Hi lookers191,

Firstly, your POF doesn't limit to any provided amounts, you can actually show more than if you have it, but just make sure you prove that those funds are readily available.

Thank you.

Your replies are actually point on as they addressed my concerns.

Yes use oanda.

Thank you for the swift response.

Another question I'll need answers to is if I have initiated form A but yet to be debited, can I make that deduction from my POF as I don't have an acknowledgement from the school yet.

1500 acceptance fees paid
First semester tuition fees initiated with form A
Balance of 9000CAD plus 10 000 living expenses makes 19kCAD.

Is this what I'll show in my POF or 26,500CAD?

Thanks once again.

Please what rate is used to calculate POF for the Canadian study visa application?

God bless you.

I have said it that very soon the UK too would go the way of making a blocked account part of their requirements.

Nigerians just always think they can outsmart any system and it ends up biting hard.

hustla:

Heard Nigerians are ditching school to go and 'hustle' instead and others just do more than the 20 hrs/week allotted during the school session

I suspect UKVI will be stricter next year

Just feels like Nigerians just know-how to ruin everything by default

I was still having this discussion with someone yesterday and he was telling Mey own is too much bla bla bla.

People still need to get the reality that once the airspace is crossed, the game changes entirely.

I remember a discussion here sometime ago when some people were arguing that they won't go to school ànd in their believe, (who school help).

I just hope such people would listen and brace up.

fificole:
If you do not have your fees, either by personal savings, firm commitment from family/ friends or on scholarship…… please do not test UK universities. Their sponsorship license is more important to them.

Our country man came to the information desk very disturbed and begging not to be sent back to Nigeria because cultist will k*ll him.

He was unable to pay the 50% fees pre- registration and had written to the school to defer his admission for a year (after landing). The school in turn withdrew his admission and sponsorship ( as HEP with a track record) and reported same.

UKVI has cancelled/withdrawn his visa.

Who school help right? If one fails to register for their program, same applies.

If one chooses to be in the category that cannot travel anywhere (even back home), cannot work, cannot rent, always watching your back…. Then by all means.

Also, some schools insist on balance 50% as one payment, no installments. Check before you apply.

Why not apply for a direct masters degree with your HND?

That 2m budget seems like a tight one though. Realistically speaking.

Good evening all
I have a question. My Wife will be flying with airmaroc on Monday 6am. Ordinarily she is supposed to be in the airport 3 or 4 hrs earlier that’s by 2 or 3am. That’s too early Do u advise that we go in the night arround 11pm and hang on there or look for a hotel in ikeja and rush there by 4am? Do you think that we can get a cab that early? By 4am and still meet with boarding ?

There are loads of universities that offers you a direct masters degree with your HND.
The previous part discussed by hat in details on many occasions a d trust me, you'll get answers faster on Google too.
What course are you looking at?

Good morning wonderful people of nairaland. I know this question may have been answered before, forgive me for repeating it; I want like the name of four UK universities that can allow one start off a masters degree with HND. I've seen some offering one-year pre-masters but if someone can proceed straight to masters that'll save some good money.

Are you talking about a fresh or renewal of passport?

You don't need an agent for either. With your 45k,you are covered to renew if it is renewal.
Just get your old passport, NIN and the amount.

iamL:
please house how did u go abt ur international passport. I was told to bring:

Two recent passport-size photographs
Proof of payment
Letter of ID from local government/ state of origin (valid staff ID card attached)
Birth certificate
Completed Guarantor’s form (with photocopy of data page of Guarantor’s Nigerian e-passport and one passport-size photograph of the Guarantor)
Police report.

Please how did you go about the guarantor form and the police report? Did u go to police station?
The police station I went to asked for 29k and 10k for guarantor form but I feel is fraud.

Zoopla, trovit, spareroom, gumtree

These are useful resource links you can utilise to get your desired accomodation.

Search for your preferred type, hit the agent or landlord up via email and explain your circumstances that you are an international student coming in for the first time.

You'll typically need a guarantor to getone though but you can still make pre-atrival plans to get somewhere on the interim.

I have a friend who just graduated from Sheffield though but trust out naija people have showed him so it is difficult to recommend to him for help now. His family usually house new arrivals for a while till they find their footing.

Exactly.

And at the end of most data capture forms like the visa form, there would be a column asking if it was filled by the applicant or a representative.

Everything she needs is on the unconditional offer from SHU.

She should just send them an email to schedule her PRE-CAS interview and on the unconditional nditiomal offer, CAS is issued within 5 days.

My sister is off to Sheffield Hallam University this January. She has been issued an unconditional offer.

