phillipines , the last 2 rank high amongst Nursing students |
I'm Asthmatic. I inherited it from my Dad.My Grandmum used native herbs to cure my Dad's asthma and forgot the formular. I grew out of asthma when I grew up in UK. I gradually got asthma again when I relocated to Nigeria and nearly died from one attack,a pharmacist gave me an intravenous injection-cortisone to save me when I was stranded in Lagos. I used Asthamanol and Ventolin Tablets/Syrup to control the Asthma. When I returned to the UK and registered with my GP he seized my (Nigerian) Asthmanol drugs and said they contained banned substances. During my last attack in 2004 the ambulance came when I nearly was breathless and took me to Kings College Hospital and I was placed with an Oxygen mask and given Oxygen and Nebuliser. They couldnt bring the attack under control so I was administered with Steroids which neutralised the asthma. The steriods worked better than Viagra for me,double-strength,man. I usually hop around London with my Brown and Blue inhalers (Becotide and Salbutomol).Asthma has been added to the Disability Discrimination Act in UK as a disability and as a result I stopped wearing my tie to work under the genuine pretext of being an asthma patient. |
@ Akolawole and london cool, please do you guys know how long it takes to process a uk student visa? secondly i want to find out the appropriate date the british embassy in nigeria went on xmas break and when they are likely to resume and whether the long hols declared by federal govt will affects their operations, i need answers guysThe BHC will resume on 3rd January 2007 The duration of a student visa application is determined by the backlog of applications waiting to be processed, whether you need to be invited for a tier 1,2 or 3 interview and if the application is straight forward (i.e category UK school, funding in place, no doubts with submitted docs). It can take from 2 weeks to 4 months. If the visa requirements are not fully met, a refusal decision can be recieved the following week. |
I'd pick a spiritual-funckified brother any day.Could you kindly define what a "spiritual funckified brother" is please ? |
Zip codes: post codeThe post codes are not always allocated according to the proximity to central London. For instance SE15 (Peckham) is much closer to the City than SE4 (Brockley) Also, E4 (Chingford) is even in Essex and much further from the City than E9 (Hackney) |
just passing bythat refers to advice proffered in the UK |

Quote from: LondonCool on Today at 05:23:48 PMAkolawole, The fact that a UK sponsor submits documents is not a magna carta for a visa to be issued in isolation of other factors. What is the UK sponsors immigration status? What is the residential status of the sponsor? Is his name in the UK Electoral Roll? Does he have a Criminal Record Bureau entry ? Does he live in a rented property or is it mortgaged? If property is rented ,is it a council flat ? Does he have the landlords authority to accommodate an extra lodger ? There is a checklist for income and expenditure statement of affairs for sponsors, so the ECO can estimate if the joint sponsors financial affairs can take care of their 2 children in addition to being financially responsible for the applicant. London is very expensive to live in , so the threshold for proving financial viability is high. |
A UK based sponsors financial statement lends more credence to student visa applications than Nigerian based sponsors |
Akolawole, @Baba Visa( Sorry LondonCool)You are both right and wrong Right: Nigeria + 5 other countries have been stripped of their visa free status in principle. Wrong: The mode of entry for Nigerians into Dubai has not changed . You still get to apply for your visit/tourist visa's sponsorship through Companies,Airlines or Tour Operators. They dont issue visa's, the documents are faxed to the the UAE Immigration and the visa is issued on arrival (just as before) . The stripping of the visa -free status is only temporal and has not even been implemented yet. When UAE get an Embassy in Nigeria then they may be in a better position to implement their new visa rules as it applies to Nigeria. I fly to Dubai regularly and deal with Dubai flights/passengers on a daily basis |
Most married women prefer to date married men, its safer than dating single men |
The Thamesmead phenomenon is exactly the same as the Peckham, New-cross, Old-Kent, Camberwell thingy, most of the dudes that live there/hang-out there are just the same, got wife and kids at home and still shag around for England, BUUUOY!!!Desiree, Thats a fallacy of generalisation. I'm a Peckham Boy and don't shag around for England, except the right opportunity and person presents itself |
Sin, Dont you have a village, mek dem connect you with one graduate from your Villa-thats the best option for you. The Britico one's here no dey for submission, no dey for cooking (take away babes), no dey for joint mortgage. Its a case of deal or no deal. |
aint nuffin wrong in being a pastor , in most cases speaking in tongues in a public xtian setting is not usually followed byWhen I grew up in Word based Christian fellowships if someone speaks in tongues in church another will interprete it, or the same person would interprete it. Interpretation of tongues is one of the spiritual gifts in the Bible but it seems this art has been long lost in the church because folks are not taught the truth of the Word. BTW,on a lighter note I thought most Babes do list "God-fearing" amongst the qualities they look for in their Husbands, a Pastor with a good secular job is still a hotcake. |
