Islam › Re: Issues Concerning Muhammad & Islamic Teaching by LordReed(m): 10:23pm On Oct 30, 2025 |
honesttalk21: That’s actually a misuse of the no true Scotsman fallacy. It only applies if someone redefines Islam to exclude wrongdoing but that’s not what’s happening here. The point is that the Qur’an itself never commands killing for disbelief or apostasy; it explicitly says, there is no compulsion in religio. The distinction isn’t about true vs false muslims. It’s about the difference between Islamic teaching and political abuse done in its name.
As for taqiyya; a group quickly abuse and misinterprete, it’s not a permit to lie but a narrow, defensive allowance used historically to protect one’s life under persecution. Claiming that all Muslim apologists lie ignores both context and sincerity. Critique should target distortions not assume deceit is the norm. I don't think you know what the no true Scotsman fallacy is. The "no true Scotsman" fallacy is an informal logical fallacy where a generalization is defended against a counterexample by arbitrarily changing the definition of the group to exclude the counterexample. Instead of revising the initial claim, the person dismisses the individual as not being a "true" or "pure" member of the group. This is a form of appeal to purity or moving the goalposts You are claiming some people are not practicing proper Islam because they claim that their holy book commands them to kill anyone who leaves the religion. The question you should be tackling is why they think they are given that command not trying to claim they aren't practicing proper Islam. Not sure why you are mentioning taqiyya cos I didn't say anything about it. |

Why should she need to potentially sabotage the joy of her family for her husband's sake? Who is more important to the family, their daughter/sister's husband or someone who isn't family. |

Feisu: My wife still keeps contact with her married ex. She says they parted peacefully so they are still friends. I didn't have an issue with it.
But I recently found out he sends money and gifts to my inlaws and they are all so happy with that. Even celebrating this in my presence and saying I shouldn't be jealous or anything because their daughter knows she's married and their relationship was in the past.
This doesn't sit well with me.
I also know for a fact that my parents wouldn't accept unsolicited gifts from my ex or that of my siblings. Unless he is in direct contact and remained friendly with them then it is weird but I feel your discomfort. However if your wife is not willing to listen to you when you say you are not comfortable then there are issues o! Talk to your wife and express exactly what makes you uncomfortable with the situation. Hopefully she'll listen and do something about it. |

raumdeuter: Legal permanent residents are Green card holders and Citizens Those on some type of visas are temporary residents and its your responsibility to ensure you are still in status and not violate your visa requirement You checking in for 30yrs or 100yrs does not make you a permanent resident until you do what is needed. Its not the officials responsibility to help him change his status
Its like in a school, its your responsibility to register for courses and ensure you graduate, staying in the school for 10yrs without doing what is required wont make you a graduate There are several ways to be on track to being a green card holder. I didn't say it was the officials responsibility to help him change his status. It is the officials responsibility to tell him if he missed something. I don't know of any official procedure where if your documents are not in order they don't tell you you missed something. |

How will someone claim they dont know his papers is not right? If you dont know the status of your papers, maybe you deserve to be sent out Huh? Are you saying the only US residents are holders of green card or a US passport? What was his yearly check in for then? What were they checking if not his status? Someone has been checking in for more than 30 years and you want to claim he should have known he was not allowed to be in the country. The officials didn't know? |

Islam › Re: Issues Concerning Muhammad & Islamic Teaching by LordReed(m): 3:54pm On Oct 28, 2025 |
honesttalk21: Indeed that’s a fair concern but it’s important to separate Islam from how some people or regimes misuse it. The Qur’an clearly says, there is no compulsion in religion (2:256), revealed when Muslims already held power proving it wasn’t about weakness or convenience. Later jurists linked apostasy with treason in political contexts, not simple disbelief. That is culture and politics, not divine command. In Islam, faith is a matter of conscience not coercion. You cannot separate do that separation honestly without launching into a no true Scotsman fallacy. Are these people Muslims practicing Islam? YES, they are. They believe their holy book commands them to do it, and they are following it to the point they even commit state resources to fulfil it. Your answer barely addresses the reality, you sound kinda idealistic and I wish that was the case, but it isn't. |

Islam › Re: Issues Concerning Muhammad & Islamic Teaching by LordReed(m): 7:35pm On Oct 27, 2025 |
honesttalk21: Those verses weren’t blanket orders to kill unbelievers. They were wartime instructions after enemies broke treaties and attacked Muslims. Islam’s principle stays clear; there is no compulsion in religion (Q 2:256).
Banu Qurayza’s case wasn’t about faith. It was treason judged by their own chosen arbiter under tribal law.
Even the kill apostates hadiths referred to open rebellion, not personal disbelief. The Qur’an gives no earthly penalty for leaving Islam. Only God judges belief.
In context, these weren’t commands for violence but for justice and defense. I always hear this but in practice it tends to be quite different depending on certain factors. A person in certain places CANNOT openly declare that they have left Islam, they will be kill or prosecuted. Where is the "no compulsion"? |

miracle002: Do you know that it is not everybody you see on the street, on the road, in the market place, in your place of work, in your compound, or even in the church are human beings.
Those people you are seeing are not human beings at all, rather they are literal demons covered with human flesh.
This is not a conspiracy theory nor a hoax. This is not what I read in a book or a story or what someone told me. This is what I have seen so many times whenever God choses to open my eyes.
These demons in human form may be your siblings, your parents, your children, your spouse, your friend, your colleague in your place of work, your boss he may even be your Pastor in your church. This is how you people start. Tomorrow you will start killing your mother or burning the fingers of little children accusing them of being demons. People like you are a danger to society. |

seunmsg: lol. When the US government is after you and your business, they will do everything to bring you down. Before the plea deal, they already banned all US banks from transacting with the exchange. A lot of European countries were also withdrawing financial services to the company. A long legal battle would have killed off the company and crypto in general. So, the wise thing to do was to make the sacrifice and save the company.
Even the Judge was reluctant to send CZ to prison. The Biden government wanted three years but the Judge grudgingly sent him to prison for four months after complaining that the request of the Biden administration is unheard of in 30 years. They banned them from tansfers yet he was still making transfers to US banks? How? Prosecutors can arraign for anything they think they can get away with including the death penalty but it is up to the judge and/or jury. I dunno why you think it is remarkable in the US justice system for this to happen. Meanwhile Trump is suing media companies and getting them to pay heavy fines, I don't hear you complaining of executive intimidation. I bet you'll come up with an excuse why it is different. |

seunmsg: In the early days of Binance when the Crypto industry was largely unregulated, some folks used the exchange for money laundering. When this was discovered, CZ cooperated with security agencies to block the funds and put measures in place to ensure such things don’t happen again.
Years later, he exposed the corruption going on in FTX, a crypto exchange owned by an American who was a big time donor to the democrat. SBF was sent to prison for the exposure and the Biden administration went all out to destroy CZ, Binance and indeed the entire crypto industry.
So they went back to the 2017 issues and took CZ to court over it. It was a process that would have a huge impact on Binance and the industry so CZ opted to resign as Binance CEO and and entered a plea bargain that would see him plead guilty for the offense of the exchange since he’s the target and free Binance from any wrongdoing. That’s how he ended up going to prison for four months. A lawyer will advise you take a plea deal because the prosecution probably has something bigger in their arsenal that will devastate you in court. |