I would like to know how long it takes for the pre-CAS interview if she pays her deposit by Friday? Will she be required to submit her 28-days bank statement before she would be allowed to do the interview or before CAS is issued?

I have sent an email to the University about this but we haven't heard a response.

How is the pre-CAS interview like in terms of Duration? I reckon it will be via Skype?

Thank you in advance for your response

Attention to details is very key. These are some seemingly negligible factors that contributes to visa success.
Your intro and conclusion are actually conflicting.

That said, for that career switch, you need to honestly answer these questions
*why are you changing?
*how many years of IT related work experience do you have?
*have you written a convincing SOP already that can convince yourself that you'll get an admission?
*I wish people would stop searching for cheap schools ad education abroad especially the UK is not for the faint hearted.

You can look up unis that accepts 3rd class
SHU
MMU
Bournemouth
There are actually tons of them but another thing is for them to have a January start date for your desired course.

As long as your budgetary planning is OK, I'm sure you'll be fine.

Cheers.

I think you need to reevaluet if this route is the right one you want to take.

Quiting a computer-related course because the tuition is high is like shooting one's self on the foot.

Would you rather spend the millions of naira on a cheaper course and end up not getting a good job to guarantee your conversion?

Even at that, I don't see any uni/course that is cheap as they almost all fall within the same range.

All the best in your sojourn, but please dig very well and make the right choice.

You need to be specific to be able to get a definite answer here. You have postedote than once that you plan to enrol for another course but you didn't mention what course.
There are factors that determines the success of your admission and by extension, your visa.
Do you have a convincing statemt of purpose and work experience to cover the gap?

So it is either you conduct an extensive search or you ask specific questions.

Cheers and best of luck.

Good morning everyone.

Please i need a clarification on this.

A 45-year old widow is planning to enrol for a top-up degree ń the UK and she would like to know if she can apply with her 6-year old bearing in mind that the standard rule does not permit a first degree student to travel with any dependant.

She has the husband's death certificate and it seems there is this strong bind between her and the child which makes it almost impossible for her to leave him under anyone's custody while she is studying.

Thank you as I await responses and contributions.

a lot of factors.
When are you travelling?
What airline?
What class of ticket?
What city/Airport are you landing in the UK?
How close to travel date are you buying it?

Hello, Good People Of NL;

I need help with some information;

- Are there good courses and good schools i can get admitted into if i apply with 2'2 (second class lower), Actuarial Science, University Of Lagos (2018 set).
(a good course depends solely on you. What are your career projections?)
Acturial science would definitely give you a wide range of courses to choose from.

- I don't want to take the IELTS, i believe i am proficient enough. I read somewhere some schools exempt Nigerians (But if it is compulsory, i definitely will take it).
IELTS is not compulsory for all the unis. There are still tons of unis that doesn't require it.

- I am skilled in Data Analytics, Public & Media Relations, Insurance and Music Business. I have few works and internships to prove some. (With you data analytics skills, write a convincing SOP and shoot your shot for anything in big data, cloud computing, data analysis etc)
I had previously travelled to UAE for 3 Months.

- I am sponsoring myself. No parents, no relatives. I don't earn salary. I am self-employed, i have 2 startups in Nigeria registered with CAC under my name. (A Music Agency and a Business intelligence Outfit).
(Funding requirement is that you either sponsor yourself, your spouse sponsors you or your parent do. So you're good to go as long as you have the required amount of money for the desired period of time. For your POF, you might need to divert all funds from your corporate accounts to your personal account.)

What is the minimum i have to build in my account for how many months to enable my chances?(your tuition plus living expenses is all you need to proof. And it must be in your account for a minimum of 28 days)

I read it's possible to get scholarships up to 70% or more sometimes. I really wouldn't mind getting one to assist me else i will have to sort for low fees courses and Programmes. (Getting a scholarship woth a 2.2 is like walking a camel through the eye of a needle. I woykd rather you focus on how to self sponsor your academics. There are automatic discounts though which some unis tag scholarships)

Will i be eligible for scholarship, considering i have 2'2?
Which scholarships can i apply for and how? Or make i no just waste my time?
Which relatively low-fee institution can i apply for?(averagely £12,000 to £15,000)
And you get your living expenses too ready. *ref to page 1 of the thread.

I wish to apply for student Visa for Masters or Post Graduate Degree or any other. I don't mind another undergraduate degree, say; a course of 2-3 years. ( Apply for your masters degree. There's no point going through the postgraduate application)

I hope the right people sees this and i get help.
(I hope the responses here help)
Thank You.

This is an interesting topic for me.

