QuinQ: These are the operative words - "possibly not", "probably is", and "Nigeria". "Nigeria" is what turned "possibly not" into "probably is" You have a funny way of arguing. Do you just enjoy being contrarian? |

DeepSight: I am aware of that, but that doesnt show that it started in Ghana. It doesn't directly. If IRC they had the proliferation of Internet cafes before we did so were more into the cyber culture before us. But like I said anecdotal. |
Romance › Re: Is He Being Scammed? by LordReed(m): 4:26pm On May 26, 2025 |
QuinQ: I don't know who started it. Could be Martians. But Nigerians perfected it, then ran with it, then turned it into a real profession that people go to Yahoo school to learn!
I was telling that poster there are quite a few 25-year-old Naija ladies that'd gladly marry the guy So which is it: it is likely a scam because Nigerians have perfected scamming or it is not a scam because Nigerians have perfected scamming? |

DeepSight: Can you substantiate this sir. It's kinda anecdotal but see the screenshot.

QuinQ: There's only one country that has scam named after it. Type in Nigetian scam and see the results, or Nigerian prince. The only country with that honor
I guess you have not tried obtaining a visa. Even when he comes he still won't be able to get a visa for her. Even after they marry it'd still take some time It was Ghanaians that started the Nigerian Prince scam. Meanwhile, it is you claiming this isn't a scam but also you so adamant that Nigeria is country full of scam. You can't have it both ways man. |
Romance › Re: Is He Being Scammed? by LordReed(m): 12:53pm On May 26, 2025 |
QuinQ: But to get visa is not easy na. Are you not in Nigeria? On what basis would she get a visa? It is possibly not a scam. The only thing making it likely a scam is one word. Remove that word and it could be legit. That word? NIGERIA! WRONG! We find romance scammers from everywhere. The biggest romance scammers might actual be South East Asians. What prevented her from getting a visa when she had someone sponsoring the trip? Someone that can easily be traced? I don't buy it. |

Mariangeles: I'm sure it turned out nice. What I like about simple recipes is that anybody can make them. Indeed! I just love how creative we can get with food. |
Food › Re: Toast Bread With One Full Egg by LordReed(m): 6:31pm On May 25, 2025 |
Mariangeles: It's possible, but you'd have to make it in a pan It's called Egg-in-a-hole. Pan made toasts are the best anyways.
Use a round glass cup to cut out the hole. I made this for my kids and they were over the moon. |
Christianity Etc › Re: Who Is Jesus? by LordReed(m): 6:02pm On May 25, 2025 |
QuinQ: And non of it matters to the point that his disciples were willing to be tortured and die for a person you said they themselves legendised. Exactly. It doesn't matter that they legendised him, they weren't dying for the legend, they were dying for the ideals. Besides, every historical figure is legendised So why are you arguing? |
Christianity Etc › Re: Who Is Jesus? by LordReed(m): 5:22pm On May 25, 2025 |
QuinQ: You don't understand, Krishna did everything he wanted to do. He did not try to start a religion and "failed" then after his death somehow his few deserting disciples came back and resurrected the religion. That doesn't happen and has never happened except in Christianity. Once the original person with the "annointing" dies the organization disappears unless it was already somewhat established by the time of his death Dude you are the one who doesn't understand. None of this matters to the point that Jesus was legendised. Trying to find some unique aspect of the development of the religion will not negate that. |
Christianity Etc › Re: Who Is Jesus? by LordReed(m): 4:38pm On May 25, 2025 |
QuinQ: Ok, Google if Krishna started Hinduism. Also, Krishna lived a full life and left riches; nobody died for him to be recognized as the incarnation of a god. This is like asking me what religion the Daly Lama left behind Did his followers get to inherit his riches or were they used for the religion? You still have no point. |
Christianity Etc › Re: Who Is Jesus? by LordReed(m): 4:27pm On May 25, 2025 |
QuinQ: Krishna did not start any religion. He's worshipped as the 8th incarnation of a Hindu god. Plus, unlike Christ, he was a king on earth, well-established He didn't start a religion but one came up about him so you have no point please. |
Romance › Re: Is He Being Scammed? by LordReed(m): 4:08pm On May 25, 2025 |

