He probably has to exhaust all his appeals I am guessing. Death sentences have been commuted to life sentences before.

Except you said the execution should be within 30 days. Those guys execution will take some ttime. There have been people wrongly accussed for example the guy wrongly accused of the Boston Bombing who committed suicide because of the accusation. Then it was latter found out he was wrongly accused.

The pause in execution allows for a more rigorous process to ensure an innocemt doesn’t get executed. Your haste to execute will do just that.