Just before I left the University in Nigeria the NUC introduced a course "Entrepreneural Development" and made it compulsory for all of us then. That was a wise starting point by the Govt by trying to introduce Entrprenueral Skills into the University Curricula, but it is one thing to learn about Entrepreneural Skills it is another thing to have a desire to become an Entrepreneur. David Mc Cllelands "N-Achievement Theory" (or the Need for Achievement theory) posited that some nationalities have a high "N-Achievement" tendency while others have a low one. He also added that those nationalities with a High "N-Acheievement" tendency also have very high Entrepreneural Spirits that causes them to excel in their business enterprises and examples were given of such races as the Americans, Jews, the Asians et al. You can't argue with success (or successful people), you can only learn from them. When I attended a Business seminar recently for Black Entrepreneurs in the UK one of the questions most of the participants asked was, "How come the Asians are so successful and we are'nt ?".That triggered off a study into Asian business enterprises and we decided to learn from them. We learned how to have a solid business plan, we learned how to create a niche market for our products,we learned how to take risks based on assessments and how to make use of OPM* to the advanatage of the business and we also learned how to utilise Franchise's.There is always something new to learn from every successful Entrepreneur irrespective of where the person may come from. Talking about Franchising in Nigeria, this is one area where business opportunities are easily transformed into business ventures. For every single consumable product in Nigeria there is an Entrepreneur who holds the Franchise for it. Someone holds the Franchise for Uncle Bens rice, WAHL Clippers, IKB Soap, Capel Wine, Jungle Oats,Dell Computers etc in Nigeria. With the advent of globalisation and the Internet it could be worthwhile checking what areas of business franchising opportunities are available and make enquiries. The proprietor of DBN Televsion Nigeria saw an advertisement in a foreign newspaper about the Broadcast rights of African football on Television. He quickly formed a company ,applied and won the broadcast rights. Before you know it, Technical partners joined him and they were able to Broadcast the African Nations Cup tournament throughout the continent for so many years before the era of Satellite TV. Some months ago a TV series titled "Inside The Mind of a Millionaire" was broadcast on TV in the UK, they were trying to analyse the mind-set of these Millionaires to see what made them dare to be different. They were given various tasks to accomplish. The strange thing about it was that the Millionaires were inter-mingled with other ordinary men during the tasks and a group of Business psychologists had to analyse who amongst the group were Millionaires. That was'nt hard to find; they did'nt play by the rules. When the rules did'nt suit them they created their own rules ,re-adjusted the playing ground to suit their potentials and played by them. They took risks. They were visualisers and ( I don't like this part) they were all school drop-outs. In that group was a young Nigerian guy named Alexander Amosu who had the intellectual property for the Commercialisation of Ring Tones on Mobile phones in UK.You know what that means ? Other companies get the Franchise from him and for every £1.50 Ring tone downloaded he gets a 30 pence Royalty (with over 12 million ring tone subscribers). The Bottom-line: Being an Entrepreneur involves a self-conscious desire to provide a solution to a business need. This can be done by being either an innovator (improving upon an existing business idea) or an inventor (creating a business idea) or by Franchising (having the right to borrow someone else's business idea). When this is settled we can then utilise our acquired or learned Entreprenueral skills in line with the business vision we have . |
erhm! are you a pastor?Ikamefa, Is there anything wrong with being a Pastor? Just like Eddy Murphy's alter ego said in "Coming to America", "If loving the Lord is wrong I dont wont to be right". |
Since there is no pic of any model let me add my fav model here, Oluchi

Speaking in tongues can be done privately and publicly. Privately , when praying-the Bible says you are edifying yourself and speaking mysteries to God. Publicly, during church congregational worship-but, it should also be followed with an interpretation. The Bible states that if you speak in tongues without interpreting the tongues then its tantamounts to prophesy. Speaking in tongues during a public child dedication ceremony sends a wrong message to those who do not get an interpretation of what is being said, to the unbeliever and to the unbelieving believer. Methinks, that the Pastor who did the tongue-speaking during the ceremony did not properly identify if he doing it publicy (in a church setting) or privately (in personal prayer mode). The dividing line gets thinner when 90% of the attendee's of the child dedication ceremony are church members ,in that case the Pastor may want to enter into the public tongue mode-but it must be accompanied with an interpretation-its not just a Christian feel good factor that excludes unbelievers-it must make sense publicly, albeit one is speaking mysteries to God. |