Before you answer also read this:
And this:
And this: I'd say it's a scam. If she didn't get a visa then there's no reason to think she really wants to be with him. That's if there is even a she in the first place. |
Christianity Etc › Re: Who Is Jesus? by LordReed(m): 3:52pm On May 25, 2025 |
QuinQ: What I mean is, ALL were started and guided by a founder who stayed alive until they were somewhat established, only Christianiy. If you know any denomination or religion that wasn't let's have it.
I don't see how leaving an organised group and possibly a building where they regularly met runs counter to being ascetic.
I judlst started this thread in Romance section: "Is this man being scammed?": https://www.nairaland.com/8434719/he-being-scammed#135502582 Which organised religion did Krishna leave behind at his death? |
Christianity Etc › Re: Who Is Jesus? by LordReed(m): 2:17pm On May 25, 2025 |
QuinQ: He enjoyed finer things just as much as the next guy. JohnTB was the ascetic. Remember Matthew 11:19 "The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, 'Here is a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners.". Besides, what has that to do with leaving behind an established group and a building where they met regularly. Also, there are some 45,000 denominations of Christianity, then other religions, can you name one that went through a similar process? Enjoyed what finer things? Someone who walked everywhere instead of using a horse? Someone who had to gouge out a fish to pay the tax? Someone who preached for people to leave all behind to follow him? You are the one who has to explain anything you are arguing for. You can't ask me to explain your position for you. Why does a religion need to follow the same process as any other for the people of that religion to believe in its ideals? Is there a religion template that was laid down to say all religions must be that way? What has the 45,000 denominations of Christianity got to do with people dying for its ideals? Or how does 45,000 denominations prove that Jesus was not legendised? |
Christianity Etc › Re: Who Is Jesus? by LordReed(m): 1:29pm On May 25, 2025 |
QuinQ: He died a shameful death (crucifixion was considered such) and we know at least one,Peter, denied knowing him three times. What is your definition of failure. He had nothing and left nothing. No money, no connections, not even a church building or home where they could meet. Like I said, you can’t mention another instance in human history where this happened and the movement survived Why would a rather ascetic preacher leave anything behind? Those were some of the purported ideals, to have nothing. If he had died contrary to his ideals then he would be considered a failure in the eyes of his followers. He died exactly like he supposedly predicted so what is the failure? |
Christianity Etc › Re: Who Is Jesus? by LordReed(m): 12:10pm On May 25, 2025 |
QuinQ: Nope. I said specifically the Jesus phenomenon - whereby the founder died a total "failure" without establishing anything at all, and even his closest disciples ashamed to be associated with him. That should have been the end of the movement and always is How did he die a failure? He told them he was going to come back so death was not the end. Why would they be ashamed when he promised them authority and retribution on those who were ashamed of him? Have you ever heard of Krishna? |

