The former deputy speaker of the 24-member Bayelsa State House of Assembly, Abraham Ngobere, on Wednesday emerged the new speaker of the Assembly. Ngobere, who represents Brass Constituency 3, was elevated to the position after the speaker, Monday Bubou-Obolo, who represents Southern Ijaw 2, stepped down during an emergency sitting at the Assembly Complex in Yenagoa. He was nominated by Bernard Kenebai (Sagbama 2) and was seconded by Gibson Munalayefa (Ogbia 2). Bubou-Obolo was elected speaker on September 30, 2019 following the impeachment of the then speaker, Tonye Isenah (Kolokuma/Opokuma 2). The change in the leadership of the Assembly was occasioned by the emergence of Douye Diri as governor of the state. Bubou-Obolo and Diri are from the same Bayelsa Central Senatorial District and by the political equation of the state, a senatorial district cannot produce the governor and the speaker in a political dispensation. The Assembly also elected Michael Ogbere (Ekeremor 3) as the new deputy speaker, while the immediate past speaker, Bubou-Obolo, became the majority leader of the House. Others included Bernard Kenebai (Sagbama 2), deputy majority leader; and Ebiwou Koku-Obiyai (Yenagoa 2) as the chief whip. www.punchng.com/bayelsa-assembly-gets-new-speaker-deputy/amp/ Lalasticlala Mynd44

Love affair again. At OP, make sure you find someone with integrity as someone here rightly said. Marriage is not all about what you see now but what'd see later. No matter how long and how far you find love, make sure you find integrity. Now, what if that your boyfriend gets married to the lady processing his papers or maybe have been sleeping with that lady.. In other words, he's not your man. You're not getting any younger and don't become a baby mama Bellefamn |

The newly elected governor of Bayelsa state Sen. Duoye Diri has deemed it fit to return all the glory to God for seeing him through the election and for victory at the Supreme court which led to his swearing in as the duly elected Governor of Bayelsa state. During the service, he emphasized on the need to work together and make the state conducive for every resident. These were his words : Today, I had another opportunity to thank and give all the glory to Almighty God for the victory He gave us. It was not by our abilities, but He decided to give us the privilege of leading the great people of Bayelsa. We do not take this for granted and I have given my word that we would build bridges and mend fences both within and across party lines. I want to use this opportunity to call on my brothers and sisters in other parties to join hands with me to move our dear state forward. Bayelsa is for all of us to grow. Our priority is to improve the quality of lives of every Bayelsan and build a state that we all will be proud of; irrespective of our political affiliations, religion or local government. I also want to recognize the efforts of our great leader, H. E Henry Dickson, who I will always consult with when there is a need to, for the benefit of the people of Bayelsa. I would be a Governor for ALL Bayelsans. -GDD https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=198043094908124&id=109633667082401

A 28-year-old New Jersey woman, Ajia Strauss on Thursday February 13 pleaded guilty to charges of conspiracy to defraud the United States. Strauss who was arraigned before a Pittsburgh federal court, admitted to entering a sham marriage with a Nigerian man who was living in Pittsburgh so he could become a permanent resident. Prosecutors said 36-year-old Monsuru Ogunbiyi returned to western Pennsylvania where he was already living after the marriage was conducted in New Jersey on June 3, 2016. It was gathered that asides paying Strauss $1,500 for the fake marriage, they falsified documents, made untrue statements to Citizenship and Immigration Services, staged loved up photos, claimed they lived together and also opened a joint bank account. They were busted after Ogunbiyi filed for permanent residency status in 2017. Text messages in which they discussed about Strauss' address and learning more about each other before the fake marriage were obtained by authorities. The duo were indicted in July 2019 and the Nigerian man who pleaded guilty to same offence in December 2019, has already served two and a half months in jail and is also likely to be deported. Strauss is scheduled to be sentenced in Pittsburgh on June 3. She could face up to five years in prison and $250,000 in fines, authorities said. https://www.lindaikejisblog.com/2020/2/american-woman-to-go-to-jail-over-1500-fake-marriage-with-a-nigeria-man.html Lalasticlala Mynd44

Egypt’s health ministry on Friday confirmed its first case of the novel coronavirus, making it the first in Africa. The sufferer was not Egyptian, the ministry said in a statement, without specifying the nationality. “The ministry has taken preventative measures and is monitoring the patient… who is stable,” said health ministry spokesman Khaled Megahed. Egyptian authorities had notified the World Health Organization and the patient been placed in quarantined isolation in hospital. The death toll from the epidemic virus has neared 1,400 cases, almost exclusively in China where it was first identified. Deep trade links with China and often overstretched healthcare systems have raised concerns about the capacity of African countries to respond to an outbreak. Earlier this month, Egypt suspended all flights on its national carrier to China. They will remain grounded until the end of the month. Three hundred and one Egyptians were evacuated from Wuhan, epicentre of the virus in China, and have remained in quarantine for 14 days. https://www.channelstv.com/2020/02/14/breaking-egypt-records-first-coronavirus-case-in-africa/amp/%3ffbclid=IwAR3OdKv0bTzVTlBnSrB_5jMVB52xM_gJ-CpJ4hMSVZb28bk3NKZc6g2GaZ0/ Lalasticlala Mynd44
