I read everything about your testimonial. I deeply regret not knowing you till now because i just replaced my entire engine and gearbox but noticed the speedometer unresponsive and delayed gear response when accelerating. I drive a Toyota RAV4 (2002). See below for more info.


Each time I want to take my car to the mechanic, I always develop the fear of the guy destroying something else after fixing the reason for the visit. This was the case with the last mechanic I frequently used until I got tired of him after he completely knocked my car engine and destroyed the gearbox. I had to take a driving break for about two months before I purchased another engine and gearbox.

Now, the new mechanic, who was recommended by the engine seller, installed the entire package only for the speedometer not to be working and a delayed/sluggish response transmission whenever I accelerate. I noticed this when I test-drove the car from the mainland to the island. The engine works perfectly fine but for more than 3 weeks now,I am yet to start driving the car just because of the two problems mentioned above.

The car is currently with my auto-electrician (Very educated Auto-electrician) who said something needs to be changed in the gear. He said the speed sensor (which is perfectly ok) is not being turned by the gear and hence speedometer still stagnant at zero reading. When he turned the speed sensor with his fingers, the speedometer responded but when connected to the gear, it remains stagnant.
He has checked everything every other electrical faults/signal/sensor that may be responsible but none of this seem to be the problem.

I may have to come with the car on saturday although a little scared driving with a faulty gear.

My questions:

Are educated mechanics really better than uneducated mechanics? They both claim they are specific car brand specialists (e.g. I work on only toyota, i work on only honda, bla...bla..etc). Do you consider their educational level before the patronize them?

How do exactly know a good and experienced mechanic?

Please, advise a brother. BTW, I drive a Toyota RAV4 (2002).

I purchased a tokunbo auto gearbox for my 2002 RAV4 but ever since it's been installed, the speedometer stopped working and I also noticed delay in gear response to a higher speed when I accelraccelerate.

I took it to an autoelectrician who changed the speed sensor but the issue is not solved. He said the sensor is okay.

Please; what do you think could be wrong since I just bought the gearbox?

Its not bad for him to knw the pastor's reasons for not being in support of the job that way he may have beem able to decern if it was a spiritual warning or the pastor's opinion. Dear Op, i once had a recurrent boil earlier in the year.A family member who is a nurse prescribed a particular drug that I can't remember and that was the end.I remember she told me it was caused by unhygienic conditions around me which I took care of immediately in addition to taking the drugs. You might want to check your clothings especially underwears. .

In other words, visit a doctor and be more cautious about the condition of your clothings.

I am presently in similar situation. I went for an Interview earlier this week for a sales staff job at a popular insurance company.
The interviewer told me the pay is 35k. After calculating transport and feeding, it ran into 20k monthly.
Looking at the stress to follow the job of marketing Insurance around, I have been asking myself is it worth it?

You still have 15k left after the feeding and transport. Why not take the job and start from somewhere? It might just be a stepping stone to another level.I know guys that have moved to better jobs from that kind of job.
There was a guy who entered a multinational company to market for his organization. Rather than market their services, he marketed himself right there to one of the managers who gave a listening hear and the rest is history today.