Civil engineers and Masons should please enlighten us. It's either an "I have too much cement" staircase or a punishment staircase. |
Christianity Etc › Re: Who Is Jesus? by LordReed(m): 11:31am On May 25, 2025 |
QuinQ: These were all ESTABLISHED causes! Mention an instance where the founder was killed without having established anything at all, infact with his closest friends refusing to be associated with him. I added this to the post: ** Suicide bombers are dying for an established religion and also undergoing on-going brainwashing and indoctrination. The only reason Christianity spread is because they tried to suppress it. Nothing is as powerful and emotionally destructive as watching a totally innocent man killed What does established cause mean? So what if suicide bombers are dying for an established religion? You are the one making out like as if dying for a cause means it is true. |
Christianity Etc › Re: Who Is Jesus? by LordReed(m): 11:16am On May 25, 2025 |
QuinQ: But this has NEVER happened any other time in human history. If that were the case it would have happened a few times. Think of how many wars Mohammed had to wage to spread Islam. Now imagine he was killed before he ran to Medina. What do you think would have happened? No other time in human history did the Jesus phenomenon occure, and they did it without fighting any war! What has never happened? People dying for their ideals? LoLz. You ever hear of the Crusades? What of the Spanish Inquisition? Or the wars that were fought in England because of the differing Christian beliefs? Or the conflict in Northern Ireland between Catholics and Protestants? |
Christianity Etc › Re: Who Is Jesus? by LordReed(m): 10:37am On May 25, 2025 |
QuinQ: These ones below. What ideals? These are all church traditions, they don't really know how they died. Besides dying for something doesn't indicate the truth of it or do you think all those suicide bombers are dying for something true? The fact is they are all dying for ideals they believe in. One ideal that would drive to death is something Jesus purportedly told them that he would not reward them if they didn't spread his message Mark 8:38. If they believed that Jesus was coming back to rule and would reward them with positions of authority then it stands to reason they would preach his message even under the threat of death. Same way suicide bombers believe they will get a reward. |
Christianity Etc › Re: Who Is Jesus? by LordReed(m): 10:02am On May 25, 2025 |
QuinQ: What sort of vested interest? Jesus was dead and died having nothing. The natural thing would have been to scatter, everyone moving on with his life. Instead his disciples were willing to be fed to lions and crucified for a legend they created, as shown below? Hmmm Vested interest in the ideals they believed in. Which of his disciples was fed to lions or crucified? |
Christianity Etc › Re: Who Is Jesus? by LordReed(m): 7:11am On May 25, 2025 |
QuinQ: Oh, ok, I see. In that case who legendised him and what would be the motive and are all the acts of the apostles, and epistles of St. Paul, and Roman persecution of early Christians also legendised? Everyone who had a vested interest in perpetuating the legend; his disciples primarily then all the people they influenced after his death. |
Christianity Etc › Re: Who Is Jesus? by LordReed(m): 10:43pm On May 24, 2025 |
AngelahFlo: Wish I could agree with you but my bible never told me so. If the devil could recognize him as a real person and his demons too I see no reason why you should see him as a legend. Jesus was no Legend and even of he was, He's the only "legendized" person who cheated death How do you know what the Bible says is true? Can you provide any evidence of these demons or devil? Ever heard of Krishna before? |
Christianity Etc › Re: Who Is Jesus? by LordReed(m): 9:41pm On May 24, 2025 |
AngelahFlo: Hmm Interesting. That means the person every nation and even demons acknowledge as Lord is a mere preacher who happen to be favored of God such that He called Him His only begotten Son. Thanks for your honesty though Maybe that is your belief but it certainly not mine. Also, every nation? Are you kidding? You don't know that not all nations think Jesus is a lord? Jesus as far as I am concern was just some preacher his followers legendised. There is no god or demons in play at all. |
Christianity Etc › Re: Who Is Jesus? by LordReed(m): 9:18pm On May 24, 2025 |
AngelahFlo: Wow For the purpose of discourse are you saying there never was a Jesus who walked the earth. Or you mean someone who walked the earth during the Roman rule Era of Jerusalem was just a preacher who claimed to be the savior of mankind? The later. |
Christianity Etc › Re: Who Is Jesus? by LordReed(m): 9:02pm On May 24, 2025 |
QuinQ: You wrote this:
Jesus is either a legendised individual or legendised composite of several individuals
Unless my understanding of "legendised" is faulty It is. Legendised means there was a person whose qualities or deeds took on a very elaborate dimension that is an overexaggeration of those deeds or qualities. |
Christianity Etc › Re: Who Is Jesus? by LordReed(m): 8:02pm On May 24, 2025 |

Christianity Etc › Re: Who Is Jesus? by LordReed(m): 6:40pm On May 24, 2025 |
QuinQ: So where did all those profound words in the Bible come? Some of them probably came from ancient writings that were already familiar literature in those days. They get absorbed into the culture and take on the likeness of the culture. I doubt that everything written to have been said by Jesus was actually said by him because some of it could not have been known by the authors. |
Christianity Etc › Re: Who Is Jesus? by LordReed(m): 1:18pm On May 24, 2025*. Modified: 2:14pm On May 24, 2025 |
AngelahFlo: Christians call Him the Son of God. Muslims refer to him as one of the prophets.
The born again spirit filled believers call him the soon coming King.
Who is Jesus to you? Was he a real individual that walked this earth 2000+ years ago or a figment or history? Jesus is either a legendised individual or legendised composite of several individuals from the 1st century CE during the Roman occupation of the Levant. That period had a bunch of apocalyptic preachers who could have been the basis for the Jesus of the Bible. |
