It's not really about exposure. It is about the confidence and boldness to confront people that matters. You can be exposed without confidence
I meant exposure to public speaking, social situations generally. Doing it over and over reinforces one's confidence, from what I gathered from your response and others.

Just like that lady said .. it's selective with me too ... Depends on who, where and what I'm speaking to or on...

Alcohol helps too ...

Most times I force myself to do it and damn the resulting situation that comes after ...
Brace yourself though.. you're gonna get real sweaty ...
How about in professional setting, like a work presentation or something? I don't think alcohol would be appropriate for that. The sweaty part is so true.

I have wanted to create a thread about this. I am a naturally shy person and the day I decided to stop it,I was so proud of myself. It's a gradual process. You don't have to be an extrovert to overcome shyness. I learnt this myself. You need to be very bold and don't care about what people will say and suspend your pride.Be real and be true to yourself.
Again, don't care about what people will say
Thank you for your contribution, i guess exposure is really the solution.

In what way? The audience or speech content?

Same here! I have a presentation coming up soon and I'm so nervous. Introversion, shyness and public speaking are a terrible mix.

Do you have a fear of public speaking? Or you struggled with it in the past but somehow found a way to overcome it, I'd like you to please share your experience with it and how it has impacted your life.

Jobs/VacanciesRe: Which Should I Go For ? 650k For Hybrid Start Up Or 350k Two Remote Jobs by LotaTee: 4:13pm On Jan 18, 2024
LandMann:
Stop typing bullshit.

There are no 200 million people in Nigeria praying to get the job

Nigeria is declining fast because most of the good brains have left the country. The mediocre and poorly educated are the ones roaming the streets looking for job. Give them that job and they won't be able to deliver or improve the system. It's all garbage in garbage out. This is made worse by the poor working conditions of the employee as a result of poor working standards and poor labour laws.

200k is less than $200 dollars.

Minimum wage was $100 few years ago. Now minimum wage is less than $30.

So, most Nigerians are merely earning minimum wage or less given current cost of living.

So, allow the guy to freely choose whatever direction he wants to take without making him look desperate or foolish. He's probably more skilled than you and I'm sure he's planning to leave the country for fools like you to keep pushing the useless narrative that 200million people are jumping at a job that pays them less than minimum wage.
There are still well educated and skilled individuals in the country. It may come as a surprise to you that not everyone has been affected by the japa syndrome. It's wrong to think that our workforce is largely filled with mediocre minds, it's an insult to those working tirelessly to the best of their abilities in spite of the various limitations.

grin angry please rest this Akara stuff.Akara is made up of 98% beans and during the slave trade era yoruba people never engaged in beans cultivation even till date.the cultivation
of beans, groundnut, maize etc are majorly northern nigerian and meddle belt crops.i am not saying that the Yorubas doesn't have
foods persay but those foods you are mentioning are borrowed foods just like foods like rice, spaghetti, macaroni, suya, indomie, bread, potatoes etc are all borrowed foods,
Whatever feeds your delusion.

Its formally known as egwusi not egusi, just like you guys pronounce ibo to igbo its never a yoruba food. Egwusi/egusi,ugo leaf, oha leaf, achi, ofo, olugbu(bitter leaf)etc are all from SouthEast. Akara was introduced to west africa by slaves returning from Brazil,i will not be surprised if ofe akwu(banga soup)abacha, ugba, nkwobi, isi ewu, ukwa(breadfruit)would one day be termed Yoruba foods
Akara was introduced to Brazil by slaves stolen from Yorubaland. They took Akara to Brazil, not the other way round.
FamilyRe: Being A First Daughter by LotaTee: 12:37am On Jan 03, 2024
Kobojunkie:
Of course!

2. That may be your particular brainwashing but that ain't, by any standard, the norm for all firstborn daughters in Nigeria. I know and have met some Nigerian-born firstborn daughters and none of the ones I have met have OP's particular issues. Most of the ones who carry sibling issues for head do so because it is something they have some sort of passion for. undecided

3. All the more reason why OP needs to be made to realize that she had a hand in creating the problem and she alone can set herself free by making different choices. undecided

4. You have never been to a psychotherapy session, have you? It isn't a place where you are shielded from the obvious. undecided
People react differently to situations. Were they raised by OP's parents? Did they experience similar situations? She may have been physically abused as well. And if she was deprived of opportunities available to her siblings(tertiary education), who knows what other things went on?
What should she have done differently? Refuse to do chores and suffer the consequences perhaps? Run away from home and risk being the victim of a ritualist/organ trafficker? Please answer realistically.
Nope I haven't, but I know that any psychotherapist who blames me for my childhood trauma isn't worth their salt.

Kobojunkie:
There is no emotionally invalidation in any of what I stated. All of what she has been doing up until this moment has absolutely nothing to do with her being the first daughter but all a result of choices she made as an individual to carry the burden of others in her home. So why is letting her know she played an active role in getting herself to where she is today wrong? undecided

There are so many other first daughters from toxic homes who made different choices for themselves and hence did not end up in the same trap as OP here. Shouldn't OP be made to realize this? undecided
Are you African? Being first daughter means that from an early age, as soon as you can walk and talk, you start contributing to the household by running errands and doing chores. That in itself isn't a bad thing but it's quite common to see the male siblings treated preferentially(little to no errands/chores) and if they're older, double wahala. You know the whole respect your elder shit. So from an early age, getting punished for things your siblings don't even do can be damaging to the psyche. Then the child grows into a traumatized adult with self esteem issues and low confidence. Because the only love/attention she received growing up was directly proportional to how useful/helpful she was. And you tell this kind of person who obviously needs some form of psychotherapy that her current situation is a culmination of her choices. Yeah, she definitely chose to be born and to be treated like a slave. Even if you didn't have this kind of experience growing up, would it have killed you to be empathetic?

The statement in bold is a dirty lie you tell yourself, and you need to get rid of it if you wish to free yourself from what you pretend somehow has to do with the fact that you were born first daughter. There are many first daughters out there who no carry all that nonsense wey you choose for head so, and they don't have the miserable stories you have there to tell. You need to decide what you want to do with your life. lipsrsealed

First and foremost, stop deceiving yourself and start being honest about yourself and what you truly desire for your own life, and then go for it without guilt. lipsrsealed
Your first paragraph is trash. You don't live with her or know how her situation really is so, why try to emotionally invalidate her?

Don't Deceive yourself. Don't let anyone Deceive you. There is no repentance in the Grave. Mercy Expires at Death.

Now is the ACCEPTABLE TIME.
Now that we Have the breath of God in our Nostril is the opportunity to make peace with JESUS CHRIST.
The moment you Depart this earth, it is Over.
What will matter at that moment is if you Had a Genuie relationship with JESUS CHRIST.
You do know you can pass your pass your message across in a more humane manner, right? Do you honestly think you can make heaven with this attitude? A new year is fast approaching, let your message be love, not doom. Ugh

Gas of course. undecided
I use my 12.5kg which costs about 3500 for a month plus. A 25litre kerosene costs higher (cos u will hardly get at official price) and you will use it up in less than a month under the same conditions. Not to talk of the fact that it burns faster and also makes the kitchen smell awful, with black smoke everywhere. Ewwwww......
12.5kg gas was #3500 then. Miscreants have destroyed this country.