I would like to know if there are January start dates for Finnish unis.
Also how can one get low tuition unis?
The funds that needed to be made available through the statement of account, should it be a bulk deposit like the UK or it as to be over a period of many months?

Thank you as I look forward to these answers in arming myself for the Finnish study project.

Low tuition is relative to start with.
But in all she is ncerityyou can prepare to get any the ng between £11,000 to £18,000 for tuition.

So you need to do an extensive research and consider in reality what resources you have at your disposal to embark on this student visa journey.

Cheers

I repeat. You don't need the services of any agent.
The question you ate asking whether it's a case nditiinal or unconditional would be clearly stated on your offer letter.

You can do everything by yourself and in any case you run into any issue that needs verification, you can ask here.

Send your application directly to the uni and plan your movement towards January 2022.

jtech17:

My program start dates are September and January. .

. although my sponsor initially planned September but due to unforseen events he had to tell me to wait till next year.. and I have been in contact with the agent when everything was planned for September, so I had to let him know that everything will have to happen next year...

Concerning the admission is it conditional, unconditional or scholarship ... what do you class the type I mentioned above

Travel / Re: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 5 by lookers191: 7:31am On Jun 05, 2021
To start with, you don't need an agent for anything.
Since you have an understanding with your sponsor, acquaint yourself with Google and this forum while you arm yourself with enough information.
Can you confirm if that your chosen course has a Jan/Feb start date?
The agent is bent in you securing an admission now because he knows that is how he would get money from you.

You have an ample time, get to work now as I believe this work you have to do now is an insignificant fragment of what lies ahead during your proposed studies.

I wish you speed and success.

jtech17:

Hello gurus in the house, I have some questions to know if I'm on the right track... please I'm new to this uk visa thing , so expect some questions dat you might laff at

1. I currently applied to teeside university msc project management via an agent on may 14 its a 2yrs program. the fees is £7500/ year. My sponsor told me he'll be ready for the payment, pof issues next year, say from December this year, January or February next year, due to some expenses he had to offset. my agent told me I can apply this year and a get a discount of £2000 for each year, leaving me £5500 to pay since I have a 2:1 in mechanical engineering .. is this conditional , unconditional admission or scholarship?

2. Since I will be making my payment between end of this year and next year is be wise to have started the application now. Because my agent told me after getting the admission, now I can defer till when I'm fully ready for the payments. Will the discount of £2000 still be available or valid by then that is next year or it has a timeline? Or should I just wait till when I'm ready and reapply thats if theres a possibility of reapplying?

Please you can also recommend cheaper schools as teeside is the only school ive applied for so far.... like I said earlier I have a background im mechanical engineering, 2:1. I'm keen on studying project management, or any construction related courses...

Your answers help a lot. Thanks in anticipation

It's a simple word problem in mathematics.

I need £XYZ and I want to know how much naira that would be appropriate for me to hold.
So i input the amount of £ that is definite to get the naira equivalent.

The other way round is like trying to force yourself in the system. If that was the roght way, we probably won't need Oanda conversion.

Ezriela:
U are right. If ur maintenance fee + tuition balance fee is £21k. Put £21k down,it will give you wat you need in naira . Naira should always be up. Well done

Portsmouth falls among the top 5 unis for studying GIS in the UK, the program is strictly one year and tuition deposit is £3,500.Tuition is £15,550 with a scholarship of £1,650 leaving you with a total of £13,900

SHU has an option of 16 months which comes woth placement. As a matter of fact, on the UO, the expected visa duration runs from September 2021 to November 2023.
Tuition deposit is £1,000 but you should pay half of the tuition on enrolment. Tuition is £14,460 and it comes with a scholarship of £2,000.leaving you with £12,460

So based on these, I guess you should be able to draw your preference and opt for a better choice.
I hope the above helps.

Cheers

3 years ké?
International passport or driver's license?

There's nothing like 3 years valid passport in Nigeria ó.

At least since I started procuring my international passport since year 2004

Always the 5 years, 32 pages until when the 64-page and 10-year validity options were introduced.
baba2unday:

You still don't get my point either. You will know what i mean by the time you want to renew that your 10 years passport and you are delayed like others. This is not a fresh passport that i did but a renewal. You never know what can happen at the time of applying for a renewal. Last five years i applied for the 5years passport ignoring the 3yrs passport just to avoid the stress of coming back to renew after 3yrs. Look at what is happening now that i applied for renewal. No one is perfect. In a country like Nigeria, you know what it is. You are just lucky and don't be too happy..lol it can be your turn another year.
I just feel for people who really need it soon and those that lost opportunities as a result of this delay.
